There is some light at the end of the tunnel as top officials of Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) have finally agreed to come together to make an effort to successfully organize the test match between India & South Africa, at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.

For quite a long time now, DDCA officials have been divided into separate groups and politics has over shadowed the cricket affairs of the state. The divide aggravated during and after the Sports Working Committee elections with the board making headlines by releasing as many as three different lists for Ranji Trophy Camp.

Now the dust seems to settle as an eight-member committee has been formed to overlook the organization of the test match between India & South Africa. The committee includes President S.P Bansal, Suresh Chopra, C.K Khanna, Pravesh Sharma, Sunil Yadav, Rajan Tiwari, Vinod Tihara and Siddharth Sahib Singh.

Sh. Siddharth Sahib Singh is also included in the Purchase, Finance and Audit Committee which consists of two other members namely Ravi Jain and Subhash Sharma. This committee will assess the expenses and payments that happened before the elections.

Lets hope this proves to be a master stroke in getting the DDCA affairs back on track and we see some quality management in the days to come.

DU Inter College 2015-16

It was the grand finale of the cricket tournament of one of the best universities in the country. But there was nothing “grand” about it, literally. Played between historically the strongest teams of the university i.e. Swami Shradhanand College and Aryabhatta College, one would expect the final match to generate some fuzz, at least in the college circles. Well, it was not to be.

The actual count of people at the final match of 2014-15 edition played at NSIT, Dwarka stood at 36, including the players. Let me break it up for the readers. 15 squad members from each team totalling it to 30. A coach each belonging to both teams. One scorer. Two Umpires. That totals it to 35. And last but not the least- me. Not a single more person was present at the venue who was concerned with the “prestigious” DU Inter College Final.

So what is going wrong here? Why an event that has been played for so many years, that has given many state and national level players, that had so much value amongst the cricketers and general audience is struggling to catch the attention of people? Even after graduating from the University of Delhi, I didn’t know about the very existence of the tournament, till I became a cricket writer and covered the 2014-15 edition.

But now that I know about it and having seen the level of cricket being played, it becomes my duty, out of passion, that other people also get to know about it. They get to know who scored the most runs, took most wickets and catches, played that match defining knock, or effected that all important run out. These are the things that deserve to be out in the public and not remain hidden. These are the players who will sooner or later represent our state and probably country too.

CricketGraph became the first platform (digital) to cover this tournament’s previous edition that took place in February to May 2015. Now we are back with the 2015-16 edition that is scheduled to begin on 28th September 2015.

Format: Apart from the top 4 teams of the previous edition i.e. Swami Shradhanad College (Winners), Aryabhatta College (Runners Up), SGTB Khalsa (3rd place) & SGGSCC, all other college teams will go through a series of knock out matches to reach the group stage. Two groups of four teams each will be formed and each team will play the other three teams. Top two teams from each group with enter the semi-finals.

The fixtures for the knock out stage are as follows:
