DU Inter College 2015-16

Few might find it difficult to digest but two teams in a tournament have shown remarkable consistency not only this year but for the past 3 years. No matter what the result comes out to be, one thing is for sure- the final match is going to be won by the team who knows how to keep their nerves in the dying moments. The stakes are high and pride of college is on the line. It will be a test of strength and character along will skill.

The tournament we are talking about is Delhi University Inter College Cricket Tournament 2015-16 and the teams in question are Swami Shradhanand College and Aryabhatta College. Both teams are the finalists of previous two editions as well with the former defeating the latter both the times to clinch the title.

For Swami Shradhanand College, this will be a chance to claim a hat-trick of Inter College titles and they are in pretty good form to do it. On the other hand, for Aryabhatta College it will be the best chance to avenge their losses for the past two years. Both teams look equally strong on paper.

For Swami Shradhanand College, Deepak Khatri is the top run getter with 308 runs in 4 matches and Lalit Yadav tops the bowling chart with 8 wickets. Aryabhatta College has Yogesh Kumar in their ranks with 17 wickets to his name. Akash Antil (203) and Dinesh Mor (196) are the top run scorers for their side.

Abhishek Radhe Vats, the lanky medium fast bowler from Swami Shradhanand College, who was recently awarded the best bowler in Red Bull Campus Cricket Tournament, has a lot of stake in the upcoming final. He has take five wicket hauls in both the finals in the previous two years and played a major role in his team winning the title. Considering, this is his last shot in the tournament, this is a golden chance for him to create history and a record that will almost be difficult, if not impossible to match, let alone break.

Match : CapGemini vs Dimension Data

Akshay Manjrekar scored an excellent 65 helping his team CapGemini post a formidable 183 runs against Dimension Data.

Dimension data gave a good fight but felt short by 35 runs. Akshay again shone with the ball picking up 4 wickets.

Tournament: Dreamz corporate trophy 2015-16

Match: Cleartrip vs Liberty Videocon

Shakir Sheikh from Cleartrip performed exceptionally well both with the bat and the ball to help his team win easily against Liberty Videocon.

Opening the innings for Cleartrip Shakir Sheikh scored 48 in just 32 balls. With such an excellent start, Cleartrip managed to compile a mammoth 202 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Shakir was well supported by Faiyaz (42 off 24 balls) and Mahesh (47 off 23 balls).

Liberty Videocon scumbled chasing this huge score and were bundled out for 98 runs, handing a huge win by 104 runs to Cleartrip. Shakir was again brilliant with the ball picking up 3 wickets.

Shakir was adjudged Man of the Match.

 

Tournament : Mega Milan Corporate League (last season)      Venue : Western Railway

Match : Final: Cipla vs Orange

Final of last seasons mega corporate league was played on 31st October 2015 on the Western Railway Ground between the finalist Cipla and Orange.

Toss was won by Orange and their captain chose to bat. Putting a score on the board is always a good tactic in the final. Openers Akhtar Shaikh and Yogesh Poojari gave a decent start to Orange scoring 30 and 28 respectively. But introduction of the bowler Sagar Kadam from Cipla changed the complexion of the game. Sagar bowled an excellent spell accounting for 4 top order batsmen of Orange. He was supported well by Ishan and Shrinivas picking 3 and 2 wickets each. Orange could manage only 123 for the loss of 9 wickets.

Chasing a target in final is never an easy task but the top 4 batsmen of Cipla made the task look easy and chased down the target in just 16 overs. Ameya Desai for Cipla top scored with 71.

Riding on Naman Tyagi‘s sparkling knock of 70 runs, Dhaka Cricket Academy defeated D Force Academy easily by 86 runs in the ongoing Vikaspuri Tourament.

Batting first, Dhaka Academy put up a total of 142/6 thanks to Naman’s 70 run knock. Siddharth Gandhi also contributed with 41 runs.

In reply, D Force Academy were bundled out for mere 56 runs. Gaurav Rana managed a top score of 19 runs. For Dhaka Academy, Siddharth Gandhi and Aman Chaudhary captured a couple of wickets each and ensured a one sided victory for their team.

BCCI U-19 Challengers Trophy

Delhi U-19 skipper Himmat Singh‘s excellent knock of 71 runs (62 balls, 7×4, 2×6) and good bowling effort by Avesh Khan (4/60) was not enough as India Green went down by 25 runs against India Blue in the BCCI Under-19 Challengers Trophy match.

Batting first, India Blue scored 282/8 in 50 overs courtesy a brilliant century by Ricky Bhui (142 runs). In reply, India Green batsmen could not face a superb bowling spell  by Rahul Batham who walked away with 5 wickets and ensured his team won comfortably.
