Tournament : KSG YCC T20 tournament

Match : KSG Warriors Vs Giants

Result : Ksg warriors won by 5 wickets

In modern days it is not common to bowl first in a T20 match final. But that is what captain of Warriors did. He chose to field first in the final against Giants. Giants grabbed the opportunity with both hands scoring a seem-to-be a winning final score of 170 for 5 runs. Giant’s opener Manan Mehta top scored with 45 ball 65 runs and also carried his bat through. Harsh Parekh of Warriors took 2 valuable wickets.

The chase was amazing by warriors and justified their captains faith in chasing big totals.

Parth Mathuria was man of the moment. He scored quick fire 74 off just 32 balls taking the game away from the giants. The match went to the last over but Parth was there till the end and ensured Warriors win with 2 balls and 5 wickets to spare.

Parth was declared Man of the Match for a memorable final match performance.

Tournament : Dreamz 40 overs

Match : E Merck Sports Club Vs S S Travels

Result : E Merck won by 122 runs

In modern days when most of the matches are won by batsmen it s a good feeling when a bowler gets to be the Man of the Match.

Thats what happened in the Dreamz 40 overs match between E Merck Sports Club and SS Travels. E Merck Sports batting first scored 232 runs. Tushar Shinde top scored with 70 runs. Shekhar for SS Travels took 3 wickets.

SS Travels chase got off to a decent start. Once Varun was introduced in the bowling attack there was no stopping march of the SS Travels batsmen to the pavilion. During his spell of 6 overs, Varun took 6 wickets conceding just 24 runs.

Aptly Varun was declared Man of the Match for excellent bowling figures enabling his team Merck won by massive 122 runs against SS Travels.

Tournament : Dreamz Trophy T-20

Match : Diamond Brite Vs Ceat Tyres

Diamond brite batting first against Ceat tyres scored a massive 180 for the loss of 4 wickets. Diamond’s openers Vishal Jain and Bhupen Lalwani batted brilliantly posting a 100 + run partnership. Vishal scored 83 while Bhupen scored 68. Aniket for Ceat took 3 wickets for 22 runs.

Chasing 180 is never an easy task. But Ceat openers did a good job and showed ray of hope. The introduction of Kunal and true diamond, Bhupen changed the equation in Diamond’s favor as the pair accounted for 6 wickets, ending the Ceat innings well short by 65 runs.

Bhupen Lalwani was declared MoM for his all round show with the bat and the ball.

Tournament : Milan T-40 overs

Match : Ratnakar Bank Vs Bank Bazaar

Result: Ratnakar bank won by 66 runs

In another T-40 Milan match between Ratnakar bank and Bank Bazaar, Ratnakar Bank (RBL) chose bat first after winning the toss. RBL got off to a slow start, thanks to some tight bowling by Bank Bazaar bowlers. Abhishek Kadam changed the equation in batsman and RBLs favor with some hard hitting. He scored blazing 81 runs off just 43 balls posting a respectable  216 runs. Second top scorer in RBLs innings were the extras, amounting to a half century (52 to be precise).

In reply Bank bazaar innings never got going and they kept loosing wickets at regular intervals. Only bright spot in their innings was the opener batsman Mayank Desai’s knock of 49 runs off just 36 balls. Bank bazaar innings folded for 150 runs handing a good 66 runs victory to RBL. For RBL, Ronesh Raut was the star bowler plucking 5 wickets for just 25 runs. RBL bowlers conceded only 4 extras.

Abhishek Kadam was declared MoM.

Tournament : Milan 40 overs 2015-16 (click on link for tournament home)

Match : Automotive CC vs Lintas (click on link for match scorecard)

Result : Automotive won by 206 runs

Lintas’s decision to field first against Automotive was well rewarded by their opening bolwer Aniket Vaidya who got rid of both the openers for less than 20 runs on the board.

One down batsman Shivam Gharat had different plans in store. He came at a difficult time but batted patiently initially to put decent partnership with 2 down Kishan Ghosh. He was later joined by Chetan Dhingra who played some amazing strokes to propel Automotive’s inning. Towards the end of the innings Shivam too displayed his array of strokes completing his century in the process. Chetan was unlucky to miss out his century by just 10 runs. But his 64 balls 90 runs (6 X 4, 3 X 6) and Shivam’s 110 off 121 balls (11 X 4, 2 X 6) helped Automotive post 276 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their allotted 40 overs.

For Lintas, Aniket took 2 wickets but went for plenty of runs. In reply, Lintas folded out for a mere 70 runs with Arun Kelaskar top scoring with 22 runs. All bowlers were among wickets for Automotive. Gokul Patel took 3 wickets while Dharmendra Yadav, Sachin Sanghvi and Laxman took 2 wickets each.

Gharat was declared Man of the Match for his centurion efforts with the bat.

 

Mumbai elected to bat first after winning the toss in the Vijay Merchant U-16 tournament against Maharashtra.

Mumbai got off to a bad start, loosing Suved Parker and inform Arjun Tendulkar for less than 60 runs.  But 2 down and 3 downs for Mumbai, Yashasvi and Satyalaksh respectively got together and played brilliantly carrying their team to safety.

Yashasvi scored 92 hitting 11 fours and 3 sixes while Satyalaksh scored 93 hitting 14 boundaries. Unfortunately none of them could convert their knocks to centuries.  The first day ended with Mumbai at 297 for the loss of 7 wickets. For Maharashtra, Mohite took 3 wickets while Dongre and Aklujkar took 2 wickets each.  At the end of first days play Atharv Ankolkar and Tanvish Vaze were at the crease and Mumbai would hope their tail can wag a little more to post at least 350.

Tournament : Ushatai S. Patil and Dnyanraj Sports Cricket     Venue: Sonale Cricket Ground Bhiwandi

Match : KPCA A Vs. Kiran Salgaonkar SC

Result: KPCA A won by 194 runs

The first match of first season of the Ushatai S. Patil and Dnyanraj Sports Cricket Tournament saw emergence of 2 stars, one batsman and one bowler from the same team.

This tournament is being played at the newly developed Sonale Cricket Ground at Bhiwandi. Its organized by Kaustub Pawar Cricket Academy and sponsored by well known architect Sudhir Patil.

KPCA A chose to bat first in this opening match of this 40 over tournament. Highlight of KPCA batting was their opening batsman Shravan Jaiswar, who scored a brilliant nelson, 111 runs in just 90 balls, hitting 16 fours and 2 massive sixes. He was well supported by Ashok Yadav who scored 74 runs. Unfortunately KPCA A couldnt bat out their full quota of 40 overs and were all out for 294 runs in 38 overs. Sai and Vineet took 2 wickets each for Kiran SC.

In reply, the Salgaonkar club couldnt face another star of the day, Firoz Hasmi. They could manage only 100 runs and were all out in the 22nd over. Kunkesh Patil top scored with 36 runs but except him there was not much batting. Firoz took 5 wickets conceding only 21 runs in his 5 overs.

Tournament : Corporate Cricket Bash season 2      Venue : Air India Kalina, Mumbai

Final match : Mumbai Police Vs. Arbuda Agro Chemicals

Result : Mumbai Police won by 22 runs

The much anticipated final between Mumbai Police and Arbuda Agro Chemicals was played on Sunday night at Air India ground, Mumbai. Along with stars from both teams the occasion was also graced by bollywood stars Suniel Shetty and Sohail Khan.

Mumbai Police batted first. Its always a good strategy to put runs on the board in the final match. Thats what Mumbai Police tried doing. They did not target a huge score but a decent score and batted accordingly. None of the batsman could reach a half century due to some tight bowling by Arbuda team. But Mumbai Police ensured scoreboard kept ticking all the time.

All Top order batsmen contributed scoring at least 20 runs. Mahesh of Mumbai Police top scored 37 off 23 balls while P Sunil scored patient 36 at run a ball. Mumbai Police managed a good score of 154 for 4 wickets. Arbuda captain Mukesh Patel was the star bowler for Arbuda picking up 2 wickets conceding only 24 runs off his 4 overs.

Lot of hope were dependent on batsman in form Ankit Shastri ( who recently hit massive 170+ in T20 match). But to disappointment of all, Ankit only managed a score of 16 before he got out to A. Prashant. Despite losing him early Arbuda gave a good fight but fell short by 22 runs. Yogesh took 3 wickets while pankaj took 2 wickets for Mumbai Police.

Tournament : Woods T-20 Mega corporate challenge 2015-16

Match between : Hindustand Unilever and Piramal Enterprises

Result: Hindustan Unilever won by 10 wickets

In what turned out to be absolute one sided contest between 2 corporate, Hindustan Unilever and Piramal Enterprises, Sachin Kawade impressed one and all with his master strokeplay.

Piramal chose to bat first. Due to fine knocks by Amol and Gaurang they put up a decent total of 132 for 7 in their 20 overs. Gaurang remained unbeaten on 53. Ashwath took 3 wickets for Hindustan.

Hindustan made an easy lunch of this total and chased down the target in the 14th over. They did not loose a wicket in the process. Sachin Kawade was the dominant partner. He scored 98 runs in 54 balls while his partner faced 32 balls for his 21 runs. Sachin missed his century but gave an easy win to his team.

Final of 15th D.R.A.C.T. 2015-2016 (Dronacharya Ramakant Achrekar Cricket Tournament) which is now also renowned as Mumbai Under-14 Selection Tournament in alliance with Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) organized by CPCC (Chandrakant Pandit Cricket Clinic) was played between Payyade SC & Amar CC on 17th & 18th November at Venus Sports Academy Goregaon West.

After winning the Toss, Amar CC elected to bat first and they set a total of 281 for Payyade SC with the help of 3rd wkt. Partnership of 74 runs (between Suryansh S. 70 (4×8) & Abhishek W. 46 (4×7)) and 10th wkt. Partnership of 94 runs (between Vatsal S. 57* (4×7) & Soham S. 33 (4×4)). At one stage, Amar CC collapsed to 186/9 from 124/3 after the effective bowling performance from Payyade SC Captain Left Arm Spinner  Musheer Khan 5/68 and Right Arm Leg Spinner Siddhesh Jadhav (2/31). Chasing a Target of 281, Payyade SC ended the score with 183/4 on final day of the game. From Payyade SC star batsmen in Final game were Ayush J. (51 (4×8), Siddhesh Jadhav 62* (4×11). Since Payyade SC had better Quotient compared to  Amar CC, Payyade SC were declared as Winners. Siddhesh Jadhav was declared Player of the finals considering his all round performance in the game.

Prize Distribution Ceremony was conducted on 28th November’2015 at CPCC, Hansraj Morarji Public School Ground, Andheri West in presence of Guest of Honour Dr. P. V. Shetty (Jt. Hon. Secretary M.C.A.), Chief Guest Shreyas Iyer (Mumbai Ranji Player & IPL DD team Member), Arvind Kadam (Secretary – MCA Tournament Committee), Rajesh Sutar (Chairman – MCA U-14 Selection Committee)

Mani Iyer (Chairman Tournament & Organising Committee (DRACT) – CPCC) expressed his sincere gratitude towards all the Guests, MCA Members, Selectors, Coaches, Players of Participating Teams, Sponsors, Media on the successful conclusion of the tournament as this tournament gives U-14 Cricketers a Platform to Show Case their talent and during the same time, a base for MCA to look at Young Cricketers they can groom for future.
