Piramal Enterprise faced Capgemini on 6th Feb at Cross Maidan, Mumbai in the Milan 40 over cricket tournament. Piramal won the toss and elected to bat first. They posted 146-9 in 40 overs, courtesy an unbeaten knock of 31 by Stenly and useful contributions from Jayesh Shinde (28) and Shrikant Parab (28). Sai Kumar bowled exceedingly well for Capgemini picking up 3-18 in his six overs.
In reply, Capgemini completely outplayed Pirmala scoring 147-3 in just 17 overs. Vivekanand Ade (57 runs off 39 balls) scored a quick-fire half century and was well-supported by Aditya Mhatre who remained unbeaten on 46 runs which came off just 32 balls. Dilip Agarwal was the pick of the bowlers for Piramal as he grabbed 2-25 in his three overs.
Sai Kumar of Capgemini was honoured with the Man of the Match award for his fantastic bowling efforts (3-18).
Mumbai locked horns against Maharashtra on 6th Feb at MCA ground, BKC in the West Zone U-23 women’s cricket tournament match. Having won the first two matches, Mumbai was high on confidence when they came out to bat against a strong Maharashtra team. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Mumbai was bundled out for 211 just inside 50 overs. Opening bat-wicketkeeper Hemali Borwankar (79) played an anchor’s role and top scored for Mumbai. Mugdha Joshi (36) and Humaira Kazi (34) contributed in the middle order and helped Mumbai cross the 200-run mark. Devika Vaidya was the pick of the bowlers for Maharashtra as she finished off with the figures of 4-32.
In reply, Maharashtra got off to a good start, courtesy a 59 run opening partnership. After shining with the ball, Devika Vaidya (109) proved her worth when she single handedly took her team home with an unbeaten century. Humaira Kazi was the pick of the bowlers picking up 2-40 in her 10 overs.
Mumbai face Gujarat in its last match of the tournament on 8th Feb at Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana, Kandivli.
Transformers clashed against Chintamani at Yashwant Nagar Ground, Mumbai, on 6th Feb in the on-going Friends Premier League (FPL) T20 tournament. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Transformers set a modest target of 112 runs for Chintamani. Ganpat Warang top scored with 27 runs and received good support from opening batsmen Hardik Shah (20) and Amit Bhakti (25). Mihir Shah rattled the Transformers batting line-up with 3-26 in his four overs.
It was a cake walk for Chintamani to chase down 112 runs. They finished off the game in style in 16.1 overs, keeping six wickets in hand. Balkrishna Pujari (64) scored a wonderful half century and helped his team to achieve the target. Ganpat Warang (2-29) was the pick of the bowlers for Transformers.
For his brilliant match winning knock of 64 runs, Balkrishna Pujari of Chintamani was bestowed with the Man of the Match award.
GN Khalsa College faced Jai Hind College in the inter-collegiate cricket tournament match on 3rd Feb at Shivaji Park. Batting first, Khalsa posted a mammoth total of 411-5 in 42 overs. As Jai Hind could not bowl the full 45 overs in stipulated timeframe, Khalsa was awarded with 70 runs as a result. Aditya Suryavanshi scored a brilliant century (103*) and was well-supported by Viraj Chalke (83) and Rushikesh Padwal (61). A fantastic batting display by Khalsa helped them to put on board such a huge total. Dhiren and Aniket managed to pick up two wickets each for Jai Hind.
In reply, Jai Hind was bundled out for a paltry 93 in 28 overs. Jai Hind’s skipper Paras top scored with 40 runs. Viraj Chalke was the pick of the bowlers as he grabbed three wickets for Khalsa.
A new city wide initiative started by Adidas under the banner of Adidas uprising has reached the Mumbai shores after witnessing a massive success in Delhi. This initative will see almost 14 different sports being organized in Mumbai.
The cricket tournament to be played by both tennis and leather ball will kick start this weekend from 6th Feb 2016 at multiple venues. Tournament was thrown open for everyone and anyone who wished to participate and enjoy a game of cricket .

Chandu Borde T20 Cricket Cup – an invitational cricket tournament which is quite popular all over india is currently in its 5th year. Right from its first year it is organized by Mr. Shashi Kate an avid cricket lover from Pune who also runs an NGO by the name of Shashi Kate Sports & Social Service Association.
“We organize this tournament under the name of Mr. Chandu Borde, an ex-Indian test player who hails from our Pune city and organizing this tournament is a way of giving back to the society and the game of cricket” , said Mr. Kate while speaking to cricketgraph.com. “Till date we have not had any sponsors for this tournament. Though we are approached by many sponsors every year, Ideally I would like to see some big corporate single handedly owning up or taking up the complete sponsorships instead of multiple sponsors”
This tournament usually receives a lot of inquiries from teams all over India , from as far as Jammu & Kashmir to Bangalore. Tournament participation is usually decided by the management depending on the quality of players mainly from good corporate teams to maintain the discipline and competitiveness of the tournament.

Mumbai faced Baroda on 3rd Feb at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy, BKC, in the on-going Women’s Cricket U-23 Zonal League One Day tournament. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Mumbai posted a formidable total of 231-8 in 50 overs, courtesy twin half centuries scored by Humaira Kazi (64) and Shweta Haranhalli (57). Both these batswomen played some aggressive cricket, piercing the gaps with spectacular precision. Gayatri Naik and Nancy Patel were the pick of the bowlers for Baroda grabbing couple of wickets apiece.
Chasing 232 runs in 50 overs was not going to be a cake walk and Mumbai bowlers did just what the doctor had asked for. They bundled out Baroda for 145 in 41.1 overs, thus winning the match comprehensively by 86 runs. Palak Patel (51) and Tarannum Pathan (48) played well but failed to take their team home. It was an all-round effort from Mumbai, with Manali Dakshini and Fatima Jaffer picking up two wickets each.

Mumbai girls locked horns against Saurashtra on 2nd Feb at Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana, Kandivli, Mumbai, in the on-going West Zone U-23 cricket tournament. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Mumbai posted a defendable total of 189 in 50 overs, thanks to a brilliant half century scored by the opening bat Hemali Borwankar (57). She received good support from Vrushali Bhagat (43) and Sayali Satghare (30), who chipped in for Mumbai. Tanya Rao and Pooja Nimavat picked up couple of wickets apiece for Saurashtra.
In reply, Saurashtra was bundled out for a paltry 81 in 33.4 overs, thus losing the match by a huge margin of 108 runs. Saurashtra skipper Bhakti shastri remained unbeaten on 41, however she was the lone fighter for the team. Manali Dakshini (2-24) and Sayali Satghare (2-17) rattled the Saurashtra top order and received good backing from Jemimah Rodrigues (3-7) towards the end.

VFCL locked horns against Highflyers on 31st Jan 2016 at Yashwant Nagar Ground, Mumbai, in the on-going Friends Premiere League (FPL) T20 tournament. VFCL won the toss and asked Highflyers to bat first. Niranjan Tungare was the star performer for Highflyers as he scored a brilliant 76 off just 47 balls, hitting five boundaries and three maximums. He received good support from Bharat Singh who played well for his 34. Rishabh Singh was the pick of the bowlers for VFCL as he finished off with the figures of 3-23 in his three overs.
In response, VFCL was restricted to 150-8 in 20 overs, courtesy Chandan Jha’s splendid bowling efforts of 3-30 in four overs. Arsalan Shaikh top scored with 62 runs off just 48 balls, however his half century went in vain, as his team fell short of15 runs.
Niranjan Tungare was bestowed with the Man of the Match award for his match winning knock of 76 runs.
TC Challengers faced off Chintamani on 30th Jan 2016 at Yashwant Nagar ground, Mumbai, in the on-going Friends Premiere League (FPL) T20 competition. Batting first, TC Challengers posted a formidable 173-9 in their full quota of 20 overs. Kaushal Modi was the star performer for Challengers as he scored a quick-fire 65 off just 38 balls, hitting seven boundaries and three sixes. Rojer (31) and Ganesh Patil (24) chipped in with the bat for their team. Mihir Shah was the pick of the bowlers for Chintamani as he grabbed four wickets.
In reply, Challengers restricted Chintamani 163-7 in 20 overs, thus falling short of 10 runs. Sundaresan’s half century (56) at the top of the order went in vain as his team could not chase the target successfully. Gautam Patkar (48) was the other batsman who played well for Chintamani. Rojer shined with the ball as well for Challengers as he accounted for three wickets.
Kaushal Modi was awarded with the Man of the Match prize for his match-winning knock of 65 runs.
