Riding on Faizan’s half century, JLT posted a defendable 119 runs on board in 20 overs against Yes Bank on 13th Feb at National Cricket Club ground, Mumbai in the on-going Dreamz T20 tournament. Faizan who scored a quick 64 off just 50 balls anchored the JLT innings well, helping his team cross the 100-run mark. Siddhesh was the pick of the bowlers for Yes Bank as he finished off with the figures of 2-18 in his four overs.
Yes Bank had a bad day at work when JLT skittled it out for a dismal 99 in 16.4 overs, courtesy Nikhil, Rudolf and Pritish brilliant bowling in tandem. They rattled the Yes Bank batting order as they grabbed two wickets apiece. Opening bat Yogesh top scored with 20 runs but that was not just good enough to take his team home.
Faizan was declared as the Man of the Match for his match winning knock of 64 runs which came in 50 deliveries.
Smashtrees Champions League kicked off on a thumping note when Aarish Zadi (108 runs off 100 balls) of Baba Tiles hit a magnificent century in the match against Subhaniya on 15th Feb at Smashtrees Ground, Delhi. Opening the innings for his team, Aarish played some good positive cricket and took on the Subhaniya bowlers right from the word go. He found an able ally in Sarthak Rajan (44), who stitched a beautiful 103-run partnership with Aarish. Baba Tiles put on board 228-5 in 35 overs. Sahaa John, though expensive was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 2-47 in his seven overs.
Subhaniya started off well, however could not capitalize on it. Skipper Sohrabh scored 48 runs off 42 balls but failed to take him team home. Subhaniya was bundled for 214 in 33.2 overs, thus losing the match by 14 runs. Vikram and Navandhu grabbed couple of wickets apiece, not allowing the Subhaniya batsmen to run away with the game. Aarish who shined with the bat, picked up one wicket as well.
Aarish Zadi was declared as the Man of the Match for his all-round performance (108 runs and 1-19).
FSS XI was bundled out for a paltry 137 in 20 overs against Deutsche Bank on 13th Feb at M.B. Union ground, Mumbai in the final match of The Dreamz Corporate T20 tournament. Coming down at number 8, Ravi Lakka’s batting brilliance helped FSS cross the 100-run mark. Ravi scored a quick 40 off just 25 balls, bringing smiles in FSS’s dug out. Rahul Jain of Deutsche Bank was good with the ball as he finished off with the figures of 3-24 in his four overs.
On any other day, chasing 138 in 20 overs would be an ordinary task. But when it comes to the final match, it is the nerves that need to be tamed. FSS held on to its nerves as they just restricted Deutsche Bank to 134 runs, thus winning the nail biting contest by three runs. Nikhil Vanekar’s (54) half century went in vain as Omkar Pandeshwar rattled the Deutsche Bank batting line up, picking 4-24 in four overs.

Omkar Pandeshwar was bestowed with the Man of the Match award for his splendid bowling efforts.



Abhishek Jhunjhunwala top scored for Viraat against HMV Sports at Smashtrees ground, Delhi on 13th Feb in the on-going T20 Corporate Cricket League. Winning the toss and electing to bowl first HMV restricted Viraat to 151 in 20 overs. Anurag was the pick of the bowlers, grabbing 2-25 in four overs.
A blistering knock from Rahul (65 runs off 33 balls) put HMV in driver’s seat. They chased down the target in just 16.2 overs. Rahul’s unbeaten knock was the stand-out performance of the day. He was at his very best and received good bit of support from Vibhor (39) and Pradeep (23).
Rahul was awarded with the Man of the Match trophy for his match winning knock of 65 runs which came in just 33 deliveries.
Aakash Patil (62 runs off 37 balls) of Rika was the stand-out performer when his team amassed a mammoth total of 178-6 in 20 overs against SNS Securities on 14th Feb at Cross Maidan in the knock-out match of Mega Corporate T20 League. Aakash smacked the bowlers all-round the park and received good support from opening bat Monu Chauhan (33) and middle order bat Akshat Doshi (26). Rika was accused of bad running between the wickets as they had three run-outs in their innings.
SNS Securities fell short of 20 runs as they were restricted to 158-6 in their full quota of 20 overs. Santosh was excellent with the bat as he scored a quick-fire 45 off just 28 balls and remained unbeaten at the end of the innings. Rika bowled exceedingly not allowing SNS to run away with the game. Shubham was the pick of the bowlers as he grabbed 3-15 in his three overs.
Aakash Patil was declared as the Man of the Match for his splendid knock of 62 runs off just 37 balls.

It was a nail biting finish at Fort Vijay Ground, Mumbai, when Bank of America chased down the innocuous target of 121 runs set up by WNS, keeping three wickets in hand, to win the Dreamz Corporate T20 tournament (Plate Group B). Batting first, WNS posted a paltry 120-7 in 20 overs. Opening bat Dnyansagar Patil (38)

top scored for his team and received good support from the middle order batsman Umesh Salgaonkar who scored a quick-fire 36 off just 27 balls. Navin Kamat was the pick of the bowlers for Bank of America as he finished off with the figures of 3-23 in his three overs.
Chasing 120 odd runs could sometimes get tricky if you are playing a final match. It was not an easy job on hand for Bank of America, as they lost seven wickets to achieve the target. They managed to win the game of the very last ball, which makes it evident that the final match went down the wire. The Bank of America batting revolved around Navin Kamat (27), who ensured that his team was home safely. Sandeep bowled well for his 3-20 in his four overs and was well-backed up Dnyansagar Patil (2-18 in four overs).
Though WNS lost the match and ended with runners-up title, they had something to cheer about as Dnyansagar Patil was declared as the Man of the Match for his excellent all-round performance. The other awards announced were; Best Bowler to Kawaljeet Kalra, Best Batsman to Milap Achrekar and Man of the Series to Navin Kamat, all of Bank of America.

The final match of Goregaon Sports Club Premier League 2016 was played on 7th Feb, Super Sunday at Goregaon Sports Club (GSC) between GSC Strikers and GSC Warriors. It was a cracker of a contest and the atmosphere was electrifying at the GSC. GSC Warriors won the toss and asked the GSC Strikers to bat first. The Warriors bowled extremely well and bundled out the Strikers for a paltry 116 in 19.4 overs. Sunil Bhutoria was the pick of the bowlers as he grabbed 3-13 in his two overs. Along with Hemal Dave (2-15) and Ravinder Matharu (2-13), Bhutoria bowled nicely in tandem, thus helping Warriors to rattle the Strikers cheaply. Opening bat Kinshuk Rai top scored with a patient 32 which came off 34 balls, however had no backing from his fellow teammates.
In reply, it was a smooth sail for GSC Warriors as they chased down the target in 17.1 overs, keeping five wickets in hand. It was a wonderful team effort from Warriors as all the batsmen chipped in to see their team home. Sunil Dewali struck 2-27 in his four overs, but the Warriors were too good to let the match go. In the end, it was GSC Warriors who had the last laugh as they clinched the Goregaon Sports Club Premier League 2016 Cup.
Sunil Bhutoria of GSC Warriors was declared as the Man of the Match and Tusshar Uchil of GSC Riders as the Man of the Series. The other award rendered were, Best Bowler to Mukul Agarwal (GSC Riders), Best Batsman to Dhun Somaiya (GSC Chargers) and the Runners-up team to GSC Riders.





Mumbai girls had applied the top gear right from the start and were oozing with confidence when they faced Gujarat at Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana, Kandivli, in the last match of Inter-Zonal Women’s U-23 cricket tournament on Monday. Scoring 300 plus runs in a women’s domestic game is a rare commodity, however Mumbai, who won the toss and elected to bat first, played an all-together different cricket. They were aggressive, they were ruthless and they just tore apart the Gujarat bowling attack. The opening pair of Hemali Borwankar (116) and Jemimah Rodrigues (101) left everybody speechless, thanks to their wonderful batting performance. Both the openers scored magnificent centuries, which came in quick time as well. A few cameos towards the end and Mumbai saw itself crossing the formidable 300-run mark. The Gujarat bowlers looked listless as they had no answers for Mumbai’s blitzkrieg.
After being hammered brutally, Gujarat was low on confidence. Mumbai bowlers struck the iron when it was hot and rattled the Gujarat batting line up for a paltry 97, winning the match by a mammoth margin of 230 runs. Saima Thakore, who played her first game of the tournament, made the most of the opportunity as she picked up 4-15 in her 10 overs. Jemimah Rodrigues (3-19), Manashree Gavande (2-23) and Humaira Kazi (1-2) were the other bowlers among wickets.
Apart from their loss to Maharashtra on Saturday, Mumbai girls have looked in good touch. Having won three out of four matches, they emerged as the West Zone U-23 champions with 12 points. They have played well as a team and have certainly reaped the sweet fruits of their hard work.

Friends Premier League (FPL) saw yet another exciting game of cricket at Yashwant Nagar Ground, Mumbai on 7th Feb, when Spartans took on VFCL. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Spartans put on board 101 runs in 20 overs, courtesy Arnab’s brilliant knock of 42 runs. Pratik Patade was the pick of the bowlers who grabbed 2-22 in his four overs. His disciplined bowling efforts yielded wickets for him.
VFCL had an easy chase as they raced to the target in just 9.3 overs. VFCL was aggressive in its approach and looked to finish off the game as early as they could. Praful Tambe top scored with 30 runs and received good support from Arsalan Shaikh (23) and Pratik Patade (20*). Pratik Patade was the star performer for VFCL and helped his team to win the game in style.
A match winning all-round performance deserved to be awarded and rightly so was Pratik Patade was declared as the Man of the Match.

Indian Oil locked horns against Pratham Sports on 7th Feb in the final match of Chandu Borde Cup that was played in Pune. Pratham Sports won the toss and elected to field first. Indian Oil put up a handsome total of 206-5 in their full quota of 20 overs, courtesy splendid half centuries from Wasim Jaffer (62 runs off 52 balls) and Rohan Raje (79 runs off 25 balls). Both these batsmen remained unbeaten and were a treat to watch. They smacked the Pratham Sports’ bowlers all-round the park with delightful ease. Anant Tambvekar was the pick of the bowlers as he grabbed 3-27 in his four overs.
Chasing a daunting target of 206 runs was a Herculean task. Pratham Sports came out strong and played some positive cricket. Opening bat Swapnil Salvi top scored for his team with 71 runs off just 48 balls. He received good support from other batsmen and together they helped Pratham Sports achieve the target. Murtuza Hussain picked up three wickets in his four overs but went for a plenty as he gave away 55 runs. Rohan Raje and Rakesh Prabhu rolled their arms over to pick up couple of wickets apiece. In the end, it went down till the last ball, when Pratham Sports managed to score 208-9 in 20 overs.
Swapnil Salvi of Pratham Sports was declared as the Man of the Match and Rohan Raje of Indian Oil as the Man of the Series.
