Mumbai, March 11: Our Own Club inspired by the combined efforts of opening batsman Nishant Kamble 83 runs and off-spinner Aniket Kshirsagar 3 wickets for 23 runs defeated Young Men’s Cricket Club by 34 runs in the final of the Mumbai Cricket Association organized President Cup T20 cricket tournament for Division E, F & G teams, and played at the MCA cricket ground, BKC on Saturday.

Choosing to bat first, Our Own CC bolstered by Kamble’s 57-balls knock which contained four well-struck boundaries and five solid hits over the fence reached 189 for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Besides Kamble’s top-score, Prasad Rahate and Prakash Aswani contributed 41 and 31 runs respectively to lift the innings. Young Men’s CC best bowling effort came from Amey Agashe who took 3 wickets for 25.

In reply, Young Men’s CC started their chase in positive fashion as the opening batsmen Vinish Philips 74 runs (55-balls, 4×4,4×6) and Omkar Mainkar 44 laid the foundation  as the duo put together a 97-run association for the first wicket. But, thereafter the remaining Young Men batsmen threw away their wickets cheaply and their innings closed at 155 for 8 wickets from the quota of 20 overs. Kshirsagar received good support from left-arm spinner Prasad Rahate 2 for 34 and medium pacer Chirag Amin 2 for 43 to ensure their team emerged champions.

Mumbai, March 10: Middle-order batsman Agni Chopra’s dashing unbeaten knock  of 97 runs (57-balls, 5×4, 8×6) and Saurabh Bahutule’s impressive bowling 3 for 34 was the highlights of Nirlon Sports Club’s close 10-run win against Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital in a first round match of the RCF T20 cricket tournament for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup 2023, organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited under the auspices of the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and played at the RCF Colony ground, Chembur on Friday.

Chopra was associated in two useful partnerships, putting together 90 runs for the fourth wicket with Amogh Bhatkal 44 runs (28-balls, 5×4,1×6). Later, Chopra along with Moin Khan 27 added 53 runs for the sixth wicket as the Nirlon innings closed at 202 for 7 wickets from the stipulated 20 overs. Pratik Patade (2 for 28) and Onkar Jadhav (2 for 47) were Nanavati’s successful bowlers.

In reply, Nanavati Hospital were positive in their chase as number 4 bat Bins Neyyoth 57 runs (33-balls, 1×4,5×6) and opener Onkar Jadhav 38 runs (24-balls, 4×4,1×6) helped put up a good fight. But, Bahutale with excellent support from Salman Khan (2 for 38) put the brakes on the Nanavati Hospital scoring restricting them to just 192 for 8 wickets from their quota of 20 overs to snatch a tight win.

Later, Omkar Ghule’s match-winning all-round performances was the feature of DTDC Express Ltd’s  27-run win against Mafatlal Cricket Club in another first round match.

Batting first, DTDC Express made 159 for 8 wickets in 18 overs (Krunal Nar* c A Beloshe b M Swaminathan 32, Karansinh Nandey c A Singh b M Swaminathan 32, Puneet Tripathi  21, Rohit Singh 20; Omkar Ghule 3 for 23, Maxwell Swaminathan 2 for 24, Saksham Parashar 2 for 33). DTDC Express Ltd 186 for 6 wickets, 18 overs and then they bowled well to restrict Mafatlal CC to 159 for 8 wickets from the stipulated 18 overs.

Mumbai, March 9: Kaushal Valsangkar’s cracking century knock 101 runs (48-balls, 15×4, 2×6) helped Mumbai Port Trust snatch a narrow 7-run win against AG (L&R) in a first round match of the RCF T20 cricket tournament for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup 2023, organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited under the auspices of the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and played at the RCF Colony ground, Chembur on Thursday.

Mumbai Port Trust batting first lost five wickets in reaching a substantial total of 209 runs in 20 overs. Besides Valsangkar’s ton the others who helped lift the total was Dashrath Chavan who scored n uneaten 45 runs and Vedprakash Jaiswal 31 runs.

Later, the Mumbai Port Trust bowlers bowled well to restrict AG (L&R) Club to 202 runs for the loss of 8 wickets from their 20 overs to snatch a tense win. The top order batsmen made good contributions with Bravish Shetty scoring a 27-ball 62 runs Bhavesh Patel 44 runs, Rohan Gajjar an unbeaten 36* and Nikhil Patil 34 runs, but all their efforts went in vain.

In another match, Repro India Limited registered a 47-run wictory against hosts RCF Ltd. SC to move to the second round. Repro India were dismissed for 209 runs in 19.4 overs and then they contained the RCF batsmen who could only score 162 runs for 7 wickets from their quota of 20 overs.

Mumbai: Payyade Sports Club and Sportsfield Cricket Club registered victories in their first round matches of the 1st MCA Women’s Cricket League.

Payyade SC defeated Matunga Gymkhana by a comfortable 39 runs at the latter’s ground on Wednesday. Sportsfield CC easily defeated Dashing Sports Club by 6 wickets at the Cross Maidan.

Riding on the steady batting efforts of Kritika Yadav 54 runs and Ayushi Singh 43 runs Payyade Sports Club scored 141 runs for 6 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Payyade then restricted  Matunga Gymkhana to 102 runs for 6 wickets from their stipulated 20 overs to clinch the win. Ankita Gaikar was the leading scorer with 33 runs.

Batting first, Dashing Sports Club were dismissed for 117 runs in 18.5 overs. Lalita Yadav scored 30 runs while Sportsfield’s Fatima Firdaus claimed 4 wickets for 13 runs. In reply, Sportsfield CC comfortably reached 118 for 4 wickets in 15.2 overs. Punam Raut and Krithika Krishnakumar scored 42 and 34 runs respectively to steer the team to victory.

Mumbai, March 8: Rugved More’s aggressive batting scored an unbeaten 76 runs which carried Space Sports Club to a close 2-wicket win against Mumbai Police Gymkhana in a first round match of the RCF T20 cricket tournament for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup 2023, organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited under the auspices of the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and played at the RCF Colony ground, Chembur on Wednesday.

Electing to field first, Space CC bowlers were tight and contained the Mumbai Police batsmen before middle-order bat Rohit Pol scored a quick 33-ball 69 runs and studded with three boundaries and seven sixes. Pol’s knock helped Mumbai Police reach 159 runs for the loss of eight wickets from their stipulated 20 overs. Opener Sunil Patil scored a patient 23 runs while Space CC bowlers Shubham Giri (2 for 24) and Vikas Singh (2 for 38) picked up the wickets.

In reply, Space CC encountered some setback but More stayed firm during his match-winning knock to enable his team surpass the target reaching 162 for 8 wickets in 18.3 overs. Besides More’s contribution Gautam Waghela scored 27 runs, while the fine bowling performance from Pankaj Pardeshi (4 for 14) went in vain.

Mumbai: Fort Youngsters opening batswomen Janhvi Kate unbeaten 185 runs (70-balls, 35x4s,4x6s), Riya Chaudhari unbeaten 111 runs  (53-balls, 18x4s) and Rajwadi CC’s opener Kshama Patekar unbeaten 161 runs (73-balls, 25x4s, 4x6s) stole the thunder on the opening day of the 1st MCA Women’s Cricket League, and played at the Cross Maidan on Wednesday.

The Fort Youngsters proved too strong for Mandavi Muslims CC and charged to a 194 runs win. Rajwadi CC packed too much power against Prabhu Jolly Young Cricketers and romped to a massive 251 runs victory.

In low-scoring matches, Glorious CC defeated Dr. D.Y. Patil SA by a comfortable 10 wickets and S.K.P. Athletics Club scored a 9-wicket win against Shree Matunga Gujarati Seva Mandal.

Mumbai, March 8: The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) provided plenty of cheer for women cricketers on the occasion of ‘Women’s Day’, as they launched the 1st MCA Women’s League 2022-2023. Chief Guest, Sulakshana Naik, a former Indian cricketer and now an active BCCI CAC member inaugurated the MCA Women’s League at the Karnatak Sporting Association ground, Cross Maidan on Wednesday morning.

Present at the opening function was MCA, Vice-President, Sanjay Naik, Secretary, Ajinkya Naik, Joint Secretary, Deepak Patil, Apex Council Members, MCA Women’s selectors and administrators.

Naik, who is also participating in this tournament guiding a young Bharat Cricket Club, was excited and pleased that women and young girls are getting a chance to play competitive cricket.

“I am honored to be invited as Chief Guest for the inauguration of the 1st MCA Women’s League. I would first like to thank MCA for starting this League and was overwhelmed with the response from the players and clubs. It’s amazing that 52 clubs, with almost 800 players, participating, shows that women’s cricket in Mumbai is growing,” the Indian stumper Naik said before declaring the tournament open.

“This MCA Women’s League is starting just four days after the WPL commenced and I believe that is a great opportunity for all the young Mumbai players. You have to work hard, be sincere and try your best and you will definitely succeed. We all have dreams to play for India, but to play for the country is like a high mountain to climb. If you have self belief, train and practice properly and stay focused. If you can follow this you will easily climb to the top,” was her advice to the players.

Meanwhile, MCA Secretary Naik was happy that the association is giving women cricketers a big boost. “The MCA always strives for the development and promotion of cricket in Mumbai. For men and boys there are opportunities to play as there are many domestic tournaments conducted either by our association or by institutions, gymkhanas and private clubs. But for the women there are not many tournaments. To strengthen the grassroots levels and women’s cricket, is the main reason why our MCA Apex Council decided to have a Cricket League for women. It must be noted that MCA is the first cricket association in the country to conduct a club-level Women Cricket League,” Naik mentioned.

“This tournament, which will be played on similar lines like the Dr. H.D. Kanga League for men, would give young girls an opportunity to showcase their skills and talent. The team of MCA women selectors would be watching the matches and the players’ performances would not go unnoticed. The women cricketers, especially the younger ones, should take advantage of this opportunity as it would give them the experience and confidence to play more competitively, Naik added.”

Mumbai, March 7: Teleperformance DIBS comfortably cleared the first round hurdle defeating Dharamji Morarji CC by 110 runs in the opening match of the RCF T20 cricket tournament for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup 2023, organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited under the auspices of the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and played at the RCF Colony ground, Chembur on Monday.

Sent in to bat Teleperformance powered by the half century knocks from Rounaq Sharma 70 runs and Harsh Mogaveera 51 runs piled up a challenging total of 215 for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Facing a stiff target, Dharamji Morarji batter struggled against the disciplined opponents bowling and were dismissed for 105 all out in 15 overs.

Earlier, Chief Guest, former Indian woman cricketer, Sulakshana Naik along with Shriniwas C. Mudgrikar, CMD RCF and in presence of MCA Secretary, Ajinkya Naik, Joint Secretary, Deepak Patil, Apex Council member, Abhay Hadap and RCF Cricket Secretary, Sunil Kulkarni, inaugurated the tournament.

Opener Mogaveera provided Teleperformance with a solid start scoring runs rapidly and his innings came from just 22 balls with seven boundaries and two sixes. Later, middle-order bat Sharma was aggressive and cracked four hits to the ropes and five towering sixes during his 36-ball knock. Siddharth Vekariya further boosted the innings making a sedate 40 runs (28-balls, 2x4s) while Jagdish Jadhav (2 for 37) was the Dharamji Morarji’s best bowler.

Later, the Teleperformance bowlers were menacing from the start and picked wickets at regular intervals to send Dharamji Morarji crashing to defeat. Sudeep Phatak top-scored with 24 runs while Siddharth Kheni (3 for 16), Darshan Mangukiya (2 for 14), Akshay Darekar (2 for 19) and Aayush Raghuvanshi (2 for 30) were responsible to picking the wickets.

Mumbai, March 7: The Mumbai Cricket Association in its sustained endeavour to promote and encourage women cricketers will be organizing the 1st MCA Women’s League 2022-2023, which will commence on the occasion of ‘Women’s Day’, Wednesday, March 8, 2023. MCA is the first association in the country to conduct a cricket league for women cricketers at club level.

An overwhelming number of approximately 780 cricketers representing 52 teams will be participating in this inaugural edition of this tournament.

The 52 teams have been divided into 13 groups of 4 teams each and the initial rounds would be played on a league basis. A total of 26 matches would be played on every match day during the initial three rounds. The top teams from each group, and three of the best second placed teams, depending on points and net run-rate, would qualify for the pre-quarter-finals on 29th March.

The quarter-finals and semi-finals will be played on 5th April and the final is scheduled to be held on 12th April.

Former Indian women cricketer Sulakshana Naik has consented to be the Chief Guest and Indian cricketer Jemima Rodrigues will be Guest of Honour at the opening ceremony at the Karnatak Sporting Association ground, Cross Maidan on Wednesday morning at 8.30 am.

Mumbai, March 5: Sixteen leading teams will be participating in the annual RCF T20 cricket tournament for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup 2023, organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited under the auspices of the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and to be played at the picturesque RCF Colony ground, Chembur from March 6 to 20, 2023.

This tournament organized for ‘B Division’ teams will be played as per the MCA rules and guidelines. The format of the tournament will be a direct knockout and all the matches will be played according to the model rules of MCA relating to the conduct of the Cricket Tournaments.

This is a knockout tournament and two matches will be played on all match days. The first game will commence at 9.00am followed by the second from 2.00pm. The two semi-finals contests will be played on March 16 and March 17, and the grand finale on Monday, March 20.

The champions will be presented with the prestigious Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup and a cash award of Rs 75,000, while the losing finalists will receive the runners-up trophy and a cash prize of Rs 50,000. In addition there would awards for the ‘Man of the Series’, Best Batsman, Best Bowler and Best Fielder. ‘Man of the Match’ prizes will be awarded at every match.

Former Indian women cricketer Sulakshana Naik, will be the Chief Guest at the opening ceremony function and inaugurate the tournament on Monday, March 6 at 9.00 am.

RCF had last conducted this tournament in 2019 and could not conduct the tournament in the last couple of years due to Covid-19 pandemic.

AUCTIONS
