GEBS thrashed Sodexo on 25th March in what turned out to be a one sided affair on Azad Maidan, Mumbai during the JD Sports Club Corporate T20 Cricket Tournament. Jitendra Deshmukh, who was a player first, then coach and umpire is the man behind this tournament. He has different feathers to his cricketing cap.

Batting first GEBS posted a challenging 149-7 in 20 overs, thanks to some useful contribution s in the middle order from Bins Neyoth (32), Vinayak Pawar (25) and Darshan Adarkar (26). Neyoth played a patient innings for his team and was a treat to watch. His knock was a perfect blend of aggression and defence. Vishal was the pick of the bowlers for Sodexo picking up 2-31 in his four overs.

Sodexo had a disappointing outing with the bat and they were restricted to a paltry 83-7, losing the match by a big margin of 66 runs. It was a disciplined bowling effort from GEBS with six of the eight bowlers picking up one wicket each. Coming in at no.3, Shekhar top scored with 43 runs for Sodexo.

Bins Neyoth (32 runs off 36 balls and 1-15 in 2 overs) was declared as the Man of the Match for his fantastic all-round performance.

 

Aditya Birla was at its very best on 20th March when it locked horns against DSP Blackrock at Western Railway Sports Ground, Mumbai during the Woods T20 Corporate Cricket Tournament. Opening bat Aditya (72 runs off 42 balls) and no.3 batsman Priyal (63 runs off 43 balls) were spectacular with the bat as they thrashed the DSP bowling all throughout the innings. Both these batsmen were striking at an aggressive strike rate of close to 150. They played a pivotal role in taking their team’s total to a mammoth 214-5 in 20 overs. Bhavesh picked up 2-39 in his four overs and was the best bowler for DSP.

Chasing 215 runs off 20 overs was always going to be tough. Middle order bat Dipak Shetty hit a fantastic half century but his efforts went in vain as his team was restricted to a humble 123-6 in 20 overs. DSP lost the match by a big margin of 91 runs. Amol shined with the ball accounting for 2-17 in his four overs.

Aditya (72 runs off 42 balls) and Priyal (63 runs off 43 balls) shared the Man of the Match award for their batting brilliance.

Riding on Kaikesh Chavan’s (42 runs off 31 balls) batting heroics, Indusind Bank posted a defendable 151-10 in 19.5 overs on board against ICICI Bank on 20th March at Mumbai during the Woods T20 Corporate Cricket Tournament. Jay Gabba (23 runs off 17 balls) and Anil Yadav (24 runs off 19 balls) were the other batsmen who chipped in with the willow. Shaleen Gupta and Ajay Shinde were the star bowlers picking up three wickets apiece.

In the second innings, Indusind bowled well to restrict ICICI to 138-8 in 20 overs, thanks to Sagar Ghadigaonkar’s fantastic bowling spell. Sagar finished off with envious figures of 3-20 in his four overs. He bowled in right areas and was consistent with his line and length not allowing the batsmen to free their arms. Ghadigaonkar was instrumental in his team’s win over ICICI. Indusind won the match by 13 runs. Kartik top scored with 36 runs.

Sagar Ghadigaonkar (3-20 in 4 overs) was declared as the Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling efforts.

It was a disappointing batting performance by HUL against Deutsche Bank on 19th March at M.B.Union ground, Mumbai during the Dreamz T20 Cricket Tournament. Batting first, HUL could manage a humble 79-9 in their full quota of 20 overs. Swapnil was the wrecker-in-chief as he ran through the HUL batting line-up picking up 4-16 in his four overs. He was excellent with his line and length and bowled consistently in the right areas throughout his spell. Alok Sinha top scored with 23 runs.

It was a cake walk for Deutsche Bank as they chased down the target in just 12.5 overs, keeping five wickets in hand. It was a good all-round show with opening bat Ketan (16) and Vikas (19) providing a steady start to their team. Vinit remained unbeaten on 18 and found able ally in Shobnesh who chipped in with 14 runs. Prashant was the star bowler grabbing 4-22 in his four overs.

Swapnil (4-16 in 4 overs) was declared as the Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling performance.

It was a cracker of contest at Oval ground, Mumbai on 19th March when Datamatics took on Deloitte during the Dreamz T20 Cricket Tournament. Batting first, Deloitte posted a challenging 179-3, thanks to twin half centuries from Karamveer (55 runs off 47 balls) and Saud (51 not out off 33 balls). Both these players were lethal and punished the Datamatics bowling all throughout the innings. There was no respite for the bowlers as Karamveer and Saud were in no mood to let loose. There was not much for Datamatics in the bowling department apart from Umesh and Nitin who picked up two and one wickets respectively.

In reply, Datamatics played well to inch closer to the target but in the end just fell shy of 2 runs as they finished off with 178-8 in 20 overs. It was a terrific match with almost all the Datamatics batsmen contributing for their team. Middle order bat Aditya top scored with 57 runs off 30 balls. After shinning with the bat, Karamveer bowled a fantastic and picked up 2-14 in his two overs.

Karamveer (55 runs off 47 balls and 2-14 in 2 overs) was announced as the Man of the Match for his match-winning all-round efforts.

A powerful start provided by the openers Vishal Pendurkar (61 runs off 34 balls) and Vicky (76 runs off 49 balls) helped Sodexo post a daunting target of 199-5 in 20 overs against CGI at RBI ground, Mumbai on 19th March during the Dreamz T20 Cricket Tournament. Both these players smacked the CGI bowlers all-round the park and were a treat to watch. They dominated the bowling right from the start and did not let loose. Rakesh was the pick of the bowlers picking up 3-21 in three overs.

Chasing 200 runs at the rate of 10 runs per over was always going to be tough for CGI. The opening pair of Aditya (30 runs off 40 balls) and Tushar (29 runs off 13 balls) gave a good start to CGI but the middle order failed to capitalize on it. They were restricted to 150-7 in 20 overs, falling short of 49 runs. Towards the end, Atul tried to accelerate with a quick-fire 27 off 15 balls, but it was too late in the day for his team to achieve the target.  Jay shined with the ball, grabbing 3-36 in his four overs. First with the bat and then with the ball, Vishal rolled his arm over to pick up 2-20 in his three overs.

Vishal Pendurkar (61 runs off 34 balls and 2-20 in 3 overs) was declared as the Man of the Match for his outstanding all-round performance.

It was a dismal batting performance from Deutsche Bank on 12th March at Oval ground, Mumbai when they took on HUL in the semi-final of Elite Group Dreamz T20 Cricket Tournament. Batting first, Deutsche Bank could barely manage a modest 108-8 in 20 overs. Sushant was the top run-getter with 45 runs off 38 balls and remained unbeaten at the end of the innings. He was aggressive right from the start and paced his innings perfectly well. V. Bagul and N. Thakur picked up couple of wickets each and bowled well in tandem to restrict Deutsche Bank to a humble 108 in 20 overs.

In reply, HUL achieved the target in just 16.5 overs, keeping six wickets in hand. Sachin Kawade (26), Jatin Khurana (22) and Rajesh Jadhav (29 not out off 16 balls) took their team home. Jadhav was brilliant with the bat and smacked the Deutsche Bank bowlers all-round the park. In his quick-fire innings, he peppered the boundary rope six times. It was indeed a splendid spectacle to watch him bat.

Rajesh Jadhav (29 not out off 16 balls) was announced as the Man of the Match for his match winning cameo knock.

ICICI Prudential posted a defendable 139-7 in 20 overs against Naaptol on 20th March at the Venus Sports Academy ground, Mumbai during the Woods T20 Corporate Cricket Tournament. Nitin top scored with 38 runs off 37 balls, striking at a strike rate of just over 100. He smacked five boundaries in his entertaining innings and shouldered the batting responsibility for his team brilliantly. Sameer was the other batsman who scored 29 runs off 32 balls and helped his team cross the 130-run mark. Kiran shined with the ball as he grabbed 3-20 in his four overs.

Moees (54 runs off 30 balls), who opened the innings for Naaptol was the star performer scoring a fantastic half century. He smacked 11 boundaries and played through the innings. His contribution went in vain as none of the other batsmen could chip in. Naaptol was bundled out for a paltry 84 in 12.2 overs, thus losing the match by 55 runs. Nitin and Shahnawaz were the pick of the bowlers picking up three wickets each.

Nitin (38 runs off 37 balls and 3-21 in 4 overs) was declared as the Man of the Match for his splendid all-round performance.

 

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, IDBI posted a challenging 140-6 in their full quota of 20 overs against CGI on 12th March at Fort Vijay ground, Mumbai in the Plate A Dreamz T20 semi-final. IDBI’s batsmen chipped in with small but useful contributions, with opening bat Vicky top scoring with 29 runs off 23 balls. Navnath was the pick of the bowlers grabbing 3-25 in his spell of four overs. Alap and Vibodh also picked up one wicket apiece.

It was a wonderful batting effort from CGI, but they failed to achieve the target as they were restricted to 134-5 in 20 overs, falling short of six runs. Alap who opened the innings played exceptionally well for his 82 off 57 cherries. He was a treat to watch, striking odd boundaries at his will. Alap pierced the gaps well and scored at a strike rate of close to 140. Alap’s efforts went in vain as his team could not achieve the target. Rajesh was the best bowler for IDBI picking up 2-18 in his four overs. With this win, IDBI reached the final of Plate A Dreamz T20 Cricket Tournament.

Alap (82 runs off 57 balls and 1-27 in 4 overs) was declared as the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.

New leather ball T20 cricket Tournament is being organized by Pantanagar Sports Club in Ghatkopar, Mumbai.

Entry Fees :- Rs.8000/- + Umpire Fees :- Rs.1000/- per match.

Venue is a solo ground in Ghatkopar East, Mumbai and this is a knockout tournament.  Tournament starts from 15th April 2016 till 30 April 2016.
