Friendship Trophy is the signature annual T20 leather ball cricket tournament of the club and is being organised since 2015. Known for it’s meticulous organisation at the lush green solo ground of Asahi Float Glass, Taloja and the competitive matches played in best of cricketing spirit, amateur cricketing clubs from Dombivli, Kalyan, Thane and Mumbai have been participating in this sporting event since it’s inception.

Friendship Trophy 2023, which kicks off on March 25th is a white ball tournament this year and has following 10 teams participating –

The teams are divided in two groups, with each team to play 4 league matches over 5 consecutive weekends. The grand finals will be held on April 30th. MCA Umpires, Cricheroes scoring, live YouTube streaming of the semis and finals and most importantly, the fiercely competing sides – all are bound to make this tournament an exciting one to watch out for!

DTDC Express Ltd won convincingly against Teleperformance DIBS in the RCF T20 Tournament. After batting first, DTDC amassed a massive total of 207 in 20 overs losing just 4 wickets only. The openers Japjeet Randhawa and Anish Chaudhery put up a dominant opening stand. Japjeet went on to score 63 off just 34 balls as Anish hammered a blistering 90 in 55 balls. Together they formed an opening partnership of 141 as Japjeet was the first to fall. Apart from them, southpaw Omkar Ghule joined the party and chipped in a quick-fire 35 to help his team pass the 200-run mark. From Teleperformance, Shashank Mistry was able to claim 2 wickets.

With a massive total to chase down, Teleperformance set out to chase but lost their openers in quick succession. A small partnership brewed between Chabria and Usmani but DTDC managed to dismiss batsmen at regular intervals. Aayush Raghuvanshi was able to score 32 at the back end of the innings but it wasn’t enough as DTDC defended the target successfully with 75 runs in hand.

Aniket Singh and Omkar Ghule managed to claim 3 wickets a piece as the former bowled at an exceptional economy rate of just 3 r.p.o in his 3-over spell. A cumulative bowling performance saw them defend the total and emerge as champions.

Anish Chaudhary was named as the Man of the Finals but he wasn’t the only DTDC player to go away with a trophy that evening. Ankit Singh was awarded the Best Bowler of the tournament as Maxwell Swaminathan was crowned as the Best Fielder for his safe pair of hands. The Man of the Series was given to Omkar Ghule for his monumental all-round performances throughout the tournament. Despite just ending up as runners up of the tournament, Teleperformance’s Raunak Sharma was awarded the Best Batsman of the tournament.

DTDC were coached by Coach Kishor Waghela who guided and managed the team to the best of their abilities. Apart from the champion corporate team, Waghela also takes care of the Advance CricketGraph Academy located at Cross Maidan in Mumbai. Coach Waghela’s academy falls under the CricketGraph Academy Partnership Program where Cricketgraph helps existing academies develop.
Mumbai, March 19: Bohra Cricket Club proved their stunning victory against defending champions Parsee Gymkhana in the first round was no flash in the pan. Powered by the aggressive half-century knocks from openers Rugved More unbeaten 87 runs, and Japjeet Randhawa 57 runs and Omkesh Kamath’s unbeaten 52 runs, Bohra CC continued with their winning momentum as they defeated P.J. Hindu Gymkhana by 55-runs in a quarter-final match of the 73rd Nawab Salar Jung Invitation T20 Cricket Tournament, organised by the Islam Gymkhana under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Parsee Gymkhana ground, Marine Drive on Sunday.
Electing to bat first, Bohra CC top three batsmen feasted on the Hindu Gymkhana bowling and helped the team piled up a massive total of 203 for the loss of one wicket from their 20 overs. More showing good form and smashed nine boundaries and four sixes during his 60-ball innings, while Randhawa’s 39-ball knock contained five well-timed hits to the ropes and four well-struck sixes. The two were associated in a 132-run association for the first wicket. Omkesh Kamath also dominated the bowlers and his half century effort came from 22 balls with six shots to the boundary ropes and two powerful hits over the fence.
Later, Bohra CC bowlers dismissed P.J. Hindu Gymkhana for a paltry 148 runs in 19.5 overs to seal their victory and a passage to the semi-final. Himanshu Singh 3 for 12, Mohd Mansoori 3 for 36 and Onkar Tarmale 2 for 36 were responsible for rocking the Hindu Gymkhana innings and restricting them to a poor score. Harsh Salunkhe 44 runs (35-balls, 4×4,2×6) and Vasim Khan 28 (17-balls, 4×4,1×6) were the two batters who managed to get decent runs on the board.

Mumbai, March 18: Reigning champions Parsee Gymkhana made a surprising early exit suffering an embarrassing 77-run defeat at the hands of Bohra Cricket Club in a first round match of the 73rd Nawab Salar Jung Invitation T20 Cricket Tournament, organised by the Islam Gymkhana under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Parsee Gymkhana ground, Marine Drive on Saturday.
Bohra CC’s all-rounder Japjeet Randhawa played a significant role in Parsee Gymkhana’s downfall. The opening batsman Randhawa first scored a 65-ball century 106 runs which was studded with nine boundaries and five powerful sixes and guided Bohra CC to a challenging total of 213 for the loss of 4 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Omkesh Kamath unbeaten 40 runs (23-balls, 1×4,3×6), Ravindra Sante 22 runs and Rugved More 20 runs made useful contributions to the Bohra total, while Aakarshit Gomel (2 for 30) was Parsee Gymkhana best bowler.
The formidable Parsee Gymkhana started their chase on a positive note, but some disciplined bowling from the Bohra CC bowlers who picked wickets at crucial juncture managed to dismiss the rival for 136 in 16.5 overs. Randhawa played a key role with the ball as well and claimed 3 wickets for just five runs. Himanshu Singh 2 for 23 and Ravindra Sante 2 for 35 picked up the other wickets. Gomel 41 runs, Sagar Chabbria 25 runs and Vaibhav Kalamkar 22 runs tried to help Parsee Gymkhana put up a fight, but their efforts went in vain.

Mumbai, March 17: A determined DTDC Express cricket team showed great character as they staved off a spirited fight back from Western Railway SA by snatching a tight 6-run victory in an exciting second semi-final of the RCF T20 cricket tournament 2023 for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup, organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited under the auspices of the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and played at the RCF Colony ground, Chembur on Thursday evening.
Deciding to take first strike DTDC Express amassed a total of 188 for 9 wickets from their 20 overs. Middle-order bat Vedant Murkar struck a fighting 39-ball 70 runs (6×4,4×6), opening batsman and captain Anish Choudhary scored a 26-ball 44 runs (4×4,3×6) and a late charge from Ajinkya Beloshe who smashed three sixes and two boundaries during his quick 9-ball 28 runs innings which swelled the total. Western Railway’s medium pacers Drushant Soni 4 for 28 and Vijay Gadhvi 2 for 46 claimed the wickets.
Later, DTDC Express kept their composure and held their nerves and halted Western Railway’s charge by restricting them to 182 for 6 wickets from the stipulated 20 overs and to snatch a close win.
DTDC Express will meet Teleperformance DIBS in the final on Monday.
DTDC Express made a shaky start losing three quick wickets with just a solitary run on the board in the second over. But, skipper Choudhary along with Omkar Ghule (9 runs) put the innings back on track with a 50-run partnership. Later, Murkar and Maxwell Swaminathan (13 runs) put together 67 runs for the sixth wicket before Beloshe with his fiery knock swelled the total.
In reply, Western Railway also suffered early setbacks losing both the openers Mrunal Devdhar and Asad Pathan for ducks. But, left-handed Chavan batted aggressively making a 34-ball 63 runs which included eight boundaries and three sixes. Later, Soni 41 runs (26-balls, 3×4,1×6), Omprakash Jaiswal 40 runs (24-balls, 7×4) and Nikhunj Mohite 21 runs kept Western’s on track. But, the DTDC bowlers were disciplined and put the brakes on the opposition batsmen who were unable to get the last few runs and failed to cross the finish line.

Mumbai, March 16: Leading by example Rajawadi CC captain and opening bat Vrushali Bhagat hammered a 37-ball 103 runs and steered her team to a thumping 170-run win against K.R.P. Cricket Club in a Group-F second round match of the 1st MCA Women’s Cricket League, played at the Ghatkopar Jolly Gymkhana ground, on Wednesday.
Rajawadi CC after being asked to bat first completely dominated the rival bowling attack. Openers Bhagat who smashed 17 boundaries and four sixes and Kshama Patekar 39-ball 59 runs, were associated in a first wicket partnership of 151 runs in 10.3 overs which laid the foundation for Rajawadi to pile up a massive total of 267 for 3 wickets from 20 overs. Dhanashree Waghmare 42 runs and Mansi Bodke unbeaten 39 runs further propped the innings.
In reply, K.R.P. CC could only manage to score 97 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs and lost the match. Najuka Davane 16 runs and Riya Vanjale 15 runs the only two batters who got some runs on the board while Rajawadi’s Tanvi Parab took 2 wickets for 8 runs.
In Group-B matches, P.J. Hindu Gymkhana who scored 129 for 8 wickets in 20 overs did well to bowl out Sports Promotion Group Mumbai for 72 runs in 17 overs and clinch a 57-run victory. Earlier, Palghar Dahanu Taluka SA defeated Navroz Cricket Club by 8 wickets in a low scoring match. Palghar Dahanu Taluka dismissed Navroz CC cheaply for 39 runs in 14.2 overs with Yayati Gawad taking 5 wickets for 10 runs. Palghar Dahanu Taluka easily scored 40 for 2 wickets in 4.5 overs.
In a Group-M encounter, Sportsfield Cricket Club romped to a convincing 10-wicket win against Vijay Cricket Club. The bowling efforts of Drushti Rane 3 for 10 runs and Reshma Nayak 2 for 8 runs restricted Vijay CC to 63 for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Kavita Singh was the top-scorer with 23 runs. In response, Sportsfield CC chased the winning target making 64 for no loss in 8 overs to complete the win.

Mumbai, March 16: Teleperformance DIBS displayed tremendous resilience and determination and managed to snatch a tense 3-run victory against Space Sports Club in a thrilling sem-final match of the RCF T20 cricket tournament for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup 2023, organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited under the auspices of the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and played at the RCF Colony ground, Chembur on Thursday.
The highlights of Teleperformance win was Skipper Raunaq Sharma half century knock of 52 runs and Karan Shah’s all-round efforts 23 runs and 2 wickets for 24 runs, which paved the way for their success.
In a keenly contested encounter, Space SC after winning the toss and choosing to bowl first managed to contain the Teleperformance batters to a modest total of 131 for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Middle-order batsman Sharma’s 39-ball innings, which included an equal number of two fours and sixes, lifted the total. Rugved More 3 for 27 and Kartik Mishra 2 for 20 were Space SC best bowlers.
Later, Teleperformance defending a moderate total rose to the challenge as they were disciplined with the bowling, which was well-backed by some excellent fielding and that ensured they managed to restrict Space CC to 128 for 8 wickets from their stipulated 20 overs. Off-spinner Shah was well-supported by medium pacer Divyansh Saxena 2 for 31 and were instrumental in their team snatching a tight victory. Space CC batters Gautam Waghela 45 runs (34-balls, 6×4,1×6), Vikas Singh 39 runs (26-balls, 4×4,2×6) and Nehal Shaikh 23 runs made substantial contributions, but all their efforts went in vain.

Mumbai, March 15: A total of 16 teams will be competing for the top honours in the 73rd Nawab Salar Jung Invitation T20 Cricket Tournament, organised by the Islam Gymkhana under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association, which will commence from Saturday, March 18, 2023.
Defending Parsee Gymkhana will try to retain the crown, but they will certainly encounter strong challenges from the other contenders.
The other participating teams include, Mumbai Police Gymkhana, Bombay Gymkhana, P.J. Hindu Gymkhana, Apollo CC, Young Mohammedan CC, Muslim United SC, Young Friends CC, Marwari CC, Bohra CC, Kurla Sports Club, Muslims Sports Club, Souvenir CC, Modern CC, Sponsors XI and hosts Islam Gymkhana.
Adv. Mohseen Shaikh, Hon. Secretary (Cricket), Islam Gymkhana mentioned that the tournament will be conducted with all precautionary measures being taken as per the protocol of the State Government and the other concerned authorities.
Islam Gymkhana, President, Adv. Yusuf Abrahani said, “Islam Gymkhana has always encouraged and promoted cricket. We are happy to conduct the Nawab Salar Jung Invitation Cricket Tournament for the past 72 years. Our aim is to provide young cricketers an opportunity and encourage them to play the sport competitively and to showcase their talent.”
Adv. Mohseen stated that the format of this tournament is a direct knockout and all the matches will be played as per the New Model Rules of the Mumbai Cricket Association.
“The initial round of matches will be played at Parsee Gymkhana ground, P.J. Hindu Gymkhana ground, Mumbai Police Gymkhana ground and the Islam Gymkhana ground. The quarter-finals are scheduled to be played at the Parsee Gymkhana and the two semi-finals at the Islam Gymkhana on Monday, March 20 and the final the next day at the Islam Gymkhana,” Mohseen further stated.

Mumbai, March 15: Victory Cricket Club, bolstered by the powerful century knocks from opening batswomen Sarika Koli who cracked a 53-ball 125 runs and Mahek Pokar who remained unbeaten on a 65-ball 108 runs, defeated Yogi Cricket Club by a massive 212 runs in a Group-I second round match of the 1st MCA Women’s Cricket League, and played at Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana 1 ground, Kandivali on Wednesday.
In a Group-A match, Mandavi Muslim SC registered a comfortable 8-wicket victory against Shantibhai Sheth Memorial CC. Batting first, Shantibhai Sheth Memorial CC were bowled out for 70 runs in 12.1 overs. Mandavi Muslims bowlers Sharvari More 4 for 13 and Mugdha Pisat 4 for 17 claimed the wickets. In reply, Mandavi Muslims easily chased the target reaching 74 runs for 2 wickets in 14.1 overs. Kashvi Hosalkar scored an unbeaten 31 runs.
Meanwhile, Victory CC openers started in aggressive fashion and smashed the rival bowling attack to all corners of the park. Koli who struck 23 boundaries and two sixes and Pokar who was a bit patient hit 18 boundaries and the duo stitched together a 245 run first wicket partnership for the first wicket before their innings closed at 262 for 1 wicket in 20 overs.
Later, Victory CC bowlers contained the Yogi CC batters who could only make 50 runs for the loss of 8 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Shrushti KudalKar 3 for 1 and Sejal Raut 2 for 14 were the main Victory CC bowlers.

Mumbai, March 14: Western Railway SA inspired by brilliance of Drushant Soni who picked 4 wickets for 19 runs and opening bat Mrunal Devdhar who smashed a quick 27-ball 66 runs steamrolled past Mumbai Port Trust SC recording an 8-wicket victory in a quarter-final match of the RCF T20 cricket tournament for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup 2023, organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited under the auspices of the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and played at the RCF Colony ground, Chembur on Tuesday.
In the semi-finals, Western Railway will meet DTDC Express CC who convincingly defeated Nirlon SC by 7 wickets. DTDC Express fielding first bowled out Nirlon SC for 164 runs in 20 overs. Agni Chopra 47 runs (32-balls, 1×4,3×6), Amogh Bhatkal 22 runs and Sandeep Kunchikor 20 runs propped the Nirlon innings, while Omkar Ghule took 3 wickets for 13. In reply, DTDC Express CC powered by Satyalash Jain unbeaten 52-ball 87 runs, which was studded with an equal number of six boundaries and sixes and Maxwell Swaminathan 22 runs steered the team to victory.
Deciding to field first, Western Railway bowlers, in particular Soni, claimed wickets at regular intervals to dismiss MbPT SC for 132 runs in 19.1 overs. The only batsman to stay long in the middle for Vedprakash Jaiswal who struck 41 (29-balls, 2×4,2×6) which lifted the innings. Soni got good support from Kunal Karmchandani 2 for 10 and Hitesh Kadam 2 for 32.
In reply, Western Railway easily reached the winning target making 133 runs for 2 wickets in just 12 overs. Opening bat Devdhar led the charge with his half century knock which included 10 boundaries and 3 sixes. Amen Bawa chipped in with an unbeaten 24 runs and Asad Pathan scored 23 runs. MbPT’s Rehan Ahmed took both the wickets giving away 31 runs.

Nirlon Sports Club 164 all out, 20 overs (Agni Chopra c M Swaminathan b D Parida 47 (32-balls, 1×4,3×6), Amogh Bhatkal 22, Sandeep Kunchikor 20; Omkar Ghule 3 for 13) lost to DTDC Express CC 165 for 3 wickets, 17.3 overs (Satyalash Jain not out 87* (52-ball, 6×4,6×6), Maxwell Swaminathan 22). Result: DTDC Express CC won by 7 wickets.
