Watching the Indian cricketers play and win for our country is a proud feeling for every Indian but to watch them in action live in a stadium is a different feeling altogether…. the atmosphere, the cheers, the groans, the energy…. is as unique as it gets. Some are fortunate enough to experience this in their life and many aspire to but just can’t. To make sure few penurious cricketers from the biggest slum in the world, Dharavi, get to experience the same feeling, the current Mumbai Cricket Association President, Amol Kale took formidable steps and made that dream of watching an international game in a stadium into a reality.
Amol Kale sponsored tickets for underprivileged cricketers from Dharavi for the India vs Sri Lanka T20 Match. Almost 30 cricketers from the Sion vicinity were invited to enjoy the international match at Wankhede. The lucky one’s assembled at the District Sports Club in Sion, near Dharavi and were commuted by a bus arranged by the President himself. The players had exclusive VIP access as they were placed in the Corporate Box.
With unlimited catering services, best view of the ground and a nail biting finish to the bilateral series game, the players enjoyed their once in a lifetime opportunity to the maximum.
The individuals present in the stadium had an opportunity to witness cricketers like Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Surya Kumar Yadav, Umran Malik, Deepak Hooda and other Indian and Sri Lankan players on field giving them a chance to learn closely numerous things such as an on-field conduct of an international cricketer. This noble initiative by the current leader of the MCA was taken with a bid to motivate underprivileged cricketers by providing them a different perspective. This experience surely will be life-changing and positively impact the Dharavi residents to strive for success and excellence and perform like their favorite cricketer.
