It was the A Division match between two talented teams namely Tata Power & TCS of the Tata Inter Company Tournament. On winning the toss, TCS elected to bat first as the pitch was favorable for batting.
However, it wasn’t the best day in the office for TCS batsman as they were bundled out for just 108/6 in 20 overs. The bowlers did a good job on a batting wicket like Fort Vijay & contained the batsman. Rohit Sharma & Amit Sonawane were the leading scorers with the scores of 40 & 30 respectively. Abul Kalam was the pick of the bowlers as he took 2/16 in 4 overs. The rest of the bowlers also succeeded in containing the batsman. There were as many as 3 run-outs in the TCS innings which proved the opposition was also doing tight fielding.
Chasing 109, Tata Power completed the chase in just 13.4 overs with openers Rohan Bane (20 off 11) & Nishit Shetty (28* off 29balls) giving a solid start. Right-handed Nikhil Patil scored a wonderful half century coming in at no.3 to finish the game in style. Nikhil scored 51* off 35 balls (7 fours) & played the role of finisher to perfection.

Over the years every teams have been blessed with openers like Sehwag, Gilchrist, Gayle & Mccullum who give wonderful starts at the top of the order. Their sheer presence makes the bowlers get nervous & when they hit the ball, it stays hit. Such was the sort of innings displayed by Tushar More for Tata Steel Tarapur & by Kastubh Pawar for Tata Capital at the Fort Vijay Ground, Mumbai.
Tata Steel Wire Division Tarapur won the toss & elected to bat first as the wicket was good to bat on. It was an aggressive start right from the word go given by their opener Tushar More. Tushar scored 82 off just 44 balls & smashed 10 glorious boundaries & 2sixes at a strike rate of almost 200. No.3 batsman Sairaj Patil also looked good as he smashed 46 off just 32 balls. The rest of the batsman below Sairaj crumbled with Ketan Meher being the only one to cross 15 runs with a 16ball 31. Star player K.P(Kastubh Pawar) was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/41 followed by 2wkts for Parikshit. Tata Steel managed to score 192/7 in 20 overs which is a good score any day.
Chasing 193, it was a tough fight given by Tata Capital as they lost by just 6runs. Tata capital managed to reach 186/6 in 20 overs & almost sealed the match. Star opener Kastubh Pawar smashed a regal half century at the top of the order scoring 76 off just 43balls (7fours, 4 sixes). He was also supported well by Sachin Yadav who scored a brisk 35ball 42. However, the rest of the batsman could not capitalize on the start given by the openers and lost the match by 6runs. Slow left arm spinner Brijesh Gharat was the pick of the bowlers with bowling figures of 2/23 in 4 overs followed by a wicket each for Sairaj, Jayesh & Tushar Gharat.

Some players are made for the big stage & they perform at the right time when it’s needed for them. Remember Adam Gilchrist’s 149 in the semi-finals or Sachin’s century in the Finals? One such case was witnessed between Mafatlal & RBI (Reserve Bank of India) when two players completely took the game away from RBI in the finals at MCA Ground, BKC Mumbai.
Mafatlal C.C won the toss & elected to bat first as the conditions were favorable to score big on the MCA Ground. It was a tricky start as their opener Miten Shah & no.3 batsman Armaan Sheikh were out for 1 & 0 respectively but H Khadiwale from the other side scored a solid 52 off 72balls (5fours). What followed was a complete display of class & grace as their no.4 Sanket Jadhav took the bowlers by surprise with his effortless century. Sanket Jadhav scored a brilliant 100* off 151 balls which included 13 glorious fours to push his team to a respectable total of 235/9 in 70 overs. Sanket looked confident at the crease & kept on taking twos & singles apart from hitting boundaries at the right time.
Chasing 236 in 70 overs is not the toughest task but it was some wonderful bowling by Mafatlal bowlers which brought them back into the game. Vishwanath Parmar was the pick of the bowlers & acted as the villain for the opposition as he took 5/92 to trouble the batsman. Not only he bowled a marathon spell of 30.5 overs which requires a nice amount of fitness & stamina but also gave less runs and took wickets at regular intervals which reduced RBI to 205/10 in 62.5 overs.

It’s certainly the season of left arm spinners as they are taking the market by storm. Starting from Steve O’Keefe troubling India with 6 wkts in the 1st test to R Jadeja recently taking a 5 wkts haul against Australia to recent performances by Sumeet Sharma & Rahul Mishra at the local level getting featured by Cricketgraph for their effective left-arm spin bowling. Now it’s the turn of another left-arm off-spinner Harsh Mishra who bowled a mind-blowing spell of 5/15 in 4 overs.
Dream’s won the toss & elected to bowl first as the wicket was good to bowl on. Batting first, AIRPA (All India Registered Pharmacist Association) made 192/8 in 20 overs. Right-handed opener Rupesh Khadgi scored a confident half century at the top of the order to give a solid start. Rupesh Khadgi scored 51 off 35 balls followed by quick 30’s by Gaurav kurkute (35 off 21) & Krutik Hangawadi (35 off 20). Anil was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/27 for Dream’s.
Chasing 193, Dream’s were all-out for just 139/10 in 17.3 overs and lost the match by 54 runs. Left-arm off spinner Harsh Mishra wreaked havoc as he took 5 wkts (3 LBW’s & 2 bowled) for just 15 runs in his spell of 4 overs. The rest of the bowlers bowled well around him which helped them win the match comfortably.
It was a great victory by team AIRPA & thanks to some wonderful bowling by Harsh too which made things easier. Harsh Mishra was declared ‘man of the match’ & Cricketgraph congratulates the whole team for their semi-final win. Looking at their current form, their finals against Nair Hospital will be a match to lookout for.
The Parsee Cyclists Ground witnessed an exciting match between MET Sports Club & Fountainhead Entertainment on 18th march, 2017. Winning the toss, MET Sports Club elected to bat first with an aim of putting a big total on the board and make the most of the pitch conditions.
Pratahmesh Mahadik was the standout batsman today for MET as he scored a brilliant 71* off just 52 balls to steer his team to a healthy total of 187/3 in 20 overs. Opener Harish Narvekar gave a wonderful start scoring 64 off just 51 balls (5 fours, 3 sixes) but it was Prathamesh who continued the positive momentum & dominated the bowlers with tact. Prathamesh smashed only 7 fours & did a lot of running between the wickets. He was busy all the time at the crease & kept the scoreboard ticking. It wasn’t the best of the days for Fountainhead bowlers, however Sunil Yadav, Pratik Jadhav & Abhijeet Patil chipped in with a wicket each.
Chasing 188 in 20 overs at a run rate of more than 9 runs per over, Fountainhead entertainment succumbed to the pressure of chasing a big score & managed to reach only 117/8 in 20 overs. Opener Manish Yadav’s 42(35) was the only commendable score as the rest of the batting line up crumbled. Jayant Satghare bowled a tight spell & took as many as 4 wkts in 4 overs to restrict the opposition to a low total. Jayant not only remained economical but also took crucial wickets.

Leg spin is an art which is hard to conquer & when you do become good at it, you get results like how Sumeet Sharma got in the Finals. It was a performance which helped his side restrict ICICI to a low total and chase the score comfortably.
Winning the toss, ICICI elected to bat first, however their decision did not go in their favor as they managed to score only 117 runs. The bowlers did a wonderful job & hardly allowed any batsman to settle. Kishore Waghela (3/18 in 9 overs) took the cream wickets of the top 3 in the batting line-up while it was Sumeet Sharma who cleaned up the whole opposition innings by taking 4 wkts. Spinners Aakash Bharadwaj & Virendra Yadav also bowled tight spells & bowled at good length. However, Sumeet was the pick of the bowlers with envious bowling figures of 4/13 in 5 overs & acted as the chief destroyer.
Chasing 118, DTDC were off to a good start though they lost 3 early wickets. However Manager Gupta & Virendra Yadav stitched a crucial 40+ partnership which brought them back into the game. Manager Gupta scored a blazing 30 off just 15 balls while it was Bharat & Virendra (40* off 40b) who finished the rest of the job in 25 overs and 6 wkts to spare.

Left-arm spinners are as rare as tigers and lions in India & when you get to see some good left-arm bowlers doing their job, it’s nothing but a treat. Rahul Mishra has been one such case who has been performing consistently with the ball & making his mark as a tough left-arm spinner to crack.
It was the all important finals of the South Mumbai Shield at Wankhede Stadium Mumbai where both the teams were required to give their best. Winning the toss, Souvenir Cricket Team elected to field first as the wicket was good to bowl first. Gaud Saraswat managed to score 207/10 in 45 overs where left-handed Mayuresh yadav was the leading scorer with a solid 43 off 53 balls (3 fours & 3 sixes) Mayuresh was confident & developed a positive momentum after the top order fell early. Ishaan also played a handy knock of 37 off 44balls. The team could have crossed 250 but the lower middle order and the lower order could not fire when it was needed. It was a decent bowling performance from Souvenir C.T where Rohan Bane, Jayshal Wadiyal, Aliasgar Badami & Ronak Shinde took 2 wkts each.
Chasing 208, Souvenir C.T managed to reach only 151 runs & were all-out in 38.3 overs. Left-arm spinner Rahul Mishra was the pick of the bowlers with bowling figures of 4/29 in 8.3 overs. Rahul took the big fish Rohan Bane in the 1st over itself where shinde took a wonderful catch. Rohit Bhalla and Mayuresh Yadav also chipped in with 2 wkts each.

Two batsmen stole the limelight in the semi-finals of the Thosar Shield Tournament as Modern C.C won a thrilling encounter against Royal Cricket Club at Central Maidan, Thane. One was the talented Shubham who scored a 66 ball 76 while the other was the ‘wonder boy’ who shocked the entire world with his talent when he scored ‘1000’ runs in a single inning-Pranav Dhanawade.
After winning the toss, Royal C.C elected to bat first & they managed to reach 175/10 in 42.1 overs with opener Saurabh Joshi being the leading scorer with his 42 followed by a crucial 34 by Mandar Garavde. Yash Kadam was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/24 followed by 2/32 by Shreyas Hadkar. Royal C.C could have batted a little longer to score a 200+ target but the rest of the batsman were not able to make much of a difference.
Chasing 176 for a semi-final match is not the toughest of tasks for sure as their talented opener Pranav Dhanawade scored a solid half-century (50) off 55 balls. Anmar was out for a duck but what followed was a knock which almost took the match towards victory single-handedly. Right-handed Shubham Punyarthi scored 76 off just 66 balls & he only dealt in boundaries. Quite evident from the fact that he got 52 runs (13 fours) from his 76 in boundaries.
Modern C.C won the semi-finals & looking at their current form they are looking all poised to win the finals too. Cricketgraph wishes them all the luck & go on to win the tournament.
Fireblaze-Cricketgraph partnership has come out with yet another set of best performances for the period of first 15 days of February 2017.
Out of the six solid performances, the expert panel, which boasts of umpires, IPL players and former Ranji players, picked up the top three performances in the form of Suved Parkar, Aayush Jethwa and Jay Dhatrak. The panel brainstormed to reach at a consensus and finally chose the terrific three.
Needless to say, these boys have played some excellent cricket in the last 15 days which was considered as the period of judgement. The lads have not only done themselves proud but also made a good name for their school/academy in cricketing sphere. All these three players will be showered with accolades and appreciation for their wonderful accomplishments in the form of gifts, vouchers and certificates of acknowledgement.
Suved Parkar of Swami Vivekananda School, Borivali, was awarded for his fabulous performance with both, bat and ball, in the final match of Khichadiya Trophy. He will be bestowed with a Fireblaze Thigh Pad and a certificate of appreciation. Suved scored a delightful 71 off 50 balls smacking 11 boundaries and a maximum against Rizvi in the final of U-16 inter-school tournament. He also scalped 4-62 in 11 overs in the 45-over game. As the skipper of the team, Parkar set a perfect example for his team and led his team to win the Khichadiya Trophy.
Aayush Jethwa of Naren Tamhane XI team impressed one and all with his all-round performance. The south paw and spin monster bagged two, four (including a hat-trick) and two wickets in the three matches that were played from 7th Feb – 9th Feb. In the third match, he played a captain’s knock scoring a blistering 94 off just 82 balls. Jethwa’s performance was recorded for the U-13 Vijay Tulpule Tournament that hosts 45 over games.
Playing for Sulonia Cricket Academy Thane/Singhania School Team in Kalyan Premiere League U-13 tourney, Jay Dhatrak, played a gem of an innings when he muscled a power packed knock of 144 runs in just 73 balls. His strike rate was close to 200 and the opening bat leading from the front helped his team to win the knock-out stage match. Jay, who is also a handy right arm medium pace bowler, has been selected to play for MIG U-14.
Aayush Jethwa and Jay Dhatrak will not only receive the certificate of appreciation but also win Fireblaze hand gloves.
The other three contenders who were fighting for this prestigious Cricketgraph-Fireblaze Junior Performance Cricket Awards were Atharva Temkar of Chandrakant Patkar Vidyalaya, Musheer Khan of Mumbai U-14 and Prateek Kumar Yadav of Mumbai Police Gymkhana.

Such players are a big asset for any side & one such performance was displayed by Sajid Shaikh from Arbuda who took 5/29 & 19*(14) in the crucial knock-outs for his team.
Winning the toss, VIVA Supermarkets elected to bat first as the wicket was good to bat on. VIVA batman managed to reach 171/10 in 38 overs & it was some tight bowling by Arbuda bowlers which made it possible. Umesh Gurjar was the leading scorer at no.3 where he scored a solid 67 off just 77 balls. Akshay Mhapankar also batted well & remained unbeaten on 40* off 49 balls. The bowler who acted as a major dent for VIVA Supermarkets was Sajid Shaikh who came up with amazing bowling figures of 5/29 in 9 overs. The right arm spinner did an excellent job and took wickets at the right time which restricted VIVA to a low total. Aniket Khadpe also bowled well as he took 3/30 in his 9 overs.
Chasing 172, Team Arbuda won the knock-outs and completed the chase in 44.2 overs with the loss of 7 wkts. It wasn’t a good start by their top order batsman but a solid partnership between Imran Khan (42*) & Vishweshwar Singh (38) at the lower middle order helped them seal a victory. Sajid Shaikh remained unbeaten on 19* off just 14 balls as Arbuda won the knock-outs by 3 wkts.
