There are some players who are simply talented and effortless at what they do, Sumit’s double ton was amongst those innings where he showed his capabilities with the bat to the cricketing world. It was a match between MIG CC and PJ Hindu Gymkhana where in PJ Hindu won the toss and elected to bowl first with an aim of restricting them to a low total.
Sumit en-route his aggressive double century
Batting first at MIG Cricket Club, once you settle in, the wicket does provide some support to the batsman and attacking opener Sumit who has a tendency to start scoring from the start rather than adopting a defensive approach went on to score a ravishing double hundred which was nothing but a treat to watch. Right handed Sumit scored 229 off just 204 balls hardly wasting any time at the crease while smashing 27fours and 3sixes en route his 204ball stay at the crease. Played at the Sainath Sports Club in Mumbai, it was a match between two promising teams of Kanga namely Young Men CC Vasai and Vijay CC where in Vijay CC won the toss and elected to bat first considering that the pitch conditions would be better than the earlier weeks since the rains are over.
Batting first, Vijay CC were all out for just 123/10 in 35.4 overs where in Devendra & Aditya were the only ones who managed to score in 20’s. The bowlers did a fabulous job and especially Raja Gode and Sagar Sule who took 4/27 and 3/39 respectively. Both the bowlers have proved their mettle with the ball over the time as they are consistently doing their job well.
However, in reply, Vijay CC bowlers gave a stern fight to the Young Men CC Vasai batters as they bundled out the whole team for just 83runs in 31.4 overs. It was bowlers dominating all the way and especially their right arm medium pacer Gautam Dhobi who scalped a match winning spell of 6/21 in 13 overs. Aman Manihar looks in terrific form as he is taking wickets on a consistent basis and he is improving day by day as the primary spin bowler any team would love to have in the Mumbai cricketing circles. After a impressive perfomance in the Payyade Selection Trophy just a few days back, Aman Manihar seems to be continuing his purple patch with the ball in the Harris Shield too.
Played on 04.11.17 at Oval Maidan High court, Rizvi Springfield High School and Swadhyay High School clashed against each other where in Swadhyay won the toss and elected to bat first. Little did they knew on the fate which was waiting for them as they were bundled out for just 91runs all out in 32 overs. In reply, Rizvi Chased down the score in style as they won the match in no time without the loss of any wickets. Opener Aditya Pandey scored 53* off just 41balls to help his team chase down with ease.
Rizvi Springfield won the match by 10wkts but it was definitely this young and Talented Aman who looks in excellent form took everyone’s attention. Also looking at his recent numbers where he has scalped 22wkts in last 4matches(13 in Payyade Selection Trophy and 9 so far in Harris Shield) which also include 2 five wkt hauls, Aman definitely looks like a player to lookout for as the season progresses!
Harris Shield tournament has over the years proved to be a breeding ground and a platform for the talented young cricketers to display their talent. Every year, a new star is born from Harris Shield and he goes on to progress in cricket.
