Aman Manihar looks in terrific form as he is taking wickets on a consistent basis and he is improving day by day as the primary spin bowler any team would love to have in the Mumbai cricketing circles. After a impressive perfomance in the Payyade Selection Trophy just a few days back, Aman Manihar seems to be continuing his purple patch with the ball in the Harris Shield too.

Played on 04.11.17 at Oval Maidan High court, Rizvi Springfield High School and Swadhyay High School clashed against each other where in Swadhyay won the toss and elected to bat first. Little did they knew on the fate which was waiting for them as they were bundled out for just 91runs all out in 32 overs. Left-arm spinner Aman Manihar was the pick of the bowlers taking 6/34 in 13 overs. It was his tight and disciplined bowling spell which helped them restrict the opposition to a low total. In reply, Rizvi Chased down the score in style as they won the match in no time without the loss of any wickets. Opener Aditya Pandey scored 53* off just 41balls to help his team chase down with ease.

Rizvi Springfield won the match by 10wkts but it was definitely this young and Talented Aman who looks in excellent form took everyone’s attention. Also looking at his recent numbers where he has scalped 22wkts in last 4matches(13 in Payyade Selection Trophy and 9 so far in Harris Shield) which also include 2 five wkt hauls, Aman definitely looks like a player to lookout for as the season progresses!

Harris Shield tournament has over the years proved to be a breeding ground and a platform for the talented young cricketers to display their talent. Every year, a new star is born from Harris Shield and he goes on to progress in cricket. This year’s Harris shield is no exception either with a wonderful start to the tournament where we got to see amazing bowling and batting performances.  Fatima high school and Sacred heart (Worli) played their round 1 match at the elphistone club, Azad maidan where in Sacred heart won the toss and chose to field first.

In pic- Sandeep Palav (206 off 110), Rupesh Gupta(115 off 95) and Shaun Gomes who took 7/44

Their decision to field first did not turn out to be the best as Fatima boys scored a mammoth 365/2 in 45 overs. Openers Sandeep Palav and Dev gave a solid start while Sandeep continued the onslaught and went on to score one of the most electrifying tons of 2017 in Mumbai local cricket. Right handed Sandeep scored 206 off mere 110 balls (15fours) making the mockery of the opposition bowlers as he literally toyed with the bowlers. Sandeep’s knock was a mixture of grace and aggression coupled with excellent running between the wickets. What’s more he also stitched a great partnership of 288 runs with Rupesh Gupta who also scored a fabulous century scoring 115 off just 95balls (10fours). It was their brutal dominance with the bat which helped them post an excellent total on the board.

Shaun Gomes who bowled a stunning spell of 7/44
