Have we ever seen a cub threatning a group of lions? Sounds a bit funny, isnt it? But Kanga League almost got to see a similar case when a 16yr old boy attacked like an adult predator against a team consisting of players bigger than him in every aspects!  Played at the Goregaon Sports Club, it was a match between two promising young teams namely Sunrise SC and Goregaon SC where in Goregaon SC won the toss and elected to bowl first as the wicket was slightly tilted towards the bowlers.

Their decision to bowl first was completely spot on as they restricted Sunrise SC to just 77runs in 26.1 overs. The most surprising and sad part of their innings was not a single batsman apart from their no.11 Hitesh Sharma managed to score in two digits. It was only Hitesh who scored a fighting 27 against the tight bowling attack of Goregaon bowlers. 16yr old prodigy Daksh Agarwal caught everyone’s attention as he came up with match winning bowling figures of 7/20 against a team which had players almost between to 23 to 30yrs of age.  It’s always tough to physically and mentally cope up against players who are bigger than you in terms of age and fitness and Daksh troubling the opposition with ease was simply commendable as he was the youngest player in that match.

In reply, Goregaon SC declared their innings at 143/8 in 25.4 overs where in opener Rohit Rudra chipped in with an excellent half century scoring 53 off just 42balls. Experienced off-spinner Aslam Shaikh showed his bowling prowess as he took 6/34 in 5.4 overs to trouble the batsman. Sunrise SC were again 58/9 in their 2nd innings before the end of the game’s play. Daksh’s attack with the ball continued as he took another 4wkts for just 14runs in 14overs (7maidens) taking his tally of bowling figures to a stunning 11/35 in 27overs (10maidens) in the match. Goregaon SC won the match comfortably but it was this young bowler Daksh’s perfomance which raised the eyebrows and became the talking point of the match.

Their decision to bowl first was quite spot on as they restricted Kandivali CA to just 149/all out in 38.4 overs. Hardly any batsman managed to create any impact as most of them gave a start and lost their wickets. The bowler who inflicted maximum damage was this 19year old prodigy who is touching good speeds for his age and troubled the batsman with excellent line and length in that match. Right arm fast bowler Siddarth Kotak came up with match winning bowling figures of 7/67 in 15 overs and ran through the entire batting line up of Kandivali CA.
