Played at the PJ Hindu Gymkhana, Marine Lines, it was a match between PJ Hindu Gymkhana and Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy where in PJ Hindu Gymkhana won the toss and elected to bat first considering that the rains are over and the wicket may have something for the batsman.
Batting first, PJ Hindu Gymkhana scored 366/9 in 70 overs and did a good job batting first. Even though the openers failed to give a flying start but Anup Revandkar at no.3 scored an effortless and a graceful 143 off just 160balls. Anup smashed 16fours and a six as he solidified the PJ Hindu Gymkhana’s innings. Apart from him, Sachin Wagh also chipped in with a crucial 68 at the middle order. From DY Patil, Prashant Bhoir and Shashank Singh chipped in with 3wkts each.

DY Patil in reply gave an amazing reply as they scored 366/4 in 66.1 overs. Openers Shoaib and Arun failed to give a great start but it was Aman Khan who came back in his elements as he scored a brutal 88 off just 51balls (14fours, 2sixes) Aman played in a style which suits him the best as he scored 88 at a strike rate of 172.55. However, the batting feast was about to come and did not ended with Aman’s batting histrionics as Shubham Ranjane at no.4 scored an elegant looking 166 off 183balls (18fours, 4sixes) which completely resurrected the innings back for DY Patil. Shubham scored runs freely and played some proper cricketing shots which were pleasing to the eyes. Yogesh Takawale at no.5 also gave a good support as he scored 64 off just 76balls at no.5. DY Patil won the match on 1st innings lead and a large part must definitely go to Shubham’s 166. Cricketgraph congratulates Shubham and the whole team while wishes luck to all the players for their upcoming matches.

An important aspect in a cricket team’s success is the possession of a skilled fast
bowler. Different formats of cricket matches put different physical demands on the
bowlers. Such formats range from a 5 day test match to a one day match. Increase in
popularity of T20 format amongst spectators has put the players into new physical
challenges since the game is fast. While injuries are inevitable in this sport, it is possible to
minimize the chances of sufferings by using correct techniques and training.
Low back pain is prevalent in fast bowlers especially the young still maturing ones.
Repetitive actions while bowling cause overuse, and symptoms begin to crop up with time.
Excessive rotatory motion for long periods of time may even lead to stress fractures of the
vertebrae. Reports suggest that the force of more than 8-10 times the body weight is
transmitted through the body at the time of front foot landing of delivery stride. When this
is combined with extremes of back bending and rotations, the lower back is put at
increased risk of injury.
In view of this, exercise training of these players should include both mobility as well
as stability components. A good balance between the length and strength of muscles play a
very important role. Good warm up and cool down sessions must include stretches of the
hamstrings, quads, gluts, piriformis, calves, back, and shoulders. Hip muscle strengthening
gives power to the bowler which in turn increases the stability and the speed of the ball.
Training should include good core stability control to prevent excessive lower back
rotations. Exercises like lunges, jump squats, pulling and pushing target muscle groups that
are required in bowling. Shoulder stability exercises especially rotator cuff strengthening
should also be a vital part of the training.
Since landing of the bowler is a high impact activity, good shock absorbing shoes
must be looked for with a good arch support. Technique correction plays a very important
role in injury prevention. High use of upper limb strength in lieu of a correct technique
increases the possibility of injury. Results happen over time and not overnight, work hard
and stay patient. Use the correct techniques and stay fit.
Well the month of October was dominated more by the bowlers than the batsman as the wickets were wet and supporting the bowlers in the 1st half of the month where the rains where still there. Spinners in particular really dominated the month while pace bowlers also did a good job but many a times because of less bounce due to wet tracks, spinners got more support than the pacers.
The amount of cricketers believing in our analysis and the amount of cricketers valuing our monthly rankings has gone up every month as everyone knows that the Cricketgraph panel goes through every possible tournaments, matches and individual performances in Mumbai to filter out the top 5 every month. It won’t be an exaggeration or an over statement to say that Cricketgraph monthly rankings are as equal to what ICC rankings are at international level.
Hence for the month of October, these are the top 5 knocks in Mumbai-
Joint 5th– Ayush Jethwa (Off-spin)- 6/5, CPCC Tournament .

Played at the Sainath Sports Club, Ayush has raised his stakes as a professional cricketer over the last 2 years with consistent all round performances. In fact he has been in a terrific form since the last few months. This particular match was the all important semi finals of the CPCC Tournament where in Payyade were made to bowl first by the CPCC boys. Ayush came up with staggering bowling figures as he went on to take 6/5 in 8overs which made CPCC all out for just 81 runs. Eventually his team won the match and Ayush was the standout performer.

His team Sporting CC was bundled out for 123runs and defending 123, Sail came up with match winning bowling figures of 8/17 which eventually led PDTSA’s downfall as they were all out for just 90 runs. 4th– Jas Lalan (Left arm Spinner)- 7/13, Kanga League 2017

Played at the Sunder CC, Cross maidan in Mumbai, it was a C Div match between two promising teams namely John Bright and Jolly Cricketers where in Jolly Cricketers won the toss and took the safe decision of bowling first.
Their decision to bowl first was spot on as John Bright were skittled out for just 48 runs in 17overs. 10 out of 11 batsmen failed to score in two digits and the major reason for that damage was this talented left-arm spinner Jash Lalan who cleaned up the entire batting line of John Bright. Jash came up with envious and magnificent bowling figures of 7/13 in 5 overs which created the maximum damage. Jash extracted the best from the wicket and confused the batsman with his wily spin not giving any room to the opposition batsman. It was his bowling which helped his team Jolly Cricketers win the match on 1st innings. Overall Jash had taken 9wkts in the match.
3rd– Aliasgar Badami (left arm spinner)- 6/7 Kanga League ‘17

Played between Souvenir CC and Kamath Memorial at the Oval Maidan, Souvenir CC were all out for just 102runs which was definitely a low total. However, Aliasgar Badami from Souvenir helped his team bounce back with a match winning bowling spell of 6/7 which restricted Kamath Memorial to just 70 all out. His team eventually won the match on 1st innings because of that terrific spell.
2nd –OM Vadher– 5/1, (Right arm medium pacer) DSO Tournament ‘17

What’s more that 16balls also included a hat trick in his 2nd over which did the maximum damage.
And finally at no.1…..
1.Amogh Karthik– 8wkts/2 run, DSO Tournament ‘17

Amogh Kartik came up with sensational bowling figures which are still hard to believe! Right arm medium pacer Amogh took 8wkts in mere 16balls which also included 2wkts in 2balls twice. Amogh bowled at amazing line and length and tops the list for October in Mumbai. The match was played at the Oval Maidan between VVHS and Shiv Samarth where in VVHS made 156/6 while Amogh’s terrific bowling restricted Shiv Samarth to just 3runs all out!

Played at the Western Railway, Cross Maidan, it was a match between two talented teams namely Esplanade Liberals CC and MB Union CC where in Esplanade Liberals won the toss and elected to bat first considering the rains are over and the pitch may have something for the batsman.
However, Esplanade Liberals were all out for just 114 in 32.4 overs where in hardly any batsman managed to make much of an impact. From the bowling side, all the bowlers did well chipping with wickets or two. In form Rakesh Naik was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3/12 in 9overs with 5 maidens. In reply, MB Union CC batted really strong as they had to declare their innings after scoring 300/5 in 53.3 overs. Right handed opener Tushar Tiwari scored a magnificent 113 off just 119balls. Tushar hardly took any time and kept the score board ticking as he smashed 15fours and 2 sixes at a healthy strike rate of almost 95. Tushar also shared a match winning partnership of 156 with all-rounder Rakesh Naik who scored a timely 90 off 106 deliveries. Right handed Rakesh who smashed 9fours and 2sixes fell just 2runs short of what could have been his 2nd ton in Kanga this season.
Eventually, MB Union CC won the match on 1st innings lead and it was largely responsible because of these two players. Also with this perfomance Rakesh takes his tally of runs to 257 coupled with 11wkts making him one of the most utility all-rounders of this year’s Kanga. Cricketgraph congratulates both the players and the winning team while wishes luck to both the teams for their upcoming matches.

Two old prestigious teams of Mumbai namely the Parsee Gymkana and Cricket Club of India clashed against each other at the Parsee Gymkhana ground in Marine Lines where in CCI won the toss and elected to bowl first expecting the pitch to support the bowlers.
However, Parsee Gymkhana made 367/7 in 70 overs and batted really well. Both the prolific openers Akarshit Gomel (42) and Bravish Shetty (52) gave an excellent start which developed the positive momentum. Right handed Nikhil Patil at no.3 continued the good start provided by the openers as he went on to score a brisk 100 off 143balls. Nikhil displayed a solid cricketing sense while his mate at no.4 believed in attacking the bowlers. Ashay Sardesai came in at no.4 and scored 135 off just 130balls which included 21fours and a six while also stitched a 200run stand with Nikhil. CCI were all out for 340/10 in 57 overs where in Paul Valthaty, Sujit Nayak, Shashikant Kadam scored half centuries while Saksham remained unbeaten on 48*. Parsee Gymkhana won the match on 1st innings lead while it was Ashay and Nikhil’s ton & Sujit’s all round show which remain the highlight performances of the match. It was also in good spirits to see that young Nikhil was thankful to his coach Vinayak Mane for his brilliant batting.

India has over the years got great batsman, decent all rounders but only a handful of fast bowlers who have taken more than 250 ODI wickets apart from Agarkar, Srinath and Zaheer. India has always been in a shortage of genuine pace bowling talent and when such young kids perform like this, it just renews our hopes that India has a lot of talent in every nook and corner.
15yr old Anzar Mirza who is looking so promising with the ball in the Harris Shield is surely showing his mettle with the ball. Anzar’s youthfulness and energy is almost the same as Bangaldesh’s Mustafizur Rehman or Pakistan’s Mohamad Amir who all are young fast bowlers. Fresh from 6/17 in the 1st match he played against St. Joseph, this time his team Anjuman Islam clashed against Abhinav Vidya Mandir Borivali at the Oval Maidan where in Anjumam Islam won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first, Anjuman Islam scored 259 in 45 overs where in opener Devraj Rangu scored a fantastic 90 while Yusuf Wadiwala at the middle order scored a crucial 55. The bowlers did a decent job with everyone picking up a wicket or two.
Chasing 260 in 45 overs in never an easy task and Abhinav Vidya Mandir were hardly aware about the havoc which Anzar was about to bring as he went on to rip the entire batting line up of the opposition with terrific bowling figures of 6/8 in 10.1 overs and 4 maidens. The zone which Anzar is in and the line and length at which he is bowling is really impressive for his age as Abhnav Vidya Mandir were all out for just 72runs helping his team win the match again by a big margin of 187runs. Cricketgraph congratulates the young prodigy Anzar while wishes all the boys luck for a great season ahead.

We have heard about back to back hundreds, Gavaskar, Dravid, Azharuddin, Ganguly all have done that in their test careers, but have we heard about back to back double hundreds in cricket? Yes! Sumit Ghadigaonkar just did that in the ongoing police shield tournament where he scored a breath taking 204ball 229 just a week ago and has followed it up with a yet another swashbuckling ton vs Islam Gymkhana at the MIG Cricket club.
MIG CC had won the toss and elected to bat first as they have a strong batting line up. Right handed opener Sumit Ghadigaonkar once again started his innings in typical fashion counter attacking the bowlers from the very 1st over. Sumit whose batting approach in test format reminds us of Nathan Astle and Sehwag to some extent went on to score his consecutive double hundred scoring 200 off just 186balls which included 21fours and 3sixes. What’s more he got an equally aggressive partner at the middle order in the name of Siddarth Chitnis who also scored a magnificent 164 off mere 127 deliveries. Both the boys stitched a match winning partnership of 299runs in a really quick time. Right handed Siddarth who came in at no.5 smashed 14fours and 8sixes to enthrall his team mates and the spectators alike. Also not many know that Siddarth is a proven cricketer who has played for Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians & Rajasthan Royals in IPL. Off Spinner Shoaib Khan bowled well as he was the pick of the bowlers taking 5/140 in 19 overs. MIG CC declared their innings at 472/8 in 70 overs.

Islam Gymkhana in reply were bundled out for 248 runs where in all-rounder Shoeb, in-form Hashif and wicket keeper batsman Mehboob Shaikh chipped in with half centuries. Off spinner Ankush Jaiswal was accurate and impressive with the ball as he took 5/38 in 12.2 overs which did the maximum damage to the Islam’s batting line up. MIG CC won the match comfortably but it was Sumit, Siddarth and Ankush who impacted at large and grabbed the attention. Cricketgraph congratulates MIG CC while wishes luck to all the players for their upcoming matches.

The ongoing Harris Shield has been an excellent platform for youngsters since many years to display their talent. This is the platform which gives opportunities to talented prodigies to play at their fullest. Pratham More is one such kid who has showed a lot of promise for his age and looks set to progress leaps and bounds in cricket. The left-arm orthodox spinner is also a proper all-rounder and is a must have for any team. Quite evident from his current form where he took 6/10 in 7overs in the 1st match a few days ago followed by a stunning all-round show in the second.
Played between Yashodham High School and CNMS at cross maidan in Mumbai, CNMS won the toss and elected to bowl first as they thought the pitch might have something for the bowlers. However, Yashodham boys gave a terrific show with the bat as they scored 198/6 in 34 overs. All-rounder Pratham More who came in at no.3 scored a scintillating hundred smashing 107 off just 70balls. Young Pratham confidently took on the bowlers as he smashed 14fours and 2sixes to anchor his team to a good total. The rest of the batsman chipped in and gave him support.

Chasing 199 in 34 overs is always going to be a pressure situation where CNMS school were all out just 125runs. The star batsman of the match was also the star bowler as he took 4/39 in 9overs becoming the pick of the bowlers. Aryan and Sairaj More also bowled well taking 2wkts each. Also Jugraj’s bowling in the first match where he conceded only 20runs in 20overs for 2wkts was commendable. In fact Jugraj attained one of the best economies in the tournament with that spell. Cricketgraph congratulates the talented Pratham and this promising lot of bowlers as the entire team looks promising enough to make their school proud!

Played at the Cross Maidan Ground in Mumbai, two talented young teams namely Lilavati Bal Podar High school and St. Mary school clashed against each other where in Podar boys won the toss and elected to bowl first as the wicket had something for the bowlers.

Their decision to bowl first was spot on as St. Mary school were all out for just 71runs. Apart from their opener Chinmay, none of the batsman managed to score in two digits and a major reason for that damage was this talented spin duo of Abbas Karachiwala and Rohit Joshi. Right arm leg spinner Rohit and right arm off spinner Abbas bowled like a team of two together reminding us of the old kumble-harbhajan days! Rohit came up with excellent bowling figures of 5/21 in 5 overs while his mate Abbas took an impressive 5/31 in 12 overs. Both the bowlers hardly allowed the batsman to score runs freely while they kept on taking wickets at regular intervals.
Chasing a score of 72, it was a mere formality for the Podar Boys as they chased down the score quickly and won the match comfortably by 8wkts. It was a match dominated single handedly by these two young prodigies as they took 10wkts together which also became the highlight perfomance of the match. Cricketgraph congratulates both the bowlers and the whole team for their win whiles luck to all the boys for a great cricketing season ahead.

Played at the Elphinstone College, Oval Maidan in Mumbai, Oxford Public School and Parle Tilak Vidyamandir Marathi clashed against each other where in Parle Tilak boys won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first, Parle Tilak were all out for just 112 in 48.3 overs which was not the best of the totals to defend. The bowler who did the maximum damage was Oxford’s right arm leg spinner Parikshit Dhanak who impressed one and all with his terrific bowling figures of 7/38 in 15.3 overs. Parikshit kept on bowling in the right areas and made the ball turn which consistently troubled the batsman. In reply, Oxford public school chased down the score in just 34.4 overs and won the match by 6wkts. Parikshit was definitely the standout performer of the match and certainly looks really promising!
In the other match between Al-barkat high school and Fatima High school at cross united ground opp. Azad Maidan, Al Barkat won the toss and elected to bat first scoring a healthy total of 314 where Himashu was the highest scorer with 47* followed by Nisar Shaikh’s 43. Off Spinner Ayush Bidwai was the only shining spot in a match dominated by the Al-barkat batsman as he fought like a lone warrior taking 7/107 in 17 overs against the Al-barkat boys. Though his team lost by 222runs where in Mansoor Saud took 4/6 for Al-barkaat, Ayush certainly managed to grab all the attention with his impressive bowling. Cricketgraph congratulates both the talented kids while wishes luck to all the players for a great cricketing season ahead.
