When the chips are down and someone comes to the rescue, that’s when the real class and resilience of a player is tested and talented Nikhil Patil just did that recently in the Times Shield scoring a hundred at a time when the wickets were falling from the other end. Played at the cross maidan, BPSA (Bharat Petroleum Sports Association) won the toss and elected to bowl first with the back of their good bowling line up.
Their decision was actually spot on with Tata sports struggling at 2wickets down for 9runs and 4wkts down for 40 runs at one stage. They were looking all set to be bundled out for just 100-110runs. But that was not the case as right handed Nikhil Patil at no.4 anchored the innings and resurrected the innings back like a surgeon scoring a valiant 100* off 170balls(17fours). Nikhil looked really confident and different from the rest of the batsman who were not able to convert their starts as he kept the score board ticking and dealt in boundaries too helping Tata Sports reach a somewhat respectable total of 193/all out in 53.2 overs. Medium pacer Abhishek Nayar has decided that he will let his perfomance do the talking as he looks all set for a domestic comeback with consistent performances so far. Continuing his form from the last match, Nayar went on to take 6/32 in this match in 18.2 overs which did the maximum damage. Abhishek was really bowling at a nice pace and was able to hit the right line and length. BPSA on the other hand declared at 220/9 with opener Bhavin scoring 41 while Suryakumar Yadav and all-rounder Abhishek Nayar both scoring half centuries at the middle order.
Tata Sports were again bundled out for 138 runs where in Nikhil top scored with 32 while Nayar was again the pick of the bowlers with 4/34 taking his tally of wickets to 10 in this match. Medium pacer Tushar Deshpande also bowled well bagging 4wkts. With a lead of just 72runs, BPSA chased down the score in just 8.4 overs and won the match by 9wkts. BPSA looked dominating throughout the match and Nayar’s all-round show coupled with Nikhil Patil’s fighting 100* remain the highlight performances of the match.

Played between DY Patil ‘A” and Central Railways Cricket Association at the iconic DY Patil ground. It was a match between two prolific teams namely DY Patil and Central Railway Sports Association where in Central Railways won the toss and elected to field first.

Their decision to bowl first against such a strong and in form batting line up was certainly not the best as what was about to come was a complete run scoring feast for DY. Openers Anand Singh & Shoaib Shaikh once again gave a great start but it was Rahul lad and Shubham Ranjane at no.3 & 4 who stitched an epic 300run stand between themselves. Both the batsman applied themselves really well to the crease and took on the bowlers with elegance. While Rahul scored a calm and composed 187 off 264 balls (19fours, 1six), Shubham on the other hand was aggressive right from the start as he notched up a stunning double ton scoring 218* off just 195 deliveries (21fours, 3sixes). Both the players smashed some really good cricketing shots which were nothing but pleasing to the eyes. The form in which Shubham is, he is really looking set to achieve bigger things in cricket as he has proved his batting worth by amassing over 1000runs in a span of just one month. DY Patil on the back of these two batsmen reached a mammoth 635/8 in 125.2 overs.

Central Railway Sports Association on the other hand gave a tough fight surviving 122 overs without getting all-out. Even though their top order failed to fire, Nikhil Pardkar at no.4 chipped in with 44 followed by a really fighting and match saving 117* off 298balls by Harshad Rawale. Harshad faced 298 deliveries with patience and resilience to escape his team from the jaws of defeat. Sanket Bhaye down the order also played a crucial role smashing 53 thus taking their team total to 314/7 in 122 where no 1st innings result could be obtained. Even though the match turned out to be a draw, it was Shashank’s terrific form along with his 300run stand with the classy Rahul lad which remained the highlight perfomance of the match. Harshad’s match saving 117* was also equally commendable.

The best part about attacking batsman is that they have an innate ability to change the game in a span of few minutes or a few overs. They are brutal and entertaining at the same time and GSC Knight’s sagar shah just provide that does of entertainment which his team mates must have enjoyed with a thrill.
Played at the Aarey Bhaskar Cricket Ground in Mumbai, Knights won the toss and elected to bat first as they have a strong batting line up. Openers once again gave a flying start with Umar Khan Dinesh Natekar scoring quick 30’s while Sagar Shah who came in at no.3 pounced on the positive momentum left behind by the openers. Overseas players are equally talented as our Indian counterparts and they are really hard to defeat. In a one such match between NCC (National Cricket Club) and Tringle Rovers Club where players who have come from South Africa, NCC won the toss and elected to bat first on their own home turf at the National CC ground. While at one side was a talented African side, on the other hand was a team playing on its own soil which was hard to defeat. So an exciting competition was bound to happen.
Batting first, openers Aditya Satpute and Nilesh Bhavar gave a solid start which developed a positive momentum. While Aditya fell just 2runs short of a deserving half century as he was caught out on 48 off 52balls (4fours) playing the anchor’s innings. Nilesh Bhavar on the other hand scored a 35ball 36(4fours,2sixes) while Vasudev Kumbhra accelerated the innings with a quick 15ball 28 to take the team total to 152/6 in 20overs which is not the biggest of scores to defend but surely defendable if bowled well in a T20 match.
NCC gave a brilliant fightback with the ball as they restricted Tringle Rover boys to just 128/6 in 20 overs. Ashish Pardesi was the pick of the bowlers taking 2/19 in 4 overs making it a very impressive spell while the rest of the bowlers also bowled really tight. National Cricket Club won the match by 24runs and opener Aditya was declared ‘man of the match’

Aggressive & hard hitting batsmen are always entertaining to watch. It’s worth every penny watching them in full flow attacking the bowlers. Parth Tulsakar just did that with his brutal 77 off mere 32 deliveries entertaining the crowd and showcasing his vast hitting abilities.
Played at the Aarey Bhaskar Ground at Goregaon, Mumbai, MTA won the toss and elected to field first in order to make a big total and put the Starboys under pressure. Batting first, MTA posted a really good total of 139/8 in 15 overs. Even though the openers fell early but Nilesh Karnekar (33 off 22b) and Shantanu Shinde (50 off 32b) resurrected the innings back with their crucial partnership. Sameer Masurkar and Prakash Naik from Starboys bowled well taking 2wkts each.
Chasing 140runs in just 90balls is always difficult and Starboys did felt some early jitters as they lost 2 quick wickets despite opener Vinayak Mahaske scoring a 25ball 45. Parth tulaskar who came in at no.4 changed the script of the game in a span of few overs as he literally took on the bowlers with his counter attacking cricket. Parth remained unbeaten on 77* off 32balls at a strike rate of 240 (10fours and 5sixes) and pushed Starboys to a thumping win. His batting certainly reminded us of AB de Villiers who once scored 84 off36balls coming in at no.4 for RCB! Starboys eventually won the match by 6wkts and 3.5 overs to spare while Parth was rightly adjudged ‘man of the match’ for his batting histrionics.
