Played at the MIG Cricket Club in Mumbai between two promising teams, Parel SC and Bhatnagar S & CF took on each other where in Bhatnagar won the toss and elected to field first with an aim of restricting the opposition to a low total.

Parel SC batting first managed to score a heavy total of 385/9 on the back of their talented openers namely Jude and Varun as they stitched a stunning partnership of 209 in mere 25.4 overs which set the tone for Parel’s innings. While left-handed Jude went on to score 139 off mere 102 deliveries (14fours, 7sixes), his opening partner Varun Lavande smashed a 77ball 92 falling just 8runs short of a very deserving ton. Both the boys looked extremely confident as they played some wonderful cricketing shots and kept the run rate afloat above 7.5. Parel SC’s skipper Gaurav Chavan also made a handy contribution at the middle order smashing a 29ball 57 as he played his natural game. Spinner Yogesh Sawant with 3/52 and Gaurav Bengre with 3/72 were the pick of the bowlers for Bhatnagar.

Played at the Vengsarkar Academy in Mahul, certainly a history was created by Dasrath as he came up with the best bowling figures you can ever hear in a T20 game where bowlers are allowed only 24balls to bowl. Dasrath’s bowling figures were so astonishing that he took wicket at an average of every 3rd ball he bowled vs VK Architects who elected to bat first after winning the toss.
Vengsarkar Academy is not the best wicket for batsman but still you can easily score 130-140odd runs on this wicket but fast bowler Dasrath from SSA strikers ran through the entire batting line up of VK Architects as he came up with match winning bowling figures of 8/9 in 4overs with 2maidens where he completely looked unplayable. Not a single batsman was able to score in 2digits as VK architects were all out for mere 23runs.
To further add insult to the injury, SSA Strikers not only won the match by 10wkts but they chased down the total in mere 1.4 overs with their openers doing their job. SSA Strikers fetch a thumping win over VK Architects and Dasrath Reddij was obviously declared ‘man of the match’ for his heroic bowling. Where in 8wkt hauls are rarest of the rare even in a 50over ODI, Dasrath just did the unthinkable of coming up with a 8wkt haul in a T20 game.

Ranjane who has already amassed well over 1200runs this season with an average of above 100+ continues to amaze us with his consistency. This time it in this match it was not only about consistency but also the way he played. Shubham literally toyed with the bowlers and showed them the zone which he in while Shoaib on the other hand keeps on proving that he is one of the most dependable openers around.

In the match vs Muslim United, DY Patil won the toss and elected to bat first with their obviously strong batting line up on their own turf(DY Patil Ground). Opening the innings, Shoaib Shaikh hammered the bowlers with a 101ball 130 (14fours, 4sixes) counter attacking right from the word go. Shubham Ranjane on the other hand stamped his presence all over as he went on to score a brilliant knock of 164* coming off mere 94deliveries at a astonishing strike of 175 which included 16fours and 6sixes. Seemed like DY Patil batsman came at the crease with already plans in their mind of simply attacking. The entertainment was not over yet with Yogesh Takawale missing out by just 5runs on what could have been the fastest centuries of all time in Times Shield. Yogesh scored 95 coming of mere 40deliveries (6fours, 6sixes) taking their team total to a record 526/6 dec in 42overs.
In reply, Muslim United were bundled out for 172/9 in 34.2 overs with opener Satyalaksh top scoring with 47. Medium pacers Atul Singh(3/29) & Aman Khan (2/36) were the pick of the bowlers as DY Patil won the match by a big margin of 354runs.

Seems like this attacking opener Sumit has a penchant to score big knocks just like Sehwag. Once he gets going he just can’t stop is what seems like by his current form this season. The man who scored two back to back double hundreds in the Police Shield Tournament in November missed out by just 7runs in the Talim Shield to make it his 3rd double this season.
Played at the United Cricketers Ground in Mumbai, MIG CC and United Cricketers took on each other where in United Cricketers won the toss and elected to field first. Even though Sumit’s opening partner fell early but Sumit went on to score a big ton. He has in fact developed a nack of converting his hundreds into big as he again smashed 193 off mere 135balls. Sumit played like as if it was a T20 game hitting 25fours and 7sixes much to the entertainment of his team mates and the spectators alike. Siddarth Chitnis at the middle order also contributed with a gritty 51 taking their team total to a mammoth 373/7 in 45overs. From United Cricketers, Rahul Sawant with 4/77 was the pick of the bowlers.
Chasing a big total of 374 in mere 270balls is a pressure situation and United Cricketers managed to just score 161/8 in 45overs. Left arm spinner Vijay Gohil with 4/28 in 9overs was thoroughly impressive while pacer Nikhil Date with 3/28 also did a good job with the ball. MIG won the match by a healthy margin of 212runs where in Sumit’s attacking 193 remained the highlight perfomance of the match.

After a lot of hardwork put by the boys and intenseful competetions, ICICI and Inditrade finally reached the all important finals of the Pulse Tournament which was held at National Cricket Club in Mumbai. Inditrade won the toss and elected to bat first expecting to make a big 1st innings score.

Inditrade could have batted better but most of the batsmen fell out early as they were all out for 129runs where in Navin Patil at the middle order who has played well throughout the tournament top scored with a gritty 46(6fours and a six). Right-arm lef spinner Harshad Gharat bowled a mesmerizing spell of 6/13 in 2.3 overs which inflicted maximum damage on the Inditrade’s batting line up. Harshad not only took crucial wickets but also bowled some unplayable deliveries in his short yet impressive spell.

However, inditrade gave a fantastic fightback as they successfully defended even such a low total of 129 bundling out ICICI to mere 78runs/all-out in 16 overs. Apart from their openers, no one was able to convert their scores in two digits. Vijendra Yadav(4/30) & Bharat Singh(3/26) bowled really well together as they did not allow the batsman to score freely while Naveen Patil (1wkt) & Ajinkya Balkate(2wkts) also contributed well with the ball. Inditrade won the all important finals and win the tournament where in Navin Patil was declared ‘man of the series”, Harshad Gharat was declared ‘man of the match’ and Inditrade were crowned with the Pulse Tournament Cup.

Attacking openers are always a threat as they can change the game quickly and Pranay K from Morgan Stanley just did that recently with his attacking batting which took the game away from Edelweiss. Winning the toss, Edelweiss elected to bat first at the Elphinstone ground.
Batting first Edelweiss notched up an average total of 138/all out in 20 overs. Edelweiss were off to a bad start with their top 3 losing quick wickets but it was middle order which somehow saved the grace and especially Rajesh who scored a fighting 52 off 44 deliveries (5fours,1six). Kshitij I with 3/18 in 4overs and Sagar with 2/15 were the pick of the bowlers restraining the batsmen from scoring freely.
Chasing 139 is most of the times a formality unless the team comes up with extra ordinary bowling and Morgan Stanley chased down the score with ease. Attacking opener Pranay K anchored the chase till the end as he scored an entertaining and a match winning knock of 84* off just 55deliveries(10fours, 2sixes). Pranay took on the bowlers with confidence and give proper treatment to the loose balls too as his team won the match by 5wkts and 3.1 overs to spare. It was Morgan Stanley’s day as they fired well from all the departments while Pranay K was declared ‘man of the match’

Played at the Cross Maidan between two experienced teams namely JP Morgan and Western Railways, JP Morgan won the toss and elected to bat first as the Cross Maidan wicket always tends to favor the batsman more.

Batting first, JP Morgan notched up 285/9 runs in 45 overs which is definitely a good score to defend. Opener Raj Gohil scored a solid 53 while Sandesh Kunder who came in at no.7 when wickets were down at a low score on the board completely changed the game in a span of an hour. Sandesh came in and brutally attacked the bowlers scoring 104 off mere 44deliveries which included 8fours and as many as 9sixes much to the entertainment of his team mates and the spectators. It was Sandesh’s counter attacking cricket which took their team total to a defendable one. Also this stunning exhibition of 44ball hundred becomes the fastest ton of this year’s Times Shield while also amongst the Top 10 fastest Times Shield tons ever. Vaibhav Patil and Vineet Mehta with 2wkts each were the pick of the bowlers.
Chasing at more than 6runs per over, Western Railways did felt the early jitters when they lost 3quick wickets but it was their dependable pair of Patils-Amul and Vaibhav which stitched a match winning partnership of 170+ which brought them back into the game. While Amul got out on 92 which was nothing short of an elegant knock, Vaibhav on the other hand scored a solid 84. Their partnership already did the damage by the time they were out as the rest of the batsman below them completed the chase. From JP, Nikhil D with 2wickets and Nikhil J with 4wkts bowled really well. Western Railways won the match where in Amul & Vaibhav played a big role while Sandesh’s dominating ton from JP Morgan was equally impressive.

This was a day the opposition I.C.S college of KHED will never forget in the longest time as Khalsa boys literally demolished the bowlers with their aggressive batting notching up a record highest total in this tournament ever. Played at the National Cricket Club, Cross Maidan, Khalsa won the toss and elected to bat first with an aim of making a big 1st innings total.
Their decision to bat first was quite spot on as Khalsa College went on to make a mammoth 570/7 in 45overs which is quite unheard of. Openers Jayesh pokhare and Bhavan Taneja literally took away the game from the very 1st ball with an epic 100runs stand coming off mere 30 deliveries. The positive momemtum was already set for the rest of the batsman to capitalize upon. Japjeet Singh Randhawa continued the positive momentum as he played an anchoring knock of 116 coming of mere 85 deliveries. Sanath Wagal also gave a handy contribution smashing 74runs off 50balls which eventually took their team total to such a big one.
On the other hand, Khalsa also restricted ICS to mere 89runs/all out where in Yash Chavan bowled a match winning spell taking 5wkts and stamping his presence as a frontline bowler. All-rounders Bhavan Taneja(3wkts) and Jaydeep (2wkts) gave a perfect all-round contribution in the game which played a big role today in Khalsa creating history where they also won by a record margin of 480runs. It was definitely Khalsa’s day and all the boys collectively played well together.
