Played at the Cross Maidan, it was a match between two really talented teams of Mumbai at school level i.e Gokuldham High School and SVIS where in Gokuldham school won the toss and elected to bat first with an aim of making a big total.
However, Gokuldham School were made to face a bowler unleashed by SVIS on the right time as Akash Mishra made the batsman struggle with his disciplined bowling. Akash not only kept on bowling in the right areas but also took wickets at regular intervals which restricted Gokuldham to just 76/all-out in 26.1 overs. Akash Mishra with 5/16 in 8.1overs (1maiden) bowled quite a commendable spell being the pick of the bowlers while Aryan badhe also took 2wkts.
In reply, SVIS chased down the score in a commanding fashion as their openers finished the game in style in mere 11.1 overs. Sourabh Singh scored an unbeaten 38* off 39balls while his partner Malhar Mane remained unbeaten on 25* off 39balls helping SVIS win the match by 10wkts. SVIS dominated this match right from the start and it was certainly Akash’s bowling which remained the highlight perfomance of the match.

Played at the MIG Cricket Club, two promising teams of Mumbai namely Parkophene Cricketers and Payyade Cricket Club took on each other where in Parkophene boys won the toss and elected to field first with an aim of winning while chasing a low total.

However, Payyade boys did a fairly decent job with the bat notching up 308runs in 45 overs. Opener Usaid scored a timely 58 off 64balls while the experienced Vikrant Auti who came in at no.3 set the tone for the Payyade innings as he went on to score an attacking 127 off just 104balls. Vikrant who smashed 13fours and 3sixes looked really good and did good running between the wickets. He also scored a big ton recently in Times Shield, so he is certainly looking in good form. Parag K at the middle order also chipped in with 44 while Quickster Badree Alam and experienced Pardeep Sahu took 2wkts each.
Chasing a 300 plus score is not always easy, in fact it’s tough. However their openers- promising Suved Parkar and the experienced Tanmay Mishra gave a thumping 179run stand which completed more than half of the job. While the talented Suved smashed a brutal 100 off mere 75deliveries (12fours, 3sixes), Tanmay on the other hand fell just one run short of an elegant 100. Tanmay was dismissed on 99(104b, 13fours and a six) by Kalpesh Sawant but by the damage was already done. Salman Ahmed’s valiant 50 off 48balls at no.5 made sure they chased down the score successfully as Parkophene Cricketers won the match by 2wkts and an over to spare. It was a well fought match by both the teams where in Vikrant, Tanmay and Suved stood out with their individual performances.

Mumbai’s favourite pen brand NATARAJ PENS is all set to woo the young cricketers of Mumbai soon. Just like food, clothing, and shelter are the necessities of a common man, NATRAJ PENS are the basic necessities of a student. To fight a battle, a warrior is well-equipped with weapons. Drawing parallels with cricket and education, a bat is the weapon of a batsman, a ball is the weapon of the bowler, and in school /college or any examination, NATARAJ PENS is the most crucial weapon of the students.
In the island city that has produced batting legends like Rohit Sharma and Sachin Tendulkar, NATARAJ PENS in collaboration with CricketGraph, has come up with a novel idea in the form of “Mumbai ka Accurate Bowler” competition to hunt for an accurate bowler from schools & colleges. It is a well-designed competition consisting of three rounds.
The contest is broken in three rounds. In the first round, all the three stumps will be placed for the bowlers, who will be required to hit them at least once out of the three chances, to qualify for the second round. In the second round, the bowlers will again have three attempts to have a shy at the stumps, the only change being, one of the stumps (not the middle stump) will be taken away. This means that in the second round, bowlers will have to hit at least once at two stumps. In the third, only the middle stump will be standing its ground and the bowlers will have just one stump to aim at.
Like Arjuna who could see just the eye of the bird, the bowlers will be expected to emulate Arjuna’s concentration powers and hit the bull’s eye i.e. the middle stump. One of the most fascinating things about this competition is that the stumps that will be used will be no ordinary sticks but the NATARAJ PENS that will stand tall and face the bowlers.
CricketGraph has handpicked various cricket academies in Mumbai to conduct the trials for the school and college students. Bowlers who qualify for the third round at academy level will get a wild card entry directly to second round of the grand finale.
NATARAJ PENS will be generously showering the winners at academy level with loads of awards which includes English willow cricket bats, cricket shoes, cricket kit bags, along with loads of exciting goodies.
So, all the budding cricketers of schools and colleges, pull up your socks to not only participate in NATARAJ PENS “Mumbai ka accurate bowler” competition and win exciting cricket goodies.
Also the winner gets media coverage on our website as well as on social media by Cricketgraph giving him/her a lot of exposure which can make him/her star overnight.
CricketGraph and the entire cricket community appreciates this initiative by NATARAJ PENS.

Two old and experienced teams of Mumbai namely PJ Hindu Gymkhana and Police Gymkhana clashed against each other at the Police Gymkhana ground where in PJ Hindu Gymkhana won the toss and elected to field first in order to restrict the opposition to a low total and put them under pressure.
Their decision to field first was not the most accurate as Police Gymkhana amassed 366/5 on the board in 45 overs. Opener Shahid Shaikh set the tone for the innings as he scored an entertaining knock of 147 coming off mere 92balls. Shahid did not spare a single bowler as he meted out the same treatment to all and i.e to attack. His knock included 12fours and as many as 9sixes much to the delight of the spectators and his team mates alike. Chirag Khurana(77 off 45balls) and Swapnil Kulaye(75 off 46balls) were equally impressive with the bat as they smashed wonderful half centuries. Both the players attacked with confidence at the middle order taking their team to a more than respectable total to defend.
In reply, PJ Hindu Gymkhana fought well but eventually fell short by 72runs. The openers fell early but Sujit Haravi(87 off 89b) and Sachin Wagh(68 off 50) at one point brought their team back into the game with their solid batting. Sujay Thakkar with 52 also chipped in but eventually the Police Gymkhana bowlers outwitted the batsman with Santosh, Yogesh and all-rounder Chirag Khurana bagging 2wkts each. Police Gymkhana won the match where in the whole team contributed well but it was opener Shahid who stood out with his counter attacking knock of 147.

Maulik who as amassed 648runs this season, Maulik who also scored a scintillating 178 in KSG Tournament is again back with a bang and this time he adds another leaf to his records as he smashes a 32ball ton to stamp his authority as one of the most attacking batsman in Mumbai local cricket.

Played between KSG Challengers and KSGRO at the old Payyade Ground, the strong KSG Challengers won the toss and elected to bat first. Even though they were 26/4 at one stage, their middle order simply took the game away from the opposition. Vinit Parekh scored a scintillating 101 off 79balls(14foours, 3sixes) and resurrected the innings back while in came Maulik at no.6 as he completely mauled the bowlers and entertained his team mates and spectators once again with his firebrand batting. Maulik went on to score110 off mere 38deliveries where in he reached his hundred in a record breaking 31deliveries making it one of the all time fastest tons in Mumbai Cricket. It was fireworks everywhere as he smashed 16fours and 6sixes in his brutal batting. Vinit and Maulik also stitched a crucial 128run stand between them. However, the entertainment was not over yet as Ashok Sheth continued the carnage as he stitched a partnership of 152runs with Maulik and scoring a superb ton smashing 113 off mere 62deliveries(20fours, 2sixes) to take their team total to a mammoth 380/10 in 40overs.

In reply, KSG Royals only managed to score 243/11in 40 overs where in talented middle order bat Parth Mathuria scored 113 off 64balls (19fours, 1six). However, he lacked support from the other end as KSG Royals lost the match by 137runs. Jwalant Dalal with 4/37 was the pick of the bowlers as he bowled really well while Vinit Parekh was declared ‘man of the match’ (101 and 1wkt). It was overall a great match where we got to see 4centuries which also included the Mumbai’s fastest from the bat of Maulik.

Cricket is a long game with various requirements: explosive power, speed, agility, endurance, strength, stamina and recovery speed. High levels of concentration and zero mental fatigue are essential in a game of cricket. All of these factors are heavily influenced by what you eat.
Combined with a well planned fitness and skills based programme, eating right for your game is vital if you want to be stronger, have more endurance and play a better game. The last thing you want to do is waste all that great training by not eating right.
Food is fuel and if you fuel your body right it will keep you at the optimum level for playing cricket. Cricketers need to base their intake on nutrient- dense foods. Food intake needs to be well-timed to help with recovery between sessions. Intake may need to be adjusted to match the activity level of each day with extra snacks being included on heavier days.
Cricket often gets ignored as a potential beneficiary of correct nutrition strategies. The training for these athletes varies greatly in terms of intensity and much is based on skill work although a strong focus must exist for strength, fitness and flexibility workouts.
- Eating is just as much a part of training as lifting, running and learning plays. Whether you’re a batsmen or a bowler, you need to fuel adequately to train well, recover quickly and increase endurance.
- Specific nutrient requirements are based on your body size and position. What works for one player may not be the best strategy for someone else. Analyzing the individual’s needs and working on them should be of utmost importance.
Why is Training Nutrition important ?
Cricketers need to ensure that their training diet is well planned to coincide with their training goals and their schedule. As with most sports, training nutrition needs to focus on eating nutrient dense meals and snacks that include wholegrain cereals, fruit and vegetables, low-fat dairy products, lean meat, poultry/fish or vegetarian alternatives. In addition the timing of meals also needs to be well planned to aid rapid recovery between sessions. When players expend more energy (i.e. heavier training days) they should be encouraged to include extra snacks to fuel the extra training load.
Basic guidelines for “Hydration”
During training and playing, the body controls its temperature by losing fluids, and failing to replace those fluids is a major problem. Excessive fluid loss reduces your endurance capacity, power, and concentration and increases reaction time. Losing more than 2 percent of your body weight in sweat is detrimental to performance and health.
Hydration – raises your body’s fluid level above the normal rate counteracts and reduces the negative effects of fluid loss during games and training.
A practical way to monitor sweat loss is to weigh yourself before and after exercise. Each pound of weight lost equals one pint of fluid, and each kilogram equals one and a half liters. These losses should be replaced as soon as possible by drinking water and sports drinks.
Practice your fluid plan during the week, particularly for heavy training sessions, and get used to drinking during training. Fluid intake should happen at regular intervals during training and as well as the match day. These players should make the most of opportunities such as warm ups, breaks during over changes, fall of wickets and during fielding. Drinking at least 250 – 500ml of fluid during each break replaces fluid sweat losses. It is advisable to avoid caffeine and alcohol as they can increase fluid loss.
Route Mobile which is already a very strong team at the corporate level recently added one more leaf to their cricketing journey as they played for the first time in the C Division of the much revered Times Cricket Shield Tournament 2018 against RCF at the National CC, Cross Maidan where in Route Mobile won the toss and elected to bat first.

Their decision to bat first seemed to be completely spot on as they made a huge total of 428/6 in 70 overs which is quite impressive for a debutant team in professional cricket. Solid opener Vishal Chitrikar smashed an elegant 106 off 136balls (15fours, 1six) which developed the positive momentum right from the start. Vishal played some really good cricketing shots while he also got good support from his opening partner Vishal Dhagaokar who scored 79 off 75balls(11 fours). That was not all as Saeed Shaikh who came at no.3 continued the positive momentum left behind by the openers as he top scored with an attacking 129 off 123balls(15fours, 1six) to completely change the game in his team’s favor. Saeed also did good running between the wickets while he also stitched a good partnership with the experienced Ajikya Belose who really looked good for his stroke filled 86. Left-arm spinner Suraj Patil with 3/62 was the pick of the bowlers along with 2wkts for medium pacer Jeevan Bhoir.

Chasing 429 is a big task and RCF must have felt the pressure of chasing as they were completely bundled out for just 58runs all out in 24.2overs. Quickster Siddarth Narsumayya came up with a stunning display of fast bowling as he bagged 6/13 in 9overs. Siddarth bowled in the right areas with impressive line & length which reaped rewards for him as well as his team. Route Mobile win their 1st match by a big margin of 370runs and what a way to start their journey while Saeed, Vishal, Siddarth literally stood out in the match.

Cosmopolitan Shield Tournament witnesses a lot of players and teams who practice and fight hard to get results. It’s one of the top 10 Tournaments of Mumbai Local Cricket and reaching semis is surely commendable. It was the all important semi-finals between Navi Mumbai S.A and Gaud Saraswat CC at Western Railways ground where in Navi Mumbai won the toss and elected to field first.
Batting first, Gaud Saraswat were bundled out for just 130runs which is definitely not the best of the scores to defend and that too in the semi finals of any tournament. Ishan Wagh at the middle order top scored with 46while the rest of the batsman failed to convert their starts. Navi Mumbai bowled really tight with their 3 bowlers Vishal Wagh, Amit Wadkar and Ramchandra Pol bagging two wickets each.
However, Navi Mumbai could not replicate their good perfomance which they did with the ball while chasing as they were given a serious tough fight by the Gaud Saraswat bowlers. Defending a low total of 130, the pressure was always on the Gaud Sawaswat team but they successfully managed to restrict Navi Mumbai team to just 113runs. At one point Navi Mumbai were looking comfortable towards a win with 5wkts in hand and already 96runs on the board but eventually left-arm spinner Rahul Mishra with 4/27 along with Vishwajit (2/28) and Yashraj (2/18) made them all out for 113 runs in an intense competition. All the bowlers did a fabulous job and especially Rahul who gave crucial breakthroughs at the right time. Gaud Saraswat won the semis by just 17runs in a neck to neck match where both the teams fought hard while major credit must be given to the Gaud Saraswat bowlers starting from Rahul Mishra for this win.

Late Manoramabai Apte Trophy
Played between two talented teams namely SVM international school and St.Joseph Convent High School, it was the all important finals after a lot of hardwork put by both the teams. With a strong batting line up, SVM international school, Dadar won the toss and elected to bat first with an aim of making a big 1st innings total and putting the opposition under pressure.

Their decision was completely spot on as both the openers of SVM- Aanchal Valanju & Vaibhavi Raje who are also part of the MCA’s Mumbai team stamped their class and authority all over. While right handed Aanchal Valanju completely decimitated the bowlers with her fearless batting, Vaibhavi’s played the supporting role to perfection. Aanchal looked so confident and aggressive that she reached her 100 in mere 46 deliveries while she stayed unbeaten on 113* off mere 52balls which included 21fours. Vaibhavi Raje on the other hand scored an unbeaten 59* off 41balls (7fours) playing the anchor’s role. On the back of these two players, SVM managed to reach a mammoth total of 208/0 in 15 overs where most of the bowlers went for a beating.

Defending such a big total, SVM already had the upper hand as the onus of chasing and the pressure was on St.joseph. St. Joseph maybe choked out in such a high pressure chase as they were bundled out for mere29runs in 10.5 overs. Quickster Akshi Gaurav’s 6/9 in 5.5 overs completely changed the game as she literally ran through the entire batting line up of St. Joseph with his tight bowling along with perfect line and length. SVM international were crowned the champions for the 2nd time as they won the match by 179runs.

Played between R.V Nerkar and National High School at Vasai II, National school won the toss and elected to bat first as the wicket looked good to make a big total in the 1st innings and put the opposition under pressure to chase.
Batting first, their openers fell early without troubling much but the dependable Arpit Dhavde who is slowly slowly becoming a reliable no.3 and no.4 batsman tried getting the momentum back into his team’s favor with an aggressive 58 off just 32balls(6fours). Arpit not only smashed some good shots but also did good running between the wicket. Apart from Aatish Patil chipped in with 26 taking the team total to 140/8 in 35 overs which is definitely not the best of the totals to defend. Tanish Meher with 7/51 in 15 overs was simply brilliant with the ball as he successfully managed to trouble the batsman while also bowled in the right areas taking wickets at regular intervals.

Defending a modest total of 140, things were definitely not looking in the favor of National School but off-spinner Sharik Baloch once again fired when it was needed from him the most. Sharik returned with match winning bowling figures of 5/77 in 16overs which eventually restricted R.V Nerkar School to a 138. All-rounder Shravan Akolekar also did a good job taking 3/11 with the ball. It was a thriller of a chase defended by National School where in they won the match by just 2runs. It was a where both the teams gave their best and fought hard while Tanish, Arpit and Sharik stood out in the match with their impressive performances.
