Mumbai: Shivaji Park Warriors maintained their impressive winning run of form and registered their third successive victory defeating Thane Marathas by a narrow 8 runs in their third league match of the five-team double leg Mumbai Cricket Club (MCC) and Jwala Sports Foundation (JSF) organized MitsuiShoji T20 Cricket League (Season 9), played at the Oval Maidan ground on Monday.

Choosing to bat first, Shivaji Park Warriors managed to put a decent total of 164 for 7 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Siddharth Akre top-scored with an unbeaten half century effort of 51 runs and Gaurish Jadhav made 45 runs, while Thane bowlers Veera Singamani 3 for 31 and Yash Dubey 2 for 21 were among the wickets. Warriors fought bravely and managed to defend the modest target by restricting Thane Marathas to 156 for 3 wickets from their stipulated 20 overs. Leading Marathas chase was Kaushal Valsangkar who contributed 52 runs, Pranav Kela 46 runs and Harshal Jadhav 30 runs, but they fell short and finished on a losing note.

In other matches, Ghatkopar Jets posted a 3-wicket win against Bandra Heroes. Batting first Bandra Heroes could only manage to score 134 runs for 8 wickets and Ghatkopar Jets comfortably chased down the runs making 135 runs for 7 wickets to clinch the win.

Earlier, Thane Marathas tasted success as they overcame Mumbai Police City Riders by a 32 runs. Marathas scored 123 for 8 wickets in 20 overs and then did well to dismiss Mumbai Police for 91 all out in 18.3 overs. Bhavya Attrey 3 for 11 and Tushar Kadam 2 for 27 got the wickets to restrict the Mumbai Police batters.

In a nail-biting encounter, X1-Gers defeated S&P Global by 4 wickets in the sixth league match of the Ultra Edge Season 3 Super 7 Cup Co-Powered by Cric Willworforu. The match was held on 16th April 2023, and it witnessed some exceptional performances from both sides.

Batting first, S&P Global put up a respectable total of 167/8 in their allotted 20 overs. However, X1-Gers chased down the target with 10 balls to spare, thanks to some brilliant batting from Praphul and Nitesh. Praphul was awarded the man of the match for his magnificent knock of 67 runs in just 45 balls, which included 9 fours and 2 sixes.

Mohit Kumar and Sandy Sehrawat were the pick of the bowlers for X1-Gers, with Mohit taking 3 wickets for 32 runs, and Sandy taking 3 wickets for just 23 runs in their respective 4 overs. After winning the toss, Eknath Shinde CC-2 elected to field first. Ambernath Rising CC got off to a decent start with Prasad Pawar and Parikshit Valsangkar scoring 51 and 37 runs respectively. However, the rest of the team struggled against Eknath Shinde CC-2’s bowlers, especially Atul Singh who took three wickets for just 14 runs. Ambernath Rising CC were bowled out for 128 runs.

In their chase, Eknath Shinde CC-2 started cautiously, losing a few early wickets. However, Chinmay Sutar and Dhrumil Matkar took charge of the innings, scoring 45* and 35 runs respectively. Their partnership helped Eknath Shinde CC-2 reach the target of 129 runs in the 19.2 overs.

Sent in to bat, Goregaon batters punished the Juhu bowlers with Yug leading the way with a 195-ball innings while Ram Shandilya cracked a 125-ball 105 runs And Arham Jain added 32 runs as Goregaon Centre declared their 1st innings after scoring a mammoth 377 runs for 3 wickets in 61.2 overs. Juhu Centre was reeling at 18 for the loss of 2 wickets from 6 overs at the end of first day’s play.
