The highly anticipated Mumbai Cricket Association’s Members Premier League Season 3 starting from the 13th of February in 2023 with 5 teams contesting have announced the team rosters after an intense auction. The tournament is exclusively for the members of the MCA Club at BKC who will participate in competitive games at the Somaiya Cricket Ground.
Held on the 13th of January 2023, numerous players went under the hammer with a few of them even going north of 3 lakh rupees! After an enigmatic battle off the field, the teams are all set to gear up and take it to the field. The 5 teams namely, Marshalls Royals, Hemant Tools Tornados, Prachi Diamond Strikers, Spottlight Social and Spartans are ready with their squad lists.

In the ongoing MD Memorial Cup 2023 U-14 Cricket Tournament, Powai CA had a dominating game against the Abhay CC. Batting first, Powai CA hammered 261 in just 32 overs. Although they were bowled out well prior to the allotted overs of 40. Opener Shubham Poojari scored a brisk 48 off 46 with 7 boundaries. Coming down the order, Daksh Bhandari contributed a quick fire 43 as well but it was Daksh Kulkarni’s game changing innings of 57 from 40 balls which helped Powai CA reach the ultimate total. His innings comprised of 8 boundaries and a six.
Despite conceding runs, Abhay CC managed to claim all 10 wickets. Sudhan Sundarraj bowled an exceptional spell of 8 overs, giving away 48 runs, claiming a 6-wicket haul for Abhay CC. He was well supported by Shoaib Ansari who picked up 3 wickets as well.
After a dominating batting display, Powai CA set out to finish the game in a hurry. Abhay CC had a good start as openers put up a 47-run partnership. After the breakthrough, Abhay CC lost the wickets in a heap and were bundled up for just 99. The Powai CA bowlers pulling off a stellar comeback with the ball. Arhaan Faruqi Mahmood’s 8-over spell dismantled the batters as he picked up 4 wickets, giving away just 22 runs with 3 maidens. The other bowlers managed to maintain the pressure on the Abhay CC batsmen and ultimately winning the game by 162 runs.
Arhan was named as the Man of the Match for his spirited spell.
The Bombay Knight Riders (BKR) played the Fervent XI in the JFSC Classic League 2022-23 which was a do or die game for them. After the winning the all-important toss, BKR elected to set a target, this proved to be a crucial move in the context of the game. BKR’s opener Ananth Venkatraman stepped up by scoring an invaluable 72 off just 43 deliveries. Despite wickets falling on the other end, Ananth continued to build partnerships with every batter. A 46 run 2nd wicket stand with Kunal Sabnis and 51 runs for the 3rd wicket stand with Rajiv Kalra saw the BKR reach 190 in 20 overs, losing 7 wickets. Ananth’s flying innings comprised for 9 boundaries and 4 sixes.
It was safe to assume the bowling charts of Fervent XI would be expensive, however Mahesh Krishnamoorthy was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 2 wickets in his 4-over spell conceding 28 runs in a high scoring innings.
With a mountain of a target to chase, Fervent XI came out to bat but soon found themselves in trouble as they lost wickets on regular intervals. With half of the team dismissed for just 67 by the 11th over, it was looking good for the BKR. By not letting any batsmen set and score, BKR dismissed Fervent for just 139 in the finals over of the game. Prateek Srivastava bowled a magical spell of 3/8 in 4 overs at an economy rate of just 2 per over. Arun and Sagar picked up 2 wickets. With all bowlers playing a crucial role, BKR won the game by 51 runs.
With this victory, the Bombay Knight Riders qualified for the finals. Ananth Venkatraman was adjudged as the Man of the Match for his blistering knock.
In the ongoing MD Memorial Cup 2023 U-14 Cricket Tournament, SK Sainath CA locked horns with Abhay Cricket Club in an enticing game of cricket. After winning the toss, Abhay Cricket Club elected to bowl first. SK Sainath CA hammered a competitive total of 222, losing 7 wickets in the process. Opener Aditya Yadav held one end by facing 86 and scoring crucial 54 runs for his team with 5 boundaries. Rudra Patil (36 off 58) and Sanchit Sawatkar (35 off 26) made crucial contributions in the middle stages to help push the team’s final total. From Abhay CC, captain Vedant Gore claimed 3 wickets at a stellar economy of just 2.62.; In his 8 overs, he conceded only 21 runs with a maiden to his name. Despite their best efforts, Sainath had the upper hand by the end of the first innings.
As the run chase began, Abhay CC lost wickets in a heap. Despite Sudhan’s effort at the top (30 off 29) the other end collapsed. Skipper Gore tries his level best by scoring 39 off just 36 but unfortunately they were bowled out for just 154 in the 33rd over. From Sainath, Arush Yadav’s spell of 3/21 in 7 overs was the bowling highlights as his team sealed the game with a margin of 68 runs. Sanchit Sawatkar claimed 2 wickets as well.
For his brilliant all-round performance, Sanchit was named as the Man of the Match.
Abbott Healthcare PVT LTD took on SS Travels in the Chanawala 40 Overs Trophy. Batting first, Abbott Healthcare were bowled out for just 150 runs by the 32nd over. Captain Praveen Singh, Ishan Mitbavkar and Sunil Lakka made a few contributions but not substantial as no batsman passed the 30-run mark. On the bowling charts. Mulayam Yadav set the tone for his team by picking up 4 wickets under 5 overs, conceding just 20 runs as well. Apart from him, Shubham Acharekar bowled an immaculate 7-over spell as he picked up 4 wickets with a maiden.
With the bowlers completing their assignment, SS Travels’ batsmen had an effortless outing. Guru and Saksham Lohate opened the innings and formed a 57-run partnership. Guru was dismissed for 31 but Saksham went on to stay unbeaten on 64. His anchoring innings of 97 balls comprised of 7 fours as well. Forming partnerships with Sachin and Ravi, the Lohate and SS Travels sealed the game with 8 wickets in hand by the 31st over.
In a fiercely fought contest, Viva Supermarket pipped RBI Sports Club by two wickets at Parsee Gymkhana Ground, Mumbai, on February 1.
Batting first, RBI were bundled out for 221 in 39.5 overs. Sumit Ghadigaonkar was the lone warrior in the fight as he top-scored with 96 off 88. His innings was laced with six boundaries and four sixes. On the other hand, Sachin Solanki was the pick of the bowlers for Viva Supermarket, as he snapped 29/4 in 7.5 overs.
In reply, Viva Supermarket overhauled the target in 39.1 overs and won the match by two wickets. Captain Akshay Mhapankar led the run chase from the front for Viva Supermarket with a valiant 89 off 108. He smashed three boundaries and four sixes in his match-winning innings. Makrand Patil also made a major contribution with the bat for Viva Supermarket with a 33-ball 51. For RBI, Hussain and Jyot Chhaya were the most successful bowlers, with two scalps apiece.
Chulna CC took on Sportsmen CC during the Late Dayanand Mhapankar Smruti Chashak 2023 on February 5 at Vasai. Chulna CC won the toss and elected to bat.
Batting first, Chulna CC were bowled out for 209 in 39.3 overs. Shivam Rai starred with the bat for Chulna CC scoring a stellar 139. On the other hand, Tejas Mankar was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball for Sportsmen CC with 41/5 in nine overs.
In reply, Sportsmen CC were bundled out for 166 in 37 overs and lost the match by 43 runs. Kunal Sawarkar top-scored with 35 and received good support from Pawan Cheulkar (24) and Yoganand Ghatge (33). On the other hand, for Chulna CC, Inas Dabre was the pick of the bowlers, with 34/3 in seven overs.
JSW’s Amit Mishra wreaked havoc with the ball as he claimed a fifer against Sun Pharma during their Times Shield clash. It was the first five-wicket haul in this edition of the Times Shield. He also accounted for a hat-trick.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, JSW posted 180 in 33.5 overs. Ishaque top-scored with 39 for JSW. On the other hand, Roshan and Aashish were the most successful bowlers for Sun Pharma as they snapped four wickets apiece.
In reply, Sun Pharma made heavy work of the run chase as they were skittled for a paltry 66 in 29.1 overs. Shrinivas (14) and Sagar (14) fought hard but failed to see their side home. For JSW, Amit Mishra was the star performer with the ball with a fifer, including a hat-trick. Ishaque contributed with the ball, too, with his four-fer.

Maskati CC took on Gay Cavaliers CC in the ongoing Bombay Junior Shield 2022-23. After winning the toss, Maskati elected to bat first at LIC, Cross Maidan. Gay Cavaliers pressured the Maskati batters in the initial stages of the game as 4 wickets were taken by the 12th over itself for just under 100 runs. It was Kesar Upadhyay’s rescue mission which helped his team reach to a fighting total. Upadhyay faced 89 balls and hammered invaluable 95 with 11 boundaries. He also formed a crucial partnership with Akshay Bhowad with 43 off just 35 balls. Ultimately, Maskati reached a decent total of 265 as they were bowled out in the 37th over itself. Roshan Gupta was the pick of the bowlers who picked up 3 wickets in just an over.
Despite the early struggles, Maskati reached a fighting total. Chasing 266, Gay Cavaliers had a horrid start themselves, losing 4 wickets for 48 in the 16th over itself. Bhavishya Gaikwad contributed 42 for his team but due to a lack of support from the other end, Gay Cavaliers were wrapped up for just 108 runs. Niraj Shah’s exceptional spell of 4/19 in 8.5 overs saw the Maskati seal the game. He was well supported by Mustafa Shaikh as he claimed 3 wickets.
As the game came to a close, Kesar Upadhyay was announced as the Man of the Match.
