It was a big moment for the Mumbai Cricket as the official Under 16 team of Australia visited India and took on the promising SVIS Borivali U/16 team lead by Mumbai skipper Ayush Jethwa. Spartan Australia WON the toss and chose to field first expecting that they may bundle out the boys for a low total.
However, Arjun Lotlikar, 9 year old boy opened the innings with Meet Mayekar and both the boys looked supremely confident. Arjun played Under 16 bowlers with great composure and authority. With his sound technique he stayed at the crease for close to 17 overs and had a good opening stand of 98 runs before being stumped out to pacer Clay WALLER. The Australian contingent of parents gave generous round of applause to Arjun after his dismissals. Arjun is walking his baby steps under the watchful eyes of his coach Mr. Dinesh Lad sir at Swami Vivekanand International School, Borivali.

On the other hand, Meet Mayekar made finely crafted 98 off 94 balls with 17 fours and 1 hit over the fence. Captain Ayush Jethwa coming in at number 3 made another fine hundred with his typical class and grace. He completed his hundred in the penultimate over on the innings in just 84 balls with 21 boundaries. With his silken and deft touch, he played a skipper’s knock in no time. Ayush Vartak in his captains company made quickfire run a ball 29.

Chasing a mammoth 294 in 40 overs is always difficult & Australia were off to a fine start as their opener Jasper Hogarth-Scott made 45 off 69 balls with 9 hits to the fence. Barring him, no Australian boy could manage to survive the spin attack of Swami Vivekanand School bowlers. Captain Ayush Jethwa who recently won the Best all-rounder award for Natraj Pens showed his all round abilities again with the ball. He took 4 wickets for 13 with his wily off-spin to wrap the Australian innings for 116. Left arm spinner, Om Sawant was also impressive as he took 3 for 13 and off-spinner Mihir Gawade took 2 for 22. Swami Vivekanand School defeated Australian boys with a huge margin of 177 runs while Ayush Jethwa with his fine hundred and 4 wickets was clearly the ‘Player of the Match’.

The sharply single taken helps a batting pair to rotate the strike. A single keeps the scoreboard ticking over when the bowling is tight. All running between the wkts should be done with aggression as to squeeze as many runs as possible out of a well placed shot. This places pressure on the opposition, often leading to a miss-field or an errant throw. The Non striker should hold his bat in the hand close to the bowler. There are only 3 calls.. yes, no and wait which should b made loudly. The Bat should be carried in the both the hands for Balance and to gain maximum speed while running. The hand holding the handle of the bat should be switched, as appropriate before turning to have a best view of the ball.
In this video you would see Both the batsman’s name are Siddhant Singh and Vinit Mestry practicing at Swing Sports Motivation academy with coach Sumeet Khanna.

From the bowlers Bhavin bhansali(3/16) and Mithil Raut(2/37) were the pick of the bowlers as they bowled really tight which gave those crucial breakthroughs.
Chasing a 200+ score in Kanga matches is difficult at times but not when you have an opener who is in a different zone altogether. Ashish Shirgaonkar who opened the innings started attacking right from the beginning of the innings as he changed the momentum into his team’s favor. The attacking opener went on to score an unbeaten 122* coming off just 83balls which were laced with 15fours and 4sixes to dismantle the Daiwandya bowlers.
