Played at the New Era CC, Azad Maidan, Goregaon U/14 and Azad U/14 took on each other where in Goregaon U/14 team batted first on a track which had equal assistance for the batsmen as well as the bowlers.

Goregaon team did suffer some early jolts with their top 3 batsmen falling cheaply but it was their promising no.4 batsman Roneet Thakur who has been in amazing touch this season resurrected the goregaon innings and brought his team back into the game. Roneet who has already showed that he can be a very potent batsman in the shortest format can also be a solid mainstay in the longer formats as he scored a composed 105 off 128balls(14fours). On the other hand, he also received solid support from another promising name Manan Bhatt as he scored a brilliant 85 off 134balls (9fours) while also stitched a 166run stand for 5th wicket with Roneet taking the team total to 254 in 74.2 overs from 42/4 at one stage.

Azad U/14 on the other hand were skittled out for 137runs all-out as all-rounder Ronit also delivered with the ball taking a superb 6wkt haul coming up with bowling figures of 6/50 in 15.3 overs. Azad U/14 received a follow on and again they suffered a collapse with 82/8 in 29 overs in the 2nd innings before the match ended.

Goregaon U/14 won the match outright on 1st innings and it was certainly Roneet Thakkur stealing the show along with the talented Manan Bhatt.

Played at the Karnatak, Cross Maidan, Abbott and Sanofi took on each other where in Abbott boys won the toss and elected to field first as the Cross Maidan pitches have many a times surprised the bowlers with some great assistance.

Sanofi batting first were not able to make much of an impact as they made a modest 130/8 in 20overs with most of their batsman chipping in with 10’s and 20’s but not able to convert their starts. From the bowlers Nikhil Palande was really impressive with the ball being the pick of the bowlers with 3/24 in 4overs while Sandesh Bhoir was also effective with the ball taking 2wkts.

Chasing 131, Abbott finished off the chase in just 18.2 overs as Ishan Mithbavkar scored a match winning 45 off 35balls at no.3 which had 7fours in it. The rest of the batsman batted around him as he played an anchoring knock which eventually helped Abbott win the match by 5wkts and 10balls to spare.

It was a nice match with some good performances while Ishan was declared ‘man of the match’ for his crucial 45.

Played at the Parsee Cyclists Ground, it was the all important finale of the tournament between Bhavishya Nidhi Staff CC and Subsea Pro Pvt Ltd where in Nidhi Staff CC won the toss and elected to bat first as the wicket had some support for the batsman too.

Bhavishya Nidhi Staff CC were off to a quick start as their openers chipped in with 20’s but it was their no.3 batsman Amit Tawde who changed the game with a blitzkrieg 83* off just 46balls smashing 7fours and 4sixes to light up the ground while he also got decent support from Dushant Kadam who played a supporting role scoring 36* off 31balls helping their team reach a competitive total of 183/2 in 20overs.

Winning Team

Chasing 184, Subsea Pro Pvt.Ltd batting were given a tough fight as they were restricted to 150/7 in 20 overs even though they did suffer a top order collapse. Akshay Kamble who came at no.5 played a crucial knock of 71runs in just 46deliveries which raised some hopes for his team from getting out for a low total. Akshay smashed 4fours and 3sixes at a time when the rest of the batsman struggled to make much of an impact. From the Bhavishya Nidhi CC bowlers, Ulhas with 3/18 in 4overs with a maiden bowled a terrific spell while the rest of the bowlers also bowled well.

Runners-Up Team

Bhavishya Nidhi Staff CC won the finals by 33runs and it was a great team perfomance throughout the tournament while Amit Tawde was declared ‘man of the finals’ for his blazing 83*.

Played between KRP XI and New Era CC, it was the crucial finale of the prestigious Ghosh Trophy where in KRP XI won the toss and elected to bat first on a wicket which had assistance for the batsman too.

KRP XI however struggled to make a big 1st innings score as they were all out for 181runs in 76.3 overs. Left-handed opener Shubham Girkar top scored with 61runs off 136balls (8fours) while prolific Ayush at no.3 scored 37 as the rest of the batsmen struggled to make much of an impact. Off-spinner Saad Shaikh bowled one of the most important spell of the tournament as he came up with match winning bowling figures of 7/64 in 28.3overs with 10 maidens. Saad was certainly impressive bowling in the right areas and troubling the batsmen to the core.

On the other hand, New Era CC notched up a good total of 275/8 dec in 90 overs. Opening the innings, Abhinav Singh scored a fantastic knock of 109runs off 225balls smashing 15fours and changing the game in his team’s favor. Even though they did lost a few wickets in between, Shreyas Mandlik scored a brilliant and a match saving 84 off 187balls (13fours) while also stitching a match winning 5th wkt partnership with Abhinav Singh of 165 runs off 334balls in 171mins. KRP XI on the other hand batted for 17overs in the 2nd innings with Ayush Jethwa scoring 60*before the match ended with KRP XI at 96/3.

New Era CC won the match on 1st innings and it was a great team perfomance while Saad, Abhinav and Shreyas stood out with their brilliant contributions.

The player of the tournament, Best Batsman and Best Bowler  Prizes in the form of Cricket Kit bags were sponsored in the memory of Late Shri Chandrakant Karmalkar by his son Mr. Chandrashekhar  Karmalkar (cricket coach).

After a fantastic day 1 between DY Patil and DY Patil B where in Subramaniam D and Sarvesh Damle at the middle order resurrected the innings and brought their team back into the game with solid batting. It was now time for the bowlers to delivers and they did deliver with DY Patil ‘A’ 7 down on day 1 itself with all the big and in form names back into the pavilion.

The Day 2 resumed with Iqbal Abdullah and Swapnil Singh at the crease while Iqbal has been a genuine all-rounder but saving his team from a target of almost 200+ runs was difficult on the cards. What’s more the DY Patil ‘B’ bowlers were bowling really tight with all-rounder Arun Yadav already bagging 4wkts in the day 1 along with Pravin Tambe who took 2wkts.

Arun just continued bowling well in the final session too as he eventually came up with a match winning bowling spell of 6/47 in 15.2 overs along with PT’s 2wkts and Shashank’s one wicket. Arun has developed a lot of confidence as a proper full time bowler and delivering in such a crucial stage just shows the strong gamestrength and mindset of a sportsperson as DY Patil ‘A’ were restricted to 214runs in 53.2overs.

DY Patil A won the match on 1st innings and with this they lift the prestigious Times Shield Division ‘A’ trophy. The entire team including of senior players to youngsters to all-rounders like Arun and Shashank have delivered together consistently and now is certainly the party time for the boys!

Played at the Vengsarkar Academy, Mahul, it was the all important semi finals of the Gannon Dunkerley T20 Tournament which has been quite a success with some amazing matches and individual performances. Two of the most promising teams-Osians who have been really consistent in their teamwork and CCI which is a very balanced side took on each other where in CCI won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Osian CC batting first were off to a good start on the back of their in-form Vishal Shah who scored a quickfire 35 but the rest of the batsmen just gave starts but were not able to convert it into impactful scores which can take the team total to 180-200. From the bowlers, Minesh Shah from CCI bowled one of the economical spells you can come across in a T20 as his bowling figures read 3/16 in 4overs which are anyday impressive in a T20 Game. Minesh bowled in the right areas and what’s more his 3wkts consisted of a hat-trick which changed the game in a span of 6balls. The rest of the bowlers also did a fairly decent job.

Chasing 147, CCI chased down successfully and won the semi-finals by 4wkts as Behzad Devadwala top scored with a solid 44 off 38balls at no.3. The rest of the batsman chipped in with 20’s which did the job for CCI.

CCI qualify for the finals and Minesh Shah was declared ‘man of the match’ for his economical bowling spell which also included a hat trick.

Saurav Nautiyal has been scoring runs consistently throughout the season and he has scored a lot of impressive tons in the past one year which makes him one of the promising players from Delhi to lookout for.

In the recently played match Saurav again showed his immense abilities with the bat between Delhi Cricket Academy and T.C Club where in T.C won the toss and elected to bat first at the Ghevra Cricket Ground. T.C Club batting first did a really good job notching up 191/7 in 20 overs on the back of their openers Ajay and Rakesh giving a flying start with quick 40’s. From the bowlers, All-rounder Saurav Nautiyal came up with a fantastic bowling spell of 5/16 in 4 overs making him pick of the bowlers. Saurav was so impressive with the ball that hardly any batsman could trouble him at a time when other bowlers were going for a thrashing.

The Saurav show was not over yet as he opened the innings to score a blazing hundred smashing an electrifying 112* off mere 45balls hitting 10fours and 8big sixes to light up the Ghevra ground and single handedly taking the care of the chase. Saurav literally dominated every bowler as DCA chased down the score successfully winning the match by 7wkts and 3overs to spare while Saurav being declared ‘man of the match’ for his blazing all-round perfomance.

Kanga Knockout and Summer Shield are at the finishing stages of the tournament and so far the tournaments have managed to be quite a success with many talents emerging out while also some really close matches under challenging conditions. Here are some of the latest updates from the two matches which were played last weekend:

Young Men CC vs Sporting Union Club, Kanga Knockout Quarter-finals

Toss Won By- Sporting Union CC (Bat First)

Ground- LIC, Cross Maidan

Batting first Sporting Union CC were all out for 210runs in 42 overs with middle order bats Rohit Rajbhor (36), Hitesh Satardekar (32) and Vishal Gupta (28) chipping in with starts. From the bowlers, Shoeb Sayyed was the most impressive with the ball taking 3/29 in 9overs while Siddhesh Jadhav also taking 3/39. Both the bowlers looked really impressive bowling in the right areas. Chasing 211, Young Men CC were stuggling at 144/7 but it was all-rounder Shoeb Sayyed at no.9 who scored a match winning 42* off 38balls (5fours, 1 six) to steer Young Men CC win by 1wkt in a thriller of a chase.

KRP XI vs Taki Team Sports Club, Summer Shield Quarter Finals

Toss Won by- KRP XI (Bat first)

Ground- Western Railways, Cross Maidan

After choosing to bat first, KRP XI were struggling at one point on 52/5 but it was Harshal with a handy 37 at no.7 and Sandeep Naik at no.9 who scored a match winning 58* off 78balls(5fours, 1six) rescuing KRP XI from nowhere and helping their team reach a respectable 189/9 in 45overs. Sandeep’s half century was literally match saving as KRP XI defended their total successfully by restricting Taki Team SC to just 120all out in 35.4 overs on the back of terrific bowling by Vishal Kavaiya (4/11) and Musheer Khan(3/23). Sandeep Naik made it an all round show just like his brother Rakesh bagging two wickets too as KRP XI won the match by 69runs.

When you talk about Subramaniam- he falls into the league of classy players like Dravid, Rahane and Laxman which has become a rarity nowadays. He is safe like a tank and has always delivered consistently for DY Patil making him one of the ‘must have’ players in the side.

It was the finals today between DY Patil A vs DY Patil B at the DY Patil Ground in Nerul where in DY Patil ‘A’ won the toss and elected to bowl first. With some shuffles in the batting line up, the rock solid Subramaniam was shifted at the middle order while Kevin was again given the duty to open the innings with Shashank on the insistence of their senior statesmen Pravin Tambe. Opening the innings, DY Patil ‘B’ did suffered some early jolts with both the openers out early but Sarvesh Damle and Subramaniam Doraswamy rescued their team by scoring magnificently.

Subbu as he is fondly called spoke with Cricketgraph when asked why was he shifted down the order- “He said Pravin for the team wanted me to come down lending stability” and it did work as Subramaniam scored a match saving 103* at no.7 facing 158 deliveries and smashing 9fours and a six in it. Subramaniam almost batted like Laxman at the middle order while Sarvesh who has been in good nick fell just 3runs short of a classy ton scoring 97 off 142balls(12fours, 1six) propelling the team total to a very healthy 404/10 in 113.3 overs.  From the bowlers Pradeep Dadhe bowled an impressive spell of 4/41 in 14 overs managing to trouble the DY Patil batsman with his tight line and length. The bowlers did look dangerous at one point but Sarvesh and Subramaniam saved the ship. What’s more Pravin Tambe also gave a brilliant support by scoring 48 and stitching a 97run stand for the 9th wicket which also played a pivotal role.

DY Patil A on the other hand are looking troubled with 7 down for 191runs with Naushad Shaikh scoring a fighting 68 while Iqbal Abdullah and  Swapnil Singh at the crease. All-rounder Arun Yadav has again been impressive with 4wkts while Pravin Tambe bagging 2wkts so far.

DY Patil A needs to fight back hard as DY Patil B looks promising enough to lift the title tomorrow!

It was the all important quarterfinals between two really promising teams namely Vasant Vihar School Thane and Santosh Sports Cricket Academy, Kalyan where in Vasant Vihar won the toss and elected to bat first with an aim of making a big total.

Batting first, Vasant Vihar School notched up a moderate total of 128runs in 20overs with Omkar L being the highest scorer with 48runs. Omkar looked really solid while the rest of the batsman batted around him. From the bowlers, Aarush Patankar, Pranay Belajar and Aaditya Bansode taking 2wkts each.

Chasing 129, the Aaditya Godhade(48) and Atharva More (39) steered the chase with their solid batting. Both the boys looked really good while they also smashed some impressive shots in the chase. In the end, star all-rounder Aarush Patankar(11*) and Kishor Shaikh(6*) scored the winning runs as Santosh Sports Academy qualify for the semi finals of the Kalyan Premier League while Aaditya Godhade and Atharva More were declared ‘man of the match’
