Played at the Dadkar Maidan between U/16 Mahul and U/16 Kalwa, U16 Kalwa won the toss and elected to bowl first with an aim of extracting the best out of the wicket and restrict the Mahul boys to a low total.

Harsh Salunkhe

U/16 Mahul team surprisingly declared their innings at 178/6 in 65.3 overs which shows the confidence the entire team had while playing. Even though most of the players failed to convert their starts, it was the rising name and talented Harsh Salunkhe once again playing a solid knock of 56 off 105balls(7fours). Harsh opened the innings and dodged the bowlers confidently despite wickets being lost from the other end.

Defending 179, Mahul boys successfully bundled out U/16 Kalwa team to just 62runs all out in 41overs. One of the most & young promising left-arm spinners-Atharva Bhosale once again impressed one and all with a match winning spell of 5/6 in 12overs with 10 maidens. Such bowling figures are really remarkable and shows the amount of talent this young kid has.  U/16 Kalwa team were again restricted to 82runs all out in their 2nd innings after receiving a follow on with this time Nisar Shaikh bagging 4wkts.

It was an outright win by an innings and 34runs for U/16 Mahul Boys who dominated right from the start while Harsh and Atharva turned out to be the shining stars in the match.

Two of the promising teams namely Sachin Tendulkar XI and Dilip Vengsarkar XI took on each other with Sachin’s XI winning the toss and electing to bat first with an aim of making a big total.

However, their decision to bat first was not at all accurate with them being skittled out for mere102runs all out in 65.3 overs. The team suffered a batting collapse with Umar Khan taking 3/38 being the pick of the bowlers.

On the other hand, Dilip Vengsarkar XI made a decisive total of 245/4 decl in 74 overs Raj leading from the front. Raj desmukh once again scored a well crafted 123 where in he gave proper treatment to the loose deliveries while dodged the good ones. Apart from Raj, skipper Roneet Thakur who has been in excellent form this season and has been piling on runs continued his good run with an elegant 52. Sachin Tendulkar XI were 79/7 in their 2nd innings before the match ended and Vengsarkar boys won the match on 1st innings.

Played at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy-BKC, it was a very crucial clash between Ajinkya Rahane XI and Dilip Vengsarkar XI Ajinkya Rahane XI skipper won the toss and elected to field first on the back of their good bowling line up. It was a really important match for Ajinkya Rahane XI and a must win to remain alive for the semis birth.

Their decision to bowl first was accurate as Dilip Vengsarkar XI were all out for 146runs in 55.4overs. Umesh gujar top scored with 51 as the rest of the batting line up collapsed. From the bowlers, Khizar and Shams Mulani bowled really well bagging 3wkts each.

On the other hand, Ajinkya Rahane XI showed their power with the bat scoring a mammoth 415/4dec in 89 overs. Talented openers Prathamesh Pawar and Jay Davane stitched a sublime partnership of 173 runs with Prathamesh Pawar scoring 96 contiuing his form from the last match where he scored 71 runs while last match’s centurion Jay davane scored 75 and later one down batsman Pranav Kela scored a century as others chipped in with 30 40 runs which helped Ajinkya’s boys to cross the 400run mark.

Dilip Vengsarkar XI were again bundled out for 176runs as medium pacer Rushikesh Jadhav ran through their batting line up bagging 5/28. Rushikesh bowled in the right areas with tight line and length which eventually helped Ajinkya Rahane win the match by an innings and 93runs.

Played at the Matunga Gymkhana, Dadkar Maidan, U/16 Azad Maidan Team and U/16 Worli team took on each other with Worli Skipper Ayush winning the toss and electing to bat first on the back of his team’s good bowling line up.

Arman Pathan

Their decision to bowl first was spot on as Azad Maidan team were all out for 162runs in 57.4 overs. The whole team suffered a batting collapse but it was once again their batting mainstay Arman Pathan fighting it out alone scoring 78* off 149balls. Arman dodged the bowlers confidently despite lacking support from the other end smashing 11fours and 2sixes. From the bowlers, it was their skipper Ayush Zimare leading from the front taking 5/38 in 18.4overs with as many as 10 maidens. Ayush has been really consistent and effective with the ball and is improving leaps & bounds daily while Prince Badani also bagging 3wkts.

On the other hand, Worli team were struggling at one point with 3down for 23runs but it was again their left-handed Ayush who came at no.4 top scoring with a brilliant 84 off 131balls(9fours,2sixes). Ayush’s knock was quite sublime as he solidified the innings for his team while also got good support from Sai Chavan(38) and Om Bhimjiyani(60) providing crucial contributions at the middle order. U/16 Azad Maidan batted for 5overs before the match ended as U/16 Worli team won the match on 1st innings with skipper Ayush playing a perfect skipper’s role.

The much awaited Cricketgraph rankings are out for April and if you are making it into the top 5, you have definitely stood out from a minimum of 200 exceptional performances in that particular month as the competition is intense in Mumbai during this time when it comes to cricket.

 

5. Nishant Kadam (RHB & Off-spinner)- 37 and 4/30, Kanga Knockout Tournament ‘18

Played at the National CC, Cross Maidan, Brothers CC and Mulund C.H CC took on each other with Brothers CC winning the toss and electing to bat first on a track which had assistance for both the batsman as well as the bowlers.

Brothers CC, batting first were all out for 156 runs. From the bowlers, off-spinner Nishant Kadam was the pick of the bowlers taking 4/30 in 8 overs. Chasing 157, Nishant also chipped in with a solid 37 opening the innings. It was a big win for Mulund CC while Nishant Kadam stood out in the match with his excellent all-round perfomance.

4. Omkar Maldikar (RHB)- 46 and 4/21 in 4overs, T20 Chanawala Tournament ‘18

Played at the Navroz, Azad Maidan, two of the most powerful corporate cricket teams namely Omni Global and Tech Mahindra took on each other where in Tech Mahindra won the toss and elected to bat first. Tech Mahindra batting first were bundled out for 92runs all out in 19.2 overs suffering a batting collapse. The bowler who stood out and was the pick of the bowler too was Omkar Maldikar coming up with match winning bowling figures of 4/21 in 4 overs. Omkar was not only economical but also kept on giving breakthroughs consistently.

Chasing mere 93, it was just a formality for Omni Global team as they won the match by 7wkts and chased down the score in just 12.5 overs. Opener Vishal gave a quick start with his 26ball 39 but it was Omkar who finished of the chase anchoring it with a 46* off 39balls which included 6fours in it.

Omni Global won in commanding fashion and it was surely on the back of their all-rounder Omkar Maldikar.

3. Shashank Singh (RHB)-54 & 3wkts, Young Comrade Tournament ’18 semi finals

Played at the DY Patil Groud in Nerul, DY Patil team took on MIG CC for the all important semi finals of the Young Comrade Tournament. Both the teams have performed exceptionally well so far and an intense competition was bound to happen to seal the finals spot. MIG CC batting first did a commendable job notching up 300/10 in 69.2 overs with all-rounders Arun Yadav and Shashank Singh bagging 3wkts each being really impressive with the ball bowling in the right areas.

Even though a total of 300 is decent enough to defend but not if it’s against the powerful and famed batting line up of DY Patil who have scored in excess of 350-400runs in almost every game in this tournament. As always, the reliable and experienced pair of openers Shoaib Shaikh and Subramaniam D gave a solid 95run opening stand while two of the most prolific run getters in Mumbai cricket Shashank Singh(64*) and Shubham Ranjane(54) smashed match winning half centuries. Both the boys as always looked in sublime touch taking away the pressure and eventually helping DY Patil win the semi finals.

It was as always an impressive win for DY Patil with Shashank’s all-round show and overall good batting by the DY Patil boys.

2. Manish Nagdev- 5/32 & 62, Friendship Trophy 2018, semi-finals

Played at the Asahi ground, SHM Ulahsnagar won the toss and elected to bat first on the back of their strong batting line up. Manish Nagdev who opened the innings scored a match winning 63 off mere 33balls smashing 14fours setting the tone for the SHM Ulhasnagar innings. Deepak at no.3 also gave a crucial hand smashing a quick 42 pushing the team total to 177/9 in 20 overs. Defending a total of 178, all-rounder Manish Nagdev delivered with the ball too taking a stunning fifer (5/32 in 4overs) restricting Siemens to just 100/all out in 15overs. SHM Ulhasnagar won the match by 77runs and Manish Nagdev completely owned the match with his brilliant all-round perfomance.

1. Prithvi Khakar (RHB)-5/26 & 67, Times Shield

There are players who score runs, there are players who take wickets and then there are legends who single handedly dominate the match with one man show and Prithvi Khakar gave a glimpse to the world about his cricketing abilities not only top scoring with the bat but also being the pick of the bowler in the same match.

Played between HT Media and Mumbai Fire Brigade at Sundar CC, Cross Maidan, it was HT Media who won the toss and elected to bat first on the back of their strong batting line up. However, Mumbai Fire Brigade bowlers did a commendable job restricting the promising batting line up of HT Media to a very low total of 158 all out in 38overs. Right-handed opener Prithvi Khakhar top scored with 61runs off 93balls smashing 5fours and a six and playing an anchor’s role surviving at one end while the wickets were falling from the other end. Prithvi stabilized the innings with Vaibhav with a crucial partnership and got out as the third last batsman.

Defending a low meagre total of 158, all-rounder and right arm fast bowler Prithvi Khakhar ripped apart through Mumbai Fire Brigade’s top order taking 5/26 in 9overs. Prithvi bowled really tight with perfect accuracy as he got 2 catches in the slip cordon in the 5 wickets that he took while one was clean bowled. Mumbai Fire Brigade were all-out for 68runs in 19.4overs as HT Media clinched a thumping win by 90runs on the back of great all-round show by Prithvi Khakhar

 

 

 

Played at the MB Union CC, Cross Maidan, U/19 MIG and U/19 Ghatkoper Jolly teams took on each other where in Ghatkoper Jolly skipper Pragnesh winning the toss and electing to field first on a track which has always assisted the bowlers.

U19 MIG team batting first were all out for 216runs in 51.1 overs with their left-handed batsman Sanket Kashte top scoring with 58runs. Opener Shoeb also looked good for his 42 but none of the batsman apart from these two managed to make much of an impact. The bowlers did an excellent job with off-spinner Sharvay Keskar being the pick of the bowlers taking 4/63 in 12overs while Sahil Sawant and Rugved Kulkarni taking 3 and 2wkts each.

U/19 Ghatkoper Jolly team in return could have been all out for a low total had their skipper Pragnesh Kanpillewar did not deliver with the bat. Pragnesh led from the front scoring an aggressive 116 off 139balls laced with 14fours and 6sixes. Pragnesh kept calm while did not spare the loose deliveries with some really attacking shots which took the team to 242/9 before they declared in 65 overs. MIG in their 2nd innings were again all out for 210runs with off-spinner Sharvay once again impressing one and all with the ball taking 5/82 in 15.1overs taking his tally of wickets to 9/145 in the match.

U/19 Ghatkoper Jolly team won the match on 1st innings with Sharvay foxing the batsman with his wily spin while skipper Pragnesh leading from the front with a fantastic ton.

Played at the LIC Cross Maidan, two promising teams namely Matunga Gymkhana and Sonale Bhiwandi took on each other with Matunga Gymkhana winning the toss and electing to bat first on a wicket which has proved to be more assistive towards the bowlers.

However, they did a great job by batting first as they notched up 310/7dec in 56overs which is a very good score on a bowler friendly track. Even though it was a shaky start but middle order batsman Shadab Khan scored a match saving 102 off 112balls with 12fours and 3sixes. Shadab played at a healthy strike rate and kept the scoreboard ticking while also received great support from lower middle order batsman Veera Sigamani who scored an attacking 66 off mere 54balls with 6fours and 4sixes while also stitching a 120run stand with Shadab.

Chinaman Jash Dedhia who took 5wkts

In reply, U/19 Sonale Bhiwandi were all out for 81runs in 1st innings as Chinaman Jash Dedhia bowled a match winning spell of 5/28 in 10overs. Jash was really impressive with the ball as he troubled the batsmen while all-rounder Veera who batted well also chipped in with 3wkts. Receiving a follow on, Sonale Bhiwandi did bat well but were all out for 202runs with Viraj Jadhav taking 4wkts while Veera and Rahul Pawar bagging 2wkts each.

Matunga Gymkhana won the match outright by an innings and 23runs as the whole team played together really well with Shadab, Jash, Veera and Viraj leading from the front as the bright performers.

Played at the Ours Cricket Club the promising Virar+ Palghar side took on the powerful U/16 Bandra team where in Virar/Palghar’s skipper Mayank Teotia won the toss and elected to bat first on a track which looked good to bat first.

Princely Perreira who scored 79

Their decision was spot on as they batted really well with almost every player giving handy contributions.  Skipper Mayank Teotia scored a well crafted 60 while promising all rounder Princely Perreira top scored with a rock solid 79 off 161balls laced with 11 boundaries. Omkar Malekar at no.6 also batted really well as he scored a timely 71 off 115balls (9fours and a six) which pushed the team total to a very healthy 354/7 in 101 overs. From the bowlers, left arm spinner Shubham Kharat was the pick of the bowlers taking 6/69 in 31overs with 10 maidens.

Bandra on the other hand were all out for mere 81runs in the 1st innings with promising left arm spinner Aman Tiwary coming up with a great bowling spell of 5/19 in 10.2 overs. The rest of the bowlers also did a really good job bowling around him. Receiving a follow on, Bandra were 138/8 in their 2nd innings with Aman again bagging 4wkts taking his tally of bowling figures to 9/70 in the match as U/16 Virar+Palghar won the match in a dominating fashion on 1st innings.

It was a great team perfomance by the Virar+ Palghar boys as they defeated a very powerful Bandra team.

Played between Chaudhari School Dombivali+ OFA Ambernath vs Young Zorastrian (Azad), two promising teams took on each other where in Dombivali boys won the toss and elected to bat first.

 

Aditya Rawat who took 5wkts and scored a half century

Batting first, Dombivali were all out for 176 runs with Aditya Rawat and Bhushan top scoring with 51 and 42 respectively. Both the boys looked good but the rest of the players struggled to make much of an impact. Left arm spinner Tejas Rajput bagged 4wkts for just 29runs while Eshan Kale also took 3wkts which did the maximum damage. Tejas looked impressive with good line and length. On the other hand, Young Zorastrian were all out for 116runs as all-rounder Aditya Rawat came up with great bowling figures of 5/21 making it a superb all-round perfomance.

Chaudhari School Dombivali were 89/8 dec in 2nd innings with Aditya Rawat top scoring again with 37 while Tejas Rajput bagging another 2wkts taking his tally to 6/40 in the match. Young Zorastrian were 129/5 in 30 overs with Riday Khandke on 43* before the match ended and Chaudhari School Dombivali+ OFA Ambernath won the match on 1st innings.

It was a perfomance filled match with Aditya Rawat and Tejas leaving behind  a mark with their individual performances.

A child prodigy is all set to make it big in women’s cricket, as she already finds herself in the MCA U-16 squad, at the tender age of 10. Sharvari Satish More, a resident of Sion practises at Don Bosco Cricket Academy in Matunga under the watchful eyes of Rohan Nagvekar and Ganesh Jawale.

Just six months back Sharvari joined this academy and has already shown her mettle with both, bat and ball. A right arm medium pace bowler and a right-hand batter, Sharvari has grabbed many eyeballs. Coming from a modest background, Sharvari did not receive any support from her father with respect to her cricket. Unfortuunately just two months back, Satish More passed away, and could not see his daughter climbing up the ranks in Mumbai cricket.

 

Sharvari has both, age and game by her side. Cricketgraph wishes her all the very best for a bright future.
