Played at the Karnatak Sporting Association, Cross Maidan, U/19 Dilip Vengsarkar Team and U19 Matunga Gymkhana took on each other where in Vengsarkar Mahul team won the toss and elected to bat first on a wicket which had assistance for both the bowlers as well as the batsman.

Vengsarkar Team who have a solid line up scored a very healthy total of 252 for the loss of just 3wkts in 45 overs. Left-handed opener Pushkar Sharma gave a solid start smashing a sublime 61 off 70balls while he also stitched an 110run stand with Akshat Jain who came at no.3. Right handed Akshat who came at no.3 scored a match-defying 101* off 123balls anchoring the knock till the end. Akshat toiled hard between the wickets taking ones and two’s while he also hit 8fours and a six. Hitesh Chauhan (48) and Dev Aditya (32*) also gave crucial contributions.
Chasing 253, U19 Matunga Gymkhana were all out for 215runs on the back of collectively good bowling by Vengsarkar bowlers. Swapnil Sawant opening the innings fought single handedly scoring an elegant 96 off 123balls as the rest of batsman from the other hand failed to give him support. From the bowlers, spinners, Rajesh Sardar (3/44) and Vaibhav Kamble (3/52) were the pick of the bowlers as U19 Dilip Vengsarkar Mahul team won the semis by 37runs with Akshat’s ton being the standout perfomance in the match.

Played at the Parsee Cyclists, it was a 40overs one day match between Piramal Healhcare and TIFR Sports Club where in Piramal Healthcare won the toss and elected to bat first.

Batting first, Piramal Healthcare were all out for 207runs in 36overs which is a moderate total to defend for a 40 over match. Most of the batsman did not manage to make much of an impact as they chipped in with starts but were not able to convert their 10’s and 20’s. However, it was opener Rohan Joshi who looked really solid as he scored a timely knock of 81runs. Rohan smashed 81 off 78balls and mostly dealt with boundaries as he smashed 15fours covering almost every corner of the ground. From the bowlers, Mohsin Shaikh and Subhodh B were the pick of the bowlers taking 4wkts each.

Defending a total of 208, the pressure was more on the bowlers as the batsman only required 5runs an over to chase it down successfully. However, TIFR Sports Club were restricted to 188/all out in 35.2overs with opener Mandar Sawant’s 51 and Naresh’s 41 falling in vain. It was a collectively tight bowling perfomance with Vinayak Mistry bagging 3wkts while Gauran Solanki, skipper Rahul Kulkarni and Vaibhav Bogate taking 2wkts each.
Piramal Healthcare won the match by 19runs while opener Rohan Joshi was declared ‘man of the match’ for his match winning 81.

Played between U19 Bengal Club and U19 Sainath Club Virar at the Youth’s own union cc, Cross Maidan. Bengal Club who have a strong batting line up elected to bat first on the back of their good batting line and up and post a decent total to defend.


Bengal Club batting first were all out for 209/10 in 44.5 overs and even that was possible because of their top order as they virtually suffered a collapse after the top 3. Two really talented players Aarya Satpure and Tasyam Chavan openin the innings gave a solid start with a 97run stand where they both scored 44 each while Manal Kawle who came at no.3 scored a very solid half century. Manal was dominating and aggressive counter attacking the bowlers with his 49ball 50 which had 4fours and a six. From the bowlers, medium pacer Jollwin Gonsalves and off-spinner Ruthik Rathod were the pick of the bowlers taking 4wkts each.

Defending a moderate total of 210, Sainath Virar were bundled out for 90runs all out as left arm spinner Varun Joijode came up with a match winning bowling spell of 5/14 in 8overs with 4maidens. Varun has bagged a lot of wickets this season and looks outright impressive as he keeps on bowling well consistently while left arm medium pacer Rohit Chopdekar took 3wkts as Bengal Club clinched a dominating win by 119runs.

After a grueling and an intenseful season where numerous teams and hundreds of players gave their best in the Kalpesh Koli Tournament, it was now time for the finals. Two of the best teams which have performed well throughout the season took on each other for the final clash at the New Hind SC, Dadkar Maidan where in Worli skipper Ayush Zimare won the toss and elected to bowl first.

His decision to bowl first seemed to be spot on as Virar+Palghar were all out for 194runs in 72.5 overs. Opener Aditya Warang top scored with a brisk 150ball 45 while all-rounders Princely Perreira and Aman Tiwary chipped in with 30’s taking their team to a somewhat respectable total. From the bowlers, it was their left arm spin all-rounder and the current sensation Ayush Zimare being the pick of the bowlers with 4/35 in 19.5 overs while off-spinner Omkar Khot also bagging two wickets.

U16 Worli Team who have really played well throughout the tournament suffered a batting collapse in the finals with only their 3 batsman namely- Opener Tanmay (33), Parth Pathak (23) and Ayush Zimare trying to make a difference. Ayush Zimare who came at no.5 fought like a lone warrior leading from the front with a stoic 87 off 183balls. Ayush led from the front in both the departments but he lacked support from the other end as his team lost the match on 1st innings by 23runs. Left-arm spinner Aman Tiwari and Aaron Rodrigues were excellent with the ball bagging 3wkts each while the rest of the bowlers also bowled well.

U16 Virar+Palghar team win the Kalpesh Koli Tournament 2018 and lift the coveted title. Indian Batting Legend Sunil Gavaskar graced the closing ceremony along with other officials as the tournament ended on a successful note.

Played at the Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana, U16 Bandra and U16 Vasai team took on each other with Bandra skipper winning the toss and electing to bat first on a track which looked good for the batsman.

Their decision to bat first did seem to be accurate with opener Al Saad and Aryan More giving a solid 162run stand for the 2nd wicket which set the positive momemtum. Al-saad opening the innings scored a solid 69 off 180balls while skipper Aryan More led from the front top scoring the innings with a brisk 88 off 182balls laced with 14fours. Saad Shaikh who came at no.4 also looked really solid as he scored a timely 64 off mere 84balls (9fours). It was on the back of three solid fifties that Bandra team reached a total of 301/6 in 91overs.
SRT XI on the other hand were all out for 235/10 runs with Prateek Gond at no.7 top scoring with 67*off 169balls. Prateek played a fighting knock while the rest of the batsman struggled to make much of an impact. All-rounder Farhaan Shaikh who is also a wily left arm spinner bowled a match winning spell of 5/54 in 21overs with 7maidens. It was on the back of his disciplined and consistent bowling that U16 Bandra team won the match with Aryan, Saad, Al-saad and Farhan leading from the front.

Yash Kripal has been one talented bowler and a positive to come out from the Kalpesh Koli Tournament this season. He has bowled some really good and effective bowling spells so far and has helped his team Ghatkoper Center win on numerous occasions.

Playing for Ghatkoper Center this season, in the match vs U16 Mahul which was played on 12th May at Matunga Gymkhana, Mahul team won the toss and elected to bat first. However, they were all out for 118runs with Yash Kripal taking 2wkts along with other bowlers in the1st innings. His team, Ghatkoper was in deep trouble after they were all out for mere 92runs in reply. Ghatkoper Center required a miracle to stay in the match and reduce Mahul team to a low total which they could chase and in came left-arm spinner Yash Kripal. Yash bamboozled the batsman with one of the best bowling figures in this year’s tournament coming up with a stunning 8/24 in 11overs which reduced the Mahul team to 94runs all out bringing his team back into the game. In that vicious spell, Yash also took one fabulous hat-trick which completely changed the momentum as Ghatkoper center chased down the score successfully winning the match by a close margin of 1wkt.

In the 2nd match vs the famed DY Patil team, DY Patil who batted first after winning the toss declared their innings on 139/9 with Yash continuing his good form taking 4/11 in 12.5 overs with 7maidens being the pick of the bowlers. Ghatkoper in reply declared their innings on 149/6. DY Patil confidently declared their innings on 161/6 in their 2nd innings with Yash again bagging 4wkts being the leading bowler for his team. Ghatkoper center eventually chased down the score winning the match by 4wtks while Yash’s bowling played a crucial role in the win.
Yash was also awarded the best bowler of tournament from Ratnakar Shetty (BCCI official) & in the presence of Legend Sunil Gavaskar 💐
With 20wkts in 3matches, one hat-trick and best bowling figures of 8/24, Yash is certainly one bowler to look out for in the coming future tournaments.

Played between Sachin Tendulkar XI and Sunil Gavaskar XI which are two really promising teams, Gavaskar XI boys won the toss and elected to field first with an aim of restricting the opposition to a low total.
Little did they knew that SRT XI has a player who is in smashing form in the past few tournaments and he just continued his purple patch from where he left behind. Aditya Rawat who was just in the news for scoring a half century as well as bagging 5wkts in the same match continued to impress as this time he went on to score a marathon knock of 201* off 290 deliveries. SRT XI reached 328/4 before they declared with Aditya smashing 65% of the team runs. What’s more he dodged the bowlers with ease while gave proper treatment to the loose deliveries smashing around 35boundaries in his impressive double century. Jaycool Girase (46) and Mohit Tanwar (47) also gave him good support before they declared their innings on a good total.

Sunil Gavaskar XI on the other hand scored 246/7 in 79 overs before the match drawned. Jayesh Patil (58*) and Jeevan (37) were the top scorers in the match.
The match resulted in a draw but there were definitely some positives with most importantly Aditya once again impressing one and all with his confident batting.

Played between Khar Gymkhana and Kalyan+Bhiwandi at the Navroz, Azad Maidan. Khar Gymkhana won the toss and elected to bowl first on a wicket which is more in the favor of the bowlers. Hence a decision to bowl first was quite spot on.

However, Kalyan+Bhiwandi team batted really well notching up 272runs in 99.5 overs. Opening the innings, talented Jaycool Girase who has time and again impressed everyone with his solid batting and leadership skills went on to score a rock solid 107* off 313 deliveries(9fours). Jaycool anchored the innings the very end remaining unbeaten while Pratik Warang at no.5 gave a good support scoring an impressive 75 off 121balls laced with 6boundaries. Jaycool batted more than half of his team innings and single handedly and it shows the amount of temperament and composure the young kid has at the crease. Left-arm spinners Dhawatl Mate and Aditya Baliwada were the pick of the bowlers taking 4wkts each.

Khar Gymkhana in return were all out for 140runs in 54.2 overs with Aditya Baliwada fighting as a lone warrior scoring 59* off 96balls making it an all-round perfomance. On the other hand, left arm spinner Anurag Singh was the pick of the bowlers taking 4/40 in 20overs. Even Anurag has been bowling really well past few months and looks very impressive too. Kalyan+Bhiwandi were 62/1 in their 2nd innings with S.Salunkhe(28*) and Jaycool Girase (18*) remaining unbeaten.
Kalyan+Bhiwandi won the match on 1st innings lead of 132runs where in Jaycool won the hearts of many with his enterprising ton while Pratik, Anurag, Aditya Baliwada were also impressive with their individual performances.

Played at the iconic and well maintained MIG Cricket Club, two really young and promising teams took on each other namely Worli XI and Shivaji Park XI where in Shivaji Park skipper Arjun Dani won the toss and elected to bowl first on a track which had support for both the batsman as well as the bowlers.

U/16 Worli team hardly looked deterred after being made to bat first as they notched up a very healthy total of 306/10 in 78.4overs. Opener Tanmay gave a good start with 37 while talented right handed prodigy Parth Pathak top scored the innings with a timely 76 off 110balls(9fours) while he also received support from all-round Ayush Zimare who scored 39. Omkar Khot who came at no.7 also played a fine knock of 40runs off 86balls while Prince Badiyani and Kaushal Rege chipped in with 30’s to help their team cross a total of 300+

U/16 Shivaji Park in return were skittled out for 125runs in 63.3 overs skipper Arjun Dani being the lone warrior scoring a fighting 60 off 156balls. Ayush Zimare who has been in terrific form with the ball this season continued to impress coming up with envious bowling figures of 5/18 in 19.3overs with as many as 13maidens in it. Ayush at one point was unplayable while the rest of the bowlers also did a good job. Receiving a follow on, Shivaji Park were again 7down for 62dd runs before the match ended. Ayush Zimare took another 5wkts for 22runs taking his tally of wkts to 10 in the match.

Worli Center won the match on 1st innings and it was a massive win with the batsman doing a good job while Ayush is one such player to look out for in the future.

Played at the Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana in Kandivali, two really balanced and talented teams namely Sunil Gavaskar XI and SRT XI took on each other with Gavaskar XI team winning the toss and electing to bat first on a track which has been assistive for the batsman.


S.Gavaskar XI batting first scored 235/10 in 67overs despite suffering some early jolts when they were struggling on 4/39 at one point. Right-handers Vaibhav Patil and left handed Dhrumil Matkar stitched a crucial 162run stand for the 5th wkt which saved them from an embarrassingly low total. While Vaibhav scored a solid 84 off 154balls (14fours) which looked quite composed, Dhrumil on the other hand scored a well time 89 off 95balls (12fours, 1six) keeping the scoreboard ticking. From the bowlers, medium pacer Shahid Khan was the pick of the bowlers taking 4/40 in 18overs. On the other hand, SRT XI made 263/10 in their 1st innings as most of the batsmen were able to give good starts chipping in with 20’s and 40’s with left-handed Abhishek Srivastav top scoring at no.6 smashing 76 off 94balls laced with 10fours and a six. From the bowlers, all-rounder Dhrumil Matkar was the pick of the bowlers taking 4/57 making it an all-round perfomance.


S.Gavaskar XI declared their innings at 270/7 in the 2nd innings with Agni Chopra who has had a good season and has been amongst the top run getters in this tournament extending his purple patch with the bat hitting a dominating 103 off mere 71balls. Agni was in a different zone and stayed true to his name firing up the bowers with 6fours and 7biggies.


Chasing a total of 246, SRT XI were off to a terrific start with their openers Bhupen Lalwani (58 off 148) who has also been in great form and the aggressive Japjeet S Randhawa(59 off 83) smashing fifties which created a positive momentum while chasing while the talented Nikhil Patil anchored the chase with a sublime 71* off 112at the middle order. Abhishek also gave good support to Nikhil with his 103ball 35. SRT XI eventually won the match by 4wkts and it was definitely a good team perfomance where all the boys contributed in their capacity. S.Gavaskar XI did lost the semis but players like Agni chopra have emerged to be a rising talent while Dhrumil also impressed one and all with his all-round show.
