Just fresh from a match winning 126 vs the Andhra Tigers in the last match which helped Mumbai win the match by an innings, right handed Suryansh continues to impress the selectors with his solid batting and composure. More than that, Suryansh has impressed the cricketing community with his consistency as he has piled runs across all the formats since 2017.


In the match which ended on 15th September vs Andhra Lions, Mumbai after being made to bat first managed to score a whopping 450runs on the board in their 1st innings. Two solid openers Vedant Gadia (52) and Jash Ganiga (51) gave a thumping start with their half centuries while Musheer Khan at no.4 scored a splendid 66 developing the positive momentum for Mumbai to score big. Suryansh who came at no.5 pounced on the positive momentum left behind by the top order as he went on to score a swashbuckling 131runs off just 125balls (20fours, 1six) without wasting any time at the crease. He also stitched a crucial 152run stand with Musheer which propelled Mumbai to reach 450runs for the loss of 8wkts before they declared their innings batting for 128overs.

Andhra Lions on the other hand were all out for 213runs with their lower middle order saving the grace. Prince Badiyani with 4/54 was the pick of the bowlers while Aayush Zimare chipped in with 3/30. Mumbai batted for 8.5overs before the end of the game’s play where Mumbai team won the match on 1st innings.

Played between Chattisgarh and Mumbai team, Chattisgarh winning the toss elected to bat first notching up 147runs all out in their 1st innings. Spinner Varun Joijode who has been bowling consistently well in the MCA tournaments this year performed well at the big stage too impressing the cricketing community with his impressive spin.

Varun came up with envious bowling figures of 6/42 in 18.1overs running through the batting line up for Chattisgarh with his wily spin. Mumbai team in reply batted really well declaring their innings on 236/7 in 57overs. Opener Suved Parkar who is known for his solid batting at the top of the order top scored with a stylish 73 off 122balls laced with 6fours and 2sixes.
Chattisgarh team in their 2nd innings batted for 60overs for the loss of 6wkts and 169runs before the end of the game’s play where Mumbai team won the match on 1st innings lead. Varun took another 2wkts in 2nd innings taking his tally of wickets to 8/89 while all-rounder Divyansh also chipped in with 2wkts.
Played between Assam and Mumbai, Mumbai winning the toss elected to field first with an aim of restricting Assam to a low total and chasing it down successfully.

Assam Team batting first were reduced to 140runs all out with the Mumbai bowlers putting up a collectively good bowling perfomance. Himanshu Singh with 4/73 was the pick of the bowlers while the rest of the bowlers chipped in with a wicket each. Mumbai team in reply displayed how balanced batting unit they possess declaring their innings on 303/9 in 125overs. Opening the innings, Jash Ganiga top scored with 81runs of 283balls. Having this much patience and stability at the crease while facing almost 50 overs is a rare sight nowadays while Ayush Jethwa(74) and wicket keeper Sai Chavan(54) chipped in with crucial half centuries.
Assam Team in their 2nd innings were again all out for 140runs as little master Musheer Khan weaved his magic with the ball taking 4/44 in 20overs along with Shubham Kharat who bagged 3wkts. Mumbai team won the match by an innings in a very commanding fashion with all the playing XI contributing together as a team.

Atish Walinjkar has been one of the experienced bowlers in Mumbai cricket and this season he has already started off on a positive note. Atish who had bagged a fifer in his 1st match continued the onslaught with the ball as this time he registered one of the most impressive spells in his division.
Played between Shantibhai SM CC and Ours CC at the Ours CC Ground in Virar, Shantibhai SM CC after being made to bat first were all out for 107runs in 37.3overs with not a single batsman managing to score more than 20runs. Spinner Atish Walinjkar was the pick of the bowlers bagging a stunning 8wkts for mere 27runs in 25.3overs. His spell also included 10 maidens as he ran through the opposition’s batting line up with his wily spin.
Ours CC in reply declared their innings on 109/1 in 25overs. Opener Amit Rathod top scored with 43* alongwith Dushyant Kadam who remained unbeaten on 27*. Shantibhai SM CC batted for an over in 2nd innings before the end of the game’s play where Ours CC won the match on 1st innings lead.
Parsee Cyclists over the last few years has been a very strong team because of its strong bowling attack with Ajit and Farhad always leading from the front as bowling partners. Ajit Rodrigues who was amongst the top wicket takers last year continues to top the charts this year too with 16scalps so far in just 3 innings with 2 fifers and a bowling average of less than 15.00
In the match which was played at Shivaji Park Dadar, Parsee Cyclists after being made to bat first declared their innings on 75runs for the loss of 6wkts. Vijay CC in return could have been bundled out for a record lowest total as they were 6wkts down for mere 17runs in 15 overs before luckily the game ended. Right arm medium pacer Ajit Rodrigues came up with the best bowling spell of his division bagging 5wkts while conceding mere 2runs with 6 maidens in his terrific spell of 8overs. Ajit keeps on impressing the cricketing community with his laser sharp line and length which helps his team dominate in most of the matches.
The match eventually ended in a draw with no results being obtained but Ajit with his sharp bowling certainly brought the match very close to reaching a favorable result for Parsee Cyclists.
Played at the Highcourt SC, Oval Maidan, Kurla SC and Mazgaon CC took on each other in a rain drenched Sunday where most of the matches were washed out. Luckily for these two teams, they managed to play a full game and because of that we got to see one excellent display of fast bowling by a medium pacer named Ramchandra Pol.
Kurla SC after losing the toss were made to bat first which seemed to be a perfect decision as they were reduced to mere 57runs all out in 36overs. Not a single batsman apart from their opener converted their scores in double digit and a major reason for that was Mazgaon’s Ramchanda Pol. Ramchandra bagged the best bowling figures of his division taking a stunning 7wkts while conceding only 13runs in his spell of 11overs which consisted 5maidens and 3 batsman getting out clean bowled. It was an inspiring spell from Pol as he changed the game single handedly with his bowling.
Mazgaon CC on the other hand declared their innings at 60/4 winnings the match on 1st innings lead. It was a match dominated by Mazgaon CC right from the beginning while Ram Pol definitely grabbed all the attention with his bowling heroics.
The Kanga matches which were scheduled on 16th September were most abandoned due to rains but there were a few matches played which witnessed some great individual performances. One such match was between Parel SC and Young Mohmeddan CC where in Parel SC were made to bat first on the Khar Gymkhana Ground.

Parel SC were all out for 163runs in 43.2 overs with their promising opener Srujan Athawale top scoring with a solid 59. Right handed Srujan Athawale who scored a match winning half century in the 1st match continued his good form facing 78deliveries while hitting 2fours and 3sixes for his breezy 59. Nikhil Patil Sr. also looked good for his 43runs while the rest of the batsman struggled. Spinner Naushad Khan who is the highest wicket taker in his division bagged his 2nd consecutive 5wkt haul taking 6/85 in 18.2overs becoming the pick of the bowlers.

Young Mohmmedan CC which is a relatively experienced team received a terrific fightback from the Parel SC boys as they restricted them to just 125runs in 32.1overs. Medium pacer Sahil Phegade bowled one of the best bowling spells of his division coming up with match winning bowling figures of 6/12 in 9overs. Sahil was spot on with the ball as Parel SC clinched a win on 1st innings lead.
By now we all know Kanga matches and especially good performances in Kanga League is not just limited to A & B Division but across all divisions. Hence here are the latest updates from what happened last Sunday in the C & D Division of Kanga league 2018.
C Div

In the match between Koli Combined XI and Maskati Cricket Club at Oval Maidan, Koli Combined were bundled out to a mere 43runs in 1st innings with just one batsman scoring in double figures. All-rounder Rahul Sawant was the pick of the bowlers taking 4wkts for mere 7runs while Ankit Singh also grabbed 4/19. Maskati CC on the other hand declared their innings on 75/7 in 27.1overs. Koli Combined were 76/4 in 2nd innings before the game ended with Maskati CC winning the match on 1st innings lead.

Two promising teams Young Maharashtra and Islam Gymkhana took on each other with Young Maharashtra team batting first getting all out for 123runs in 46overs. Experienced Spinner Hitesh Kadam was the wrecker in chief bagging 5/51 in 18overs with 4maidens. Islam Gymkhana batted for 29overs for the loss of 7wkts before the end of the game’s play resulting in a draw.
D Div

In the match between Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana and Evergreen SC at the Dadkar Maidan, JVPG team declared their innings on 125/6 in 43.4overs with Ankit Mithawala rescuing the innings from 6/68 to 125/6 as he scored a crucial 53ball 62* at no.7. Ankit smashed 6sixes in his aggressive mode of batting which was a treat to watch. Evergreen SC were 57/7 in 22 overs before the match ended in a draw.
