Taking on Bengal at the Kholvad Gymkhana in Surat, Bengal team opting to bat first were reduced for mere 114runs in 32overs as Arjun Tendulkar with his left arm pace impressed one and all taking 3/28 alongwith good support from Athara Ankolekar who took 3/32.


Chasing 115, Mumbai team were off to a somewhat patchy start but their opener Divyansh Saxena who has played consistently across all formats this year including overseas continued to impress with a solid unbeaten 56* off 94 balls (8fours, 1six) anchoring Mumbai U19 to a comfortable win.

Now St. Francis has become the first school of Kanjurmarg to Win Girls DSO Finals under the captaincy of Pranjal Malekar. Apart from that, Arshati Nehalkar was the leading wicket taker for her Team while Shrushti Naik was the highest run scorer of the tournament.
St. Francis Xavier’s team looked very confident from the first knock out game of the tournament and on the back of collective team perfomance they won the tournament with dominance.

Ours CC batting first at Cross Maidan declared their innings on 184/7 with Roopkumar Yadav (63*) and Ranjit Gharat(54*) smashing crucial fifties when team was struggling at 7/95.
Defending their score of 184, left-arm spinner Atish Walinjkar once again changed the game coming up with envious bowling figures of 6/18 in 14overs with 5maidens and an economy of less than 1.5runs per over. Atish’s consistency with the ball has been the best across his division and the way he has taken wickets just shows the form he is in with the ball as Dahisar Youngsters were all out for 69runs helping his team Ours CC win the match on 1st innings lead.
Atish Walinjkar now has 23wkts in 4games with 3five wkt hauls making him the leading wicket taker in Kanga in his division.
Bhupen is turning out to be one of the most dependable openers in Mumbai cricket as he has learned the art of anchoring the innings through thick and thin. Just recently he had scored an unbeaten hundred batting till the end for Bombay Gymkhana in Police Shield when wickets kept on loosing from the other end and now he continues his magic in the Shalini Bhalekar Tournament ’18.
Played at the KSA, Cross Maidan, Jehangir Pithawala XI could have not reached a total of 291/10 had it been their opener Bhupen not hitting a fluent ton at the top of the order. Bhupen scored 130 off 271balls anchoring the innings laced with 14fours in an innings when the 2nd highest score was 39.
In reply, Dilip Vengsarkar XI were all out for 142/10 as Bhupen’s ton helped his team reach a strong position in the match.
Jitesh had bowled really well in his last match, he had taken a brilliant fifer which helped his team dominate and this time again in his next match for Goregaon SC vs Ghatkoper Jolly Gymkhana, he stole the show with his bowling.
Ghatkopar Jolly Gymkhana were reduced to mere 49runs all out at Shivaji Park as Jitesh ran through the entire batting line up of theirs coming up with stunning bowling figures of 6/15. Jitesh was spot on with the bowl with an economy of just 1.5runs inflicting maximum damage to the opposite team. What’s more! Jitesh also grabbed a brilliant hat-trick in his spell of 6/15 which changed the game upside down for Ghatkopar team. Sachin Khartade also gave good support bagging 4wkts.
In reply, Goregaon SC declared their innings at 99/3 winning the match on 1st innings lead.
Left-arm Medium Pacer Balakrushna Shirke has been in amazing form with the ball. After a brilliant Kanga outing for him where he took 5wkt hauls twice, now he carried over his good form into the Police Shield Tournament with a match winning fifer.

New Hind SC after being made to bat first were all out for 200runs in 68overs and medium pacer Balkrishna Shirke was the pick of the bowlers coming up with impressive bowling figures of 5/52 in 16overs. The consistency along with line and length has resulted a good yield for Balkrishna as he has now become the pace spearhead for his team.

Chasing 201, Sumit opening the innings gave a good start while it was the experienced Gaurav Jathar at the middle order coming good with a classy 75 off 106balls (7fours,1six). Gaurav looked very solid while Nikhil Patil remained unbeaten at 40* as MIG team won the match by 4wkts.
There is something about All-Rounders which always makes them an exciting prospect in cricket, the day when they can’t change the game with the ball, they do it with the bat and some days it’s the other way round.
Just fresh from 6wkts in his last match, this time KRP XI batting first at Cross Maidan declared their innings on 188/5. Left-handed Rakesh Naik coming at no.5 scored the fastest Kanga Hundred for 2018 smashing it in mere 57 balls. Scoring a normal hundred itself in Kanga is a big thing and when you score in such fashion, it just shows the amount of talent Rakesh possesses. Rakesh smashed 13 fours and 7 sixes enthralling one and all in his unbeaten 100*.

What’s more, defending 188, KRP XI reduced Diamond Star CC to just 48runs all out as off-spinner Amit Wadkar came up with an unplayable and a magical spell taking 5 wkts for mere 4 runs in 6overs helping KRP XI win the match on 1st innings lead.
Mumbai cricket has so much of untapped talent which most of the Mumbaites are not even aware about. There are players giving their best and putting up excellent performances and one of them is Rohit Talreja who has been in a great form with the ball.
In his previous match of Kanga Rohit had bagged a brilliant fifer and now again vs DPZ Sports Club. His team batting first were all out for 110runs with Bhushan Talwadekar taking 5/39 being the pick of the bowlers.
Defending a lot total of 110, Superstar SC gave a great fight as Rohit came up with a sensational spell of fast bowling coming up with envious and match winning bowling figures of 6/13 in 11.2overs. Rohit was simply spot on with the ball as he kept on giving breakthroughs to his team helping Superstar SC win the match on 1st innings lead.
Only the third time has this feat of 5wkts and a half century in the same match has been achieved this year in Kanga out of hundreds of matches being played as Ravi Shinde joins the elite list of all-rounders in Mumbai Cricket.
Jolly Cricketers batting first scored 216/10 in 55overs with Ravi Shinde who came at no.3 scoring a fluent 60 off 83balls laced with 6fours and 2sixes. Udayan Shukla at the lower order also played a crucial hand smashing 58. From Shivaji Park Youngsters, Atharva Dakway and Nitin Surve bagged 4wkts each.
In reply, Shivaji Park team were 122/7 before the end of the game’s play with Ravi Shinde bagging 5 out of those 7wkts with his medium pace bowling conceding 44runs in 11overs. It was a day owned by Ravi while the match ended in a draw.
Restricting Maskati CC to 161runs at Khar Gymkhana in 38.4overs, now the pressure was to chase it properly. However, Priyank Shetty opening the innings played a classy knock of 89* off 105balls (8fours, 1six) setting the tone for a perfect chase. Mehbook Shaikh who is a young wicket keeper batsman also looked very promising missing out on a deserving ton. Mehboob scored 90*off mere 68balls (9fours, 3sixes) in what was a brilliant display of dominance.

Mehbook showed how handy a batsman he can be while Priyank’s anchoring knock helped Khar Gymkhana win the match on 1st innings lead.
