Automotive team has been supporting MIG Cricket Club for the past 2years and the constant support and hardwork seems to be finally paid off as MIG Cricket Club in the latest season of Kanga gave some excellent performances while also went on to win the A Div Kanga League.

Automotive team who are in its 2nd year of sponsorship with MIG is proving to be lucky for the club as the team has progressed leaps and bounds over the past few seasons. Sachin Sanghvi from Automotive in a recent interview with Cricketgraph quipped ‘MIG is now one of the best teams in Mumbai cricket winning the A Div and it feels proud to be a part of that family, I wish them the best they keep on performing consistently while we support them in whatever opportunities we can”.

Sachin Sanghvi also thanked the entire team right from the support staff, groundsman, the skipper who led from the front to the management led by Amit Dani and colleagues in supporting the cricketers in the best capacity.

5. Rudra Dhanday- 120* off 127 balls for Karnatak SA in Kanga League ‘18

Played between Karnatak SA and Dadar Union at the KSA, Cross Maidan. Karnatak SA after being made to bat first displayed their batting strength on their home ground as they notched up a commanding total of 216/4 in 47overs. Opening the innings, Rudra Dhanday played till the very end smashing a brilliant 120* off 139balls (11fours, 2sixes). Rudra who is an attacking batsman showed that he can adjust well to the situations and also play with a calm head scoring half of the runs running between the wickets.

Dadar Union batted for 38 overs for the loss of 5wkts before the match ended in a draw.

4. Praful Waghela- 139 off 131 balls for Payyade SC in Kanga League ‘18

Two batsmen of different generations with different dimensions teaming it up together for an eye pleasing 223run stand which itself is a record for one of the best partnerships in Kanga league this year.

Held at Islam Gymkhana between Payade SC and Sind SC, Payyade SC batting first managed to score a very healthy total of 301/6 on board. Despite two early wickets, left-handed Praful Waghela and Sarfaraz Khan who came at no.3 & 4 respectively stitched the innings with a crucial 223runs stand solidifying Payyade’s innings. Praful scored an enterprising 139 off 131balls (17fours, 2sixes) which became the highest score in this year’s Kanga League ’18.

Ishan Mithbavkar- 100* off 69 balls for Abbott in Milan T20 Tournament ‘18

Even though the openers failed to give a good start, it was their talented no.3 batsman Ishan Mithbavkar who has been in excellent form in 2018 continuing his good form. Ishan delivered at the right time under pressure as he went on to score a brilliant as well as a match winning 100* off mere 69balls. Ishan counter attacked the bowlers smashing 16boundaries while he also did good running between the wickets keeping the scoreboard ticking.

Abbott team won the semi-finals while Ishan stole the show single handedly.

2. Mohit Tanwar- 142 off 151 balls for SRT XI in the finals of U14 Summer Vacation Tournament ‘18

It was the all important finals at the united cricketers, Cross Maidan where in two really strong teams full of talented youngsters took on each other namely U14 SRT and U14 Kalyan+Bhiwandi where in both the teams have consistently played well throughout the season.

SRT team winning the toss batted first notching up 233/10 in 72.1overs. It was basically a batting collapse as apart from Raj and Mohit, only 41runs were accounted between 9players. Mohit who came at no.3 once again played a dazzling innings smashing a superlative 142 off 151balls laced with 14fours and 2sixes. Mohit as usual kept on playing his natural game and kept the scoreboard ticking despite wickets being lost from the other end.

U14 SRT team won the finals of the MCA U14 Summer Vacation Tournament and it was definitely because of great co-ordination amongst the boys with consistent good cricket being played. Mohit Tanwar stole the show in the finals while he has a consistent run scorer in whichever tournaments he has played so far.

AND FINALLY THE NO.1

1. Manan Bhatt- 152* off 62 balls for IES in DSO U14 Tournament ‘18

IES team after winning the toss notched up a massive target of 210/1 in 15overs and that was all possible because of their swashbuckling opener Manan Bhatt. The little master simply took on the bowlers with pure dominance reaching his ton in mere 47balls making it the fastest ton not only in DSO but also one of the fastest overall in Mumbai Local cricket for 2018. Manan went on to score an unbeaten 152* off just 62balls laced with 24fours and 5sixes as most of the bowlers went for a thrashing. What’s more he scored his last 49runs in mere 15balls accelerating furthermore in the last 5overs.

In reply, Lakshdham High School managed to score only 86/7 in 15 overs as IES were handed over a big win by a margin of 124runs. It was a match which captured everyone’s attention as Manan kept the bowler on toes.

The final day of the A and B Div Kanga was on 30th September 2018, one of the biggest tournaments in Mumbai every year ended this Sunday and the top teams of A Division who were all sitting at 8points would now win on the basis of the net run rate. One such deciding match of A Div was between MIG CC and Parkophene Cricketers where in MIG CC won the toss and on their own home ground and elected to bowl first.

Parkophene Cricketers winning the toss were all out for 147runs as MIG bowlers did a wonderful job. MIG Bowlers did great teamwork with as many as 5bowlers of theirs bagging 2wkts each. In reply MIG CC managed to score 80/5 in 16overs before the end of the game’s play where the match ended in a draw.

Experienced leg-break googly bowler Pardeep Sahu who is not only a popular player of IPL but was also one of the bowlers specially called to UAE by the Australian cricket team to prepare the Aussies against the quality spin bowling of India gave a fantastic perfomance bagging 4out of 5wkts of MIG. Pardeep came up with bowling figures of 4/28 in 6overs removing the top order batsman with ease.

MIG CC won the A Div League of Kanga on the basis of Net run rate and it was overall a good team perfomance throughout the tournament which helped them lift the coveted title. It was also their skipper Kevin Almeida who led from the front with impressive leadership skills helping MIG Progress consistently.

Praful Dhule who played from Shardashram School was once Sachin’s classmate in Ruparel College. He was not only a cricket lover but an active player in Mumbai Cricket.

Praful Dhule was an attacking opening batsman and he played Kanga League “A” Div for various teams like MB Union CC, Karnatak Sporting Association, Cricket Club of India as well as National Cricket Club. Praful Dhule has also opened with the likes of Wasim Jaffer representing Mumbai Team in the under 14, Under 16 and Under 19 categories.

Praful Dhule was also in the Mumbai Ranji Trophy Squad while he played Times Shield from Future group, Route amongst other teams.

In the last 2years Praful joined DTDC Company as a captain and coach of their team while this year he played his last matches in Kanga League leading the KRP XI team as a skipper while also scoring 48runs in his last 2games.

Praful Dhule who played for almost 15years in A Div was once the highest run getter lost his life at an early age due to heart attack a few weeks ago and is going to be missed by his team mates a lot. Prolific All-Rounder Rakesh Naik who played with him in KRP XI this year in Kanga spoke exclusively with Cricketgraph & said “I dedicate my last weekend’s ton to my Captain Praful Dhule, will miss him a lot”

Played at the SRT Ground Kandivali, Vengsarkar XI after opting to bat first made a massive total of 385/9 in 83.3overs. Opening the innings, Sai Chavan changed the game single handedly dominating the opposition with a fiery 165 off 164balls. Sai kept the scoreboard ticking while dealt with the loose balls with authority smashing 27fours and 3sixes dealing mostly in boundaries. Apart from him, Nabijaan Ansari and Aman Tiwary smashed crucial half centuries.

Rohit Sharma XI were all out for 124runs in 1st innings receiving a follow on and 158all out in 2nd innings as Vengsarkar XI won the match by an innings. Aman who scored half century also took 4wkts in the 2nd innings making it an all-round perfomance.

 

In what turned out to be a low scoring match, U16 Sunil Gavaskar XI were bundled out for 146runs all out as their batting line up collapsed in an unexpected manner. Medium Pacer Aryan Joshi did a fantastic job with the ball taking 5/40 in a long spell of 23overs which included 8maidens.

However, Gavaskar XI gave a tough fight to the SRT XI boys at the SRT Ground Kandivali restricting them to 159all out. Yash Kripal and Musheer Ahmed were the pick of the bowlers taking 3wkts each in the 1st innings.

The game changed in the 2nd innings as Gavaskar XI this time posted a good total on the board declaring their innings at 203/5 on the back of Musheerahmed’s 79*off mere 73balls at no.5. Musheer along with Omkar Malekar who scored 64 ressurected the innings back for their team. SRT XI were 116/5 in 2nd innings before the end of the game’s play where they won the match on 1st innings lead.

Taking on Bengal at the Kholvad Gymkhana in Surat, Bengal team opting to bat first were reduced for mere 114runs in 32overs as Arjun Tendulkar with his left arm pace impressed one and all taking 3/28 alongwith good support from Athara Ankolekar who took 3/32.

Chasing 115, Mumbai team were off to a somewhat patchy start but their opener Divyansh Saxena who has played consistently across all formats this year including overseas continued to impress with a solid unbeaten 56* off 94 balls (8fours, 1six) anchoring Mumbai U19 to a comfortable win.

 

Under the guidance and leadership of coaches of Pro King Sports Academy- Mr.Sagar Khandagale and Mr.Raju Ambre. St.Francis Xaviers girls won the DSO Finals of Mumbai Suburb.

Now St. Francis  has become the first school of Kanjurmarg to Win Girls DSO Finals under the captaincy of Pranjal Malekar. Apart from that, Arshati Nehalkar was the leading wicket taker for her Team while Shrushti Naik was the highest run scorer of the tournament.

St. Francis Xavier’s team looked very confident from the first knock out game of the tournament and on the back of collective team perfomance they won the tournament with dominance.

Women’s cricket has been improving leaps and bounds since the last few years thanks to perfomances like this which keeps on inspiring other girls to take up the sport!

Ours CC batting first at Cross Maidan declared their innings on 184/7 with Roopkumar Yadav (63*) and Ranjit Gharat(54*) smashing crucial fifties when team was struggling at 7/95.

Defending their score of 184, left-arm spinner Atish Walinjkar once again changed the game coming up with envious bowling figures of 6/18 in 14overs with 5maidens and an economy of less than 1.5runs per over. Atish’s consistency with the ball has been the best across his division and the way he has taken wickets just shows the form he is in with the ball as Dahisar Youngsters were all out for 69runs helping his team Ours CC win the match on 1st innings lead.

Atish Walinjkar now has 23wkts in 4games with 3five wkt hauls making him the leading wicket taker in Kanga in his division.

 

Bhupen is turning out to be one of the most dependable openers in Mumbai cricket as he has learned the art of anchoring the innings through thick and thin. Just recently he had scored an unbeaten hundred batting till the end for Bombay Gymkhana in Police Shield when wickets kept on loosing from the other end and now he continues his magic in the Shalini Bhalekar Tournament ’18.

Played at the KSA, Cross Maidan, Jehangir Pithawala XI could have not reached a total of 291/10 had it been their opener Bhupen not hitting a fluent ton at the top of the order. Bhupen scored 130 off 271balls anchoring the innings laced with 14fours in an innings when the 2nd highest score was 39.

In reply, Dilip Vengsarkar XI were all out for 142/10 as Bhupen’s ton helped his team reach a strong position in the match.
