It was not an even steven game that was played between Automotive and Kathiwada on Saturday at MIG Bandra, Mumbai.  Batting first, Automotive posted a competitive score of 153-8 in 20 overs. Opening pair of Aditya Shemadkar (33 off 22) and Rupesh Singh (44 off 35) got off to a flyer as they stitched a solid partnership of 49 runs in 31 balls.

Middle order bat Akash Nair hammered 27 off 15, hitting three sixes to help his team reach 150 runs. For Kathiwada, Nirav Bheda, who bowled a tight line and length, was the only shining star as he accounted for 4-18 in his four overs. Chasing a tricky target of 154, Kathiwada did not get off to a good start, unlike their expectation, as they lost their openers cheaply and were felt wanting at 2-9 inside two overs. Coming in at no. 4 Megh Adhvaryu (34 off 33) tried to consolidate the innings and build the foundation but was outdone by Sushant Waje. Kathiwada innings was sent packing for a measly 91 in 18.2 overs, thus falling short by 62 runs. Automotive bowlers bowled well in tandem, with Parth Mehta, Kalpesh Gharat, and Sushant Waje scalping two wickets apiece.

Rupesh Singh was awarded with the Man of the Match for his scintillating knock of 44 in 35 balls. “I enjoyed facing the medium pace bowlers. The ball was coming on the bat nicely and I was able to time it well. This was my comeback match, and winning the Man of the Match made was like a cherry on the cake”, stated Rupesh.

Automotive vs Kathiwada Match Scorecard

 

Riding on blistering half centuries by two middle order batsmen, Toyota posted a daunting target of 209-7 in 20 overs. Pankaj Jaiswal (64 off 31) and Chinmay Madaye (50 off 24) smashed Indusind bowlers all around the park, hitting a total of 11 boundaries and eight sixes between them.

Jaiswal and Madaye took the game away from the opposition thanks to their powerful strokeplay. In addition to their strong hitting, Pankaj and Chinmay ran well between the wickets, keeping the Indusind fielders on their toes. Apart from Jitendra Yadav (2-22 in four overs), Indusind bowlers had an off day at office and went for far too many runs. Bruised and wounded in the first innings, it was the pay back for Indusind. However, the batting did not click and they lost wickets at regular intervals. Shining with the ball, Jitendra Yadav made the highest contribution with the bat. Yadav managed to score 31 off 32, which included four boundaries and a six. Jaishal Wadiyal and Lalit Holebadi were the pick of the bowlers for Toyota, driving their team to a comprehensive win by 114 runs.

Wadiyal and Holebadi grabbed three wickets each and received good support from Rahil Shaikh, Dilesh Devrukhkar, and Akram Shaikh. Pankaj Jaiswal bagged the Man of the Match for his stupendous performance with the bat.  “It was a good wicket to bat on, and right from the start I was middling the ball really well. I hope to perform in the similar fashion going ahead in the tournament”, expressed Jaiswal.

Toyota vs IndusInd bank Match scorecard

Diamond Star batting first at Shivaj Park Ground could have collapsed for under 100 runs had it not been their opener Haresh Dodia scoring a fighting 84. Right handed Haresh scored 84 off 144 balls (6 fours) in an innings where only two batsman apart from could manage to score in two digits.

Navi Mumbai SC openers on the other hand took on the bowlers from the word go with Arshad Pendhari scoring a brilliant 96 runs. Arshand simply let loose and attacked the bowlers falling just 4 short of what could have been amongst the Top 5 Fastest Hundreds in Kanga this year. Arshad was out on 96 off 59 balls (11 fours, 3 sixes) while Navi Mumbai SC won the match on 1st innings lead by 9 wks.

Played at the KSA, Cross Maidan, U19 Khandu Ragnekar XI batting first could have been in deep trouble had Manal and Divyansh not come to the rescure as the 3rd highest score apart from them was 15 in their innings.

Divyansh opening the innings went on to score a graceful 119 off 192 (12 fours, 1 six) balls in what was a perfect opener’s knock. It had the right amount of poise, grace, power and patience as he toiled hard between the wickets Divyansh got excellent support from Manal Kawle as they stitched a 161 run stand for the 6th wkt when team was 5 wkts down for 54 runs. Manal who came at no.6 displayed rock solid resistance facing 265 deliveries to score 102* as Dattu P XI reached 295/9 dec. Left arm quickster Shreyans Bogar was the pick of the bowler taking 5 wkts.

In reply, Dattu Phadkar XI were all out for 204 runs in 1st innings but Dattu Phadkar collapsed in the 2nd innings getting all out for just 84 runs as Atharva Poojari ran through the batting line up taking 5/43 and Shreyans taking 3wkts taking his tally of wkts to 8 in the match. With a target of just 181, Dattu Phadkar in a terrific comeback in 2nd innings won the match by 6wkts with Siddhant Singh (55*) and Atharva Ankolekar (56*) hitting unbeaten half centuries.

 

Played at the Elg Vengsarkar Oval, Greensole Titans batting first were in deep trouble when they were 33/4 at one point.  However, their fortunes changed all of a sudden when Raghuvansh Shourie who came deep down at no.8 resurrected the innings and brought his team back into the game.

Raghuvansh went on to score a crackling 71 off mere 34 balls in what was a late carnage by Titans. Shourie who played at a strike rate of 200+ smashed 10 fours and a six as his team reached a defendable total of 176/9 in 20 overs.

In reply, Super Strikers managed to score only 120/9 with Manan Shah bowling an impressive spell of 3/14 in 4 overs.

Titans won the match by 56 runs while Raghuvansh for his crucial 71 down the order was declared man of the match.

40+ players like Pravin Tambe, Digvijay Singh and Rajesh Paghdhare are leading by example that age is not a barrier for fitness and sports. Rajesh Paghdhare who is another 45+ player playing active cricket in Mumbai continues to impress one and all becoming a motivation for many.

Kurla SC after being made to bat first at PJ Hindu Gymkhana were all out for mere 70 runs. Shubham Yadav (4/14) and Rajesh Paghdare (4/31) were the pick of the bowlers taking wickets at regular intervals.

Arvind Tandel 46* off 24b and 4 wkts

Young Parsee CC declared their innings at 175/5 after their lower middle order rescuing their team from a stage where they were 3/23 & 5/83. Rajesh Paghdhare and Arvind Tandel at no.6 & 7 stitched a match winning partnership where in Rajesh scored 59*off 41 balls while Arvind’s quick cameo of 46* (24 balls) changed the game in Young Parsee CC’s favor.

Kurla SC were 58/8 in 2nd innings with Arvind Tandel taking 4 wkts making it an all-round performance as Young Parsee CC won the match on 1st innings lead on the back of their two all-Rounders-Rajesh padhare and Arvind Tandel.

In what was a low scoring game for both the sides at the Elf Vengsarkar Oval, Deutsche Bank who batted first were in deep trouble at one point with 15/2 and 24/3. However, Mandar Ponkshe who came at no.3 ressurected the innings back as he fought single handedly to score a valiant 65 runs off 51 balls (5 fours, 4 sixes). Mandar anchored the innings at a time when wickets were losing from the other end and the 2nd highest score was 17 in his team.

In reply, Star India were all out for 108 runs on the back of great bowling performance by the bowlers. Most of the bowlers chipped in with J Parekh’s 3/18 in 4 overs being the best bowling figures.

Deutsche Bank won the match by 16 runs and Mandar Ponkshe who rescued his team with a crucial half century was the highlight performer of the match.

In what was an high intensity match with talented youngsters from both the sides, an exciting competition was bound to happen. Vijay Manjrekar XI after electing to bat first could have been bundled out for a low total had it not half centuries from Varun Lavande (54) and Aryan Badhe (53). Left arm spinner Vignesh Solanki chipped in with 4 wkts while Arjun bagged 2 wkts in 1st innings for Vijay Merchant XI.

Pragnesh Kanpillewar-155 off 113 Balls

Vijay Merchant XI in reply managed to score 335 runs as Pragnesh Kanpillewar once again showed his resistance and solid batting technique going to score a match winning 155 off mere 113 balls. It was an innings of pure belligerence in a test format as he smashed 21 fours and 6 sixes to push his team towards a healthy total.

Vijay Manjrekar XI in their 2nd innings were all out for 216 runs, thanks to Arjun’s tearaway bowling spell where he cleared the top order with excellent line & length. Arjun was spot on with the ball giving consistent breakthroughs while Aarya Satpute was the only saving grace with a valiant 92* saving his team from a collapse. Vijay Merchant XI were 120/4 before the end of the game’s play where they won the match by 6 wkts.

It was a match full of twists and turns while Arjun and Pragnesh were the standout performers in the match.

Citius Tech after batting first at Azad Maidan were all out for 81runs which is a not so defendable total in T20’s. Ketan Kharat was the pick of the bowlers inflicting maximum damage to the opposition as he came up with excellent bowling figures of 4/11 in 4 overs which is quite impressive for a T20 match.

On the back of his excellent spell, WNS A won the match by 9 wkts chasing it down in mere 8.2 overs. Openers Ajinkya (43) and Dnyansagar Patil (33*) finished the game in style while Ketan’s 4 wkts played a big role in the win.
