National CC were 246 all out in 42.1 overs after being made to bat first at Cross Maidan. Sumeet Dhekale at no.4 scored a crucial 92 off mere 54 balls and had he reached his hundred it could have been this year’s fastest ton. The bowlers from CCI did an excellent job with with almost everyone chipping in with wickets.

CCI did felt some early jitters with 2 wkts down for 14 runs while chasing but Ajinkya (36)and Aniket(45) steadied the ship while the experienced Sujit Nayak at no.5 rescued his team out of the trouble scoring a suave 107* off 75 deliveries. Sujit who is a naturally aggressive batsman kept playing his natural game and came good smashing 14 fours and 4 sixes. Not only Sujit brought up a stylish ton but he also helped Cricket Club of India to win by 5 wkts in mere 37.3 overs.

After being made to bat first at the DPC ground, Kotak Mahindra appeared to be least affected posting a massive team total of 214/2 in 20 overs. Despite the openers failing to give a good start, it was Upendra and Subharaman with a record 184 run stand in a T20 match which saved the ship for Kotak Team.

Subharaman played the anchors role to perfection scoring an unbeaten 47* (47 balls) while all eyes were on Upendra’z blazing batting as he demolished the bowlers with his power hitting smashing as many as 11 sixes and 7 fours en-route his 122* which took mere 52 balls at a strike rate of close to 235.00.

CITCO Spartans in reply were bundled out for 101 runs as Kotak Mahindra won by a big margin of 113 runs where in Upendra was declared ‘man of the match’ for his swashbuckling batting.

Punjab after electing to bat first at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC Ground posted a healthy total of 345 runs for their 1st innings with Krutik Hangewadi being the pick of the bowlers taking 5/102 in 22.3 overs. Mumbai in reply suffered a collapse getting all out for 136 runs in their 1st innings.

However, Mumbai bowlers gave a comeback in the 2nd innings reducing Punjab to just 163 runs with Krutik taking another fifer making it a 10 wkt haul with overall bowling figures of 10/151.

Krutik who took 10 wkts as well as scored 73

Mumbai in their 2nd innings rose to the occasion with Bhupen Lalwani opening the innings and scoring his maiden U23 ton and overall 5th ton of this season enroute a big chase of 373 in the 4th innings. Bhupen teamed up with nightwatchman Krutik Hangewadi who came at no.4 on day 4 with 245 runs needed to win. Mumbai Successfully chased down the target of 373 on the back of their terrific comeback both with the bat as well as with the ball in the 2nd innings while Bhupen continues to stamp his position as a dependable opener.

Parkophene Cricketers  after electing to bat first at PJ Hindu Gymkhana  did felt some jitters with half of the team in the pavilion for 155 runs despite opener  Sandeep kunchikhor’s brilliant 93. It was at that time left-handed Sagar Mishra arrived at no.6 and went on to score a brilliant 103 off 114 balls. The all-rounder batted with the lower order smashing 4 fours and 5 sixes while toiling hard between the wickets to help his team reach a defendable total.

In reply, Victory CC were all out for 167 runs with Sagar who was the star attraction with the bat coming good with the ball too. Sagar took 6 wkts with his left arm spin for 47 runs as he almost single handedly led Parkophene Cricketrs to a big win by 143 runs. Pardeep Sahu also gave good support chipping in with 4 wkts.

Sagar has finished his cooling period after getting NOC from Railways and is now eligible to serve the Mumbai team too. The first class cricketer surely signaled his arrival in a grand fashion!

Karnatak SA after being made to bat first at DY’s home ground batted really well posting a total of 303/10 in 70 overs with the help of Akash Parkar’s solid 92 at no.4. Medium Fast Bowler Prashant Bhoir was spot on taking 4/74 being the pick of the bowlers for DY Patil.

Prashant Bhoir

DY Patil though had a shaky start to the chase but Shubham Ranjane coming at no.4 ensured that the chase was taken care of. Shubham smashed a sparkling 121* (119 balls) hitting 11 fours and 5 sixes. Shubham seems to be back to what he does best as he took on the bowlers with confidence while also stitching a 156 run stand with Yogesh Takawale who scored an 84 ball 70 at no.5 as he once again came to the rescue.

DY Patil on the back of Shubham’s ton and a great partnership with Yogesh won the match with commanding ease by 5 wkts and 11.2 overs to spare.

After garnering tremendous success in the first season of Mumbai ka accurate bowler, NATARAJ PENS is all set to host its second season with cricketgraph. The first season witnessed participation from around 1000 plus students across various schools & colleges in Mumbai.

Mumbai’s favourite pen brand NATARAJ PENs is back with a bang to woo the cricketers of Mumbai in the coming days. There is seldom any need to introduce this brand as it is already become a household name. Just like food, clothing, and shelter are the basic necessities of a common man, NATARAJ PENS are the basic necessities of school-goers and adults alike. Just like to win a war you need weapons, to win a cricket match, a batsman needs a bat, whereas a bowler needs a ball. On similar lines, the importance of NATARAJ PENS during the school and college days cannot be emphasized more.

In the island city that has produced batting legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar, NATARAJ PENS has come up with a novel idea in the form of “Mumbai ka Accurate Bowler” competition to hunt for an accurate bowler. It is a well-designed competition consisting of three rounds.

In the first round, all the three stumps will be visible to the bowlers, who will be required to hit them as many times as possible out of the three chances given to them. In the second round again, the bowlers will have three attempts to have a shy at the stumps, the only change being, one of the stumps (not the middle stump) will be taken away. This means that in the second round, bowlers will have to aim at two stumps only. In the third, only the middle stump will be standing its ground and the bowlers will have just one stump to aim at.

Like Arjuna who could see just the eye of the bird, the bowlers will be expected to emulate Arjuna’s concentration powers and hit the bull’s eye i.e. the middle stump. One of the most fascinating things about this competition is that the stumps that will be used will be no ordinary sticks but the NATARAJ PENS that will stand tall and face the bowlers.

NATARAJ PENS will be generously showering the winners with loads of goodies which include but are not restricted to trophies, certificate of appreciation, cricket merchandise and much more.

This year the NATARAJ PENS Mumbai ka accurate bowler will witness two chapters in Mumbai.  The recently concluded Women’s World T20 has given a different momentum to women’s cricket. Capturing this, NATARAJ PENS will invite the budding women cricketers to participate in the competition.

So, all the budding cricketers of schools and colleges, pull up your socks to fight for the coveted title of “Mumbai ka accurate bowler” by NATARAJ PENS.

Few winners of the first edition of Mumbai ka Accurate Bowler were: 18 yrs, pranay gavande from kj  Somaiya college- mulund chapter; 9yrs – yatharth yadav from goregaon model public school kandivali  chapter; Omkar chettiar from jhunjhunwala college kharghar chapter; 8yrs – Risabh  kotai from birla school kalyan chapter; 14 yrs Anmol sawant  from  Rainbow international school – kalyan chapter; 17yrs Pravin upadhyay – Nutan  college kalyan – kandivali chapter; Rohan kataria form father Joseph high school – Bhayander chapter.

They were accurate and hit the bull’s eye all too often than their counterparts. It would be exciting to find out this season’s winners from schools & colleges across Mumbai.

The exact dates and venues will be shared soon on cricketgraph website & social media handles.

Ajish’s 98 & Wasim’s 5-for help IndiaFirst Life Insurance win convincingly against Tata in the Jolly Friends T20 Tournament 2018
————————-
Skipper & Opening Batsman Ajish Abdul Rehman’s majestic 98 off 60 Balls and Left Arm Spinner Waseem Sayyed’s mesmerising Spell of 4-3-4-5 combined to provide IndiaFirst Life Insurance its second victory in as many Matches in the widely known Jolly Friends Sports Club T20 Cricket Tournament 2018 at Dadar Parsi Zoroastrian (DPZ) Pitch, Matunga Gymkhana on the 24th of November. The Match was against Tata International. 4 Teams each in the 4 Pools would be eyeing to top the Group in order to qualify for the Semi-finals.

Winning the Toss and electing to Bat on what looked like an underprepared Pitch, Captain Ajish started aggressively to put on 57 Runs in the first 6 Overs in an Opening partnership of 66 in 8.2 Overs with his deputy Ramana Meesala (25 off 23 Balls). But a tight Bowling Spell from Left Arm Slow Bowler Swapnil (4-0-20-2) and Medium Pacer Ramdas (4-0-23-2) saw a slight collapse of the Middle Order. Especially, the innocuous looking Bowling of Swapnil showed how an immaculate line & length combined with subtle movement in the air and off the Pitch could trouble the best of Batsmen.

Ajish kept going at the other end though, when during the period of 9.2 Overs 92 Runs were scored, with the other four Batsmen adding 18 Runs off 26 Balls. Rupen Chaurasiya gave a good stand with some quick running between the Wickets. Ajish’s Sixes just got getting bigger, with the first one, a short-arm Pull off Medium Pacer Dhaval barely touching the shortest Square Leg Boundary, the next, a slog Sweep against Off-spinner Vishal going out of the ground, and the last one, a monstrous hit off Medium Pacer Praveen K crashing into the 3rd Floor window of the building outside the Ground, still on its way up towards the Mid-wicket Boundary. Eventually, he got out caught at the Third Man Boundary, a mere 2 Runs short of a well-deserving Century, to a chest-high Full-toss that he was playing way ahead of the Batting crease. Both Umpires had a good Match for most part. Kunal Bambardekar played a little cameo at the end of the Innings (14 off 8; 3 4s) to finish IndiaFirst’s Innings at 177/6 in 20 Overs, that on the Pitch seemed to be a good total.
Left-arm Medium Pacer Pushkar Sharma started off proceedings with an exceptional spell of Swing and Seam Bowling with Figures of 3-0-8-0. Medium Pacer Mohsin Jethva proved to be an able ally (3-0-15-1) getting the first breakthrough and then Running Out the other Opener with Wicket-keeper Babli Sharma doing the rest with lightning speed. Mohsin also took a couple of good Catches, one of them after bouncing off Ajish’s hands with three people converging on a high Catch.

Great friends off the Field, Pushkar’s camaraderie with Babli showed on the Ground as well, with the latter standing up to the Wicket and making some great collects off some intelligent Bowling. Later in the Innings, he also stood up to an even quicker Praveen Malik with superb reflexes. That he gave away just 1 Bye in the whole Innings, and combined with Wasim to take one Catch & 2 Stumpings just summed up his performance.

In fact, the introduction of Waseem in the 8th Over really started the collapse for Tata, as he bowled with beautiful Flight & trajectory getting huge turn off the Pitch. The 5 Wicket haul for just 4 Runs, with 3 Maidens in 4 Overs was an enjoyable sight.

Pacer Praveen with his unique long Run-up during which he seems to detail off the track (good enough to be Bowling on the adjacent Pitch), before getting back on line, generated a few from giggles from the Players, Umpires and the few spectators. A tight Spell of 2-1-4-1 followed that though. Skipper Suyog tried to give some respectability to the Score with 18 off 12 Balls with 3 Fours before Sanket Teli Bowled the last Batsman to finish Tata’s Innings for 58 in 15.5 Overs, this IndiaFirst winning the Match by a huge margin of 119 Runs.

Wasim got the Man of the Match Award for his dream spell. In a Match that saw 108 Runs from 155 Balls (combined Strike Rate of 69.7; 12 4s) by the other 18 Batsmen, Ajish alone scored 98 in 60 Balls (Strike Rate: 163.3; 12 4s & 3 6s).

IndiaFirst Life Insurance was an unknown entity in the Cricketing arena a year back till Ajish & Ramana took up the responsibility with support shown by the Senior Management at IndiaFirst Life. Especially, their Chief People’s Officer Praveen Menon has been a keen proponent of the idea. Slowly but surely, the Team’s making great strides in the right direction towards repaying the faith shown by the Organisation, with having Employees like Pushkar Sharma, Babli Sharma & Aaraf Shaikh and Akhtar Shaikh who have also been well known talents in the Cricketing circuits in their ranks.

Yogi CC after being made to bat first at Oval Maidan notched up 206 runs on the board with their opener Amar Kulkarni top scoring for his team with a fluent 57 off 75 balls (8 fours). Left-arm spinner Rajas Raut was the pick of the bowlers with bowling figures of 5/75 in 22.3 overs.

New Amrit CC in reply were all out for 73 runs with spinners Rahul Sawant(SLA) and Saurabh Singh(LB) taking 4 wkts each. Yogi CC batted for 2overs in their 2nd innings before the game ended with them winning the match on 1st innings lead.
