During the Zooter International School Dad’s Tournament, OIS Blasters opted to bat first against AIS Spark on Sunday at RCF Sports Club, Chembur, Mumbai. Opening batsman Mayank Agarwal (45 off 45) and middle order batsman Rishi Pilani (42 not out off 33) steered OIS Blasters to a competitive target of 155-3 in 20 overs. Agarwal provided just the right start to OIS, and he looked in good touch, as he middle the ball well and ran nicely between the wickets. One of the interesting things about OIS’s innings was that there was no a single six hit by the batsmen. A total of 11 boundaries were struck, and it shows that OIS did not play any risky shots, rather they preferred to run well between wickets and play their strokes all around the ground. On the other side, not consuming a single six is indeed a great achievement by AIS bowlers. Rajesh Saluja accounted for 2-18 in his three overs and received good support from Niraj Bajaj who grabbed 1-22 in his four overs.

In reply, AIS Spark fell short of 31 runs as OIS Blasters restricted them to 124-8 in 20 overs. AIS did not get off to the best of the starts as they lost their top three batsmen cheaply. AIS was struggling at 3-10 in 2.2 overs, but then Niraj Bajaj (23 off 16) and Aaza Khan (44 off 60) put their heads down and stitched a solid partnership of 55 runs for the fourth wicket. However after the fall of Bajaj and Khan, it was just a matter of time, as the rest of the batsmen fell prey to OIS’s disciplined bowling. Vinod Lund was the wrecker-in-chief as he scalped 3-39 in his four overs. The right arm medium pace bowler bowled quick and in good areas to reap sweet fruits of his hard work. “The wicket was a bit slow. But our bowlers stuck to the job assigned to them. I am happy to have carried from where I had left in the previous match and really glad to strike with a three wicket haul yet again today”, elucidated Vinod.

For his solid batting performance right at the top of the order, Mayank Agarwal was bestowed with the Man of the Match award.

The ecstatic Sagar Ghadigaonkar expressed, “It was a must win game for us and all of us were determined to give our best to have a final go for qualifying from the league stage. The wicket was good to bat on and I enjoyed facing the medium pacers as the ball was coming on the bat easily. I am happy that I could contribute with the ball as well. My favourite victim was Nilesh, which was my first wicket. At mid off Guddu Shah held on to a stunner and helped us to get the early break through”.
