In the first match where VICA won the toss and elected to bat first, it was Bheemkumar Shah taking on the bowlers with a fiery 66 off 48 balls. FSS after electing to bat first at Oval Maidan notched up a total of 158/2 in 20 overs with openers Suryakant Kumar and Onkar giving a flying start. Suryakant scored 53 off 56 balls while Onkar scored 41 (40balls). Rakesh Rao at no.3 remained unbeaten on 32* off 23 balls.
Defending 153 runs vs Nerolac team, Gandharva Shetye came up with a heroic spell and achieved a feat which is very difficult to achieve on daily basis. Gandharva came up with match winning bowling figrures of 6/10 in 3 overs which eventually reduced Nerolac to 127runs all out.
FSS won the match in a commanding manner while Gandharva Shetye was declared ‘man of the match’ for his brilliant 6 wkt haul.
Yuvraj Salvi who is accredited with the ICC (International Cricket Council) level 1 Cricket Coach is not only a fitness trainer with the DY Patil team but he is also in the squad as a player for DY Patil Group B. Yuvraj has also represented Ruparel College team for 6 years where he won the championship in his final year Apart from that, Yuvi has also been one active contributor with Cricketgraph too serving as the Fitness expert and coming up with interesting articles on strength, fitness and nutrition.

Yuvraj seeems to be on a roll as he added a few more feathers in his cap. He was recently made the Mumbai U16 Women’s team strength and conditioning coach while he also got accredited by the ASCA-Australian Strength & Conditioning Association (ASCA) level 1.
For his promising journey so far, Yuvraj said he is thankful to Mr Narsh Churi who is his Cricket coach. Yuvraj qupped- “He really backed my Cricket and also helped me not only become a good cricketer but a great person”

Pace and Swing of Gaurav Bengre’s leads early strikes with new ball ensured batting Collapse of strong batting attack of SKN who were bowled out for meagre 110 in 22nd over in a 40 overs game. Gaurav bagged 3/22 in 7overs as he was not only economical but also spot on with his line and length.

For ESWA, chase was shaky and at one time they were in trouble with 5 wkts down for 67 runs. Thanks to the matured innings of Aakash Sadadekar under pressure who ensured a well fought win in 26th over after the initial batting collapse. Aakash innings was filled with class and strokes all over the ground as he scored a very crucial 34 runs off 52 balls staying solid at one end as ESWA won the match by 5 wkts.

New Hind SC who were 99/5 at one stage in the 1s t innings came back into the match thanks to Parikshit’s and Nehal’s crucial half centuries down the order. Parikshit whose performances often gets dwarfed with the other players hitting centuries has been consistently scoring those crucial 40’s and 50’s this season without getting too much noticed. He has batted well across all the tournaments while young all-rounder Nehal with 51 runs at no.9 and Ravindra Jadhav with 48* changed the script.

DY Patil dominated with the bat in 1st innings with hard hitter Aman scoring 80 runs while the experienced Subramaniam smashing 111 at no.6. Parikshit owned the match with the ball too taking 5/94 in 22.3 overs being the pick of the bowlers while Nehal taking 3 wkts.

New Hind were not in the mood to give up easily as openers Karan and Bhavin gave a flying start of 134 runs. Karan Shah stayed true to his reputation of being a destructive opener batting without taking any pressure hammering the bowlers with a 43 ball 85 which had 5 fours and 7 sixes. Bhavin on the other hand smashed a regal 136* (107 balls, 15 fours 1 six) making it back to back hundreds in two matches and that too in two crucial matches. Bhavin did a lot of hard work running between the wickets and stayed unbeaten till the end while Siddhant smashing a 39 ball 59 at no.5 as New Hind reached a commanding total of 378/6d in 40 overs.

The famed batting line up of DY Patil collapsed like a pack of cards as Parikshit took yet another 6 wkt with his leg breakers. Parikshit simply dazzled in the match coming up with 6/69 in the 2nd innings while Nehal taking 4/69 taking his tally of wickets to 7 in the finals. Vikrant who was the highest scorer in last year’s times shield continues to top the charts this season too with two double centuries and a ton so far. His 215 came in the same match where Swapnil scored 253, both the players had stitched a record 469 run stand for Mumbai Customs which had sealed a win for their team. Vikrant had scored 215 off 298 balls laced with 22 boundaries.

Auti began his Times Shield’18 season in style bringing up a double ton vs Mumbai Port Trust. Vikrant had scored 202 off 310 balls with 26 fours which helped Mumbai Customs win in style.
At no.4-Shrideep Mangela 172*in Purshottam Shield ’18

National CC after electing to bat first were off to a flying start on the back of Jiniv (52 off 70 balls) and Shrideep. Shrideep went on to score a classy 172* off 194 balls. Just fresh from a match winning 95, Shrideep was all grace and calm while also dealt with the loose balls with authority smashing 17 fours and 3 sixes en-route his massive ton.
National Cricket Club won by a margin of 178 runs vs DPC Sports Club on the back of solid batting by Shrideep and a collectively good bowling from the bowlers.
At no.5-Mayuresh Tandel 161 in Purshottam Shield’18

Young Comrade batting first at Karnatak SA ground could have collapsed for under 150 runs had it not been a fighting knock coming from the bat of Mayuresh Tandel. Despite wickets falling from the other hand with a 2ndhighest score of 35 in the team with only 3 batsman managing to score in two digits, Right-handed Mayuresh at no.4 kept his calm and batted fluently as he went on to score a fighting 161 off 176 balls (21 fours) helping his team reach a respectable total of 287 in 67.4 overs. Hundreds are always special but knocks like this when the entire team is in trouble shows the caliber of the batsman.
Even though Karnatak SA chased down the score and won the match by 4 wkts but it was Mayuresh capturing the hearts of many with his valiant ton.

Played at the Matunga Gymkhana between Rizvi School and Gokuldham High School, Rizvi winning the toss opted to bat first bringing up a good 1st innings total of 287/10. Owais Shaikh was the leading scorer for Rizvi hitting an impressive 108 coupled with a good partnerhip with Mayank Teotia who scored 88 runs at a time when the other Rizvi batsman were found struggling against the wily off spin of Arsh Krishnater. Arsh from Gokuldham who had taken 5 wkts in the last weekend too continued to castle the batsman this time taking 6/81 in 22 overs with his impressive off spin while Roneet Thakkur chipped in with 4 wkts.

Gokuldham School in reply were all out for 240 runs where in Roneet Thakkur once again stamped his class scoring more than half of the team runs. Roneet was the highest scorer with a stroke filled 132 as he kept batting despite a collapse from the other end.

Rizvi were 100/5 in their 2nd innings with Roneet taking another 3 wkts before the end of the game’s play where they won the match on 1st innings.
New Hind SC electing to bat first at the PJ Hindu Gymkhana brought up a 1st innings total of 285/10 in 75.2 overs. New Hind SC who were at one point 4/63 and 5/99 got back into the game thanks to a valiant half century by the dependable and consistent Parikshit Valsangkar. Parikshit scored 63 off 82 balls (12 fours) at no.6 while Nehal Katakdhond also came up with a crucial 51 runs down the order at no.10 to revive the hopes for New Hind SC.

DY Patil in reply were off to a decent start with KP continuing his good form scoring a fluent 60 runs opening the innings while hard hitter Aman Khan who came at no.3 scored a sparkly 80 (103 balls) stitching a 137 run stand with Kaustub. The real game changing moment was yet to arrive when Subbu entered the crease scoring a classy 111 (127 balls) at no.7, Experienced campaigner Subramaniam once again delivered when the team needed him the most smashing 8 brutal sixes alongwith 7 boundaries as DY reached a 1st innings total of 343/10. Parikshit on the other hand made it an all-round show bagging 5/94 in 22.1 overs.
New Hind SC in their 2nd innings are 2 down for 156 runs with opener Karan Shah batting on 86* and Day 3 will be one interesting battle to watchout for.
