Mumbai Division Sports Association batting first at the National CC ground managed to score 230/10 with Saeed Shaikh and Hitesh Parmar taking 3 wkts each.
Route Mobile chased down the score with superlative ease where in opener Vishal Dhagaokar scored more than half of the team runs batting till the end to score a fluent 147* off 149 balls. Vishal smashed 17 fours and 6 sixes as he dominated the bowlers upfront while also kept his calm throughout the innings to help Route Mobile cross the target in the most comfortable fashion.
Route Mobile won the match by 6 wkts and it was surely Vishal’s 147*being the highlight performance of the match.
In the pre-quarter match between New Horizon and Mahatma Gandhi School at the NMSA Ground, Vashi, New Horizon winning the toss elected to bat first scoring 179/10 in the 40 over match. Defending a total of 180 in 40 overs, the pressure was definitely more on the team defending than the one who was chasing as it was quite an achievable target. However, fast bowler Vihang Dighe ran through Mahata Gandhi School’s batting line up coming up with sensational bowling figures of 7/18 in 8 overs. Vihan was spot on with the ball maintaining good accuracy while also kept on providing breakthroughs as the opposition were bundled out for 25 runs.
After a commanding win vs Mahatma Gandhi, New Horizon were to lock horns with IES Navi Mumbai School where in New Horizon School after being made to bat first scored 199 runs on the board thanks to a late cameo by Pratham Shah down the order where he chipped in with a crucial 35 ball 55 while Vighnesh Narayan scoring 48 at no.3. IES in reply were bundled out for 150 runs thanks to some really tight bowling where in Aaryank Shetty and Tanuj Hemdev came up with 3 wkts each.
New Horizon School has been playing well consistently under the guidance of their Coach Ajay Bhagat as they will now play the Semis on 2nd of Jan, 2019.
Boom Boom is definitely the right word to describe Aman Khan as once he gets going he can hit those big sixes and score very quickly. Just fresh from a 33 ball 84 in his previous outing, Aman Khan came to the fore again hitting successive half centuries.
DY Patil after being made to bat first on their home ground were all out for 174/10 where in Aman opening the innings once again proved to be destructive. Aman now has 17 sixes in his last 2 innings as he continued his normal way of batting scoring a 35 ball 64 laced with 5 fours and 5 sixes. The rest of the batsman chipped in as DY Patil reached a decent total.
PJ Hindu Gymkhana gave DY Patil a tough fight in their own den and were even looking good to win but eventually fell short of just 3 runs with Anup Revandkar top scoring with 55 runs. The bowlers did an impressive job especially Pravin Tambe(0/28 in 4 overs) and Sairaj Patil (1/30 In 4 overs) coming up with economical spells.
DY Patil won the match by 3 runs and qualify for the Semi-finals of the Padmakar Talim Shield T20 Tournament.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Route Mobile posted a humongous 197-6 in 20 overs against Montage on Sunday at MIG Bandra, during the Automotive Cricket League T20. Coming in at no. 4, Sumit Dhekle scored a glorious 83 off just 36 balls. The south paw’s innings was laced with four boundaries and as many as eight sixes. Striking at an incredible strike rate of 230.56, Sumit took the game away from the opposition. Earlier in the innings, Shreedip Mangela (24), Vishal Dhagaonkar (20), and Saaed Shaikh (40) got off to solid starts, providing the perfect momentum to the batsmen to follow. For Montage, Ramsarkh Yadav and Aman Rajawat were the pick of the bowlers accounting for two dismissals each.
Chasing a daunting total of 198 was always going to be difficult. Montage did not get off to the best of starts as the team lost its top order inside the power play. Bins Neyyoth (25), Samod Kumar (29), and Kranti Kumar (40) tried to consolidate, however, the team could not get pass the target set by Route Mobile. Montage was restricted to 144-9 in 20 overs, falling short by 53 runs. Mohammad Amir and Sachin Gill were fabulous with the ball as both of them scalped three wickets each. Saeed Shaikh and Hitesh Parmar were the other bowlers among the wickets, as they picked up one and two wickets respectively.
Sumit Dhekle was presented with the Man of the Match for his stellar performance with the bat, and his innings proved to be the difference between the two sides. An elated Sumit expressed, “MIG Bandra wicket is always a batting paradise. I enjoyed batting here. I was timing the ball sweetly. After the solid foundation was laid by the top order, I was determined to capitalize on the same and post a challenging total on the board. I am delighted that I could contribute in a winning cause for my team today”.

The clash between Montage and Automotive that was played on Saturday during the Automotive Cricket League T20 proved to be a lopsided affair, as Montage thrashed Automotive by 92 runs. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Montage posted a daunting total of 210-6 in 20 overs. The opening pair of Ajay Singh Janoo (34) and Mohsin Khan (47) stitched a solid partnership of 68 runs in 4.5 overs. This partnership set the tone of the game, and then it was the middle order bat Samod Kumar who capitalized on the start and smashed a power packed 60 off 35 balls. The right hand bat struck four boundaries and two sixes in his blitzkrieg. Automotive’s Manesh Bhogle was the pick of the bowlers accounting for 2-17 in his three overs.
Chasing a Herculean target of 211 was always going to be tough and it seemed as if Automotive succumbed to the pressure. The top order collapsed like a pack of cards and only respite was provided by middle order bat Manesh Bhogle who scored 47 off 22. His innings was laced with eight boundaries and a six. Montage’s bowling clicked as a unit, and all the five bowlers accounted for wickets. Mohit Awasthi, Ramsark Yadav, and Shubham Kamat scalped two victims, whereas Rahul Mishra accounted for one dismissal. Samod Kumar, who showed his heroics with the bat earlier in the match, used his off spin to the best use as he managed to pick up 2-26 in his four overs. Automotive was done and dusted for 118 in 18 overs, losing the match by a whopping sum of 92 runs.
Samod Kumar was awarded as the Man of the Match for his stellar performance with bat and ball. Samod stated, “The wicket was pretty good to bat on. The ball was coming on nicely to the bat and I enjoyed playing today. With the ball, I managed to pitch the ball in right areas, and I am glad that I yielded rich dividends from my effort”.

Played between Don Bosco School and Oxford Public School Kandivali at the Matunga Gymkhana, Don Bosco electing to bowl first were hardly aware about the tsunami they were going to face from the Oxford Batsman.
Oxford Public High School scored a record 557/8dec in 41.3 overs where in openers Aradhya and Mandar simply took on the bowlers with absolute ease and domination. Both the openers not only stitched a 171 run stand but also smashed individual centuries where in Mandar scored 111 off mere 56 balls (20 fours) while Aaradhya Mayekar went on to score a big innings of 180 coming in mere 97 deliveries (26 fours) while the rest of the batsman chipped in with quick knocks down the order to register this year’s highest Giles Shield Total so far.
Don Bosco in reply were all out for 67 runs thanks to their off spinner Aditya Puliparambil who came up with a terrific bowling of 7 wkts for mere 18 runs. Aditya castled the batsman not once but at regular occasions as Oxford Public School won the match by a record margin of 490 runs.
In the match between Swadhyay Bhavan Matunga and Children’s Welfare Center, BAK Swadhyay batting first notched up 392/9 in 45 overs where in Yug Gala grabbed all the attention with his confident batting. Yug smashed a fierce 164 along with Veer Doshi’s 94 which set the tone for their innings. Children’s Welfare Centre were all out for 80 runs with Rehan Gala taking 3/5 being the pick of the bowlers as BAK Swadhyay won the match by 312 runs.
Played at the Oval Maidan, VPM Vidya Mandir batting first notched up a target of 377 in 45 overs thanks to their openers Kaushik Shukla who scored a solid 93 and Abdul Hadi who went on to score a brilliant 114* (109 balls) laced with 12 boundaries. Not only were both the batsman impressive with their shots but they also stitched a big partnership. Fazlani Cricket Academy in reply were all out for 115 runs where in Aryan Pawar bagged 3 wkts while Atharva Lad and Shreyas Samant taking 2 wkts each.

Don Bosco Matunga despite suffering some early blows managed to score 246/6 in 45 overs. Nutan Goel who came at no.4 scored a brilliant 102* taking his team towards a defendable total. Nutan has been in impressive form with his last 3 innings now being 61*, 50 and 102*. Oxford School in return were all out for 110 runs as Don Bosco won by 136 runs.
Played between Roshan CC & Academy and Jolly Gymkhana Ghatkopar at the Fatima School Ground, Roshan CC electing to bat first posted a massive total of 231/2 in 20 overs. Roshan CC openers Swapnil and Haziq Nadeem (61 off 36) gave a flying start as they stitched a match winning 154 run stand in mere 13 overs. Swapnil Chavan opening the innings batted till the very end scoring 120* off 68 deliveries which had 16 fours and 4 sixes. It was an enterprising display of batting where the bowlers were thrashed in every corner of the ground.
Jolly Gymkhana in reply were all out for 74 runs as the bowlers did a brilliant job of bowling tight which helped Roshan CC win the match by 158 runs while Swapnil was declared ‘man of the match’.
In what turned out to be a relatively low scoring encounter between Toyota and Route Mobile on Saturday, in the Automotive Cricket League T20 that was played at MIG Bandra, Mumbai the former had the last laugh. Winning the toss and electing to field first, Route Mobile restricted Toyota to a paltry 122-9 in 20 overs, thanks to Aditya and Saeed, who wrecked havoc scalping three wickets apiece. Hitesh Parmar and Mohammad Amir joined the bowling party accounting for one and two wickets each. For Toyota, the top order collapsed in no time and it was left to the middle order to contribute with the bat. Coming in at no. 4, Aziz Shaikh, a right hand batsman, played a terrific innings of 48 from 42 balls. His innings was well constructed under pressure and his knock seemed like a light after the tunnel. Aamir Bhorania (26) and Chinmay Madaye (17 not out) helped Toyota to cross the 120-run mark.
After a solid performance with the ball, Route Mobile was expected to chase the modest total rather easily. However, Toyota came back strong with the ball and bundled out Route Mobile for 118 in 19.4 overs, winning the game marginally by four runs. Jaishal Wadiyal was the pick of the bowlers for Toyota as he picked up 4-17 in his four overs. Akram Khan and Chinmay Madaye accounted for two victims, whereas Rahil Shaikh had one dismissal to his name. A star with the bat, Aziz Shaikh, a right arm off spinner rolled his arm over to pick up the ultimate wicket of the match, thus helping his team clinch a nail biting victory.
Aziz Shaikh was bestowed with the Man of the Match award for his splendid all-round performance. Aziz averred, “Route Mobile is a good team and I am happy that I could perform against a strong side. After the top order faltered, it was important for me to holding the team batting together. I was determined to play a big knock for my side. With the ball, I was given the responsibility of bowling the final over. The opposition needed 6 off 6. It was a crunch situation and I held on to my nerves and ultimately delivered for team picking up the last wicket”.

Muslim United after being made to bat first at DY Patil could not make a huge impact getting bundled out for 127/10 in 20 overs. Pratap Kavdi scored a valiant 51* but Farhan Kazi’s spin proved too heavy for the batsman. Farhan was the pick of the bowlers coming up with envious bowling figures of 4/14 in 4 overs.
Fort Vijay while chasing made merry of the small total as Pankaj Jaiswal was in the mood to finish off things quickly. Pankaj coming at no.3 scored a swashbuckling 87* off 48 balls which had 8 biggies and 6 boundaries as Fort Vijay won the match by 7 wkts with as many as 6.2 overs to spare.
