Tournaments like these are always a great platform to unearth the hidden cricketing talents and one such boy who is impressing one and all with his batting has been Aniket Singh from Don Bosco Cricket Academy.
In the match vs Young National CC, Don Bosco School electing to bat first at Cross Maidan notched up 319/3 in 35 overs. Aniket opening the innings went on to score a swashbuckling 164* batting till the end facing mere 114 balls which had 26 fours and 2 sixes. Aniket also stitched a brilliant 196 run stand with Naman Jawhar for 3rd wicket who also scored an impressive 103 runs off 74 balls. Young National CC in reply managed to score only 162/6 failing to keep up with the run rate as Don Bosco clinched a big win by 157 runs.
In the 4th match vs Goregaon Sports Club, Don Bosco batting first managed to score 273/6 in 35 overs with opener Aniket once again taking his team towards a healthy total. Aniket this time took only 102 deliveries to score his 140 runs which had 24 boundaries in it. Thanks to some really tight bowling by the Don Bosco bowlers, GSC were bundled out for 83 runs handing over a 190 run win to the Don Bosco team.
Mumbai: Vedant Mayekar was in great rhythm as he bowled a match-winning spell of 4 for 18 in five overs as Achievers Cricket Academy secured a 10-run win over Vasant Vihar High School in the Reliance Health Insurance Sanjeevani Cricket Academy U-13 T-21 Cricket tournament played at the Saffire ground in Bhakti Park, Wadala. Electing to bat first, Achievers CA scored 132 for 4 as their opener Krish Kodal struck a fine 66 in 63 balls and was ably supported by Sanskar Rao who remained unbeaten on a steady 27 in 37 balls.
In response, Vasant Vihar High School were restricted to 122 for six in their quota of 21 overs. Soham Keer and Omkar Lokhande tried their best with knocks of 33 and 26 respectively, but Vedant Mayekar kept picking wickets at regular intervals that helped Achievers CA register a victory and earn crucial points.

Young Comrade CC after being made to bat first at Dadkar Maidan scored an impressive total of 384/10 in 69.5 overs where in it had 4 batsman scoring crucial half centuries. Mayuresh Tandel (79runs) at no.4 and left-handed Viraj Krishna (57runs) at no.6 stabilized the innings while it was their lower order consisting of skipper Shamit Shetty at no.9 and Vaibhav Javkar at no.8 stitching a match winning 114 run stand. Shamit scored a handy 57 runs while Vaibhav scored a solid looking 74 helping their team reach a big total.
Sind SC chasing 385 in 90 overs must have felt the pressure to keep up with the run rate as they were all out for 173 runs in 43.5 overs. Off-spinner Sarfaraz Shaikh was bang on coming to the rescue with a brilliant bowling spell taking care of the bowling department with bowling figures of 6/59 in 12.5 overs.
Young Comrade CC won the match by 211 runs and it was indeed a collective team performance by Shamit and his boys.
Warrior Sharks winning the toss opted to bat first at the Warriors Cricket Ground amassing a healthy total of 183/4 in 20 overs. Prashant Kadam opening the innings went on to score a swashbuckling 97 missing out on a deserving ton. Prashant smashed 11 fours and 3 sixes at facing mere 53 balls setting the tone for his team’s innings. Vinay Mehra’s aggressive cameo of 19 balls 41 at no.4 also proved to be quite handy.
Jio Blue who lost top 3 wickets quite early did have some hopes renewed with a fighting 61 by Mohsin Jio but he lacked support from the other end as Jio fell short of 45 runs managing to score 133/6 in their stipulated 20 overs.
Zooter International School Dad’s Tournament saw a close game between JNS Jaguars and JNS Young Veterans on February 19 when the two sides faced off in the Championship semi-final at Air India Sports Club, Mumbai. Winning the toss and electing to field first, JNS Jaguars restricted JNS Young Veterans to 159-6 in 20 overs, thanks to Jairaj Bisht’s bowling heroics. Bisht was the pick of the bowlers for JNS Jaguars accounting for 3-17 in four overs. Pratik Chitalia scalped one wicket in the lone over that he bowled. Four of the JNS Young Veterans’ batsmen got off to starts, however failed to play a big knock. The opening pair of Aneesh Vijekar (29) and Siddharth Chavda (35) looked good, and so did Ravi B (31 not out) and Jaymin Mehta (33) in the middle order.
Though 160 did not look all that daunting, but the pressure of a semi-final can get the better of any team. However JNS Jaguars held their nerves and chased down the target in 19.1 overs, winning the match by four wickets. Despite getting off to one of the most horrendous starts, JNS Jaguars were determined to clinch the semi-final. The team lost the opening pair inside three overs. Jeetinder Diwan (21) and Shantanu Agasti (12) tried to consolidate but succumbed against the run of play. Coming in at no.5, Hemal Chitalia shouldered the responsibility well and was determined to see his side home. Hemal (42 off 31) batted well with Rohit Saraf (35) to ease the nerves in the dressing room. For JNS Young Veterans, Jaymin Mehta and Ravi B picked up two wickets apiece.
JNS Jaguars’ Hemal Chitalia bagged the Man of the Match for his match winning knock under pressure. The right handed batsman stated, “When I came in to bat, the pressure was enormous. The wickets were falling and the run rate was creeping up. It was necessary for me to provide solidity in the middle. I took my time to get my eye in and once I was settled at the crease there was no looking back. It was a do or die game. I am happy that our team could sail through”.

Zooter International School Dad’s Tournament witnessed a high scoring encounter on February 19 when Camp Rangers and Mount Litera locked horns against each other during the Challenger semi-final that was played at Air India Sports Club, Mumbai. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Camp Rangers posted a mammoth 240-4 in 20 overs, courtesy Aditya Maheshwari’s rollicking performance right at the top of the order. The opening batsman belted the Mount Litera bowlers all around the park as he smashed a delightful 101 off 56. Aditya’s blitzkrieg comprised of 14 boundaries and two sixes. Giving him support were Harshvardhan Roongta (48) and Anish Bhansli (48 not out). For Mount Litera, Shreepad Khedekar picked up 2-48 in his four overs with Mohamed Saleem Shaikh and Alok Shah chipping in with a solitary wicket.
Chasing a daunting total of 241 was never going to be easy. Mount Litera kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Opening bat Alok Shah top scored with 41 and found able allies in Neil Dhankani (38) and Mohamed Saleem Shaikh (22). For Camp Rangers, it was Amish Dani who wrecked havoc with his brilliant bowling performance as he went on to scalp 5-19 in 2.3 overs. Mount Litera’s innings was tamed at 152-9 in 18.3 overs, thus losing the match by 88 runs.
The right handed batsman Aditya Maheshwari was awarded as the Man of the Match for his sublime innings of 101 that came off just 56 balls. Aditya averred, “Being the semi-final, it was important for us to put up a big score on the board. I was determined to play a big knock for my side and I am delighted that the result was in our favour. The powerplay overs were pretty good to bat on. However as the match progressed the wicket became slower making it difficult for the batsmen to follow. Batting with Harsh is always a pleasure and I am elated that our team has made it to the finals”.

Hosts SCA start with an easy win
Mumbai: Hosts Sanjeevani Cricket Academy (SCA) continued their fine run in the under-13 circuit by securing a comfortable 60-run win over Achievers Cricket Academy in their first round match of the Reliance Health Insurance Sanjeevani Cricket Academy U-13 T-21 Cricket tournament played at the Saffire ground in Bhakti Park, Wadala. Electing to bat first, SCA amassed 176/2 as Omkar Patankar (66 off 64) and Nihar Magre (51 off 40) scored match-winning half-centuries. Their partnership helped SCA go past the 175-run mark in the 21st over.
In reply, Achievers CA were bowled out for 116 in 19.4 overs as Agastya Bangera, Agastya Bedi and Aakash Salim picked up two wickets each. Achievers’ openers Krishna Kodal and Atharva Patil started well, but could not continue their partnership that led to the downfall of their team.

In the other match of the day, Nerul Gymkhana, riding on Shourya Desai’s blistering knock of 76 in just 36 balls and a defiant unbeaten 29 from Shyam Tiwari easily beat Akhilesh Cricket Academy in their first round clash. Nerul Gymkhana chased the target of 127 in 12.4 overs with eight wickets in hand to register a convincing victory.

Contrasting wins for Boys CC and Pro World Talent
Mumbai: Boys Cricket Club registered a narrow four-wicket win against Titan Cricket Club, while Pro World Talent comfortably beat St. Arnold School by 54 runs on the fifth day of the Reliance Health Insurance Sanjeevani Cricket Academy U-13 T-21 Cricket tournament played at the Saffire Ground in Bhakti Park, Wadala. Steady knocks from Nishant Bagatkar (22 off 37), Mayuresh Kulayve (24 off 24) and an unbeaten 20 from Avaneesh Palav helped Titan CC reach 97 for 7 in their quota of 21 overs. Boys CC’s openers, Rohan Karandikar (25 off 35) and Ayush Patil (43 off 49) laid a solid foundation, but they lost some quick wickets in the middle only to recover later and secure a close win in 19.3 overs with four wickets in hand. For Titan CC, Hrishikesh Chavan bowled well picking up 3 for 10 in his four overs.

In the other match of the day, the in-form Tanish Shetty scored an attacking 68 in 54 balls as Pro World Talent put up 142 for 5 against St. Arnold School. In reply, St. Arnold were restricted to 88 for 9 in 21 overs as Nikash Nerulkar bowled a match-winning spell, taking four wickets and conceding just six runs in his five overs that included a maiden. Viraj Dave top scored for St. Arnold with a patient knock of 26 in 34 balls.

Regal CC after being made to bat first at the MIG Cricket Club Ground scored 299/10 in 84.3 overs. Regal CC who were struggling at 4/41 at one point managed to get back into the game with the help of Om Jadhav’s brilliant 148 runs. Om coming at no.4 faced 218 balls smashing 21 fours and a six as he helped Regal CC reached a respectable total. From the bowlers, Harsh Tanna and Yashraj Malap were the pick of the bowlers taking 4 wkts each.
Parel SC were off to a good start with the openers Varun lavande and Srujan Athawale giving good starts. However, it was their middle order consisting of Pranay Pawar at no.6 and Gaurish Jadhav at no.8 coming up with match winning half centuries which also included a 121 run stand between them. Pranay scored a crucial 86* (116 balls) while Gaurish at no.8 scored 57 off 99 balls which changed the script of the game as Parel SC went on to win the match by 3 wkts in 63 overs.
PJ Hindu Gymkhana opting to bat first at DY Patil Nerul managed to score 257/10 in 62.3 overs. Even though a few batsmen chipped in with 40’s but it was Neelkanth Parab top scoring with 74 runs in 105 balls (6 fours, 2 sixes). From the bowlers, Abdulahiqbal Sayyed was the pick of the bowlers coming up with an impressive spell of 4/53 in 15.3 overs.
DY Patil Sports Academy despite losing two early wickets in the first 4 overs got back into the game with the help of their batting mainstay Subramaniam Dorasawamy. The experienced Subbu opening the innings anchored the chase with a brilliant 105*off 156 balls (13 fours). The rest of the batsman supported with 20’s and 30’s as DY Patil S.A won the match by 4 wkts despite a few early hiccups.
Shivaji Park Gymkhana electing to bat first at Shivaji Park Dadar did lose some early wickets but Shams Mulani who came at no.5 ressurected the innings back for his team going on to score a match winning 138 runs off 183 balls. Left-handed Shams smashed 17 fours & a six proving his mettle taking the team total to a defendable 337/10 in 88.2 overs. Left-arm spinner Yash Chavan with 6/87 in 28.2 overs was the pick of the bowlers bowling an impressive spell.
Dadar Union in reply were bundled out for 123 runs thanks to an envious bowling spell by Shams Mulani. The all-rounder bamboozled the batsman with his left arm spin as he went on to take 8/39 in 14.2 overs. Shams Mulani who recently got selected for India A certainly proved his immense talent both with the bat as well as with the ball as he single handedly steered Shivaji Park Gymhana to a massive win by 214 runs.
