Kurla SC after being made to bat first at the New Hind SC Maidan notched up a massive total of 265/5 in 20 overs. Openers Shubham (52) and Ashay gave a flying start of 118 runs in just 50 balls which set the tone for their team’s innings.
What’s more opener Ashay converted his fifty into a big t20 hundred going on to score an impressive 138 off mere 67 balls laced with 17 fours and 7 sixes.
Daiwandya Sports Club in reply were bundled out for mere 38 runs thanks to a magical spell by Rupesh Kondalkar. Left arm spinner Rupesh bagged a stunning 6 wkts conceding mere 12 runs in his spell of 4 overs as he helped his team win by a massive margin of 237 runs.
Mumbai: Dilip Vengsarkar Cricket Academy, Oval will clash against hosts Sanjeevani Cricket Academy (SCA) in the final of the Reliance Health Insurance Sanjeevani Cricket Academy U-13 T-21 Cricket tournament played at the Saffire ground in Bhakti Park, Wadala. In the first semi-final, the ‘B’ team of SCA, riding on knocks from their opening batsmen Shreyansh Rai (26 off 39) and Rahil Mehta (25 off 35) scored 123 for 8. For Dilip Vengsarkar CA, Krish Kanawade bowled well, picking up three wickets. Kanawade then starred with the bat as well, scoring a fluent 56 off 44 balls as his team chased the target with four wickets in hand and three balls to spare to enter the final.
SCA dominated the other semi-final as they outplayed Pravin Tambe Cricket Academy by 128 runs. SCA’s in-form batsman, Hrishikesh Gore scored an attacking unbeaten 97 in 65 balls that was the highlight of the penultimate day. Gore was well supported by Sanskar Panaskar and Nihar Magre who chipped in with identical scores of 31 as SCA amassed 191 for 3. Pravin Tambe CA crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for just 63 in 15.5 overs. None of their batsmen could even reach a two-digit score. Krish Shah and Shourish Deshpande were in great rhythm as they picked up three wickets each to help SCA sail into the final.
The final will be played at the Saffire ground in Bhakti Park, Wadala on Saturday, 2nd March, 2019.

The Championship Final of Zooter International School Dad’s Tournament was played between JNS Jaguars and Fazlani United at DY Patil Cricket Ground, Pune, on February 24. It was a lopsided affair between the two sides JNS Jaguars clinically defeated Fazlani United by seven wickets.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Fazlani United was dwindled down to a paltry 120-5 in 20 overs. Coming in at no. 4, Samad Motorwala was the solitary warrior for Fazlani United as he scored an unbeaten 63 off 52, hitting five boundaries and a six. Motorwala failed to find an able ally apart from Roopesh Kandke (24). With the ball, JNS Jaguars were fantastic, as they did not allow Fazlani United to run away with the game. Ashish Shiroya with figures of 2-22 in his four overs was the best bowler for JNS Jaguars. Keyur Shah grabbed 1-17 in his four.
In reply, JNS Jaguars looked in no doubt whatsoever as they piled up 122-3 in mere 13.1 overs, convincingly winning the final by seven wickets. The opening pair of Bakhtiyaar Irani (42 off 25) and Atul Ganeriwal (32 off 26) fired on all cylinders as they stitched a solid partnership of 73 in just 8.2 overs. After the fall of this pair, Shantanu Agasti (18 not out) and Hemal Chitalia (19 not out) ensured that they saw their side home. For Fazlani United it was Shams Lakhani who made a mark with the ball as he accounted for 2-20 in his three overs.
Bakhtiyaar Irani was presented with the Man of the Match award for his gritty knock right at the top of the order.

The Challenger Final of Zooter International School Dad’s Tournament was played between Camp Rangers and BD Smashers on February 24 at DY Patil Cricket Ground, Pune. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Camp Rangers posted a challenging score of 183-4 in 20 overs, thanks to twin half centuries from Amish Dani and Anish Bhansali. The opening pair of Kaushal Parikh (31 off 17) and Amish Dani (55 off 47) provided a flamboyant start to Camp Rangers, which was matched well by Anish Bhansali (58 off 37). Bhansali looked in sublime form as he found gaps regularly, ran between the wickets, and dominated the BD Smashers bowling. Out of the four wickets, two were run outs, and the other two were claimed by Shamit Desai and Karan Rastogi respectively.
Chasing a mammoth 184 in a final is never easy. BD smashers did not get off to the best of starts as the team lost its first wicket in the very first over. Opening batsman Varun Godha top scored with 32 (26), with Niraj Parikh (23) being the only other batsman to score more than 20 runs. BD Smashers could only manage 163-7 in 20 overs, thus falling short of 20 runs. Camp Rangers were disciplined with the ball, not allowing BD Smashers to come back in the game. Sushil Sanghvi and Amish Dani were the pick of the bowlers as they scalped two wickets apiece. Having an outstanding day with both, bat and ball, Amish Dani was deservingly awarded as the Man of the Match.

Fort Vijay opting to bat first at Cross Maidan were bundled out for 126 runs thanks to a match winning bowling spell by Manish Rao. Manish Rao with his medium pacers ran through the opposition’s batting line up bagging a stunning 7 wkts for 27 runs in 13 overs with 4 maidens. Manish was spot on with the ball giving the batsman a hard time. The only shining spot in Fort Vijay’s team was the lonely fight given by left handed Pratik Prabhu scoring 85 runs at no.4 out of his team total of 126 runs.
Parsee Gymkhana chased down the score with ease with opener Vinayak Mane scoring an unbeaten 58* off 82 balls.
Parsee Gymkhana won the match by 8 wkts while it was surely Manish grabbing the limelight. For the uninitiated, Manish Rao has played for Mumbai in the U22s and U25. He has also represented Mumbai in the Ranji trophy for the Season 13-14
Manish later on shifted to railways because of the Central Railway job where he has played for railways in the Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Since the last two years, he has been playing for railways team in the Ranji Trophy with an excellent debut against Hyderabad scoring 35* and 85* in the second innings alongwith 3 wickets in the first innings. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy he bagged 8 wickets and 111 runs this season. Manish conveys thanks to RNS Larsons for proving excellent stuffs to perform better.
Mumbai: Sanjeevani Cricket Academy’s (SCA) Hrishikesh Gore and SCA ‘B’ team’s Rajveer Gaitonde were the star performers in the wins for their respective sides. In the first match, Hrishikesh struck an attacking unbeaten 27 in 22 balls and then effected three run-outs and took a catch on the boundary as the hosts secured a 39-run win over Vasant Vihar High School in the Reliance Health Insurance Sanjeevani Cricket Academy U-13 T-21 Cricket tournament played at the Saffire ground in Bhakti Park, Wadala. Electing to bat first, SCA scored 139 for 3 as Piyush Pandey (31 off 51) and Sanskar Panaskar (33 off 32) stitched together a solid partnership for the second wicket. Aditya Baliwada then finished with a quickfire unbeaten 31 in just 17 balls as SCA put up a competitive score on the board.
Chasing a stiff target, Vasant Vihar HS could score only 100 for 9 in their quota of 21 overs as the SCA bowlers, led by Shourish Deshpandey (3 for 20) restricted the run flow. Vasant Vihar’s opener Shubham Mhatre scored a patient 36 in 42 balls, but didn’t get much support from the other end as his team fell short of the target.

In the other match of the day, SCA ‘B’ defeated Akhilesh Cricket Academy by 42 runs to complete a perfect day for the hosts. Electing to bat first, SCA ‘B’ were bowled out for 133 in 20.5 overs as ‘extras’ with a total of 42 were the highest scorer for the team. In response, Akhilesh CA could score only 91 for the loss of seven wickets in their quota of 21 overs. The batsmen had no clue to Rajveer Gaitonde’s bowling as he ran through their batting line-up with a spell of five overs, three maidens, two runs and five wickets. For Akhilesh CA, opener Prem Parikh was the lone contributor with a steady knock of 38 in 48 balls.

Many awardees from the 1st Edition are today playing in IPL and National team and we certainly wish and hope the 2nd Edition will also have many faces which will be making waves in 2020. As he said on the stage while accepting the award- “I have really worked hard to reach the stage at which I am playing and there is certainly no short cut for success”& we can’t agree more to accept that Bhupen has toiled hard to reach where he has. Bhupen amassed 1040 runs in 19 Innings including 7 tons in last 4 months to become one of the best Mumbai batsman at present in the U23 Category. He also played for Mumbai university in All India Inter University Level while he was the top scorer in the “Under-23 Shalini Bhalekar Trophy 2018-2019” with 432 runs at an envious batting average & a best score of 191.
In the U23 COL. C.K. NAYUDU TROPHY 2018-2019 (State Level Tournament) he scored a total of 608 runs in 9 Matches (14 innings) which had 3 tons with a best score of 167. Bhupen was in top 6 in BCCI’s Ranking of highest centuries List in U23 Players in India and Top (highest) from the Mumbai Team. Young Comrade CC after electing to bat first on DY Patil, Nerul managed to score 350/10 in 76.2 overs. Mayuresh Tandel who has 298 runs in 3 innings once again proved to be the rescueman for his team. Mayuresh who had scored 161 in Purshottam Shield for his team this season when no batsman was able to score more than 40 once again repeated such an innings top scoring with 155 in 172 balls at no.4. Mayuresh smashed 15 fours and 3 sixes at a healthy strike rate while Viraj Krishna (53) brought his 2nd back to back half century at no.6.
DY Patil with 2/18 at one point had given the positive momentum to the opposite team but the rock solid Subbu ensured he guided his team towards a sparkling win. Just fresh from a hundred last week in the same tournament, Subramaniam Doraswamy once again played a match winning knock of 160*off 183 balls (25 fours). Subbu had a partnership of 134 runs with Shashank Singh (77 runs) for the 3rd wicket and a unbeaten 169* run stand with Yogesh Pawar (81*) for the 6th wicket as DY Patil crossed the victory line in 66.1 overs entering the semi-finals of the tournament.
