Borivali CC took on Mandvi Muslim SC in the pre-quarter of the Summer Shield tournament. As Borivali CC padded up first, opener Sushant Kadam started off the innings with 65 runs to his name off 63 balls forming a partnership alongside Hanumant Matkar who scored a half-century of his own. But the power punch came from Rakesh Naik down the order. Coming at 4 number, Naik hammered an unbeaten 127 off just 92 balls. His innings comprised off 13 fours and 4 sixes, taking his team’s total to 334 in 45 overs. Mandvi Muslim managed to claim just 4 wickets in the first innings.

Mandvi Muslim set out to chase the mammoth target but found themselves reeling at 59 for 7. Sanskar Shirgaonkar batted his heart out by facing 127 balls and scoring 64 but unfortunately that wasn’t enough. Borivali CC restricted Mandvi Muslim for just 146 in 45 overs. Sandeep Yadav bowled an exceptional spell of 5/19 in 9 overs, helping his team win comfortably.

Paramount CC won the Bombay Junior Tournament after super spells from Kunal Gawande and Bhavik Patel

Man of the match off spinner Kunal Gawand’s fine bowling 4 for 29 ably assisted by Skipper Bhavik Patel 4 for 34 helped Paramount cc to beat Amar cc by 4 wickets at Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana and win the Mumbai Junior tournament conducted by Mumbai Cricket Association. Amar cc skittled out for mere 125 runs and paramount cc achieved the target with 4 wickets in hand.

It is a wonderful season( 2022 -23)so far for Coach Sangam Lad as His team Our Own cc – claimed the knockout kanga championship & President cup earlier & With this Mumbai junior championship, he celebrates Hat-trick. This is overall 39th title in Mumbai cricket for Sangam Lad.

The final match of RSCA Tournament was played between Rajhans Sports Cricket Academy and S.P. Group Cricket Academy wherein the latter won the match. As the Rajhans Sports Academy came to bat, they were able to score 151 runs at the loss of all their wickets in 30 overs. Sunny Jaiswal scored 41 runs in 43 balls with 6 boundaries and 1 maximum! JP Shukla and Manish Laxman Waghmare of S.P. Cricket Academy took 3 and 2 wickets each giving away only 25 and 34 runs respectively.

As their team came to bat out, they scored 154 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. The target achieving was facilitated by Manish Laxman Waghmare’s 40 runs who played with a strike rate of 89. Sunny Jaiswal of the Rajhans Sports Academy took 3 wickets giving only 33 runs in 6 overs. Ultimately SP Group Cricket Academy sealed the game by 7 wickets in an enticing competition.

Shree Sports Cricket Academy had an outstanding outing in the ongoing Guzder League with two back-to-back dominant wins against table toppers. In the first game, SSCA sealed the game in a low-scoring thriller as they cleaned up the opposition in just 77 with 151 to defend on board, winning by 74 runs. Southpaw Gaurish Jadhav hammered 73 off just 58 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes.

After displaying his batting prowess, Jadhav stumped with opposition batsman as he bowled an exceptional spell of 3/9 in 5 overs. Yash Singh kept things tight in a 10-over spell with a 2.8 rpo economy. Siddhant Singh claimed 3 wickets as well.

In a consecutive game, Shree Sports displayed another dominant performance by bowling out MSEB CC for an embarrassing 32 under just 9 overs, 6 of the batsmen registering ducks. Yash Singh, Siddhant Singh and Gaurish Jadhav claimed 3 wickets each. The Shree Sports batsmen reciprocated the same aggression by chasing the game in just 15 balls.

Shree Sports Cricket Academy is headed by ex-Vidarbha Ranji Trophy player Sameer Khare. Khare offers a residential facility in Nagpur with a provision for night matches under flood lights. With a fresh name in the Vidarbha Cricket Association, Shree Sports Cricket Academy has made their mark in the locality.

In the recently concluded inaugural President Cup, Akash Anand displayed his immaculate skills with the bat as he scored 226 runs in just 5 games. With an average of 75 in the T20 competition, Anand helped his team seal the championship . In the first two games, Anand hammered 52* and 55 respectively as he took his team to the Quarter Finals of the tournament.

Despite a subpar outing in the quarters. Akash was determined to do well in the semis. In the semis, the batsman scored 63 off just 37 balls. After that, it was just a cake walk for him in the finals as he scored an unbeaten 49 in just 29. Akash bagged the best batsman ball and CCI cliched the trophy.

Friendship Trophy is the signature annual T20 leather ball cricket tournament of the club and is being organised since 2015. Known for it’s meticulous organisation at the lush green solo ground of Asahi Float Glass, Taloja and the competitive matches played in best of cricketing spirit, amateur cricketing clubs from Dombivli, Kalyan, Thane and Mumbai have been participating in this sporting event since it’s inception.

Friendship Trophy 2023, which kicks off on March 25th is a white ball tournament this year and has following 10 teams participating –

DTDC Express Ltd won convincingly against Teleperformance DIBS in the RCF T20 Tournament. After batting first, DTDC amassed a massive total of 207 in 20 overs losing just 4 wickets only. The openers Japjeet Randhawa and Anish Chaudhery put up a dominant opening stand. Japjeet went on to score 63 off just 34 balls as Anish hammered a blistering 90 in 55 balls. Together they formed an opening partnership of 141 as Japjeet was the first to fall. Apart from them, southpaw Omkar Ghule joined the party and chipped in a quick-fire 35 to help his team pass the 200-run mark. From Teleperformance, Shashank Mistry was able to claim 2 wickets.

Man of the Match: Anish Chaudhary

With a massive total to chase down, Teleperformance set out to chase but lost their openers in quick succession. A small partnership brewed between Chabria and Usmani but DTDC managed to dismiss batsmen at regular intervals. Aayush Raghuvanshi was able to score 32 at the back end of the innings but it wasn’t enough as DTDC defended the target successfully with 75 runs in hand.

Omkar Ghule: Man of the Series

Aniket Singh and Omkar Ghule managed to claim 3 wickets a piece as the former bowled at an exceptional economy rate of just 3 r.p.o in his 3-over spell. A cumulative bowling performance saw them defend the total and emerge as champions.

Ankit Singh: Best Bowler

Anish Chaudhary was named as the Man of the Finals but he wasn’t the only DTDC player to go away with a trophy that evening. Ankit Singh was awarded the Best Bowler of the tournament as Maxwell Swaminathan was crowned as the Best Fielder for his safe pair of hands. The Man of the Series was given to Omkar Ghule for his monumental all-round performances throughout the tournament. Despite just ending up as runners up of the tournament, Teleperformance’s Raunak Sharma was awarded the Best Batsman of the tournament.

DTDC were coached by Coach Kishor Waghela who guided and managed the team to the best of their abilities. Apart from the champion corporate team, Waghela also takes care of the Advance CricketGraph Academy located at Cross Maidan in Mumbai. Coach Waghela’s academy falls under the CricketGraph Academy Partnership Program where Cricketgraph helps existing academies develop.

Mumbai, March 19: Bohra Cricket Club proved their stunning victory against defending champions Parsee Gymkhana in the first round was no flash in the pan. Powered by the aggressive half-century knocks from openers Rugved More unbeaten 87 runs, and Japjeet Randhawa 57 runs and Omkesh Kamath’s unbeaten 52 runs, Bohra CC continued with their winning momentum as they defeated P.J. Hindu Gymkhana by 55-runs in a quarter-final match of the 73rd Nawab Salar Jung Invitation T20 Cricket Tournament, organised by the Islam Gymkhana under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Parsee Gymkhana ground, Marine Drive on Sunday.

Electing to bat first, Bohra CC top three batsmen feasted on the Hindu Gymkhana bowling and helped the team piled up a massive total of 203 for the loss of one wicket from their 20 overs. More showing good form and smashed nine boundaries and four sixes during his 60-ball innings, while Randhawa’s 39-ball knock contained five well-timed hits to the ropes and four well-struck sixes. The two were associated in a 132-run association for the first wicket. Omkesh Kamath also dominated the bowlers and his half century effort came from 22 balls with six shots to the boundary ropes and two powerful hits over the fence.

Later, Bohra CC bowlers dismissed P.J. Hindu Gymkhana for a paltry 148 runs in 19.5 overs to seal their victory and a passage to the semi-final. Himanshu Singh 3 for 12, Mohd Mansoori 3 for 36 and Onkar Tarmale 2 for 36 were responsible for rocking the Hindu Gymkhana innings and restricting them to a poor score. Harsh Salunkhe 44 runs (35-balls, 4×4,2×6) and Vasim Khan 28 (17-balls, 4×4,1×6) were the two batters who managed to get decent runs on the board.

Mumbai, March 18: Reigning champions Parsee Gymkhana made a surprising early exit suffering an embarrassing 77-run defeat at the hands of Bohra Cricket Club in a first round match of the 73rd Nawab Salar Jung Invitation T20 Cricket Tournament, organised by the Islam Gymkhana under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Parsee Gymkhana ground, Marine Drive on Saturday.

Bohra CC’s all-rounder Japjeet Randhawa played a significant role in Parsee Gymkhana’s downfall. The opening batsman Randhawa first scored a 65-ball century 106 runs which was studded with nine boundaries and five powerful sixes and guided Bohra CC to a challenging total of 213 for the loss of 4 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Omkesh Kamath unbeaten 40 runs (23-balls, 1×4,3×6), Ravindra Sante 22 runs and Rugved More 20 runs made useful contributions to the Bohra total, while Aakarshit Gomel (2 for 30) was Parsee Gymkhana best bowler.

The formidable Parsee Gymkhana started their chase on a positive note, but some disciplined bowling from the Bohra CC bowlers who picked wickets at crucial juncture managed to dismiss the rival for 136 in 16.5 overs. Randhawa played a key role with the ball as well and claimed 3 wickets for just five runs. Himanshu Singh 2 for 23 and Ravindra Sante 2 for 35 picked up the other wickets. Gomel 41 runs, Sagar Chabbria 25 runs and Vaibhav Kalamkar 22 runs tried to help Parsee Gymkhana put up a fight, but their efforts went in vain.

Mumbai, March 17:  A determined DTDC Express cricket team showed great character as they staved off a spirited fight back from Western Railway SA by snatching a tight 6-run victory in an exciting second semi-final of the RCF T20 cricket tournament  2023 for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup, organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited under the auspices of the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and played at the RCF Colony ground, Chembur on Thursday evening.

Deciding to take first strike DTDC Express amassed a total of 188 for 9 wickets from their 20 overs. Middle-order bat Vedant Murkar struck a fighting 39-ball 70 runs (6×4,4×6), opening batsman and captain Anish Choudhary scored a 26-ball 44 runs (4×4,3×6) and a late charge from Ajinkya Beloshe who smashed three sixes and two boundaries during his quick 9-ball 28 runs innings which swelled the total. Western Railway’s medium pacers Drushant Soni 4 for 28 and Vijay Gadhvi 2 for 46 claimed the wickets.

Later, DTDC Express kept their composure and held their nerves and halted Western Railway’s charge by restricting them to 182 for 6 wickets from the stipulated 20 overs and to snatch a close win.

DTDC Express will meet Teleperformance DIBS in the final on Monday.

DTDC Express made a shaky start losing three quick wickets with just a solitary run on the board in the second over. But, skipper Choudhary along with Omkar Ghule (9 runs) put the innings back on track with a 50-run partnership. Later, Murkar and Maxwell Swaminathan (13 runs) put together 67 runs for the sixth wicket before Beloshe with his fiery knock swelled the total.

In reply, Western Railway also suffered early setbacks losing both the openers Mrunal Devdhar and Asad Pathan for ducks. But, left-handed Chavan batted aggressively making a 34-ball 63 runs which included eight boundaries and three sixes. Later, Soni 41 runs (26-balls, 3×4,1×6), Omprakash Jaiswal 40 runs (24-balls, 7×4) and Nikhunj Mohite 21 runs kept Western’s on track. But, the DTDC bowlers were disciplined and put the brakes on the opposition batsmen who were unable to get the last few runs and failed to cross the finish line.
