GN Khalsa College Team batting first scored a healthy total of 271/9 in 42.1 overs. Khalsa.s dependable opener Japjeet Singh Randhawa once again displayed solid batting as he top scored the innings with 102 runs which had 10 fours in it. Sanath Vagal at no.3 gave good support to Japjeet scoring a strokeful 55 (7 fours).

Defending a total of 271, Khalsa’s promising leg spinner Aditya Khanvilkar came up with a match winning bowling spell running through VG Vaze’s batting line up bundling them out for just 58 runs. Aditya came up with envious bowling figures of 6/11 in 4.1 overs with a maiden as he helped Khalsa College win by 213 runs.
Team Wronguns batting first were already off to a good start with opener Pavan Singh scoring an aggressive 62 off 34 balls. Tushar More coming at no.4 pounced on the positive momentum not only stitching a partnership but also going on to score a match winning 116 runs in mere 42 deliveries.

Tushar covered every corner of the ground hitting 12 fours and 10 sixes at a humungous strike rate of 276.19 taking his team to a big total of 217/4 in 15 overs.
UTI Champions chasing 218 in 90 balls failed to keep up with the run rate managing 145/9 in 15 overs as Wronguns clinched a win by 72 runs with Tushar More’s 116 being the highlight performance of the match.
Played at the Fatima Ground, JLT team batting first managed to score only 95/10 in 17.2 overs. IDBI’s spinner Kedar H came up with a sensational spell taking a stunning 6/18 in 4 overs. What’s more his spell also included 2 maidens which are some amazing numbers for a t20 match. A wicket every 4th ball and a dot every 2nd ball makes it one of the most impressive T20 spells in the tournament.
IDBI Federal Life Insurance chased down the score with ease winning the match by 7 wkts and 8.2 overs to spare. Opener Arvind Sharma (23 off 11) who took a wicket with the ball also gave a quick start while Vicky Patil remained unbeaten scoring 38* off 30 balls which had 5 fours and 2 sixes.
Deutsche Bank opting to bat first at Elg Vengsarkar Oval were all out for 105 runs in 17.1 overs. The bowler in chief who destroyed the batting line up of Deutsche was Saajan Kanan coming up with match winning bowling figures of 5/18 in 4 overs. Taking a fifer in T20 is always commendable as well as rare feat which medium pacer Saajan managed to achieve for his team.
Chasing 106, ICICI chased it down in just in 15.2 over winning the match by 5 wkts and 4.4 overs to spare. Javeed Siddiqui at no.3 top scored with 44 runs in 30 balls while the rest of the batters chipped in for a dominating win for ICICI securities.
Gannon Dunkerley Invitational Championship 2019 (also known as GDCL) kick started with a bang on March 17 when Cricket Club of India XI and Malabar Hill Club locked horns against each other at CCI, Mumbai. Winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Malabar Hill Club went for plenty as CCI scored a daunting 179-5 in 20 overs. The opening pair of Raj Khandwala (31) and Tejas Patani (28) provided a solid start with a 55-run partnership in six overs. The start was capitalized well by the middle order batsmen Sahil Purohit (36 not out) and Zaosh Irani (32 not out) to give CCI a challenging total to defend. With the ball, Vishal Shah starred with 2-28 in his four overs.
Chasing a mammoth 180, Malabar Hill Club succumbed to pressure and was dwindled down to a paltry 98-7 in 20 overs, losing the match by 81 runs. They got off to a horrendous start as the opening pair was shown the dressing room inside three overs. Coming in at number 3, Samir Mogul was the lone warrior as he played a masterclass innings of 55. However, Mogul failed to find able allies and when he found one in Ankur Jhaveri (21) it was too late in the day. Credit goes to the CCI bowlers for keeping it tight and not allowing Malabar Hill Club to come even close to the target. Tejas Patani and Minesh Shah bowled well in tandem to scalp couple of wickets apiece.

CCI XI’s Sahil Purohit was presented with the Man of the Match award for his gritty unbeaten knock of 36 in 21 balls (4’s: 5, 6’s: 1) down the order.

Played between RA Podar College and Elphinstone College at the LIC Cross Maidan, Elphinstone College batting first managed to score 178/8 in 42.1 overs with their opener Dilshad Sayed top scoring with 55 runs.
Chasing a total of 179, R.A Podar College chased down the score with ease winning the match by 7 wkts. Opener Bhupen Lalwani anchored the chase with a match winning 102* off 84 balls laced with 12 fours and 3 sixes. After scoring 7 tons in the season and getting selected for the Ranji too, Bhupen seems to be on a roll batting consistently at a healthy average.
RA Podar College won the pre-quarters while Bhupen’s ton remained the highlight performance of the match.
RBI after being made to bat first at Cross Maidan were least affected notching up 208/3 in 20 overs. Sumit Ghadigaonkar opening the innings scored a blazing 131 runs in mere 65 balls. Sumit at a strike rate of 200.00 smashed 14 fours and 6 sixes single handedly taking his team towards a healthy total. Sumit has been scoring runs consistently across all the formats and tournaments becoming one of the dependable openers at present and it’s just a matter of time before some big team knocks the door of opportunity for him.

Mumbai Police B in reply were all out for 126 runs thanks to some really tight bowling by the RBI Bowlers. Left-arm spinner Monu Chauhan with 3/22 was the pick of the bowlers while Kunal and Abubakr bagged 2 wkts each.
RBI won the all important finals of the prestigious Insurance Shield Tournament while Sumit becomes the star performer of the final match.
Mangrol SC getting all out for 102 runs in their first innings had a tough job to defend a low total. However, off-spinner Yogesh Shinde bowled impressively coming up with match-winning bowling figures of 5/14 in 9 overs with 4 maidens. It was his bowling spell which restricted Brothers CC to just 69 runs all out helping his team win a low scoring match by 33 runs.

In the match vs Rocket Sports Club at Azad Maidan, Mangrol SC restricted them to just 73 runs where in Yogesh had taken 4wkts for 9 runs in 5.1 overs. Mangrol SC chased down the score in return winning the match by 10 wkts. Yogesh who had taken 23 wkts in the Kanga league continues to bowl consistently coming up with match winning bowling spells.

MULUND KNOCKERS
This is for the third time that team Mulund Knockers is participating in the FCC tournament. I must say that the tournament gets better and better with each passing year. With the increase in the number of teams from 8 to 10 since last year, it has become even more competitive. This tournament goes a long way in providing a platform to plenty of working professionals who are amateur, passionate and weekend cricketers and to those who represent club(s)/team(s) at lower division; a platform where they can showcase their talent against competitive teams, get noticed via local press/media and in turn get rewarded with stints from better higher division teams. Dr. Ashish and the entire team have been brilliant organizers throughout.
I hope that the matches are highly competitive and at the same time, are played in the right spirit by all the teams. With the games being played at AIS, Taloja cricket ground – an excellent facility, I hope that all the participating players relish this opportunity to the fullest and play some tough cricket on the field. Post this tournament, even if a few players get noticed and go on to bag opportunities with better teams, the purpose of the tournament will be fulfilled.
Players to watch out for:
Ramsingh Thakur: Ram is a known entity in FCC tournaments. A stylish wicketkeeper batsman, who on his day can demolish any bowling attack. He is also an exceptional outfielder known for taking great catches.
Vishal Kannoujia: A genuinely quick fast bowler and a power hitter. He can clear the ground easily with his stand-and-deliver sixes.
Anish Shetty: Anish is a fast bowling all-rounder known for his tight bowling at the death and power hitting with the bat. He is also a very safe catcher in the outfield.
Ishaqbaue Shaikh: A very wise cricketer who has the habit of carrying his bat through the innings. He is also a very handy off-spin bowler.
Tauseef Khan: A veteran, a prolific run getter, needs no introduction.

CRICKET CLUB OF DOMBIVLI
Cricket has thought me a lot about life. It’s not about how hard you fall, it’s always about how fast u get up. Cricket is the most radical thing that has happened to me. Last year we were runners up in this tournament. So close yet so far. But I can still feel the excitement and pride of playing in the finals. I was really impressed by the cricketing talent that was on display in FCC 2018. Because of so many talented players, the competitiveness in the tournament was of top drawer. The tournament itself was organised in a very professional manner. Quite impressive I may say.
This year with our good consistent performance we hope we will go all the way. It’s won’t be an easy task as other teams are also very talented and competitive. But we are up for it.
Our core team strength is bonding on and off the field. CCD being an 80+ member cricketing club, galore of talented players are there. All in all, a happy go lucky team who wears their pride on their sleeve. Play hard, party even harder, well that’s our team spirit. Well see you soon on the field. Let’s play some cricket!
Best of luck to all the teams.

As cricket lovers we always eagerly look forward to playing this tournament. The tough competitiveness and friendly spirit of organisers as well as all the participating teams makes participation delightful.
Our simple expectation from the tournament is to enjoy cricket to the fullest and give maximum opportunity to our budding players on big stage. We have come very close in past but have never managed to win this one. It’s our dream to lift this trophy.
All our squad members have played at least 2 to 3 seasons of this tournament but Parikshit has clearly been the star of the tournament over the years with his all round performances.
We look forward to having a wonderful tournament this year also.
Cheers,

Patan CC after being made to bat first at Youth’s Own Union Ground, Cross Maidan scored a total of 212/10 in 44.2 overs. Vinit Mestry opening the innings top scored with a solid 72 off 85 balls (8 fours, 2 sixes) while Ajinkya Parab at no.3 scored a gritty 53 lending a helping hand to Vinit and the team. Off-spinner Aakash J with 4/49 in 9 overs was the pick of the bowlers.
Defending a modest total of 212, Vinit Mestry ran through the Deccan CC’s batting line up coming up with a spectacular spell of 7 wkts for 41 runs in 8.5 overs. Vinit certainly replicated an all-round display of the finest quality like Jacques Kallis as he top scored with the bat while single handedly took care of the bowling department with his medium pace restricting Deccan CC to 176 all out.
Patan CC won the match by 36 runs while it was Vinit grabbing all the attention with his all-round heroics.
