Malabar Hill Club took on Chembur Gymkhana on Saturday at CCI, Mumbai, during the GDCL. Batting first, Malabar Hill Club was restricted to 154-9 in 20 overs. Suraj Lalwani, Ronak Daftaria, and Sandeep Darveshi scalped two wickets apiece. Opening bat Krish Jogani top scored with a 43 ball 55, however failed to find able allies.
Chasing a challenging total of 155, Chembur Gymkhana made the target look easy as they scored 157-3 in just 12.3 overs, winning by seven wickets. The opening pair of Tejinder Singh Saini (68 off 22) and Ganesh Rai (39 off 33) ripped apart the opposition bowled as they smashed 112 in eight overs. Saini belted 11 boundaries and four sixes in his blitzkrieg. With the ball, Manan Shah picked up 2-44 and Vishal Shah accounted for 1-21 in their four and two overs respectively.

Nanavati captain Sahil Madgaonkar’s all-round brilliance set up a resounding seven-wicket victory over RBI in the knockout game of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup at RCF Sport Club, after restricting RBI to 148 for 7 in their 20 overs. At 70 for 3 in the 9th, the RBI tail scrapped their way to 148 as Ameya grinded out a top score of 46 off 38 balls. But the paltry total was never going to be enough and Nanavati soon made a mockery of the chase.
RBI captain called correctly at the toss and opted to give his team the chance of setting a total but Sahil Madgaonkar’s 3 for 28 scuppered a good start and rattled the middle order. The spoils were shared around, with two different bowlers claiming a wicket, and medium pacer Sahil Madgaonkar claiming a brace to finish with figures of 4 for 28 including three wickets. Thakur, who opened the bowling with Sahil and Sawant, didn’t pick up a wicket but set the tone for Nanavati’s performance with four economically delivered overs conceding just 18 runs.
Player of the Match, right-handed batsman, Bhushan Shinde’s today-best knock of 64 off 44 balls, including four fours, four sixes and strike rate of 145. Nanavati were two down for 26 runs but Bhushan Shinde and Akshay added 93 runs for the 3rd wicket. Their cool finish was much needed considering RBI had removed both the openers Kusal for 11 and Pranav for 12. In the end, Nanavati won by 7 wickets with 13 balls remaining.

In the next match vs Maharashtra on 26th March, Mumbai team after putting up a gritty total of 220 runs on board, it was again Mumbai’s opener Jemimah leading from the front with a effervescent 69 off 71 balls. Jemimah smashed 8 fours and a six keeping the scoreboard ticking while Manali Dakshini’s 49 down the order also came in handy in that match. Maharashtra in reply were bundled out for 142 runs with one of the promising bowlers Saniya Raut picking up 4 wkts for 24 runs in 9.1 overs as Mumbai won the match by 78 runs.
In the knock-out game of the DR. BABASAHEB AMBEDKAR CUP at RCF Sport Club , the Mafatlal appeared to be struggling to mount a defendable total in the first 5 overs of their innings, before Karan Nande did nothing short of detonating as 77 runs were piled up in the final fifteen. Karan Nande’s innings, as captain of the Mafatlal, not only pushed the Teleperformance to a total unimaginable with almost nine overs remaining, but appeared also to knock the stuffing out of the Teleperformance.
Player of the Match Karan Nande’s tournament’s-best knock of 77 off 49 balls, including thirteen fours and strike rate of 157.00. As captain he had witnessed Siddhartha depart after building a similar platform (massive partnership of 99 runs), and could not afford to do likewise. Axis Bank electing to bat first at Venus Sports Academy, Goregaon posted a competitive total of 150/5 in 20 overs. Amar Padhye’s 71 off 48 balls at no.4 helped his team reach a respectable total. From the bowlers, it was Rahul Kulkarni impressing one and all with a commendable feat of 5 wkt haul in a T20 match. Rahul was the pick of the bowlers taking a brilliant 5/22 in 4 overs which also consisted a maiden.
Chasing a total of 147 in 20 overs, it was again all-rounder Rahul lending the much needed finishing touch with the bat smashing a brilliant came of 49* off just 23 balls laced with 3 fours and 5 biggies as Piramal boys chased down the score in just 18.4 overs winning the match by 5 wkts where in Rahul’s all-round heroics remained the highlight performance of the match.
Ishaque Shaikh who has played some splendid knocks in T20 format and has been one of the dependable openers of JSW continues to impress with his swashbuckling batting. JSW opting to bat first at Vengsarkar Academy Mahul notched up a massive total of 240/1 in 20 overs. Opener Ishaque batted till the very end scoring a handsome 100* off just 59 balls which had 15 fours in it. What’s more he got excellent support from no.3 bat Arjun Thapa as both the batters stitched a record breaking 196* run stand for the 2nd wicket in just 92 balls. Arjun scored an unbeaten 92* off 49 balls which had 6fours and 6 sixes as JSW were off to unbeatable total.
Star India in reply were bundled out for 139 runs with Vikas Kumar at the middle order fighting it out with 71 runs. Ishaque Shaikh who scored a ton also bagged 2 wkts making it an all round show as JSW won the match by 101 runs.

Sainath Sports Club opting to bat first at Chinchani Cricket Ground managed to post a total of 197/10 in 42.1 overs in which Sunny (44), Ayush Vartak (33) & Pratham (40*) were the highest scorers. From Chinchani CC, Yash Tamore’s brilliant bowling performance which kept the opposition troubled. Yash came up with envious bowling figures of 5/27 becoming the pick of the bowlers for his team.
Chasing a total of 198 in 270 balls is achievable but it was some really tight bowling by the Sainath CC bowlers which restricted Chinchani to just 95 runs all out. It was a collectively good bowling performance by Sainath CC as 6 bowlers chipped in with wickets with 4 bowlers taking 2 wkts each.
Sainath CC won the match by 102 runs and with this they qualify for the semi finals with position 1 while Yash Tamore was adjudged ‘man of the match’ for his heroic bowling spell.
Mumbai Customs after being made to bat first at the RCF Sports Club managed to post a decent total of 164/8 in 20overs. Not a single batsman crossed the 30 run mark but they had everyone chipping in with 20’s.
Chasing 165, Future Group on the back of their opener Harsh Tank were off to a decent start. Harsh smashed a composed half century scoring 50 off 40 balls while crucial 30’s by Sachin Yadav (34 off 21) and Alpesh Ramjani (31 off 18) helped Future Group chase down the score with ease in 18.3 overs winning the match by 4 wkts. Atif Attarwala with 3/29 in 4 overs was impressive even though his team lost the match.
Man of the match-Harsh Tank
In the other match between MBPT and Space SC, Space after being made to bat first were bundled out for a low total of 110 runs in which Ravindra Jadhav at lower down the order scored a crucial 33. Experienced Spinner Yogesh Dicholkar who was amongst the top wicket takers in Kanga last year again proved his mettle taking a brilliant 4/15 in 3.4 overs while Yash Chavan’s 3/11 in 4 overs was equally impressive. However, Space bowlers successfully defended a low total restricting MBPT to just 97 runs all out. Geet Sharma’s spell of 4/27 in 4 overs proved to be too costly for MBPT as Space SC won the match by 13 runs.

Despite some quick fall of wickets by the openers, Inditrade were back into the game thanks to some aggressive batting witnessed at the Oval Maidan. Pratik Gharat coming at no.3 went on to score a swashbuckling 93 runs taking mere 47 balls at a healthy strike rate of almost 200.00. Pratik smashed 11 fours and 3 sixes while the rest of the batsman chipped around him as INDITRADE reached a decent total of 194/4 in 20 overs.
CSPL in reply managed to score only 143/8 in 20 overs failing to keep up with the run rate against the tight bowling of INDITRADE bowlers.
Rising Vision won the toss and elected to bat. Rising Vision’s top-order batsmen gave them a immense start. Strong hands from Jitesh Raut with the bat set up a comprehensive 97-run win for Rising Vision in the first T20 match of Friendship Trophy 19 against FCC Sunrisers in Asahi Glass Cricket Ground,Navi Mumbai on Sunday.
Player of the match, Jitesh Raut produced a sustained assault, hitting 116 not out off 58 balls in an innings that featured thirteen fours and four sixes (including strike rate of 200). It was the first century for this tournament. As Rising Vision defended their mammoth 213 for 6 in style.
FCC Sunrisers suffered a top-order slump as they lost three wickets for 32 runs. Imran and Deepak struck twice as the Sunrisers’ collapsed from 32 for 3 to 116 for 8 in pursuit of 214 in 20 overs. The middle-order ensured FCC Sunrisers survived their 20 overs, with Vishal and Teli adding 31 runs for the fifth wicket, but that didn’t change the fact that Rising Vision were the better team by far, on all counts, on the day.
