Prime Group CC after opting to bat first at the Goregaon Sports Club notched up an excellent total of 308/9 in 45 overs. Opener Samrat Mitra played a fine knock of 85 runs in 97 balls (12 fours) while the middle order failed to capitalize on the good start. However, al-rounder Rohit Phatak who came at no.7 scored an unbeaten 69* off 70 balls (9 fours) pushing the team towards a healthy total. From the bowlers, Ganesh Shinde and Mrunal Shah were the pick of the bowlers taking 3 wkts each.

Chasing 300+ in 45 overs is always a difficult task and Park CC must have felt the pressure getting bundled out for 119 runs in 36.2 overs. Rohit Phatak who first scored a crucial half century ran through the opposition batsman with his medium pace coming up with match winning bowling figures of 6/25 in 7.2 overs. Left arm spinner, Shubham Sardar also looked impressive for his 3 wkts as Prime Group CC went on to win the match by 189 runs.

It was a domination from Prime Group boys right from the beginning while Rohit Phatak and Samrat were the highlight performers.

Rizvi College after being put to bat first at the National CC ground pounced upon the bowlers hitting 395 runs in their quota of 45 overs (22 runs penalty). Openers Onkar Jadhav (47) and Srujan gave a solid start of 84 runs for the 1st wicket while Aman coming at no.3 continued the onslaught stitching a 96 run stand with Srujan. Aman Khan smashed 71 runs in his usual aggressive batting style while it was an equally impressive 75 by the opener Srujan which propelled team towards a big total. The rest of the batsman chipped in with 20’s and 30’s which came in quite handy.

Khalsa College in reply were all out for 139 runs thanks to a ravishing spell by Dhrumil Matkar which changed the game in his team’s favor.

Srujan Athavale

Khalsa who have a solid batting line up lost the semi- finals by 256 runs as Dhrumil came up with bowling figures of 5/18 in 7 overs taking breakthroughs at regular intervals.

United CC after opting to bat first at the Azad Maidan were in for a shocker after being dismissed for just 60 runs all out in 22 overs. The major reason for the batting collapse was New Era’s fast bowler Deepak Singh wrecking havoc over the opposition. Deepak came up with stunning bowling figures of 7/18 in 9 overs with 3 maidens which are till date the best bowling figures for the season. Deepak bowled at sharp line and length which helped him trouble the batsman to the hilt.

A target of 61 was a mere formality as New Era chased it down with 6 wkts in hand. The chase was finished off in mere 6 overs as they won the match by 4 wkts while Deepak’s bowling was surely the highlight performance of the match.

Hind Sevak CC after opting to bat first at the Cross Maidan Ground were all out for 151 runs in what was a perennial batting collapse as only one batsman managed to cross more than 30+ runs. Sagar Khatri was spot on with the ball proving to be pick of the bowler for Mohan CC as he came up with excellent bowling figures of 5/31 not allowing any batsman to settle in or stitch partnerships.

Chasing 155, it seemed to be a mere formality for Mohan CC as Ramiz Darvesh took on the bowlers and thrashed them in every corner of the ground to hit a sparkling ton.

Rameez scored 100* in mere 60 balls which is so far the fastest ton in Knockout this season. He was supported well by Mohsin Mojawala (26*) and Prashant Yadav (20) who chipped in with cameos.

It was the crucial 120* stand between Mohsin and Rameez which ensured that Mohan CC won the match by 8 wickets with more than 25 overs remaining.

On Sunday, GDCL witnessed a lopsided encounter when Osian Cricket Club and PJ Hindu Gymkhana faced each other at Oval Maidan, Mumbai. The opening pair of Vishal Shah (21) and Kamran Ahmad (35) provided a solid start to the innings, and towards the end it was Parth Tolia’s (20) cameo helped helped Osian Cricket Club to go beyond the 150-run mark. With the ball, it was Dwij Adhvaryu wo wrecked havoc picking up 3-27 in his four overs and was assisted well by Paresh Shah and Bakul Mistry, both scalping two wickets each.

In reply, PJ Hindu Gymkhana had a horrendous outing with the bat as the side was done and dusted for 99 in 18.4 overs, losing by 66 runs.
