VJCA Khalsa winning the toss opted to bat first scoring a healthy total of 180/3 in 30 overs. The batters did a good job as they stitched some good partnerships without losing too many wickets at regular intervals.

Chasing at 6 runs per over, the pressure was definitely more on the chasing side as Lions Cricket Club GZB were bundled out for mere 80 runs/all out. The bowler who came up with a match winning spell was Soumel Agarwal who simply ran through the batting line up of Lions CC with his impressive line and length. Saumil came up with envious bowling figures of 7/14 in 6 overs not only becoming the pick of the bowlers but helping his team win the match by a big margin of 100 runs.

Soumil Aggarwal was declared “man of the match” for his outstanding bowling performance while Himanshu collected “The Choice of the players” award.

Yuvraj Salvi seems to be making progress in the field of cricket with leaps and bounds. After being qualified as the ICC (International Cricket Council) level 1 cricket coach and also recieving ASCA-Australian Strength & Conditioning Association (ASCA) level 1 certification, he has added another success story in his cap as BCCI roped him for the U16 South Zone Camp as the Strength & Conditioning coach.

In 2018, Yuvraj was signed by the Mumbai Cricket Association for the U16 Girl’s team as the strength & conditioning coach, he was also called for the Strength & Conditioning workshop at NCA in February 2019 becoming the youngest trainer at the age of 22 to be appointed by the National Cricket Academy for the Under 23 Camp in May 2019.

Yuvraj was also recently appointed by the Zonal Cricket Academy and he aims for a Ranji Trophy Team this season as a Strength & Conditioning Coach. At a young age, he has developed a rich experience in the field of fitness working on cricketers from different parts of the world like New Zealand, Canada, Oman, Australia and UAE.

Yuvraj is at present one of the most qualified Strength & Conditioning coaches in India by international certification bodies such as (ACSM, ASCA, ESA, CSCS, ICC).

Jhunjhunwala College batting first at the Worli Sports Club ground managed to post a decent total of 217/10 in 45 overs. Akshat Jhunjhunwala top scored for his team hitting an impressive 89 off 104 balls laced with 10 fours and a six. Apart from him, Sahil Jadhav scored a handy 42 runs while the rest of the batsman found it difficult to get going. It was an anchoring knock which pushed his team towards a respectable total.

Thakur College in reply were crushed for mere 41 runs all out thanks to some brilliant bowling by Saud Mansoori who took 4 wkts for just 10 runs. Ved Kharade with 3/16 was the 2nd best of the lot as Jhunjhunwala College won by a big margin of 176 runs.

The final of the Dreamz Challenger trophy T20 Pink Ball 2018-19 was played on 1st June 2019, at the M.B Union ground in Cross Maidan. WNS A and JP Morgan Chase A were the two teams going against each other in the final.

WNS A were unbeaten in the competition winning 5 matches in a row to reach the finals. They won the toss in the final and elected to bowl first. Battling first JP Morgan Chase managed 152/4 at the end of 20 overs. WNS A gave the new ball to Ketan Kharat and the move paid off. The left arm orthodox , took 2 wickets in the first 3 balls to give WNS A a dream start ! For JP Morgan Chase , Shreyas Tandel scored an unbeaten innings of 66 of 54 balls , while Nikhil Jadhav scored 49 of 44 balls. In the bowling for WNS A, Ketan Kharat took 2 for 22 and he was well supported by Aditya Nikam who bowled an economical spell and took a wicket.

WNS A needed 153 runs to win the Dreamz Challenger Trophy 2019-19. Opener Aditya Nikam got WNS A to a flying start as he scored 20 runs of 6 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Ketan Kharat continued his good performance in the match , this time with his bat. The left handed batsman scored 40 runs of 28 balls and made a match winning partnership with Dnyansagar Patil, who scored 31 of 26 balls. WNS A needed 12 runs of 12 balls and chased down the target with 3 wickets in hand. For JP Morgan Chase A , Umesh Panchal was excellent with the ball taking 3 wickets for 19 runs and Bhavik took 2 wickets for 12.

Ketan Kharat was adjudged the Man of the Match for his brilliant overall contribution. WNS A won the Dreamz Challenger Trophy Pink Ball 2018-19. Nikhil Jadhav was given the award for the Best Batsman in the tournament , while Dnyansagar Patil was the Man of the Tournament.

Shivaji Park opting to bat first at Kamath Memorial CC, Shivaji Park, Dadar were off to a shaky start with half of the team back to pavilion at 122 runs in the 23rd over. In came Nandita Trivedi at no.7 who changed the game for her team with a sprightly knock of 81*in mere 55 balls. Nandita came in and changed the momentum from nowhere hitting 15 boundaries at a strike rate of almost close to 150.00!

Vashi Center Women’s in reply were bundled out for 129 runs in 35.2 overs. Uma Gurav at no.5 fought hard with an impressive knock of 56 runs but she lacked support from the other end. The bowlers were spot on with Akshi Gurav being the pick of the bowler with 3/14 in 8 overs and 2 maidens as Shivaji Park Center won the match by 122 runs.

Shivaji Park Center Women’s opting to bat first on their home ground at Dadar managed to put a good total of 200/10 in 39.1 overs. Anything above 150 has been difficult for the teams to chase so far in this tournament and hence it was an above average total to defend.  Opener Niviya (38) and Vaibhavi gave a brilliant 101 run opening stand while Vaibhavi went on to score an impressive half century hitting 77 off 84 balls (5fours). The rest of the batters failed below her or else even a total of 250 was very much possible. From the bowlers, Nayana Moolya with 4/18 in 4.1 overs was the pick of the bowlers.

Virar Center Women’s were in reply all out for 149 runs with Jayshree Bhautna at the middle order top scoring with 43 runs.  The bowlers did an excellent job with as many as 6 bowlers chipping in with wickets.

Vaibhavi Raja was also the pick of the bowler with 2/15 in 4.3 overs as Shivaji Park Center won the match by 51 runs.

 

Into the all important U14 finals, SCA B after being put to bat first managed to score only 82/10 in 20 overs. The SCA A bowlers did an extremely good job with the ball restricting the batsman to a low total. The SCA A needing 83 runs to win chased it down with ease winning the match by 7 wkts. The SCA A batsmen played really well and ensured that their team won the match quite easily. Talents were appreciated and star performers were felicitated with trophies.

In the Under 19 finals, SCA Tiger’s won the toss and elected to field first where in SCA Lions scored 89 run in 20 overs. A target of mere 90 runs was looking easy for SCA Tigers to chase this down but point table played the game and brought the fun in the finale.

The twist in the tale was now that SCA Tigers were required to chase 90 runs within 12 overs to become the winners as per net run rate and SCA Tigers completed it in 12.2 overs in what was a nail-biting match. SCA Lions played well and became the Champions of the 1st edition of the SCA championship. It was a very close shave win for the SCA Lions where in both the teams gave their best for an exciting finale.

Talents were appreciated by providing trophies for the best performers. The U16 & U19 SCA T20 Championship 2019 was under the guidance of Vidya Paradkar Sir and Jitendra Ingle Sir. This championship was fully organized by Sir Sunil Soni and the support staff. The tournament had sponsors as well as individual who helped in their capacity to ensure the tournament was conducted successfully. Special thanks also goes to Mansi Sports for their support.

Tournament-All India Level

Into a star studded match which had the likes of players like Manvinder Bisla, Rajat Bhatia, Sachin Rana, Mayank Rawat and many more names. Ajmal Khan CC after being put to bat first at the St. Stephen’s College Ground managed to post a total of 160/10 in 32.1 overs. Hard-hitter Mayank Rawat tops scored with a 25 ball 39 alongwith 32 runs by Arun Chaprana. The bowlers did an impressive job of restricting the opposition to a modest total with Prince Yadav being the pick of the bowlers taking 4/26 in 7 overs with a maiden.

Air India in reply chased down the total in just 30.1 overs winning the match by 4 wkts. Aman Jainwal & Pulkit Narang took 2 wickets each wickets each while Rajesh Sharma (35) and Rohan Rathi (30) top scored with 30’s. The rest of the batsmen also contributed with starts as Air India won the match and became the winners of the prestigious 46th Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial Cricket Touranament (Regd.) 2019.

In post match presentation ceremony, the special chief guests were Mr. Vijay Dahiya (ex. India International Player), Mr. Rajan Manchanda (Joint Sect. DDCA). Prizes were given to players like Rajat Bhatia for his all- round performance, “man of the tournament’ was awarded to Rohan Rathi, “Best batsman’ was awarded to “Pramod Chandila”, “Best Bowler” was awarded to Prince Yadav & the “Best upcoming Player” was awarded to Vaibhav Sood.

On 1st June 2019, the semi final of the Mega Corporate League T20 was played between JSW and First Data at the Karnatak ground at Cross Maidan.

First Data won the toss and asked JSW to bat first. JSW made a slow start to the innings before Sameer Patil played a blistering knock of 75 runs in just 35 balls. The all rounder looked excellent in his impressive partnership with Ashok , who scored 43 of 25 balls. These contributions and a late surge of runs took JSW to a commanding 198/8 at the end of their quota of 20 overs. It was a tough day at the office for the First Data bowlers as they were taken for runs but Ajinkya managed to take 3 wickets for 43 runs , while Akshay took 2 for 49.

Needing 199 runs to win a place in the final , First Data got of to a slow start. Sanket tried to accelerate the innings and scored 45 runs of 32 balls. Amogh scored a 34 ball 30 as First Data could only manage 134/8 at the end of 20 overs. Sameer Patil was again brilliant with the bowl as he was with the bat ! He took 5 wickets for just 27 runs and Ravindra took 2/22.

JSW won by a comprehensive 64 runs to book a place in the final. Sameer Patil was the Man of the match for his heroic all round performance.

The final of the Inbox Wood Corporate T20 Championship 2019 Cricket Tournament was played on 26th May 2019 at the Venue Sports Arena. Axis Bank and Sony Pictures Network were going head to head in the final.

Sony Pictures Network won the toss and elected to bat first. Pratik Patil was the stand in captain for final and he opened the innings. Pratik scored an unbeaten 109 of 68 balls , which included 12 fours and 4 sixes. The right handed opener scored 2 centuries and one fifty of the tournament. He was the star batsman for the Sony Pictures Network in the tournament scoring a staggering 282 runs in 4 matches with 30 fours and 12 sixes. In the final , he was well supported at the other end by Vishal Pandey who scored a quickfire 34 runs of 15 balls.

In the bowling department for the Axis Bank , Jagdeep Bawa took 2 wickets for 38 runs. The right arm medium pacer bowled in the right areas and was rewarded with wickets. Ravi Shinde was economical in his spell as he took a wicket and conceded just 19 runs from his 4 overs.

Axis needed 176 runs to win the final. Amar Padhye was superb with the bat again as he scored 65 runs of 34 balls. This knock made him the highest run scorer in the tournament with 306 runs at an average of 61.2. He made a very good partnership with Jagdeep Bawa as both the right handed batters piled on the runs. Jagdeep Bawa scored 75 runs of 50 balls. Back to back wickets got Sony Pictures Network back in the game and Axis Bank needed 10 of the last over. Anil Kushwaha bowled 3 wides in the final over before Shiva hit a straight six to seal the win for the Axis Bank. Manish Dhanwani took 2/29 and Anil Kushwaha took 2/34 , but it was Axis Bank who emerged victorious in the final.
