Ayush Vartak took everyone by storm as he hammered an unbeatne 215* off mere 110 balls in the Mangrol CC U-19 tournament for National CC. Batting first, National CC scored a mammoth 480 in just 33 overs. However, the total was aided with 114 penalty runs for 3 overs. Roneet Thakur (41 off 35) and Aditya Rawat (43 off 16) were blasting the bowlers as well apart from Ayush. Aashay Shukla hammered a 37-ball 53 as he finished off the innings with Vartak. Ayush faced 110 balls and dispatched 17 of them for fours and a record 16 of them for sixes. His innings killed the competition by the end of the first innings.
National CC made light work of the Mangrol batsman by bowling them out for just 102. The openers put up a 72 run stand but it wasn’t enough as the bowlers piled up on the batsmen. Vednat Patil and Aadesh Rane spun a web picking 9 wickets among them. Patil claimed a 5 wicket haul in 7 overs as Rane made quick work by picking 4 wickets in just 4 overs. Ultimately National emerged victorious with 378 runs in hand.
It was an ultimate victory by National CC as Ayush Vartak continues to score consistently.
Jhunjhunwala College took on Sanpada College of Commerce and Technology in the Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament for junior colleges. Jhunjhunwala posed an imposing total of 245 for the loss of just 3 wickets. Harsh Gharsun batted immaculately, scoring an unbeaten 99, missing out on a well-deserved century by just a single run. He formed partnerships along the way with Siddhant (69) and Meet Jain (34). His innings gave his team the upper hand.
Jhunjhunwala bowlers made light work by dismissing Sanpada College for just 96. Karan managed to score 52 but his efforts were in vain. Ultimately Jhunjhunwala won by147 runs.
Deutsche Bank were crowned the APL Pattem Banks Champions in season 2 as they defeated CITI Bank in a thrilling game of cricket. Deutsche managed just 156 in 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Sanket Kankonkar hammered 79 off just 40 deliveries. His innings was as crucial as it got as his team had lost 5 wickets for just 61 by the 10th over. Forming minor partnerships along the way, Sanket managed to get his team to a competitive total.
Vinayak Pillaii bowled exceptionally, claiming 2/14 in just 4 overs. Skipper Rahul Soni took 2 wickets as well. An underrated bowler was Rohan Sawant, bowling at an economy rate of just 2.75 in 4 overs.
CITI bank were immediately put under pressure as they lost half their side for just 38. Sagar and Rahul spiked a spirited comeback with the bat but the Deutsche bowlers were too good on the day, bowling out CITI for just 133. Nikesh claimed 4 wickets in his 4 over spell, conceding 23 runs. Vinayak Varma was amongst the wickets too, picking up 2 of them. With a monumental bowling effort, Deutsche won the game and sealed the championship by 23 runs.
Sanket Kankonkar was awarded the Man of the Match award for his incredible knock.
Rohit Shirgaonkar is a man of many talents. From being a cricketer himself to coaching at numerous levels is not an easy task. Talking about his career, Rohit started off as a cricketer and competed in the infamous Harris and Giles Shield tournament at the school level. After he passed out, Rohit played competitive club cricket in the Mumbai maidans for almost a decade before switching to coaching. He was talented enough to play in the C Division of the Mumbai leagues. Apart from club cricket, Shirgaonkar also represented Air India in corporate leagues. His most successful tenure as a captain was for the Warriors Cricket Club which lasted for 4 years and yielded numerous championships.
Soon enough in the early 2020’th decade, Shirgaonkar switched his focus to full-time coaching.
The noteworthy assignment was his stint with the Mumbai Cricket Association as a coach. Spending time the environment with supreme talents and well groomed cricketers, Rohit designed the professional cricket coaching programs for youth under the leadership of Vinod Kambli for age group of 08- Mid 40 Years.
Rohit is a Level O certified coach certified by the Mumbai Cricket Association with an ICC Foundation Certificate course’s completion on the way. He started his coaching career at the Podar Sports Academy in Santacruz from 2009. After a few overs, he took over intriguing projects such as the Head Coach of the Oberoi International School (Goregaon) as well as working as a coach for 1-on-1 training sessions at the Lions Club in 2012. After coaching their Goregaon counterpart, the management of Oberoi International School hired him as a head coach again but for the Jogeshwari institution. After leaving the Podar Sports Academy in 2015, he was given the assignment of the Podar Enrichment Academy where he was appointed as the head coach.
His coaching efforts didn’t go unnoticed; Rohit Shirgaonkar was honored for his monumental hard work at the 2019 Indian Sports Award organised by the Sportz Revolution of India in Delhi.
Despite his numerous successful ventures, Rohit seeks to improve his knowledge. Apart from a coaching course, Rohit also trains athletes as a personal trainer from 2019. If this wasn’t enough, the cricketer-turned-coach set out and completed a certified Yoga and Power Yoga Instructor course under IFSA. He believes that his combined knowledge will help the cricketers.
The off-season is just 2 months away as every cricketer is gearing up for a final push in the summer. With no cricket for almost 4 months after May, players are stuck with just fitness regimes and indoor nets with an aspiration to play cricket in England…. this is an opportunity for you.

Mumbai, April 9: Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA) inspired by the excellent bowling performance from Rakesh Prabhu and the solid batting by Shaun Rodrigues who cracked an unbeaten half century went onto register a commanding 7-wicket win against host MIG Cricket Club in the final of the Padmakar Talim Shield cricket final, played at the MIG CC ground, Bandra.
Choosing to field first, Karnatak SA’s Prabhu bowled superbly and claimed for wickets for just 24 runs and his efforts was instrumental in MIG CC innings folding for a measly 126 all out in 17 overs. Kaushal Valsankar 31 runs and Varun Lavande 28 runs were the only two batsmen who managed to stay long in the middle.
In response, Karnatak SA batsmen looked to be control and although they lost three wickets to managed to cruise to victory reaching 127 runs in 17,5 overs and to emerge champions. The mainstay of the Karnatak batting was Rodrigues who smashed an 39-ball unbeaten 56-runs, while teammate Gaurish Jadhav played the perfect supporting role and remained unconquered on 39 runs to ensure their team cross the finish line in style.
MIG CC best bowler was Ankeet Chavan who claimed two wickets for 19 runs.
Brief scores – final: MIG Cricket Club 126 all out, 17 over (Kaushal Valsankar 31, Varun Lavande 28; Rakesh Prabhu 4 for 24) lost to Karnatak SA 127 for 3 wickets, 17.5 overs (Shaun Rodrigues 56* (39-balls), Gaurish Jadhav 39* (34-balls); Ankeet Chavan 2 for 19). Result: Karnatak SA won by 7 wickets.
The 2nd edition of the U-25 T20 Rathod Cup is set to kick off on the 11th of April 2023 at Police Gymkhana. Organised by John Bright Cricket Club, the tournament is to provide opportunities to u-25 age group players. Mumbai Cricket President Mr. Amol Kale has been invited as the Chief Guest. The T20 Rathod Cup is approved by the MCA as well.
In the 2022 season, 16 teams competed in the knockout tournament with Dadar Union winning the championship and New Hind as the runner ups. In the previous year, the organizers 14 spike shoes and 14 runner up shoes to both the finalist and for every game there is an award for Man of the Match. In the 2023 edition, there are 20 teams participating and all games will be telecasted live on Pitchvision.
The John Bright Association has done an excellent task by organising the tournament on their own without external sponsors and help.
3rd league match played on 2nd April in between Raging Bulls vs Risers in Ultra Edge Season 3 Super 7 Co-Powered by Cric Willowforu which was played at – Khel Sports, Sector-66.
Risers won the toss and elected to bat first. Risers started innings poorly as they lost 2 quick wickets for 41 runs on board. They keep losing wickets in between Mohit scored 20runs 8 balls(4×2,6×2) Ashish Sharma scored 28runs 16 balls (4×2,6×1), Dinesh scored 24(4×3,6×1). Risers managed to score 159/7 in 20 overs. Raging bulls bowling figures Vivek Kumar 4-25-2wickets, Aman, Lucky, Karan took 1-1 each wicket.
Chasing Raging bulls got off to a flier. Ashish Malik played gritty knock of 59 not out in 51 balls (4×6,6×1), with him Kunal Raheja played good knock of 57 not out in 30 balls (4×5,6×4) also Nikhil Bhojwani played a quick knock of 25 runs in 22 balls (4×3,6×1). They chased down the target of 160 in 17.4 overs. In the bowling department from Risers Varun, Rahul & Saurabh Rathore took 1-1 wicket each.

UK-11 won the toss and elected to bowl first. XI-Gers started innings poorly as they lost 3 quick wickets for 17 runs on board. They keep losing wickets in between. Samarth Verma scored 31(4×1,6×2) Amit Kakkar scored 23(4×5), Prateek Taneja scored 22(4×1,6×1). XI-Gers managed to130/9 in 20 overs. UK-11 bowlers bowled splendidly to restrict XI-Gers. Vishal 4-21-2wkts, Tarun Chaudhary 4-26-2wkts, Bharat Sehrawat 4-31-2wkts. Chasing UK-11 also faltered in there innings as well, losing 2 top wickets early then Bhupi chipped in with quick 27 runs – 18 balls with (4×3,6×1), Mohit Tyagi supported him with 33 runs – 30 balls (4×4). In the end Dilsukh Sharma made 24 runs – 26 balls (6×2). They managed to chase down the target in 17.5 overs. In the bowling department from XI-Gers Akshit bowled superb leg breaks to pick up 3 crucial wickets. Sumit picked up 2 wickets as well.

Mumbai, April 7: Mansi Patil brilliant efforts with both bat and ball inspired Fort Youngsters CC to an easy 48-run victory against Rajawadi CC in a semi-final match of the 1st MCA Women’s Cricket League played at the MCA ground, BKC on Friday morning.
The number batter Mansai batted confidently to score an unbeaten 37-ball 64 runs which was studded with 11 hits to the boundary ropes, Besides Mansi’s innings, her teammates, openers Riya Chaudhari 48 runs (23-balls, 8×4) and Janhavi Kate 38 (30-balls, 7×4) made solid contributions which ensured Fort Youngsters reach a healthy total fo 171 for 4 wickets from the 20 overs. Tanvi Parab (2 for 20) was Rajawadi’s best bowler.
Later, opener and consisitent run scorer Vrushali Bhagat single-handedly tried to keep Rajawadi CC in the fight. However, all the other batters failed to stay long in the middle and provide any support as their innings closed at 123 for 9 wickets from the stipulated 20 overs. Vrushali was the top-scorer with 74 runs from 46-balls and with 11 bondaries. The next best batter was Kshama Patekar whioc made 14 runs. Fort Youngsters’ off-spinners Jagravi Pawar 2 for 16 and Himaja Patil 2 for 23, left-arm spinner Batul Pereira 2 for 17 and leg-spinner Mansi Patil 2 for 25 picked up the wickets to clinch the win.

Later, in the second semi-final, all-rounder Sarika Koli’s superb performances helped Victory CC storm to a commanding 8-wicket victory against Springfield CC to set up a clash with Fort Youngsters in the final.
Batting first Sportsfield were restricted to 134 for 8 wickets from 20 overs. Opener Shameen Abdullah 58 runs (52-balls, 6×4,1×6) and former Indian cricketer and number 3 bat Punam Raut 56 runs (47-balls, 7×4,1×6) lifted the Sportsfield total. Victory CC left-arm spinner Nidhi Buley 4 wickets for 16 runs and off-spinner Sarika Koli 2 wickets for 32 runs were mainly responsible to contain the rival batters.
In response, Victory CC easily chased the target making 138 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets in 15 overs. Sarika Koli was the leading run-getter with 55 runs (34-balls, 9×4), while Mahek Pokar contributed an unbeaten 50 runs (37-balls, 7×4) and Saima Thakor chipped in with 20 runs to help her team cruisie to victory.
