PJ Hindu Gymkhana after opting to bat first were at one stage struggling with 39/4 before their skipper Anup  Revandkar scored a crucial 78 off 103 balls (11 fours, 1 six)  to steer his team towards a respectable total of 200/10 in 54.4 overs. Salil Agharkar down the order also chipped in well with a gritty 42.

Chasing 202 seemed like a cakewalk for the MIG team as opener Kevin Almeida 75* off 99 balls (10 fours, 1 six) and skipper Wasim Jaffer 101 off 79 balls (14 fours, 2 sixes) made merry of the opposition’s bowling attack. The domestic legend even at the age of 41 played like a pro hitting some pleasurable shots to steer MIG to a commanding win by 9 wkts.

MCA Colts after being put to bat first at Cross Maidan were least affected to bat first as they had a run feast which surely proved heavy for National CC team. Right handed opener Kaushik Chikhlikar went on to score a marathon innings of 200* in just 196 balls stamping his presence with some classy batting. The right hander smashed 22 fours and 3 sixes while he also stitched some crucial partnerships with Siddarth Akre (73 off 91 balls), Agni Chopra (89 off 59 balls) and Utkarsh Raut who remained unbeaten on 37*. The bowlers certainly went for a beating and MCA Colts were particularly hard on Ravinder Solanki (3/138) and Sachin Gill (1/100)

National CC in reply were all out for 320/10 in 61.2 overs with Vijaykumar Gohil being the pick of the lot with 4/101 in 19.2 overs. Experienced left hander Shashikant Kadam top scored for National CC scoring a brilliant 32 ball 66 laced with 7 sixes.

It was a match where batters had fun while bowlers were made to toil hard, MCA Colts won the match by 117 runs and it was without any doubts Kaushik grabbing all the attention for the all the right reasons.

The match between Merry Cricketers and Gamdevi Cricketers was played at Shivaji park gymkhana on Sunday, 3rd November. Gamdevi Cricketers won the toss and choose to field first.

In merry cricketers 1st innings, the opening was a failure but no.3 batsman Vikas Jaiswal scored 32 runs off 54 balls. They scored a total of 115 before getting bowled out. For Gamdevi cricketers, Right arm medium bowler Pratik gupta picked up figure of 3/20. Gamdevi Cricketers had a bad start but middle order right handed batsman Rohan Kalbhor scored an important 52 runs and they declared at the score of 123 runs losing 5 wickets. It was an impressive half century which helped his team sail through. Right arm medium bowler Onkar Jadhav picked up 3 wickets.

In their second innings, Merry Cricketers played 7 overs scoring 32 runs losing 1 wicket. Then, the day was called off.

Result-match ended in a draw.

Rizvi CC after being put to bat first at Shivaji Park were bundled out for 102 runs in 59.2 overs. The bowlers did an excellent job of keeping it tight with left arm quick Kunal Bhavsar and spinner Mihir Shah bagging 3 wkts each.

It was a head to head match as Rizvi bowlers did not allow SKP Athletics team to breathe with ease. Left-arm Spinner Ayush Singh bagged 8 of the 9 SKP wickets in what can be described as one of the super spells of this season. Ayush Singh kept on providing breakthroughs coming up with a almost match winning bowling figures of 8/43 in 14 overs. Young Ayush becomes only the 2nd bowler after Amol Patil from D div to achieve the feat of taking 8 wkts in an innings this season.

It was a narrow escape for SKP team as they survived with one wicket in hand as the day ended with them stranded on 88/9 in 29 overs. The match ended in a draw but it was a brilliant performance from Ayush who certainly grabbed all the attention on the merit of his performance.

The match between Borivali Cricket Club and Mangrol Sports Club was played at Sassanian C.C, Azad Maidan. Mangrol Sports Club won the toss and elected to field first.

With a highest score of 12 in the whole team, Borivali Cricket Club understandingly scored a total of 71 runs before getting all out. For Mangrol Sports Club, Off-spinner Yogesh Shinde pulled off a splendid performance with the bowl and picked up a fifer only for 11 runs. The batting performance of Mangrol Sports Club was worse then their opposition and evidently, they were bowled out at mere 53 runs. Slow left arm bowler Rakesh Naik picked 4 wickets for 27 runs.

In the second innings, Borivali Cricket Club had a slightly better start and scored 110 runs. Right handed Imtiyaz Ahmed scored 31 runs off 28 balls. Mangrol sports club had once a good show with the ball and picked up 7 wickets.

Result- the match ended in a draw.

The match between Canara Vijay Cricket Club and Shree Lad Club was played at Syndenham College Gymkhana, Oval Maidan. Shree lad club won the toss and chose to take field first.

In the first innings, the batting performance of Canara Vijay Cricket Club was pretty good and especially no.4 right handed batsman Sachin Rao played a classic knock of 84 runs off 90 balls. The way Sachin batted, he is certainly one batsman to watchout for in the upcoming Police Shield Tournament. For Shree Lad Club,  Slow left bowler Bhavik Patel picked up a brilliant 6 wicket haul wherein he certainly stamped his presence as an effective bowler.

For Shree Lad Club, the pick of the batsman was right handed batsman Bhavik Patel whose inning was a whistle-stop, he scored 41 runs off 18 balls which included 4 fours and 1 six. For Canara Vijay Cricket Club, Slow left arm bowler Umesh Gotkhindikar and off spinner Sachin Rao picked up 4 wickets each.

Canara vijay second innings was a brief stay in the middle, they just faced 2.5 overs and scored 12 runs. The day was called off then.

Toss won by Sangam sports club and elected to bowl first.

The match between Mohan Cricket Club and Sangam Sports Club was played at Goregaon Sports Club on Sunday, 3rd November. 

In the first innings, Mohan Cricket Club had very little to boast of and were bowled out at 79 runs. For sangam sports club, slow left arm bowler Saiel Surve tore apart the opposition batting order and clutched an astonishing figure of 7/36.

Likewise the opposition, Sangam Sports Club had a low scoring outing putting up 93 runs before declaring the innings. For Mohan Cricket Club Slow left arm bowler Dhawal Khimani picked up an impressive fifer.

In the second innings, Mohan Cricket Club turned the tables and scored 106 runs losing only 3 wickets. Right handed opener Ramiz Darvesh Scored a blitzkrieg of an innings which included 5 sixes and 4 fours (65 off 32) which propelled them to a possible win. That set the target for sangam sports i.e. 102 runs. Sangam Sports’s batsmen didn’t have high scorers but had consistent scoring points and they pulled of an uncertain victory at the end.

Result-Sangam Sports won the match by 5 wickets.

 

Club Cricket is the lifeline for any aspiring cricketer to excel in the field of cricket. It’s only through hard work at club level cricket does a player progresses to Domestic and International level. ExerFIT Yellow Cap Winner, Most Popular Player in Club Cricket for the month of October’19-Abhishek Pandey

Left arm spinner Abhishek Pandey was adjudged the winner of the Yellow Cap. The Sainath SC spinner who has bowled some brilliant spells this season surely invited a lot of limelight on the merit of his performances. Abhishek won the most popular player in Club Cricket for the month of October with a massive 702 votes.

 

The match between Young Mens Cricket Club Vasai and Dahisar Younstars was played at L.I.C, Cross  Maidan on 3rd November, Sunday. Dahisar Youngstars won the toss and chose to take the field first.

With a failed start, Young Men Cricket Club look uncertain in the middle and kept losing wicket continuously, but middle order batsman Kashish Jain scored a positive 63 runs off 76 balls which provided thrust to the innings and the end show was conducted by lower order right handed batsman Anand Surve score a quick 46 runs off 53. The team scored a colossal 212 runs before getting bowled out at 43.2 overs. Dahisar Youngstar right arm bowler Sagar Kawankar picked up 4 wickets but gave away 81 runs.

In the Dahisar innings, except for no.3 left Bhavesh Bawdane who scored the highest score of 44 for their team, there was not a lot to discuss. At the end, the scored 118 runs for 7 wicket before the play was called off. For Young Men’s Cricket Club Vasai, Right arm bowler Harish Narvekar picked up 3 wickets.

The match between Bluestar Cricket Club and KRP XI Cricket Club was played at Youth’s Own Union C.C, Cross Maidan on Sunday, 3rdnovember. Toss won by KRP XI cricket club and elected to field first.

Bluestar Cricket Club batting didn’t yield productive result and they only managed to score 79 odd runs in 35.2 overs. Experienced veteran Spinner Nitin Surve picked up a fifer for KRP XI. In response, KRP XI cricket club performance was abysmal and they managed to score only 43 mere runs. For Bluestars, spinner Prashant Patil picked up a figure of 5/30.

Commencing into the second innings, Bluestars had a better performance, especially Lefty opener Sagar Patil Score a comprehensive 50 off 60 balls. They scored 88 runs losing 5 wickets before declaring the innings. For KRP XI cricket club, right arm medium bowler Sumit Mhatre bowled a fiery spell of 5/21. KRP XI cricket club had a target of 124 but there were very few overs left for both teams, they safely negotiated the remaining 4 overs. Then, the day was called off.
