VCA Achievers after being put to bat first at Varroc Cricket Ground in Pune notched up a healthy total of 161/5 in 20 overs. VCA openers in particular gave a solid start putting on 108 runs for the 1st wicket under 14 overs. Madhur Jethlia scored 52 off 49 balls (8 fours) while Rohit Rathi scored a quickfire 54 off 43 balls laced with 7 fours & a six.

Defending a total of 161, Super Kings failed to keep up with the run rate managing only 132/8 in 20 overs. It was an excellent job by the bowlers who kept it tight where in Ashish Sharma (2/19 in 3 overs), Kenneth Anthony (2/14) and Sushant Rathi (2/31) proved to be quite effective in providing breakthroughs at regular intervals.

LAISH United after opting to bat first at Varroc Cricket Ground, Pune were not able to create much of an impact as they were all out for 91 runs in 16.4 overs. HSBC bowlers were spot on with the ball not allowing batsman to score runs freely. Sandeep Lokande was the pick of the lot coming up with a game changing spell of 4/12 in 4 overs including one maiden which are some impressive numbers for a T20 match.

For HSBC Amigos, chasing 92 was a cakewalk as they sealed the chase in just 12.1 overs with 9 wkts in hand. Opener Ganesh Misal remained unbeaten on 32* as HSBC won the game by 9 wkts where in Sanjay Lokande was declared ‘man of the match’

SVIS opting to bat first at Azad Maidan simply dominated the bowlers amassing 761/4 in 39 overs out of which 156 runs were penalty runs. SVIS openers gave a solid start with Krishna Parte scoring 95 runs. Meet Mayekar coming at no.3 ensured the positive momentum was taken care of hitting a magnificent 338 in mere 138 balls. Meet went all guns blazing smashing 56 fours and 7 sixes as he reached his 300 in mere 118 balls. Ishan Roy batting with him gave good support for his 67 runs as SVIS were in commanding position.

In one of the most bizarre incidents which could have been witnessed in cricket, the opposition team of SVIS were all out for 7 runs and even those 7 runs were extracted through extras. In what could be a rarest of the rare event, all the eleven players of Children’s Welfare Andheri team were out on ducks. Alok Pal from SVIS came up with 6 wkts in his short 18 ball spell conceding mere 3 runs to handover his team SVIS  a win by  a record margin of 757 runs.

CEAT opting to bat first at Oval Maidan posted a thumping total of 199/4 in 20 overs. Thanks to their talented batters who ensured it remained a batting feast. Bhavay Taneja top scored for CEAT scoring a swashbuckling 91 off 62 balls while Rupen Chaurasiya proved to be equally destructive hitting a 35 ball 64 as both the batters stitched a game changing partnership to push their team to a target of 200 for the opposition.

Defending a total of 200, CEAT’s strike bowler proved to be Ajay Mishra who came up excellent bowling figures of 5/1 in 4 overs. Ajay was spot on with the ball providing breakthroughs at crucial intervals which restricted ZEE TV to just 67 runs all out. Also the single run which he conceeded was through a wide. Ajay achieved a record of conceeding least number of runs to reach a 5 wkt haul in Corporate Cricket. In fact this is a record which shall be prevalent across any formats & levels of cricket in Mumbai.

CEAT won the match by 132 runs while man of the match award was shared by Bhavay  Taneja and Ajay Misha for their outstanding individual performances.

 

Bombay Gymkhana opting to bat first at CCI could have been all out for 200-220 runs but it was their solid no.3 bat Nishad Gabhawala anchoring the team towards a competitive total. After opener Ankit Shastri giving a head start with 58 runs, it was Nishad Gabhawala at no.3 scoring an elegant 115 off 156 balls. It was an innings which he built with resistance as he smashed 10 fours and did a good amount of running between the wickets.

However, Cricket Club of India does boast of a prolific batting line up and it’s really difficult to beat them on their own ground. Openers Paul Valthaty and Parth Shah gave a brilliant 124 run stand with Paul scoring the majority of runs smashing 86 off 109 balls which had 12 fours and a six. The chase was further taken care of by the middle order thanks to a 130 run stand for the 5th wicket between Vinit Indulkar (56 off 75) and Ajinkya Patil (75* off 85 balls) as CCI chased down the target in 68.1 overs winning the match by 5 wkts.

Bluestar CC after being put to bat first at Dadkar Maidan posted a total of 212/10 in 43 overs. Such was their innings that opener Sagar Patil scored almost half of the team runs notching up a brilliant hundred. Sagar despite lacking support from the other end scored a classy 100 off 138 balls laced with 12 fours and 4 sixes. From the opposite team, Sagar Khatri was sensational with the ball taking a brilliant 7/26 in 11 overs which had 3 maidens.

Mohan CC in reply batted for 36 overs scoring 176/6 before the match day ended with no results being obtained. It was a match which ended in a draw but drew out some good performances. 

Into the all important finale of the prestigious CPCC Tournament for the U14 players, Payyade SC skipper Rudra Tank after opting to bat first at Oval Maidan were all out for a modest total of 147/10 in 66.1 overs. Most of the batsman found it difficult to get going while skipper Rudra showed some resistance with a gritty 45 to steer his team towards a somewhat respectable total. Left arm spinner Mohit Singh was the pick of the bowlers for Apollo CC firing at the right time as he came up with excellent bowling figures of 5/42 in 19 overs with 5 maidens.

Apollo CC after bowling nicely failed to convert their good performance while chasing as they were bundled out for 70 runs all out. It was a batting collapse for Apollo CC team as Medhankar Lavesh came up with a match winning spell of 4/12 with 10 maidens in 16.5 overs. The rest of the bowlers also gave good support as Payyade SC won the match on 1st innings lead.

With this win, Payyade SC also become the winners of the U14 CPCC tournament.

PJ Hindu Gymkhana after opting to bat first were at one stage struggling with 39/4 before their skipper Anup  Revandkar scored a crucial 78 off 103 balls (11 fours, 1 six)  to steer his team towards a respectable total of 200/10 in 54.4 overs. Salil Agharkar down the order also chipped in well with a gritty 42.

Chasing 202 seemed like a cakewalk for the MIG team as opener Kevin Almeida 75* off 99 balls (10 fours, 1 six) and skipper Wasim Jaffer 101 off 79 balls (14 fours, 2 sixes) made merry of the opposition’s bowling attack. The domestic legend even at the age of 41 played like a pro hitting some pleasurable shots to steer MIG to a commanding win by 9 wkts.

MCA Colts after being put to bat first at Cross Maidan were least affected to bat first as they had a run feast which surely proved heavy for National CC team. Right handed opener Kaushik Chikhlikar went on to score a marathon innings of 200* in just 196 balls stamping his presence with some classy batting. The right hander smashed 22 fours and 3 sixes while he also stitched some crucial partnerships with Siddarth Akre (73 off 91 balls), Agni Chopra (89 off 59 balls) and Utkarsh Raut who remained unbeaten on 37*. The bowlers certainly went for a beating and MCA Colts were particularly hard on Ravinder Solanki (3/138) and Sachin Gill (1/100)

National CC in reply were all out for 320/10 in 61.2 overs with Vijaykumar Gohil being the pick of the lot with 4/101 in 19.2 overs. Experienced left hander Shashikant Kadam top scored for National CC scoring a brilliant 32 ball 66 laced with 7 sixes.

It was a match where batters had fun while bowlers were made to toil hard, MCA Colts won the match by 117 runs and it was without any doubts Kaushik grabbing all the attention for the all the right reasons.
