Mumbai, November 23: Rudra Dhanday’s fighting century effort helped Karnataka Sporting Association score 230 runs before their first innings folded 51.1 overs against Parkophene Cricketers in their Group-A league match on the first day of the two-day match of the 72nd Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament 2019, and played at the Karnataka Sporting Association, Cross Maidan on Saturday.
After being sent in to bat first, Karnataka SA batsmen found the going tough. But, Dhanday stood firm and cracked 126 runs (144 balls, 17×4) to steady the innings and reach a respectable total. Pardeep Sahu 6 for 57 was the key bowler for Parkophene.

Western Railway B batting first were all out for 176 runs in 62.4 overs with Karan Joshi top scoring with 50 runs. From the bowlers, Sandip J (4/56) and Anirudha Mainkar (3/36) were the pick of the lot for Mumbai Police Team.
Gr. Mumbai Police team in reply scored 227/10 in 80 overs and credit goes to Shrideep Mangela who saved the team from getting all out below Western Railway’s total. Shrideep toiled hard hitting a brilliant 131 off 249 balls smashing 14 fours and 3 sixes. Shrideep batted for 322 mins as he kept the scoreboard ticking despite lacking support from the other end. Jay Chouhan with 6/39 bowled a stunner of a spell but Shrideep somehow got the better of Western Railway bowlers ensuring a 1st innings lead for his team.
Yogi CC batting first at Khar Gymkhana were struggling at one stage with 3 top order wickets back to the hut under 21 odd runs however it was Chandan Chauhan coming at no.5 who stitched a crucial stand with centurion Niranjan Paradkar. Chandan scored 95 off mere 71 balls (7 fours, 6 sixes) as he changed the momentum while Niranjan on the other hand was equally aggressive scoring a scintillating 111* off 90 balls (12 fours, 4 sixes) as both the batters changed the course of the game. Saurabh Singh’s 36 ball 57 further accelerated the team’s total to 301/6 dec in 46.4 overs.
JVPG in reply also batted well losing just 3 wkts in 38 overs scoring 169 runs before the game ended in a draw. Adhiraj Dabholkar (75* off 123 balls) and Yogesh Dhumal (83 off 88 balls) stitched an impressive 146 run stand for the 3rd wicket before the game ended with no results being obtained.

Mafatlal CC after being put to bat first at the scenic MCA Kandivali ground batted really well notching up 432 runs in 90.3 overs. Despite a lackluster top order start, it was their middle order comprising of Miten Shah at no.6 scoring a brilliant 125 off 108 balls (13 fours, 7 sixes) changing the course of the game. Miten was nicely supported by no.7 batsman Puneet Tripathy who scored 85 off 111 balls while all-rounder Prasad Patil who came at no.8 also lended a helping hand scoring a crucial 54 off 112 balls. Prasad stitched a good partnership with no.9 batsman Amit Pandey who scored 48 runs. For Mafatlal CC, it was their middle and lower middle order who saved them from a low total.
Teleperformances Global in reply were all out for 189 runs in 67.5 overs thanks to a match winning spell by Prasad Patil came up with bowling figures of 6/58 in 19 overs alongwith 7 maidens to his name. Prasad who is known to be a very promising all-rounder finally seems to be getting back to the groove as he has come up with a performance which will instill a lot of confidence in him for the coming season. Mafatlal receiving a follow on were 93/4 in 54 overs with Atul Singh taking 3/15 before the end of the game’s play where Mafatlal CC won the match on 1st innings lead.

Priyank Tandon- Automotive Orange Cap Winner for the month of October’19
Priyank Tandon from Rising Phoenix Team is adjudged the winner of Orange Cap for the month of October’19. In the Jolly friends Sports Solo Premier league, Priyank Tandon smashed a match winning 83* off 56 balls which had 10 fours & 2 sixes at a strike rate of close to 150. It was on the back of his innings, Rising Phoenix defeated Labrada Team by 87 runs. Priyank was declared ‘man of the match” too for his aggressive half century.

Mumbai: The Bombay Gymkhana, under its CSR initiative ‘BG Cares’ will be conducting their annual free cricket coaching camp for boys’ under-19 and under-23 and girls’ under-19 at the Bombay Gymkhana ground.
The camp will be held from November 27, 2019 to May 31, 2020 under experienced coach Farhad Daruwala. Trials will be conducted to select 25 candidates in each of the three categories. Cricketers should report for selection trials at the Bombay Gymkhana ground on Tuesday, November 26 at 2.30 pm in white cricket clothing and regular cricket shoes. Cricketers attending the selection trials have to bring their birth certificates, Aadhar card copy and MCA registration card, if they have registered with the association. The cut-off date for under-19 is 1.9.2000 and for under-23 is 1.9.1996.

Rajasthan Sports Club opting to bat first at Cross Maidan were bundled out for 68 runs 28.5 overs. The bowler in contention was none other than Spinner Sandeep Pawar who came up with a stunning spell of 6/23 in 11.5 overs. Sandeep has been in excellent form this season bagging 39 wkts in 6 matches at a stunning bowling average of 8.9. Sandeep also recently won a purple cap for the month of October from exerFIT who are felicitating cricketers at the club level.
In reply United Cricketers declared their innings at 154/1 thanks to their top order batsman Yash Patil and Jagdhish jadhav who stitched an unbeaten 154* run stand for the 2nd wicket. Opener yash smashed a brilliant 65* off 63 balls (7 fours, 2 sixes) while Jagdish Jadhav was in a different zone altogether hitting a swashbuckling 84* in just 53 balls. Jagdish dominated bowlers in every corner of the ground hitting 10 fours and 3 sixes handing over a win on 1st innings to the United Cricketers team.
Datamatics team after opting to bat first at Parsee Cyclists, Azad Maidan managed to post a competitive total of 245/all out in 40 overs. The curious case with Datamatics team was the fact that they had batsman chipping in with starts till as low as no.9 but they lacked someone who could capitalize on the starts. Manoj Sonawane coming at no.5 top scored for Datamatics team scoring a quickfire 37 off 26 balls (3 fours, 1 six) at a healthy strike rate of 142.00. From the Piramal Team, Gaurang Parekh, Amit Sinha and Ravi Prakash chipped in with 2 wkts each.
Chasing 246 at an edge above 6 runs per over was always going to be difficult & Piramal team certainly must have felt the pressure getting all out for 120 runs in 30.4 overs. Datamatics bowlers were spot on with their bowling not only taking wickets at crucial junctures but also not allowing the Piramal batters to score freely. Shashank Jadhav with 3/10 in 7 overs (2 maidens) proved to be the pick of the lot while Saiel Surve and Rasik Naik also chipped in with 2 wkts a piece handing over a 125 run win to Datamatics. Shashank Jadhav for his miserly spell was declared ‘man of the match”
Canara Vijay CC after being put to bat first at Oval Maidan were bundled out for 84 runs in 28.2 overs. Canara Vijay at one stage were struggling with 4 wkts down for 8 runs but it was their middle order batsman Atharva Chavan’s gritty 40 saving team from a low total embarrassment. From the bowlers, it was left arm spinner Rakesh Naik taking 6/26 in 9.2 overs.
Borivali CC on the back of Tushar Tiwari’s 56 declared their innings at 131/5 winning the match on 1st innings lead. Canara Vijay batting in 2nd innings were again all out for 57 runs and it was their ace bowler Rakesh taking 6/25 in 13.1 overs. Rakesh’s overall figures in the match turned out to be an impressive 12/51 in 22.3 overs helping Borivali CC win the match in a commanding fashion.

There are so many players in Mumbai who are absolute cult figures amongst their cricket mates because of the gigantic records they achieve at Club Level and Rakesh Naik is one such player who has been silently performing since years but has not yet played competitive levels of cricket like Mumbai Ranji or T20 Mumbai or IPL.
Cricketgraph team has been in constant touch with him since years and these are his records which will take your breath away.
Year 2019- Appointed as the captain of the team Borivali CC,he also led the team in Kanga Knockouts where Borivali CC emerged champions. In the finals he came up with 58 runs and took 3 wkts as his team is now in top in G Division. This year again he is the table topper with 36 wkts in 8 innings at an average of 3.00 and econ of 1.56. One of his best performances this year has been the 12 wkt haul he took last Sunday vs Canara Vijay team. Apart from that he also scored 58 runs & took 7 wkts in same match vs Shree Lad Club this season in September.
In 2019, he also lead DTDC team to become the winners of the Pulse T20 Tournament, he scored 180 runs alongwith 16 wkts in 5 games out of which he bagged ‘man of the match’ awards in as many as 4 games.
Year 2018- He was appointed as captain of KRP XI in Kanga Knockout and in that same year he brought the trophy home winning the tournament which ensured KRP XI enters the G Div Kanga League. As a captain he led from the front scoring 410 runs alongwith 26 wkts as he turned out to be the 4th highest run getter in 2018. In 2018, he also smashed a 57 ball hundred which was the fastest of the season while he scored a 104 off 92 balls in the Kanga Knockout finals when his team was struggling at 75/5.
Year 2017– Played for MB Union in D Division, scored 289 runs & took 15 wkts for his side. He was the highest run scorer in D Div for 2017 & 6th highest wicket taker. Under his captaincy, he has won two back to back Kanga knockouts. In that same season, he also smashed a 75 ball 109 which was amongst the fastest hundreds of Kanga that season.
This 30yr old certainly looks well deserved to play in more competetive teams and tournaments if given the right opportuities.
