Into the final league match at MB Union Cross Maidan, two of the promising teams of G Div took on each other for one last encounter of the season. Borivali CC after opting to bat first posted this year’s highest team total of Kanga declaring their innings at a mammoth 397/7 in 47.3 overs. Opener Abhinav Jagtap and middle order batsman Rakesh Naik stitched a record 216 run stand for the 3rd wicket which is also the highest partnership this year across all divisions for any wicket. Abhinav scored a quickfire 122 off 88 balls laced with 11 fours and 9 sixes while Rakesh scored the season’s highest individual score of 178 runs in 112 balls which had 22 boundaries and 6 sixes to his name.
Sangam Sports Club in reply were all out for 68 runs where in skipper Rakesh Naik led the troop with the ball too picking up 5/22 while Himanshu Sonthalia with 4/8 was equally impressive in his short spell. Borivali CC in 2nd innings declared at 163/4 with Abhinav Jagtap again scoring a fantastic knock of 59 runs in 48 balls & Sushant Kadam scoring a very quick 37 ball 58 at no.3.
Rakesh’s 4/32 in 2nd innings restricted Sangam SC to 64/5 in 11 overs at the end of the game’s play where Borivali CC won the match on 1st innings lead. Borivali CC with 24 points in 9 games also become the winners of G Div Kanga League.
Borivali CC gave an excellent team performance where all their players contributed well in their capacities under the leadership of Rakesh Naik who now has 400 runs and 49 wkts in 9 Kanga games becoming the highest run scorer as well as wicket taker of the G Div.
SMPL-South Mumbai Premier League
KCC opting to bat first at Somaiya Cricket Ground indeed enjoyed batting first notching a healthy total of 197/5 in 20 overs. Opener Kunal Chandawala (58 off 47) and Tenzing Niyogi (85* off 51 balls) stitched a match winning 124 run stand for the 2nd wicket which did the job for KCC. While Kunal provided stability to the innings, it was Tenzing turning the tables with his aggressive batting.
Royal Tigers chasing at almost 10 runs per over succumbed to the pressure of chasing a big total as they managed only 92/8 in 20 overs. KCC bowlers were simply spot on bowling at tight lengths. Himmat Obhan was stunning with the ball conceding mere 4 runs in 4 overs while also bagging 3 wkts along with a maiden. Himmat was nicely supported by other bowlers including Sammy who took 2/19 in 4 overs as KCC won the match by 105 runs.
Tenzing Niyogi for his unbeaten 85* was declared ‘man of the match’
In 2015, five sports fanatics came together with just one common thing at heart- their love and passion for cricket. These five people were the fathers of the kids studying at the Jamnabai Narsee School (JNS) and this was the beginning of a successful team, JNS Jaguars.
Mehul Shah,Vivek Manchanda, Kapil Arora,Keyur Shah and Kunal Zaveri are the five mainstays who look after the JNS Jaguars. The Jaguars is essentially a team of dad’s who are well established in life and are very passionate about cricket . All the players are well settled but they take their cricket just as seriously as their jobs. This common passion and love for the sport has brought this team together ! They play together to relive their school days and to keep themselves fit.
Now into their 5th year, the JNS Jaguars have already won 12 titles and had a trophy-laden 2018-19 season. They won the Bayside Sports School Dads Cricket Championships Gold 2018-19, Zooter International School Dads Championship 2018-19 and were Elite Champions in the My Child My Anchor Tournament 2018-19.
Not only are the JNS Jaguars successful in domestic tours but they are also winning on international grounds. The JNS Jaguars toured Sri Lanka for their first international series in 2017 and won the series 2-1 and haven’t looked back since! This was followed by a tour Down Under where the played against Sydney Shires cricket club and won the series 2-1. In 2018, the JNS Jaguars toured UK and continued their overseas winning streak by beating the middlesex county 2-1. Jaguars also won the series on their Dubai tour in December 2018.
The upcoming season promises to be another thrilling one for The JNS Jaguars as they tour Dehradun, New Zealand, Dubai, Delhi and Goa.
One of the main reasons behind the success of the JNS Jaguars is its international quality coaching staff. Bimesh Shah, a former Ranji player of Mumbai, is the coach of Jaguars alongside Farhad Daruwala, who has played for Gujarat and was also involved in the IPL with Rajasthan Royals. Umesh Patwal, who has coached international teams like Afghanistan and Nepal is the consulting coach of the team.
The Jaguars practice at the Juhu gymkhana throughout the year. The JNS Jaguars are managed by Janus Sportz. The Janus Sportz have invested in all the top class training facilities to ensure the players are in the best possible shape and form. Bowling machines and PitchVision help batsman analyse their game while Speed Guns are used by bowlers to work on their pace.
The Jaguars work just as hard off the field as the work on it. The JNS Jaguars supports Urvashi foundation, a non-profit organisation with the aim to educate and provide opportunity to children across India to learn and excel.
Cricketgraph will be the media partners for JNS Jaguars as they will be aiming for another trophy-laden and an adventurous season ahead. This ‘Dad’s team’ is truly still young at heart.
Just Cricket Team after opting to bat first at Somaiya Cricket Ground posted a stunning total of 227/2 in 20 overs. Karan Chugh opening the innings went on to score a majestic 119* off mere 67 balls. It was an innings where in covered every corner of the ground hitting 9 fours and 7 sixes bringing the right amount of excitement and attention to the South Mumbai Premier League which is in its debut season. Not to forget, Siddarth Gopalkrshnan also played well hitting an unbeaten 74* off 50 balls while also playing the supporting role in the 200* runs unbeaten stand with Karan for the 3rd wicket.
Wicketing Wizards in reply could only manage 152/5 in 20 overs and that too thanks to a late blitz by no.7 batsman Keyur Gandhi who scored 57* off 31 balls which atleast took the team towards a respectable defeat by 75 runs.
It was just the right type of innings to begin a new tournament with as Karan Chugh was declared “man of the match”
Payyade SC vs MIG
Payyade Sports Club after being put to bat first at on MIG’s homeground posted a total of 227/10 in 60 overs. Openers Hersh Tank (39) and Akhil Herwadkar (64) gave a solid start to the innings but the batters below them failed to covert it into a big total. From the bowlers, Ankush Jaiswal and Shreyas Gurav were the pick of the lot with 3 wkts each.
Chasing 229, it was MIG skipper Kevin Almeida once again leading from the front smashing a brilliant 91 off 140 balls. MIG who did face a few jitters were back into the game in no time with no.6 all-rounder Balkrushna Shirke hitting a crucial 52* off 93 balls as MIG won the semi finals by 4 wkts and 8.5 overs to spare.

Parkophene Cricketers vs MCA Colts
MCA Colts batting first at Police Gymkhana, Marine Lines were all out for 144 runs in 29.5 overs. Most of the batsman found it difficult to get going apart from Aatif Shaikh at no.9 scoring a quick 24 ball 31. From Parkophene, it was their left arm quick Royston Dias picking up 6/54 in 13 overs. Royston who also plays for Mumbai showed all his experience at a crucial stage of the tournament.
Parkophene Cricketers in reply chased down the score in 43.2 overs winning the match by 7 wkts. Opener Vikrant Auti (50 off 110) & Amogh Bhatkal (42) top scored for Parkophene in what was a comfortable win steering them into the finals of the tournament.
In the match between Anjuman Islam School and MBHS School at the Youth’s Own Union Wicket posted a mammoth total of 371/8 in 45 overs. Aryan Chauhan opening the innings went on to score a brilliant double hundred batting out entire innings for Anjuman, Aryan scored 203* off 127 balls laced with 34 fours. It was a display of stroking brilliance as he kept on piling runs from the other hand to put Anjuman team in a strong position.
Anjuman Islam in reply bundled out MBHS School for just 55 runs thanks to a stunning spell of spin bowling by Mann Bhanushali. Mann with his effective spin once again proved to be too heavy for the opposition coming up with envious bowling figures of 7/13 in 8.5 overs alongwith 4 maidens as Anjuman Islam School won the match by a heavy margin.
Mann who is already inducted in the Mumbai U14 Probables list took 12 wkts in DSO Tournament this year while he followed it up by taking a 9 wkt haul in the only match his team got to play in the U14 CPCC Tournament leading from the front as a skipper of DY Patil team while now he continues to sizzle in the Giles Shield for his school Anjuman Islam.
Mumbai, 8 December, 2019 : A solid batting performance by Kevin D’Almeida cracked 91 runs helped MIG Cricket Club register a convincing 4-wicket victory against Payyade Sports Club on the second day of their two-day semi-final match of the Eagle Thane Strikers sponsored 72nd Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament 2019, and played at the MIG Cricket ground, Bandra on Sunday.
Payyade resuming at the overnight score of 219 for 8 wickets, in 56 overs, lost the last two wickets for the addition of just eight runs and in four overs. In reply, MIG Cricket Club batsmen were dominant and D’Almeida laid the foundation with a cameo innings. Balkrishna Shirke made a substantial contribution scoring an unbeaten 52 runs to take MIG Cricket Club to victory and a place in the three-day final starting from Saturday, December 14.

Parkophene Cricketers comfortably defeated MCA Colts by 7 wickets at the Police Gymkhana ground, Marine Drive. MCA Colts were dismissed for a paltry 144 in 29.5 overs as left-arm pacer Royston Dias (6 for 54) did the damage. Parkophene Cricketers easily chased the target scoring 146 for 3 wickets, in 43.2 overs. Vikrant Auti (50 runs) and Adib Usmani (42 runs) carried the team to a 7 wickets victory.

Santosh Sports Cricket Academy vs Yuva Multi Sports Dombivali
Santosh Sports Cricket Academy won the toss and elected to bat first scoring 94/7 runs in 20 overs. Yuva Multi Sports Dombivali were all out for 86 runs in 20 overs. Aditya Rai for his gritty knock of 37 runs in 36 balls was declared “man of the match” while Aryan Rohan (21 off 27) and Parth Yohale (3/21 in 4 overs) also gave impressive performances.

Titans Cricket Academy VS Hiranadani School and club
Titans Cricket Academy won the toss and elected to bat first scoring 95/5 in 20 overs. Hiranadani School and Club in reply were all out for 80 runs thanks to some tight bowling by the Titans C.A bowlers. The match also witnessed some impressive individual performances where in Samridha Bhat was declared ‘man of the match’ for his knock of 47 runs in 66 balls which included 5 fours. Samridha proved to be quite handy with the ball too taking 2/9 in 3 overs. Apart from him, Pawan Shrivastava’s quick cameo of 27 runs in 25 balls was one of the highlights of the match.
Today’s match played between at Union Cricket Academy between Santosh Sports Cricket Academy Kalyan and PAB cricket Academy Bhiwandi. PAB won the toss and elected to bat first setting a target of 146 runs for SSCA. Scoring 145/9, Union CA’s highest scorer was Shivam Gupta who made 47 off 65 balls. From the bowlers, it was Soham Diwate with 4/27 in 5.5 overs being the pick of the lot.
Chasing 147 looked like a cakewalk for SSCA, thanks to their star batsman Abhigyan Kundu who once again displayed his batting histrionics smashing 86 off 52 balls laced with 16 fours and 2 sixes. Abhigyan dominated the bowlers with ease while he got good support from Shardul Khanolkar who scored 26 off 58 balls.
Result: SSCA WON THE MATCH BY 8 WKTS.
