Bharat CC after being put to bat first at Shivaji Park, Dadar were bundled out for mere 63 runs in 33.1 overs. The wreckers in chief were none other than the very young 51 yr old Rajesh Pagdhare and Mandar Mayekar coming up with crucial bowling spells. Rajesh came up with a spell of 5/23 in 13 overs alongwith 5 maidens while his counterpart Mandar conceded only 17 runs to claim his 5 wkts in 10.1 overs as both the fast bowlers made life difficult for the opposition. Also the reason we mentioned “very young” to Rajesh Pagdhare is because of his spirit and dedication towards cricket. At the age of 51 he is still touching 130+ with the ball and he aims to play in the upcoming edition of MPL too!

Young Parsee CC on the back of Arvind Tandel’s 44 down the order scored 113/8 dec in 44 overs winning the match on 1st innings lead.

Borivali CC batting first at Azad Maidan registered a total of 168/4 dec in 31 overs. Sushant Kadam at no.3 scored a quickfire 57 off 51 balls while in form all rounder Rakesh Naik scored an unbeaten 72* off 83 balls (8 fours) coming at no.5.

Defending 169, Kerala Windsor CC were all out for 91 runs in 31 overs thanks to the deadly combination of Rakesh Naik and Prathamesh Golatkar. Rakesh Naik and Prathamesh Golatkar since many seasons have been a great spin combination at the local level just reminding you the days when Kumble and Harbhajan used to bowl together at International level.  Prathamesh took 5/27 in 12 overs while Rakesh took 4/36 to help Borivali CC win the match on 1st innings lead. Prathamesh is also bowling well in Times Shield where he had recently taken a fifer.

National CC opting to bat first at Cross Maidan registered a healthy total of 328/9 in 70 overs. Opening the innings, Prathamesh Pawar scored a classy 78 off 114 balls while Sachin Gill coming at no.5 top scored for National CC scoring a strokeful 86 off 112 balls laced with 7 boundaries and 3 sixes. Sachin also received excellent support from Saieed Shaikh who scored 79 off 92 balls at no.6 while also stitched a 152 run stand for the 5th wicket which put National CC in the commanding position. Medium pacer Yogesh Patil was impressive with the ball coming up with good bowling figures of 5/83 in 15 overs.

Mumbai Police Gymkhana in reply witnessed two half centuries from Humayun Hirapure (61) & Yogesh Sawant (61) but apart from them, most of the batsman gave away their wickets after giving starts of 20’s and 30’s which resulted in them falling short of the target by 13 runs. Left arm spinner Shashikant Kadam with 4/139 in 27 overs was the pick of the bowlers for National CC who won the match by 13 runs.

National English High School after opting to bat first at Sainath CC, Virar posted a total of 192/10 in 35.4 overs. In an innings when most of the batters found it difficult to get going, it was their opener Smith Pardeshi top scoring with a solid 56 off 73 balls. Smith smashed some good cricketing shots while kept the scoreboard ticking.

 

St. Anne’s in reply were bundled out for 166 runs in 44.1 overs thanks to a match winning bowling spell of 5/50 in 13.4 overs with 2 maidens. Kate provided breakthroughs at the right time which helped their team win the match by 26 runs.

Shri Barku G Patil T-20 league: The match between Mulund and chembur was played a Trombay Koliwada on 1st December. Toss won by chembur and they decided to bowl first. 

After a decent opening stand, the Mulund team looked good and opener Alok Gangurde scored a fabulous 59 runs off 45 balls. Amol Khedkar, middle order batsman, finished of the innings pretty well taking the score to 170 in 20 overs. The Chembur bowlers tried hitting their lengths but the stand out was Dr. Afsheel, who picked up 4 wickets for 28 runs, out of the 5 overall wickets.

Chasing 171, the batters of chembur team didn’t put up their best performance. Except Dr. Afsheel, who scored a gritty and entertaining knock of 61 runs off 30 balls, which consisted of just 1 four and 7 super sixes. Despite last moment firings, they team fell at the threshold of the target and they ended up at a score 0f 168 runs losing 8 wickets.

Result – Mulund Doctors Team won by 2 runs.

Canara Vijay team batting first on the back of Sachin Rao’s 88 reached a respectable total of 199/8 dec. Sachin coming two down scored a crucial 88 off 90 balls scoring almost half of the team runs while Atharva Chauhan gave good support scoring 46 runs.

Gamdevi Cricketers in reply notched up 107/5 with Aniket Juvekar scoring 48* while all-rounder Sachin Rao picking up 3/20 with the ball too. The match ended in a draw with no 1st innings results being obtained.

In the Quarter finals vs Andhra, Mumbai team batting posted a total of 256/10 in 90 overs. After a shaky start at the top of the order, it was Musheer Khan at no.4 and Ayush Jethwa at no.5 stitching a crucial 63 run stand. Musheer scored a solid 50 off 86 balls while Ayush Jethwa once again relished the pressure smashing a gorgeous 128 off 231 balls. An innings of substance, resistance and patience as jethwa smashed 19 fours and 3 sixes to push his team towards a defendable total.

Andhra in reply were reduced to mere 54 runs all out thanks to an excellent spell by Musheer Khan who came up with a yet another fifer. Young Musheer bamboozled batsman with his spin taking 5/11 in 8 overs coupled with 5 maidens.

Mumbai in the 2nd innings scored 230 runs giving a total target of 432 runs to Andhra to which Andhra were bundled out again for 91 runs in their 2nd innings with this time left arm spinner Anurag Singh proving to be the game changer taking 5/27 in 10 overs. Musheer was effective in the 2nd innings too chipping in with 3/22 as Mumbai won the game by 341 runs and qualify for the semi finals of Vijay Merchant Trophy’19.

Sind SC opting to bat first at Sunder CC, Cross Maidan were all out for 218 runs in 45.2 overs. Left-handed opener Akhil Rajput who is known for his swashbuckling batting top scored with 74 runs off 84 balls (12 fours).

On the other hand, Atif Attarwala from Payyade SC was the pick of the bowlers coming up with an important spell of 5/34 in 9 overs including 2 maidens. Things are finally working out for Atif who recently got selected for the Mumbai team too while his pace and fitness has also witnessed a positive leap since the last few seasons.

Chasing 219 was a mere formality for the Payyade’s batting line up as they chased down the score in under 15 overs. Openers Hersh Tank (33 off 16) and Akhil Herwadkar (20 off 10) set the tone followed by a 19 ball 45 by Parag Khanapurkar at no.3. The stage was set up for the fiery sarfaraz to finish the game in style and he did it with quite some style not only ringing in the fastest half century of this year’s police shield but also going on to score a blazing 85* off mere 35 balls as Payyade SC scored a record 271/7 in just 17.5 overs winning the match on 1st innings lead.

KRP XI batting first mustered a total of 153/10 in their 1st innings where in Padmanabhan Mudaliar top scored with a gritty 53 at a time when most of the batters failed to convert their starts. From Mangrol SC, Narendra Ambavkar was impressive coming up with a fifer taking 5/33 while he got good support from Rohit Bhere who took 3 wkts.

Thanks to Anuj Bhosle and Nitin Surve’s tight bowling, Mangrol SC were all out for 75 runs. Anuj came up with match winning bowling figures of 5/16 while the experienced Nitin Surve who took a 8 wkt haul in his previous outing once again came good taking 4/33 ensuring a win on 1st innings for KRP XI.

MILAN MEGA CORPORATE LEAGUE: The match between Lintas and spartan web solution was played at cross maidan on 30th November, the toss was won by Spartan web solution and they elected to field first which interestingly sufficed Linta’s desire to bat first. The match was organized by Milan cricket club.

The pitch was a batting deck and conditions were perfect for a batting exhibition, rightfully so the two openers of Lintas Vaibhav tyagi and Varun Sabharwal grabbed the opportunity with both hands, Varun went all guns blazing and vaibhav played the second lead, varun carried his bat through the innings mustering a brilliant 116* off only 74 runs which consisted of 19 fours, to his name and vaibhav scored 51 off 43 balls. They put up a score of 186/1 on the board at the end of 20 overs.

Spartan web solution had a huge mountain to climb but despite all attempts they fell short. Rohit kumar, middle order batsman, scored a gritty knock of 51 off 30 balls. Leaving aside 3 batsman all other had single figure scores and inconsistency cost them the match. Having a cushion of 186 runs gave the Lintas the opportunity to experiment with the bowling options, they used 8 different bowlers and the pick of them was left arm orthodox bowler, Vicky Bhatia who picked up 3 scalps. They bowled out Spartan web solution for 133 runs in 17.1 overs.

Result – Lintas won by 44 runs.
