In the MCC U-10 Cricket Tournament 2019 being held at Shivaji Park Dadar, of the 8 teams that participated, Mulund Gymkhana and Pro World Talent Cricket Academy have convincingly reached the finals to be played on 16th December.
At the end of the super League matches round, some young players have made thier presence felt.
8 year old Agastya Kashikar, the baby of the tournament who played for Abhiveera Boys group tops the most wickets chart with 9 wickets. He has also scored 127 runs in his 6 matches. This all-round show at age 8 in the U-10 tournament deserves an applaud.
10 year old Srihann Haridaass playing for Achievers Cricket Academy Chembur tops the chart for most runs with 312 runs to his credit which includes an unbeaten century.
In the last round of super league matches which was just a formality between Mulund Gymkhana and Pro World Talent, as both teams had already qualified for finals, Mulund Gymkhana scored mammoth 208 for no loss in 25 overs with both openers Saif Khan 66 n.o. & Aayush Shinde 83 n.o. making bowlers toil hard. In reply Pro World Talent could manage only 112 with Abhinav Jadhav scoring 50. Dhaviet Pandey bagged 4 wickets for Mulund Gymkhana.
In the other match, Achievers Cricket Academy Chembur comfortably chased the total of 169 set by Abhiveera Boys Group which included captain’s knock of 56 runs by Om Bangar. Achievers Cricket Academy with the help of hard hitting batsman Agneya Aadi who scored 92 runs (45 B, 16 × 4, 1 x 6) chased the total in just 19.4 overs.

Mumbai, 14, December 2019 : Powered by opening batsman Jay Bista’s solid century (196 runs) knock Parkophene Cricketers are placed in quite a commanding position having amassed a score of 337 for the loss of 6 wickets in 88 overs in the first innings against MIG Cricket Club on the opening day of their three-day final of the Eagle Thane Strikers sponsored 72nd Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament 2019, and played at the Police Gymkhana ground, Marine Drive on Saturday.
Electing to field first the MIG Cricket Club bolwers toiled hard but were unable to contain the Parkophene batters and in particular Bista who played aggressively and dominated the rival attack but was unlucky to fall four runs short of a double ton. He was caught by Vinit Dhulap off Ankush Jaiswal’s bowling. Bista’s huge innings came off 243 balls and was studded with 21 hits to the ropes and three sixes.
Bista was associated in two substantial parterships. First he along with left-hander Sagar Mishra (37 runs) put on 133 runs for the fourth wicket and later Bista and Anshul Gupta (batting 61) stitched together a 105 stand for the sixth wicket.
Ankush Jaiswal (2 for 66), Nikhil Date (2 for 101) and Vinit Dhulap (2 for 115) were the Parkophene bowlers who succeeded in getting the wickets.

Jolly Friend Sports Matunga 1 Premier league 2019-20 – DWS took on Anonymous Knight (ANONYM) at Dadar union cricket ground, Matunga on 7th December. ANONYM won the toss and chose to BAT first. The match was organized by Jolly Friends sports Club, Mumbai.
ANONYM openers Varun Madnani and Rajesh Menon put up some splendid performances in the middle and put up 87 runs for the first wicket, Varun scored 68 runs off 38 balls. Apart from them, middle order batsman Satish Yadav scored a swashbuckling inning of 93 runs off 31 balls, consisting of 12 long sixes and 3 fours. With endeavors of these three batsmen, they reached a mammoth score of 233 runs in 19.2 overs before getting bowled out. For DWS, Subhash picked a hard earned figure of 4 for 31 in 4 overs.
To chase a score of 234 runs, DWS needed big partnerships but they had only one such partnership. No.3 batsman Dharmesh scored 59 runs off 46 balls and Middle order batter Vaibhav pote scored 53 quick runs off 32 balls consisting 2 sixes and 6 fours but despite these brave efforts, the team ended up with only scoring 154 runs off 9 wickets in 20 overs. For ANONYM, almost all the bowlers picked up a wicket and Brijesh Singh picked up 2 wickets.

Sportszone T20 Pune Mix-Corporate Cricket Tournament – On 8th December 2019, 2 matches were played, the 1st between MESCC and REGREEN at Varroc cricket ground and the 2nd between ELENO and MESCC at the same venue. REGREEN pune won the toss and elected to field first and in the second match, MESCC won the toss and elected to bat first. The tournament was organized by Sportszone (JFSC Mumbai).
In the first match, opener Swapnil Walunj scored 38 off 36 for MESCC and they reached a total of 118 runs in 20 overs losing 8 wickets. Shailendra kasbe took 4 wickets for REGREEN but despite some good bowling, the batsmen couldn’t complete their task and they ended up scoring 97 runs in 20 overs losing 9 wickets. Aditya Sidhaye for MESCC took 4 wickets and Omkar Mohol who scored 18 runs in the batting innings also picked up 3 wickets.
Result – MESCC won the match by 21 runs.
The second match was played in the afternoon session, ELENO scored only 83 only in 16.3 overs before getting bowled out and for MESCC, Rohit Hadake picked a 4 wicket haul. Chasing a score of 84 runs, MESCC chased the target easily in just 9.1 overs losing only 2 wickets. Rohit hadake scored 21 runs in 17 balls remaining not out along with Chinmay patil.
Result – MESCC won the match by 8 wickets.

Played at the High Court Oval Ground between JP Morgan & Union Bank of India, JP Morgan opting to bat first posted a total of 231/9 dec in 61.5 overs. JP Morgan who were losing wickets continuously got back into the game thanks to a solid 96 off 166 balls by their captain Nikhil Jadhav. Coming at no.5 Nikhil smashed 9 boundaries while kept the scoreboard ticking taking the team from 65/5 to 231/9 dec in 61.5 overs.
In what turned out to be a neck to neck match, Union Bank of India also fought it hard with the help of their no.3 batsman Mihir Agarwal who scored 90 off 176 balls alongiwith Farhan Shaikh scoring a almost match winning 45 at no.7.
However, Union Bank of India were all out for 229 runs in 66.2 overs as skipper Nikhil Jadhav took a brilliant caught and bowled at a time when only 3 runs were required with one wicket to win! Nikhil overall took 3/84 while Umesh Panchal with 3/59 was the pick of the lot as JP Morgan won the match by 3 runs.

Played between Billabong High School Thane and Chandrakant Patkar Vidyalaya Dombivali at the SPCA Ground in Dombivali, CPVD after being put to bat first managed to scored 130/10 in 18.2 overs. No.3 batsman Ayush Ghare top scored with a fearless knock of 43 runs in 27 balls laced with 8 fours and one six. Amongst the bowlers, it was Naman Sheth who came with a brilliant spell of 5/10 in 4 overs along with one maiden. It was spot on bowling by Naman who meant business out there coming up with timely breakthroughs.
Billabong High School in reply were all out for 47 runs thanks to some tight bowling by the Chandrakant Pandit bowlers. Billabong’s innings registered 7 ducks in what was a dismal batting performance whil Rajdeep Pawse (3/9 in 3 overs) & Yash Kolhe (2/4 in 2 overs with a maiden) proved to be the game changing bowlers as Chandrakant Patkar Vidyalaya Dombivali won the match by 83 runs. Rajdeep Pawse for his tight bowling was declared ‘man of the match’

Chembur Gymkhana batting first at Azad Maidan at one stage were 3 down for 17 runs and it required someone to build a strong partnership to revive their innings. Fortunately for Chembur Gymkhana team, Jayesh Mhatre and Saurabh Salvi stitched 118 run stand for the 4th wicket pushing their team towards a respectable total. Saurabh scored a match saving 86 off 123 balls (12 fours) at no.4 while Jayesh Mhatre coming at no.5 scored 54 off 84 balls (5 fours).
Merry Cricketers in reply scored 177/8 in 28 overs with Aadesh K top scoring with 48 off 28 balls. Merry Cricketers tried their best to play as fast as they could to ensure a win on 1st innings lead. However, the match ended in a draw with no 1st innings results being obtained.
Mumbai, December 14: The 9th edition of the Santosh Kumar Ghosh Trophy U-16 Boys Tournament is scheduled to start at Shivaji Park Gymkhana and Matunga Gymkhana from December 17. Sixteen teams from clubs affiliated to Mumbai Cricket Association will participate in the tournament in which matches will be played over the two-day’s format on a knockout basis. The basic principle is to help youngsters to understand the needs or demands of first-class and Test cricket early during their careers. Former India pace bowler from Mumbai will inaugurate the tournament on December 17 at Shivaji Park.
Organised by Sporting Union Club, an affiliate of the MCA, it has the support of Kalyandas Memorial Sports Foundation, LIC of India and Bank of India. The finals are slated to be held on January 2-3, 2020 at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana.
Last year’s winners New Era CC and runners-up Shantibhai Memorial Team will be vying for the title this year too. The tournament will be watched by the MCA selectors to spot talent in the U-16 age group. With 16 teams on view 256 players would have the opportunity to exhibit their talent. To be played under the MCA rules the matches will be supervised by the association umpires with support from official scorers.
The organizers are offering ‘Man of the match’ awards besides special awards for the Best batsman, Best bowler and the ‘Player of the tournament’.
The winners and runners-up will be awarded the Santosh Kumar Ghosh and Kalyandas Memorial Sports Foundation Trophy respectively.
BRD CC after opting to bat first posted a total of 136/10 in 49.2 overs with middle order players Santosh B (39) and Pratik Naik (35) chipping in with crucial 30’s. Amongst the bowlers, it was the experienced Paras Shah once again proving to be the most effective of the lot taking 5/37 in 20 overs with 8 maidens.
Defending 136, the pressure was obviously more on BRD CC bowlers to restrict Dahisar SC under the stipulated total. Thanks to their in-form spinner Prathamesh Goad who came up with excellent bowling figures of 6/33 in 10.4 overs. Prathamesh was spot on with the ball as he changed the game single handedly to restrict Dahisar SC to 116 runs all out in 33.4 overs winning the match on 1st innings lead.
Left arm spinner Prathamesh who took a brilliant 7/30 in his previous outing seems to be in a purple patch with the ball.
Reliance GSC opting to bat first at the New Hind Ground registered a total of 219/10 in 53.1 overs. Prathamesh Pawar coming at no.7 top scored with 71 runs in 60 balls laced with 7 fours and 5 sixes. Defending 220 vs Automotive Team, it was Nishant Williams proving to be the wild card of Reliance Team as he came up with a match winning bowling spell.

Nishant took 6/47 in 8.3 overs providing wickets at almost every over he came to bowl while he was nicely supported by Meghan Pednekar who took 4/43 in 11 overs restricting Automotive CC to 129 runs all out in 33.3 overs. Sachin Sanghvi was the lone fighter for Automotive scoring a gritty 46 off 102 balls though he lacked support from the other end.
Result- Reliance GSC won the match by 90 runs.
