In the match between Balmohan Vidyamandir and NKES School Sion at the New Hind Ground, Balmohan Vidyamandir batting first posted a humungous total of 549/4 in 39 overs. The architect of this innings was Saiprasad Mane who went on to score a thrilling knock of 207*off 160 balls which had 28 fours and 8 sixes. Saiprasad dismantled the bowlers with effortless ease while Sarthak Patil (53) and Atharva Mane (48) gave crucial contributions too in the match.

NKES School in reply were cleaned up for just 22 runs in 11.2 overs thanks to the star player of the match Saiprasad Mane coming up with 6 wkts for 6 runs in 4 overs. This is the 1st time in Giles Shield this year that a double centurion has come up with a 5 wkt haul in the same match as Balmohan Vidyamandir won the match by a record margin of 527 runs

Saiprasad who is is Mumbai probables has certainly stamped his presence with a super all-round performance.

Played between BMC and Century Rayon at the Central Maidan, Thane, BMC Security batting first were bundled out for just 116 runs in 22 overs. In an otherwise dismal batting performance, Prakash Gohil top scored with 52 runs off 42 balls while the bowler who inflicted maximum damage was Pradeep Pandey who ensured BMC were reduced to a low total.

Medium pacer Pradeep Pandey came up with excellent bowling figures of 6/18 in 5 overs alongwith 2 maidens as Century Rayon chased down the score in just 13.5 overs winning the match by 8 wkts.

In the match between Sporting Union Club and Shantibhai Seth CC at the Shivaji Park Ground, Shantibhai Seth CC batting first posted a total of 278/8 dec in 79.1 overs on the back of some solid half centuries from their middle order batsman Manthan Korgaonkar (73) & Arya Raut (57). From the bowlers, Atharva Bhosle with 4/76 was the pick of the lot while Ritesh Nalawade with 3/116 was the 2nd best.

Sporting Union Club in reply posted 297/6 in 72 overs winning the match on 1st innings. Opener Janak Bhoir and Ashutosh Balla smashed half centuries while it was Shubham Shinde turning the tables hitting a match winning knock of 134 runs in 173 balls laced with 16 boundaries.

 It was an effortless dominance towards the bowlers as Shubham ensured his team stayed at the top throughout the match.

 

Sportszone present Pune T20  mix corporate cricket tournament 2019-20, Pune 7 Dec. 2019 : Venkys Pune took on Tata consultancy services on 14th December at Verrock Vengsarkar cricket ground, Pune. Tata consultancy services won the toss and chose to BAT first. The pitch was suitable for fast bowlers, offering even bounce to them.

TCS had an extremely good 2nd wicket partnership of 99 runs, Sandeep Sanghai scored 43 runs and Gaurav Bhalerao scored a quick 51 off 36 balls. With few other batters chipping in the score soared to 174 runs losing 8 wickets. For Venkys, Sujit Ubale and Shubham Sutar picked up couple of wickets.

The chase wasn’t a cakewalk for Venky’s batsman and adding to that the top order batsman failed to maintain partnerships. Lower order batsmen Jayesh Rathod(51 off 36) and Amit Singh went all guns blazing in the middle.

The duo went ahead with all their grit when they needed 90 runs in just 6 overs, with their wonderful effort they brought down the equation to 12 runs in the last over. Amit got out in the 4th ball of the last over after hitting a six and very dramatically, no. 7 Omar Akhade scored a 4 in the last ball to seal their wins when they needed 2 runs in the last ball. TCS’s bowlers also bowled pretty well, Abhimanyu Chavan and Tejpal Singh Picked up 2 wickets each.

Result – Venkyspune won the match by 3 wickets.

Played between Avinash Salvi Foundation and Hiranandani School & Club at the SPCA ground, Avinash Salvi Foundation after being put to bat first scored a record total of 222/3 in 20 overs. Opener Abhigyan Kondu smashed the highest ever individual score of U12 Little Champs Tournament going on to smash a blazing 162* off 78 balls. Kondu was in a completely different zone hitting 19 fours and 10 sixes much to the entertainment of his coaches and team mates.

Hiranandani Team in reply were all out for 78 runs thanks to some really tight bowling by the Avinash Salvi Foundation Team’s bowlers. Aditya Khatka took 3/8 in 3 overs while Mann Bhanushali bowled an equally impressive spell of 2/12 in 3.4 overs helping their team win by 144 runs.

This match also witnessed highest team total in the history of U12 Little Champs Tournament alongwith highest individual score achieved by Abhigyan.

Pulse White Ball T20 corporate cup: The match between CITI and VIACOM 18 was played at New Hind – Matunga Gymkhana on 14th December.

CITI won the toss and set out to bat first. The pitch was a belter to bat on and the short boundaries only widened the smile of the batters.

CITI’s 1st wicket partnership of Mangesh Palav and Sagar chemburkar wrecked havoc in the middle and both of them went bonkers. Mangesh Palav scored a diligent 55 but the eyecatcher was Sagar who solidified his innings into a Smacking ton with 12 sixes, he was not out at 107 runs. They reached a colossal score of 269 runs in 20 overs.Interestingly, Sagar scored 32 runs off a single over consisting of 5 sixes. No.4 Sanket and Captain Rahul Soni also shined with the bat putting the final touches to the total.

VIACOM 18 had ginormous task ahead of them and they succumbed to the task and were bowled out for 78 runs only. The CITI bowlers enjoyed their outing with Sagar, Alok and Rahul getting 2 wickets under their belt. They tried 9 different options to grease their bowling line up and they successfully did so along with a comprehensive win.

Result – CITI won the match by 192 runs.

Taki Team batting first at Worli Sports Club Ground posted a total of 172/5 in 32 overs. Last match centurion & opener Jerviis Ambosta once again came good with a solid half century scoring 60 off 77 balls while Bhagyesh Narkhede scored an unbeaten 43* off 54 balls at the lower middle order.

Defending 176, Achievers SC were cleaned up for 162/10 in 48.1 overs thanks to Taki’s in form spinner Vishal Adagatla who has made a brilliant comeback post injury. Vishal came up with bowling figures of 6/60 in 16.1 overs as he took important top & middle order wickets to inflict maximum damage on the opposition.

Taki Team won the match on 1st innings lead while Vishal now has 36 wkts in 9 games with 2 fifers becoming the table topper of F Div Kanga League’19

Utpal Warriors batting first at Somaiya Ground posted a competitive total of 149/9 in 20 overs. Even though they did not have a single batsman managing a score of 40 or 50+ but their top order batsman consisting of Ravi Kapoor (22), Jinen Shah (24) & Kalpesh Mehta (26) all chipped in with starts while Hardik’s unbeaten 14* off 7 balls down the order gave the perfect finishing touch to Utpal Warriors Innings. From the bowlers, Alif Malkani (2/20), Anees Andawala (2/27) & Shams Lakhani (2/32) were the pick of the bowlers.

Fazlani United in reply managed to score only 131/7 in 20 overs with Shams Lakhani at no.3 top scoring with a hard fought 36 off 33 balls. Vishal Merwana once again proved to be the game changer with the ball coming up with economical bowling figures of 3/18 in 4 overs with a maiden steering his team towards an 18 runs win to win the knockout.

Vishal Merwana was declared “man of the match’ for his excellent bowling while Shams Lakhani receiving “Best Performance” award for his all-round contribution.

KCC opting to bat first at Somaiya Cricket Ground could muster a modest total of 134/8 in 20 overs. Despite a solid top order start with opener Kunal Chandawala scoring a 58 ball 69 & Tenzing Niyogi scoring a quick 36, the batters below them could not capitalize and convert it into a big score. The bowlers from Just Cricket kept it tight with Amit Nayyar’s 2/16 in 3 overs being the best bowling figures.

Chasing 135, it was a flying start by their openers Indrajit and Karan Chugh who put on 70 runs for the 1st wicket under 10 overs. Indrajit pal anchored the chase with an unbeaten 67* off 51 balls laced with 5 fours and 3 sixes as Just Cricket chased down the total comfortably in 15.3 overs winning the match by 7 wkts.

Punjab after being put to bat first were all out for 142 runs in 64.5 overs. Mumbai bowlers were spot on with their line and length coming up with timely breakthroughs. Young prodigy Musheer Khan was the pick of the bowlers coming up with 5/42 in 17.5 overs alongwith 8 maidens.

Mumbai team in reply scored 343/10 in 121.2 overs snatching a big 1st innings lead of 201 runs. Opener Swayam Waghmare scored a very solid 64 off 176 balls while Aditya Pawar at no.6 top scored with a brilliant 86 off 179 balls. The icing on the cake for Mumbai was their lower order where in Anurag Singh at no.9 scored 46 & Prince Badiani at no.10 scored 49 pushing Mumbai towards a big total.

With a 2nd innings trail of 201 runs, Punjab were all out for 151 runs thanks to a match winning spell by Musheer Khan who again came with a fifer taking 5/59 in 23 overs coupled with 7 maidens. Ayush Jethwa also bagged 5 wkts in the match as Mumbai became the winners of the Under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy’19,

In captainship of Aayush Jethwa Mumbai emerged the Champions. Aayush overall scored 405 runs and took 18 wkts with 2 centuries and 1 half century under the coaching of Dinesh Lad sir. Mumbai’s batting has always been a strong point but in this season the bowlers including the likes of Musheer Khan (30 wkts in 4 matches), Prince Badiani, Zaid, Anurag, Arjun have all been effective as it has been a complete team performance throughout the tournament.
