In the semifinals of U16 Sontosh Kumar Ghosh trophy played between Evergreen Sports Club and United CC. at Shivaji Park Dadar . Evergreen won the toss and elected to bat, despite the early loss of wickets Evergreen managed to put a score of 276 on the back of their captain Sumit Mishra’s brilliant 101 runs off 132 balls (18 fours).
In return, United CC could manage to score 123 runs while Sumit Mishra was declared “Man of the Match”. In this tournament, this was Sumit’s second century signaling his ominous form with the bat. In other semifinal which took place, Police Gymkhana defeated SPG to enter the finals.
Finals will be played at Shivaji Park Gymkhana on 2nd and 3rd January 2020

Brothers Club batting first at Cross Maidan posted a total of 241/9 in 44 overs. Opener Akash Suryavanshi top scored hitting a classy 82 off 93 balls (7 fours, 4 sixes) while all-rounder Rakesh Naik at the middle order scored 58 off 58 balls. From the bowlers, Padmanabhan Mudaliar with 4/41 in 9 overs was the pick of the lot.
Defending a total of 242, medium fast pacer Balwant Dodake came up with a match winning spell of 5/28 in 9 overs. Balwant was spot on with the ball providing timely breakthroughs as he plucked crucial top order wickets. Himank Gupta (61) & Akshad Redekar (85) scored fighting half centuries but that did not seem to be enough to chase down the total as Brothers Club restricted KRP XI to 206 runs all out winning the match by 36 runs.
Anjuman Islam after being put to bat first at Azad Maidan’s Parsee Cyclists wicket posted a total of 275/9 in 45 overs. Opener Abhigyan Kondu who came fresh from a very quick 175 in the Little Champs tournament smashed a brilliant 106 runs to anchor his team towards a respectable total. Apart from him, Sujit Dalvi and Nikhil Bhagat chipped in with 30’s. From the bowlers, Roshan Gupta with 3/71 was the pick of the lot.
Defending a total of 275, Oxford Public School were all out for 63 runs in 33.4 overs. Mumbai U14 Probables this year Mann Bhanushali bowled a tight spell of 3/30 in 15 overs which included 6 maidens. Mann in his previous game also bowled just a single over where he came up with two wickets for his school.
Manas Mukadam on the other hand was the pick of the bowlers for Anjuman as he bagged 4/6 in 9.5 overs including 6 maidens as both these bowlers made life difficult for the Oxford School players.
Anjuman Islam School won the match by a margin of 212 runs.
Batting first at PJ Hindu Gymkhana’s ground, Young Comrade CC notched up a total of 232/10 in 52.4 overs. With an early blow for Young Comrade where in they lost a wicket even before opening their account, it was Mayuresh Tandel who anchored the innings with a solid 112 off 136 balls. Mayuresh smashed 13 fours and 4 sixes to bring his team back in the hunt. Apart from him, opener Swapnil Bivalkar (43) & Taranjit Dhillon (36) came in handy with their knocks. Left arm experienced spinner Salil Agharkar came up with an excellent spell of 5/76 in 16 overs.
PJ Hindu Gymkhana on their own ground were cleaned up for 106 runs all out thanks to Jay Nayak’s 3 wkts for just 1 run in 1.5 over which dented a big blow. Parag Mistry’s 3 quick top order wickets was the right start to dominate the opposition while Mayuresh also chipped in with the ball coming up with 2 wickets for 6 runs.
Result-Young Comrade CC won the match by 126 runs
Royal Falcons batting first at Vengsarkar Academy Ground in Mahul posted a more than decent total of 166/8 in 20 overs. Royal Falcons who were struggling at one stage with 22/3 and 68/5 got back into the game thanks to a blazing half century by Chintan Seth. Chintan coming at no.5 scored 70* off 50 balls (10 fours, 1 six) while Prasad’s quick 23 off 14 down the order pushed the team towards a competitive target. From the bowlers, Prashant Hodawadekar with 3/19 in 4 overs alongwith a maiden was the pick of the bowlers.
Dynamites who were off to a brilliant start with openers Shahen Mistry (70* off 59) & Nauman Menon (41 off 39) putting on 70 runs looked clear favorites for a successful chase. However, not a single batsman below these two could convert their scores in two digits which led to their sudden downfall aided by all rounder Chintan Seth who turned out to be the best bowler with bowling figures of 4/27 in 4 overs.

Chintan speaking with Cricketgraph said “Initially the wicket was a little two paced, was difficult to strike it cleanly but I managed to go through the difficult phase which helped me build the innings so that at the death end I could increase the rate of scoring as the match progressed the wicket got better to bat on which helped me use it to my advantage. I came in when the team was 3 wickets down with just 22 runs on board within the power play so needed to anchor the innings & put up a respectable score which we could defend”
Chanawala Challengers T-40 Trophy 2019-20 – The match between SOTC Travel Limited and tech Mahindra ITI Andheri was played at New Era Cricket Ground, Azad Maidan on 21st December. SOTCTL won the toss and chose to field first.
TMITI’s top order failed to provide a steady base and at a stage they were 2-33. Akshay Lanjekar, middle order batsman, scored a gritty knock of 85 runs off 77 balls. His innings along with the healthy contribution of 31 runs by Jatin Dudhani gave them a solid platform for a good score. Sandeep Mundaye (49 off 32) imparted the final touch to innings to boost the score to 234 runs in 40 overs. They lost 5 wickets in the process.
Riyaz Shaikh for the SOTCTL picked up couple of wickets.
SOTCL had the same opening failure but they found some stability during the partnership between Rahil Shaikh (40 off 58) and Rajesh Pednekar (33 off 53) that took them to a score of 85 in 20.4 overs. Unfortunately for them, they were let down by string of wickets after the partnership although Sachin Sawant (43 off 43 balls) tried to revive the innings but in vain. They were bowled out for 201 runs in 39.4 overs.
For TMITI Vicky Chorge and Achleshwar Maurya earned 2 wickets each.
Result – Tech Mahindra ITI WON the match by 33 runs.

Recently in the ongoing Jolly Friend Sports Shivaji Park Premier League’19, Salil Charaya from Digital Broadcast team smashed the fastest hundred of the tournament. Salil who came in at no.5 went on to score a blazing 108* off mere 46 balls which had 15 fours and 4 sixes at as strike rate of 255.00! Salil also stitched a 150 run stand with the opener Jatin Sharma who scored 69* which had helped his team win the match against TNP by 34 runs. An innings like this surely deserved an award and Salil was declared the Automotive Orange Cap Winner for the month of November’19
Tanmay Lal-Automotive Purple Cap Winner for the month of November’19
Tanmay Lal was rightly awarded the Purple Cap on the back of his brilliant of 4/13 in 4 overs in the Jolly Friend Sports Shivaji Park Premier League’19. Defending his team MCA SP’ total of 236 runs, it was Tanmay who came with commendable bowling figures to restrict Royal Falcons to just 123/8 in 20 overs. Bowling figures like Tanmay’s 4/13 are always impressive in a T20 Format where bowlers are usually given a beating!
Sarvesh Jadhav-Automotive Yellow Cap Winner for the month of November’19
Sometimes, all it takes is just one performance to get popular amongst your cricket mates and Sarvesh Jadhav seems to be one such player who has a good social connect in the corporate cricket community. Sarvesh who is a right handed batsman and a medium fast bowler recently came up with an impressive spell of 3/8 in 2 overs playing for Rising Vision. Rising Vision had won that particular match vs Kurla Knight Riders by a big margin of 136 runs. In the Most Popular Player category of Corporate Cricket for the month of November, Sarvesh bagged 215 votes as he won by a big margin. The closest competitor was Prathamesh Masurkar who lost by 160 votes.

45th Thane Vaibhav 35 over Cricket Tournament 2019 – VOLTAS sports club VS WNS Global Services, played at Dadoji Kondadev Stadium, Thane on 9th December. Toss won by WNS Global and VOLTAS were put to bat first.
As the pitch was a flat deck, the bowlers of WNS Global used a different strategy to put the pressure on the VOLTAS batsmen; the bowlers were enticing the batsmen to hit on the off side and had packed up the off side. Off spinner Kiran Desai bowled a splendid spell of 4-43 in 7 overs, backing him up Right arm medium bowler Rahul Kirodian bowled a tight spell of 3-25.The VOLTAS batsmen fell prey to that and ended up only scoring 82 runs in 18.2 over. It was all hara-kiri in the middle with all the batsmen failing to steady the innings.
Getting a slight taste of the pitch, the WNS Global batters went all guns blazing with intent to get the match done in the earliest time. They did that successfully in just 11 overs losing 2 wickets. Opener Ajinkya Patil scored a quick 33 off 29 balls.

Titans batting first at Somaiya Ground were bundled out for a low total of 78 runs in 13.3 overs. It was some excellent bowling on display as the bowlers did not allow the batsman to score runs freely while kept on taking wickets at regular intervals. Vivek Singh was the pick of the lot with 3/25 in 4 overs while Kapil Popat, Amar Chopra and Sachin Ambre bagged 2 wkts each in what turned out to be a collective bowling performance.
Wicketing Wizards in reply chased down the total in 14.3 overs winning the match by 4 wkts. With 5 down for 23 runs, even they faced some hiccups while chasing but it was Jimit Ganatra’s unbeaten 30* off 29 balls and Vivek Singh’s 20 ball 13 which helped the team sail through.
