Mumbai, May 5: Jay Jain’s blistering 38-ball 75 runs knock and Omkar Mandrekar’s fine bowling effort of 3 for 31 runs paved the way for Parsee Gymkhana to register a 20-run victory against National Cricket Club in a quarter-final match of the John Bright CC organized MCA Rathod Trophy Under-25 Invitation T20 cricket tournament 2022-2023, played at the Parsee Gymkhana ground.

Parsee Gymkhana batting first posted a fighting total of 182 for 7 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Besides Jay’s rapid innings which was studded with seven boundaries and four powerful sixes, the others who contributed to the big total was Rushikesh More 33 runs and Aarya S. 28 runs. National CC bowlers Atharva Poojari 2 for 26 and Prabhakar P. 2 for 42 claimed the wickets.

Later, Parsee Gymkhana bowled and fielded well to restrict National CC to 162 for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Rahul Kodavoor 47 runs and Rudra Dhanday 41 runs tried to force National’s chase, but all their efforts went in vain.

In another quarter-finals match, Shivaji Park Gymkhana batting first scored 156 for 6 wickets in 20 overs and then bowled out P.J. Hindu Gymkhana for 136 runs in 19.4 overs to clinch a 20-run victory.

The other two teams to advance to the semi-finals are MIG Cricket Club who defeated Sind Sports Club by a fighting 11 runs and Payyade Sports Club having recorded an 8-wicket win against hosts John Bright Cricket Club in a low-scoring match.

Mumbai, May 3: The standout performances of Shlok Yadav who claimed 8 wickets for 25 runs and the superb innings by Omkar Koli who is batting on 82 runs has put Dharavi Centre in a strong position against Matunga Centre on the first day of their 2-day first round match of the 26th Late Ajit Naik Memorial Under-14 selection trials cricket tournament 2022, organised by WSC under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Matunga Gymkhana ground on Wednesday.

Dharavi Centre electing to field troubled the Matunga batsmen and Shlok did most of the damage to bundle out the opposition for a paltry 102 runs in 29.4 overs in the first innings. Ved Tendulkar was the lone batsman who managed to score 37 runs. Shlok finished with impressive figures (9.4-5-25-8). Later, Omkar dominated the Matunga bowling and his 125-ball knock which contains 16 hits to the boundary ropes, helped Dharvai Centre reach a healthy total of 153 runs for 2 wickets in 42 overs at stumps on Day-1.

Meanwhile, Vidhiraj Shukla also shared the opening day honours. Vidhiraj batted confidently in scoring an unbeaten 163 runs which propelled Tarapur Vidya Mandir Centre to a huge total of 275 runs all out in 80 against PDTSA Centre at the end of first day’s play.

Mumbai, May 4: The remarkable all-round showing from Vedant Gore excellent bowling picking 10 wickets (6 for 28 & 4 for 47) in the match and a steady century knock (107 runs) in the first innings was the highlights of Nerul Centre’s outright innings and 23 runs victory against Chembur Centre on the second day of their 2-day first round match of the 26th Late Ajit Naik Memorial Under-14 selection trials cricket tournament 2023, organised by WSC under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the BARC ground, Chembur on Thursday.

Chembur Centre batting first were bowled out for 105 runs in the first innings and Nerul Centre riding on Vedant’s century made 235 runs all out in their first essay and grabbed a 130 runs lead. Vedant once again tormented the Chembur Centre batters and dismissed them for 107 runs to complete a comprehensive win. This was the only match which witnessed an outright win.

Meanwhile, Vidhiraj Shukla had the honours of recording the first double century knock scoring an unbeaten 216 runs as Tarapur Vidya Mandir Centre amassed a massive total of 372 for 3 wickets in their first innings against PDTSA CC. However, the match ended in a draw as PDTSA in the 1st innings reached 156 for 9 wickets at stumps on Day-2.

Vasai Centre inspired by Yuvraj Patil’s fine bowling efforts of 4 for 21 (1st innings) and 3 for 57 (2nd innings) and Nathaniel Ferreira’s century knock of 125 runs enabled them to defeat Nallasopara Centre on the basis of gaining the first innings lead.

In a one-sided final of the Times Shield A Division, Mumbai Customs emerged victorious over Jain Irrigation by virtue of their dominant batting display. The match, which was played at a local cricket ground, saw Mumbai Customs put up a mammoth total of 477 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in their first innings, thanks to some brilliant performances by their top-order batsmen.

Mumbai Customs won the toss and elected to bat first, and their decision proved to be a wise one. Parag Khanapurkar was the top scorer for Mumbai Customs, with a brilliant knock of 122 runs off 177 balls, including 14 fours and 1 six. He was well supported by Swapnil Pradhan, who scored 93 runs off 170 balls, and Aishwarya Surve, who scored 84 runs off 109 balls. Pushkaraj Chavan also played a crucial role, scoring 58 runs off 82 balls.

In response, Jain Irrigation struggled to build momentum, managing only 221 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in their first innings. Jay Bista was the top scorer for Jain Irrigation, with a gritty knock of 96 runs off 148 balls. Yash Nahar also played well, scoring 33 runs off 41 balls. Pushkaraj Chavan was the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai Customs, taking an impressive 5 wickets for 53 runs in his 17 overs. Dhrumil Matkar also bowled well, taking 3 wickets for 55 runs in his 14.5 overs.

In the end, Mumbai Customs won the game by virtue of their first innings lead, and Jain Irrigation conceded the match. It was a dominant performance by Mumbai Customs, who showcased their talent and skill throughout the match. They will look to carry this momentum forward in their upcoming matches, while Jain Irrigation will look to bounce back from this defeat and come back stronger in the next season.

After a grueling round of 16 in the Thane Premier League, 8 teams advanced to the quarter finals of the tournament. The first quarter final was played between Ambernath Rising CC and Shivansh CC as the former narrowly edged out the latter. After putting into bat, Ambernath Rising put up a competitive total of 174 in 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Middle order batsmen Shubham Punyarthi (62 off 38) and Prasad Pawar (67 off 38) causing most of the damage forming a crucial partnership of 64 for the 3rd wicket. Left arm spinner Karsh Kothari bowled an economical spell of 2/20 in 4 overs with a maiden.

Shivansh CC lost timely wickets despite top order batsmen getting decent starts. Nikhil Patil’s 38-ball 69 keeping Shivansh CC’s hopes alive but after his dismissal, the team could muster up only 165 as they were bowled out in the final over. Parag Patil’s 5 wicket haul proved to be decisive as well as economical and was named as the Man of the Match for his match-winning spell.

In the second quarter finals of the Thane Premier League: Chief Minister Trophy 2023, SR’s Group won an the game comfortably against Boys CC. Batting first, Boys CC could score just 152 in 20 overs, losing half the side throughout the innings. Opener Aditya Rawat and Yogesh Dongre scored 48 a piece. Apart from them, no batsman got going and succumbed to the restrictive bowling. Vaibhav Mali from SR’s Group was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2 wickets in 4 overs and conceding just 13 runs.

SR Group’s batsmen made quick work of the low-score, chasing it down under 17 overs with 8 wickets in hand. Opener Sagar Mishra played the role of an anchor, scoring run-a-ball 52*, forming a partnership of almost a century with Anand Bais (38* off 18). Apart from them, Shashank Attarde provided the team with a flying start scoring 43 off mere 22 balls and was named as the Man of the Match after claiming a wicket in the 1st innings as well.

In the Under-14 MCA Selection matches, Prabodhan-Goregaon centre emerged victorious by virtue of a first innings lead. Bhaydendar Municipal Ground Centre were bowled out for just 150 in 65.1 overs. Mann Sanghvi highscored with 53. From the bowling side, Deep Kanojia claimed 4 as Swayam Wamne claimed 3 wickets. This bowling effort gave them the upper hand.

Prabhodan Goregaon Centre surpassed the total in a comfortable manner. Riding on Hitansh Popat’s 53 they managed to score 182, Prodhan centre escaped a scare from Bhayandar’s Offie Adwait Bhatt who picked up 6 wickets for just 37 runs. Despite his best efforts, Prabodhan-Goregaon centre were able to take the first innings lead by 32 runs.

Boys CC Dombivali had a dominating match against Thane Eagle Strikers in the ongoing Thane Premier League: Chief Minister Trophy 2023. After electing to bat first, Boys CC scored a commanding total of 189/7 in 20 overs. The bulk of the runs were scored by centurion Harshal Jadhav, contributing 101 off just 55 balls. His powerpacked innings comprised of 13 fours and 3 sixes. Rushikesh Jadhav was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 wickets in 4 overs.

After a strong display in the first innings, Thane Eagle Strikers were bundled up for just 110 by Boys CC bowlers. Shreyas Gurav (2/5), and Yogesh Patil (2/8) made sure the innings was closed by the 19th over. Bhupen Lalwani tried his level best but Thane Eagle Strikers were short by 79 runs. There were no surprises as Harshal Jadhav was named the Man of the Match.

In the ongoing Thane Premier League: Chief Minister Trophy 2023, Golden Star CC faced Shivansh CC as the latter prevailed comfortably. Shivansh CC scored a total of 200/5 in 20 overs after electing to bat first. Opener Srujan Athawle amassed a 54-ball 85* with 6 fours and 5 sixes. Alongside him, Sanved Vyawahare chipped in a quick-fire 42. The Golden Star bowlers were expensive however Swapnil managed to pick 2 wickets.

As the run chase, Golden Star CC lost early wickets but a spirited knock by Siddhesh Gawande (73 off 44) sparked a fightback. Rahul Kashyap down the order as well scored a brutal 20-ball 57. Despite their best efforts, Golden Star CC were short by 23 runs. Ankeet Chavan’s 4/31 kept Shivansh CC in the game and was named as the Man of the Match for his spell.

Union CC took on Benetton CC in Thane’s prestigious Thane Premier League: Chief Minister Trophy 2023 as the former narrowly edged out in an enticing game of cricket. Union CC put up a score of 188 in 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. No.4 batsman Tushar Chate scored a brutal 85, forming a crucial partnership with Shashwat Jagtap who chipped in a handy 28-ball 51. Benetton CC’s Imroz Khan claimed 4 wickets in 4 overs however he was expensive.

As the runchase began, Benetton lost early wickets as Yogesh Pawar’s 33-ball 62 revived the run chase. Forming a partnership with Nikhil Patil (33 off 23), Benetton got close to the target but ultimately were short by just 8 runs. Karim Mohammad claimed 5 wickets at acrucial stage in 4 overs conceding just 22 runs in a high-scoring game and was named as the Man of the Match for his match-winning spell.

AUCTIONS
