SPORTSZONE T20 (JFSC) PUNE CRICKET TOURNAMENT 2019-20, 4th January, 2020, Pune : The semifinal match witnessed the clash between MES cricket club (MESCC) and Soft Hard (SOFTHARD). The match wad conducted at Varrock Vengsarkar cricket ground, Pune on 4th January 2019-20. Jolly friends sports club organized the match.
MESCC won the toss and elected to FIELD first. The wicket had the typical dampness on it for the first few overs and later it improved.
SOFTHARD after 5 overs were 18 for 2. After that Ajit Gawhane and Praful Mankar stitched a partnership of 44 runs, which was followed by a 49 runs partnership between Ajit and Ashok Gaikwad. Ajit Gawhane steadied the innings at the beginning and later upped the tempo. He scored 51 runs off 37 runs. Ashok Gaikwad put in the final punches at the end providing the fiery finish,he scored 43 runs off only 26 runs. Altogether, they scored a total of 145 runs in 20 overs losing
Kartik Pillai of MESCC picked up couple of wickets for 39 runs.
MESCC’s top order failed miserably and at 9.2 overs they were struggling at 66 for 5. Then Rohit Hadake and Avinash Shinde pulled off an amazing win for their team by building an incredible partnership of 82 runs. They played with a positive outlook with calculated shots and they initially relied on taking clinical singles and double. Eventually both of them scored half centuries, Rohit (52 off 40) and Avinash( 52 off 32 ) both ensured their team cross the winning line and secured a place for them in the finals.
RESULTS- MESCC won the match by 5 wickets.

Utpal Warriors opting to bat first at Somaiya Cricket Ground posted a total of 136/4 in 20 overs which in many cases is easy to chase and sometimes it’s quite tricky too! After a decent opening start by Jinen Shah and Ravi Kapoor, it was Kalpesh Mehta at no.4 top scoring with 41* off 37 balls (3 fours), Kalpesh as always has proved to be the Mr.Dependable for his team as he time and again comes up with crucial knocks. From the bowlers, Mittal Joshi with 2/22 was the pick of the lot.
Super Strikers in reply could not chase down a not so threatening total on the boards as bowlers of Utpal Warriors did a commendable job. Raj Gogate’s 31 was the only score which could pose some trouble as most of the batters found it difficult to get going.
The match turned out to be a last over thriller but Utpal Warriors got the better of the opposition as they restricted Super Strikers to 127/all out in 20 overs. Vishal Merwana was spot on with bowling figures of 3/21 in 4 overs while Shakti Kapoor with 3/19 in 4 overs was equally impressive.

Result-Utpal Warriors win semis by 11 runs, Vishal Merwana (11 &3 wkts) declared “Player of the Match” & Raj Gogate (31 runs & 1 wicket) declared “Star Player of the Match”
Bhatnagar Sports & Cultural Foundation batting first at Parsee Gymkhana posted a very healthy total of 341/8 in 70 overs. With a dismal top order start with scoreboard reading 33/3, it was Yash Salunke and Dhanraj Shinde at no.4 & 5 stitching a game changing stand of 189 runs for the 5th wicket. While Yash displayed a solid composure holding fort en-route his 123* off 191 balls (10 fours), it was the big man Dhanraj Shinde once again showing his hitting capabilities. Dhanraj scored a stunning knock of 135 runs in mere 66 balls which had as many 13 sixes and 7 fours. Dhanraj who scored the fastest Kanga ton last year now adds one more feather to his cap with the fastest hundred in Purshottam Shield Tournament.

Regal CC in reply were all out for 287 runs with Sumedh Kamble (73) and Tushar Armarkar (47*) being the top scorers. Left arm spinner Akshay Darekar also played a crucial role in Bhatnagar’s win by 54 runs as he came up with a spell of 4/75 in 22.4 overs.
Played at the iconic Dadaji Konddev Stadium, Thane, it was Bengal which witnessed a batting collapse after electing to bat first getting all out for just 91 runs in their 1s innings. Fast Bowler Minad Manjrekar with 4/14 in 9 overs alongwith 3 maidens was spitting fire in the early sessions while spinner Shreyas Gurav chipped in with 4/21 in 8.2 overs.

Mumbai in reply posted a gigantic total dominating Bengal bowlers in supreme fashion. After a decent top order start with Aman Khan (49) & Hardik Tamore (41) chipping in with 40’s, it was Agni Chopra at no.4 & Chinmay Sutar at no.6 putting on a massive 343 run stand for the 5th wicket. Left hander Agni Chopra smashed a brilliant 201 off 247 balls (21 fours & 7 sixes) while Chinmay Sutar was at his elegant best hitting a solid 142 off 200 balls laced with 11 fours and 5 sixes as Mumbai posted a 1st innings total of 547/10 in 117 overs.

With a massive 2nd innings trail of 456 runs, Bengal had no chance but to dodge till the game gets over and with a bowling attack which Mumbai had, it was surely going to be difficult for Bengal team to survive. Eventually, Bengal were all out for 81 runs in their 2nd innings with spinner Tanush Kotian bagging an impressive 6/35 in 8 overs as Mumbai won the match by an innings & 375 runs.
Played between NG Vartak English High School and Sheth Vidyamandir at Ours CC Ground in Virar, NG Vartak after being put to bat first posted a total of 325/4 in 35 overs. After a decent opening start, it was their no.3 batsman Aryan Mandavkar scoring a brilliant 111* off 100 balls laced with 19 boundaries. It was a strokeful innings where in Aryan mostly dealt in fours to put the pressure on the opposition. The icing on the cake were 73 extras conceded by Sheth Vidyamandir which pushed the total to a massive 300+
Chasing 326, Sheth Vidyamandir were bundled out for mere 47 runs thanks to an unbelievable spell by Aryan Mandavakar. Aryan was quite spot on removing one batsman after another as he piled up a record 9 wkts for mere 14 runs in 7 overs alongwith 4 maidens.

Taking a 9 wkts in an innings along with a century in the same game is a feat rarely achieved by any age group cricketer and Aryan has certainly left behind his presence with a very strong performance in the ongoing MCA Interschool Tournament.
Mumbai, January 8: A solid all-round performance enabled Cathedral and John Connon record a huge 138 runs victory against Greenlawns High School ina Group-B league match on the opening day of the inaugural Bombay Gymkhana Inter-School T20 Cricket Tournament, played at the Gymkhana’s ground on Wednesday.
Deciding to bat first, Cathedral batted confidently and piled up a massive total of 213 for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Ayaan Jain top-scored with a fluent unbeaten knock of 69 runs, while Rohit Jogani (46 runs), Varun Desai (31 not out) and Udiyansh Yashasvi (29 runs) helped lift the innings.
Later, the Cathedral bowling attack bundled out Greenlawns for a paltry 75 in 20 overs. Kashyap Shah was the only batsman to score 30 runs. Soham Kapadia (2 for 7), Arjun Munot (3 for 26) and Priyavrat Mohta (2 for 5) picked up the wickets to complete a quick win for their school.
Earlier, in a Group-A match, St. Mary’s romped to a comfortable 7-wicket win against Campion School. Batting first Campion School were restricted to 82 for 8 wickets, in 20 overs. In reply, St. Mary’s reached 83 for the loss of just 3 wickets, in 17.4 overs to charge to victory.
Brief scores – Group-B: Cathedral & John Cannon School 213 for 4 wickets, in 20 overs (Rohit Jogani 46, Varun Desai 31, Ayaan Jain 69*, Udiyansh Yashasvi 29) beat Greenlawns High School 75 all out, in 20 overs (Kashyap Shah 30; Soham Kapadia 2 for 7, Arjun Munot 3 for 26, Priyavrat Mohta 2 for 5) by 138 runs.
Group-A: Campion School 82 for 8 wickets, in 20 overs (Rohan Ghag 27; Atin Mittal 3 for 9) lost to St. Mary’s School 83 for 3 wickets, in 17.4 overs (Aarav Rawte 30, Aran Giridhar 17*; Cyrus Kutky 2 for 14) by 7 wickets.
CHANAWALA CHALLENGERS T-40 TROPHY 2019-20, 4th December 2019, Mumbai :SOTC Travel Limited (SOTCTL) VS Mahindra logistics limited (MLL), Match played at Azad Maidan, Mumbai on 4th Jan 2020. MLL won the toss and elected to bat first. Mariya Sports were the respective organizers of the match.
MLL at one position were 2 for 46. Followed that was colossal batting endeavor in the form of a 173 runs partnership between opener Amar Narkar and no.4 Narayan sawant. Amar Narkar started aggressively but after his half century started to play more patiently eyeing a big target for the team. Eventually he remained not out with a score of 109 runs to his name. Narayan Sawant was the aggressor in the innings especially after he crossed the fifty mark, he scored 95 runs in 81 balls with 5 sixes and 9 fours. Sameeran Chalke put the finish touches with a 20 balls 36. With their efforts, Mll scored 272 runs in 40 overs losing 3 wickets.
The SOTCL bore sorry figures against their names and the lack of a big scorer earned them a defeat. The highest score was 20by their batsmen and it was an underwhelming performance by the team. MLL’s left arm spinner Pankaj Kori grabbed a superb fifer for only 15 runs in 4 wickets. They restricted SOTCL for just 87 runs in 18.3 overs. It was a great exhibition of bowling by the MLL team and a complete team effort at the end.
Results- MLL won the match by 185 runs.

Reliance RCP Team after being put to bat first at the All Saints Ground in Bhiwandi posted a healthy total of 187/9 in 20 overs. With an average start by the top order, it was their middle order batsman Nishant Pardi at no.4 changing the game with his quick fire knock of 66 runs in 39 deliveries. Nishant smashed 7 fours and 4 sixes counter attacking the bowlers while it was a brilliant finish in the death overs by Brajendra Yadav (39 off 28) & Mangesh Makde who scored 16 in mere 3 balls!

All Star XI in reply were cleaned up for 107 runs all out thanks to their experienced campaigner Anoop Bindal. Spinner Anoop who grills players off the field in cricket interviews also managed to grill the players on field as he came up with a very crucial spell of 4/32 in 4 overs. Nishant Pardi without a doubt owned the match as he came up with excellent bowling figures too picking up 3/19 in 4 overs.
Result-Reliance RCP Cricket Club won the match by 80 runs while Nishant Pardi was declared ‘Man of the Match”
Into the all important finals of the iconic Brabourne Stadium, Don Bosco Team after being put to bat first posted a total of 289/10 in 94.2 overs. Despite some early setbacks, it was Sahil Jadhav at no.4 who did the rescue act with a polished knock of 101 runs in 212 balls (12 fours). The rest of the batsman batted around Sahil as Don Bosco reached a somewhat respectable total. From the bowlers, Mayur Devrukhar with 4/57 & Anurag Singh with 3/77 were the pick of the lot.
Chasing 290 in such a prestigious finale game is definitely a pressure task but Al-Barkaat boys made it look quite easy thanks to the 186 run stand for the 4th wicket between opener Tushar Singh and Nutan Goel. Tushar displayed some rock solid batting facing as many as 362 balls for his 106* while Nutan Goel who came at no.4 scored a superb 120 0ff 188 balls laced with 18 boundaries.
Al-Barkat won the match on 1st innings lead and became the champions of the elite Harris Shield’19. Shashvat Kapoor was declared the “Best Batsman” for scoring 370 runs in 4 matches, Aryan Shejule who took 20 wkts in 5 matches was declared the “Best Bowler” , Harsh Mendon with 17 scalps in 5 games was the 2nd highest wicket taker while “Anuj Giri” was declared “Man of the Series” in the presence of various senior dignitaries including Former India Cricketer & National Selector Sandeep Patil who attended the finals.
