Mumbai :– The match played between Oriental Insurance Sports Club and Star India Cricket Club at Shivaji park for Times shield  “E” division preliminary round won by Oriental Insurance Sports Club with a margin of just 3 runs in what became a thriller of a match

Dhruv brid’s fantastic century played major role in oriental’s victory. Dhruv brid who is just nineteen years old smashed a fluent century hitting the ball freely in all corners of the ground. It was his conficent approach which resulted in a sparkling century well supported by his senior player Vinod Kini’s 66 runs.

Their speedy partnership ensured a good target of 199 runs in just 38 overs. Vinayak Vaidh’s effective bowling spell of 5 wickets in 25 runs shows the fighting spirit of Star india Cricket Club. Star India tried their best but were eventually all out at 196 runs in 37 overs. Kanak Kini’s bowling spell of 3 wickets in 42 runs also contributed in Oriental’s victory. Jitendra ingle, the manager of Oriental Insurance team was also quite happy with the team performance.

Mumbai, January 14: Gopi Birla Memorial School bowlers produced a disciplined bowling performance which inspired them to record a comfortable 74-run win against Greenlawns High School in a Group-B league match on the opening day of the inaugural Bombay Gymkhana Inter-School T20 Cricket Tournament, played at the Gymkhana’s ground on Tuesday.

Electing to bat first Gopi Birla managed to score 139 all out in 19.3 overs. Dishant Shah 25 and Aadit Shah 28 runs propped the Gopi Birla innings.  Greenlawns bowlers Yug Kukadia (3 for 28), Dev Sisodia (2 for 27), Kenil Sanghvi (2 for 31), Khush Godani (2 for 24) picked up the wickets.

Later the Gopi Birla bowling attack bundled out Greenlawns for a paltry 65 in 14.3 overs. Medhansh Shah (3 for 7), Bhavya Shah (2 for 20) and Jinay Sarvaiya (2 for 2) were responsible for bowling Gopi Birla to a big win.

Earlier, Dhirubhai Ambani International School registered a convincing 7-wicket win against Campion School in a Group-B match. Batting first Campion School made 137 for 2 wickets in 20 overs. Rohan Ghag top-scored with 69 runs and Soham Rathod scored an unbeaten 44 runs. Dhirubhai Ambani easily chased the target scoring 139 for loss of 3 wickets in 18.3 overs. Abhiviraj (30 runs), Veer Kapoor (34 not out) and Shanay Ambani (35 runs) ensured their team crossed the finish line.

Brief scores: Campion School 137 for 2 wickets in 20 overs (Soham Rathod 44*, Rohan Ghag 69) lost to Dhirubhai Ambani International School 139 for 3 in 18.3 overs (Abhiviraj 30, Veer Kapoor 34*, Shanay Ambani 35) by 7 wickets.

Gopi Birla Memorial School 139 all out in 19.3 overs (Dishant Shah 25, Aadit Shah 28, Yug Kukadia 3 for 28, Dev Sisodia 2 for 27, Kenil Sanghvi 2 for 31, Khush Godani 2 for 24) beat Greenlawns High School 65 all out in 14.3 overs (Medhansh Shah 3 for 7, Bhavya Shah 2 for 20, Jinay Sarvaiya 2 for 2) by 74 runs.

Mumbai: Aran Giridhar recorded the first century knock of the tournament and powered St. Mary’s School to an overwhelming 136-run victory against Aditya Birla World Academy in a second round Group-A league match of the inaugural Bombay Gymkhana Inter-School T20 Cricket Tournament, played at the Gymkhana’s ground.

Aditya Birla deciding to field first were unable to trouble the St. Mary’s batters. Aran Giridhar batted confidently and smashed the rival bowling attack to all corners of the park as he scored a rapid 110 runs from just 67 balls and with 20 well-timed hits to the boundary. Aarav Rawte contributed with a quick 40  runs. Nirvaan Jhaveri (2 for 39) was the lone Aditya Birla bowler who was not taken for too many runs.

The Aditya Birla batsmen found the target very stiff and they lost wickets in  heap and were dismissed for 74 in 17.2 overs. St. Mary’s bowlers Benjamin Sinate (2 for 12), Arham Parekh (3 for 15) and Khuswan Anklesaria (2 for 10) did the damage.

In a Group-B encounter, Cathedral & John Connon registered another easy win defeating G.D. Somani Memorial School by 10 wickets.

Batting first G.D. Somani were restricted to 70 for 9 wicket in 20 overs and Cathedral & John Cannon School comfortably chased the total making 71 runs without losing a wicket.

Brief scores: St. Mary’s School 210 for 3 wicket in 20 overs  (Aran Giridhar 110 (67b, 20×4), Aarav Rawte 40, Nirvaan Jhaveri 2 for 39) beat Aditya Birla World Academy 74 all out in 17.2 overs (Benjamin Sinate 2 for 12, Arham Parekh 3 for 15, Khuswan Anklesaria 2 for 10) by 136 runs.

G.D. Somani Memorial School 70 for 9 wicket in 20 overs (Neil Verma 17, Arnav Bakshi 2 for 11, Amay Sanghvi 2 for 14, Arjun Munot 2 for 13) lost to Cathedral & John Cannon School 71 for no loss (Varun Desai 38*, Rohit Jogani 26*) by 10 wickets.

CHANAWALA CHALLENGERS T-40 TROPHY 2019-20, 11 January, 2020 Mumbai : Express Marketing (EM) took on Subsea Pro Pvt. Ltd (SPPL) at Azad Maidan on 11th Jan 2020. After winning the toss, SPPL chose to BAT first.

The top order of SPPL failed to put up a strong performance and at one stage they were 63 for 6. Ankit Jain and captain  Mayuresh Shenoy steered the innings to sort of normalcy and built the innings forward. They shared a 88 run partnership and that pushed the score to a fighting level. Both of them got out at the score of 41 and eventually scored a total of 171 runs in 39.3 overs. For EM, Ganesh Gaikwad bowled a brilliant spell of 4 for 33 runs in 7 overs. Team EM had a good outing with the ball.

Chasing 172, EM were cruising at 64 for 2 but then a string of quick wickets ensured their difficulty in chasing down the target. Sai Rajapurkar (33 off 32) tried to revive the innings but in vain. In 30.1, EM was bundled out at a score of 149 runs. They competed well but failed to cross the threshold of win. Performer with the bat and then star with the ball, SPPL’s Ankit Jain dismantled the opposition with his left arm whirligigs on the pitch and picked up a fantastic six wicket haul for 28 runs. His all round performance stood out in this close encounter.

Result – SPPL won the match by 22 runs.

Played between RBI Sports Club and Route Mobile at the United Cricketers wicket, Route Mobile batting first posted a total of 257/9 in 70 overs. No.3 in form batsman Prathamesh Pawar who has been amongst the runs this season top scored with a solid 83 off 129 balls (9 fours). From RBI, Ameya Dandekar with 4/67 was the pick of the lot.

Defending a total of 258, it was Route Mobile’s experienced campaigner Neil Narvekar coming up with a crucial spell of 6/52 in 14.5 overs with 2 maidens. All-rounder Neil was spot on with the ball as he provided timely breakthroughs not allowing any batsman to settle bundling out RBI team for 191 runs all out with Ameya Dandekar top scoring with the bat too scoring 71 runs opening the innings.

Result- Route Mobile won the match by 66 runs

Madhya Pradesh opting to bat first were all out for 228 runs in 44.4 overs with all-rounder Aman Khan bagging 4/59 in 13.4 overs being the pick of the lot. Mumbai which has a solid batting line up posted a big 1st innings total of 372 runs in 74.1 overs courtesy, tons by Chinmay Sutar and Armaan Jaffer. Coming at no.3, Armaan smashed a regal 103 off 142 balls while also stitched a 130 run stand with Agni who scored 68 runs. Chimnay who came at no.5 once again played a sparkly innings scoring 112 off mere 105 deliveries hitting 8 biggies en-route his ton.

Madhya Pradesh in 2nd innings were all out for 222 runs thanks to a game changing spell by spinner Tanush Kotian who kept the batsman in check. Tanush who is one talented young spinner came up with envious bowling figures of 6/50 in 16 overs providing breakthroughs at crucial intervals.

With just 82 to chase in the 4th innings, Mumbai chased it down in 17.3 overs winning the match by 5 wkts.

Played between DMCC and Mazgaon Sports Club, DMCC opting to bat first posted a very competitive total of 178/7 in 20 overs. It was on the back of a good top order start provided by Lalit Sharma & Vaibhav Patil who came at no.3. Opener Lalit went on to score a quickfire 62 in just 39 balls hitting 8 fours and a six which created a lot of positive momentum while Vaibhav Patil scored a solid 51 off 40 balls which had 6 boundaries. From DMCC, Akshay Dube and Mayur Gharat with 2 wkts a piece were the pick of the bowlers.

Chasing 179 in a T20 game is always a pressure situation and Mazgaon CC must have felt the pressure of maintaining an 8+ run rate right from the beginning. As a result, Mazgaon CC were bundled out for 85 runs in 19.3 overs.  The bowlers did an excellent job with Jagdish Jadhav’s 3/15 being the best bowling figures of the match. Apart from him, Vishweshwar Singh and Prathamesh Belchada also chipped in with 2 wkts each.

Result- DMCC won the match by 93 runs, Lalit Sharma declared “man of the match”

 

Played between Ghatkoper Jolly Gymkhana and Young Friends CC at the Sunder CC Ground, Young Friends CC batting first were all out for 132 runs in 34.5 overs. It was a spirited bowling performance from the Ghatkopar Jolly Gymkhana bowlers with spinner Devang Gosalia leading from the front with an excellent spell of 5/19 in 9 overs alongwith 2 maidens. Gosalia took some important wickets while cleaned up the lower order as Young Friends were restricted to a low total.

Chasing 133, Ghatkoper Jolly Gymkhana made it look like a cakewalk chasing it down in 27.4 overs and winning the match by 5 wkts. Opener Gilchrist Prabhakar top scored with a crucial knock of 64 runs in 73 balls where he smashed 60 runs dealing in boundaries. From Young Friends CC, all-rounder Kartike Savla with 4/23 was quite effective but he lacked support from the other end.

 

 

THE DREAMS TROPHY T20 – 2019-20,11 January 2020, Mumbai : Trafigura took on Sapphire foods on 11th Jan 2020 at Cross maidan. Trafigura won the toss and elected to field first.

Saphhire foods opener Dhanesh Vasaikar played a fantastic knock of 67 runs in 37 balls and laid a strong base for others. Rahul Kapoor and Ankit Chudasama also chipped in with handy 20’s but others didn’t do much. Trafigura leaked 38 extras to contribute to Saphhire’s innings and eventually Sapphire posted a total of 184 runs in 20 overs losing 8 wickets. For Trafigura, pick of the bowlers was off spinner Anil Bhalala who picked up 3 wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs.

Chasing 185, Trafigura opener Anil Bhalala who was impressive with the bowl also did a splendid job with the bat. He went all guns blazing and bludgeoned the bowlers with a 27 balls 71 which consisted of 6 fours and 6 sixes. Accompanying him was his fellow opener, Anis Date who also scored a valuable 51 off 43 balls. Anis carried his bat through the innings and sealed the win for his team. They chased the target in 18.4 overs losing 3 wickets.

Result- Trafigura won by 7 wickets.

Varun Sabharwal won the Automotive Orange Cap for the month of December’19 on the back of his brilliant knock of 116 runs. Playing for team Lintas, Varun smacked a brilliant 116* in mere 74 balls vs Spartans Web Solutions in the Milan Mega Corporate T20 League. It was on the back of his unbeaten ton, Lintas won the match by 53 runs while it also made him a deserving candidate for the Famed Orange Cap.

Nitin Desmukh-Automotive Purple Cap Winner for the month of November’19

Nitin Desmukh won the Automotive Purple Cap for the month of December’19 in corporate cricket. Taking a fifer in T20 is not only a rare phenomena but it is one record which is very difficult. Nitin in the ongoing Milan Mega Corporate T20 League had came up with a commendable spell of 5/7 in 2.4 overs which had ensured a big win for his team Orange Advertising. Bowling figures of 5/7 are anyday impressive in the T20 Format as he was rightly adjudged the winner of the prestigious “Purple Cap”

Prakash Patil-Automotive Yellow Cap Winner for the month of November’19

Prakash Patil was the most popular player in Corporate Cricket as he won the Automotive Corporate Yellow Cricket Cap for the month of December. With 228 votes, Prakash won by a big margin as his nearest competitor lost to him by more than 100 votes. Prakash who plays for CEAT Speciality team had scored a brilliant 64*vs CEAT which had helped his team win the match on 30th December! A win which must have given him and his mates one more reason to party hard for 31st decemeber!
