JOLLY FRIENDS SPORTS MATUNGA 2 PREMIER LEAGUE 2019-20, 12 January 2020, Mumbai : Gladiator Cricket Club (GCC) took on Friends Cricket Club (FCC) on 12th January 2020 at Dadar Parsi Zoroastrian Cricket Ground Matunga, Mumbai. GCC won the toss and elected to FIELD first.

Top order batmen for FCC played their hearts out, Amit Agarwal and Irfan Panjwani initially steered the innings with caution then upped their aggressive intent also. Amit Agarwal scored a gritty 56 off 37 balls and Irfan scored a massive 73 off 43 balls with 10 fours in it. They passed on the baton to Akshay Jaunjkar who played a stellar innings of 76 runs off just 29 balls, he smacked the bowlers from ball one and remained not out at the end. He scored 11 fours and 3 sixes. FCC put up a massive total of 239 runs in 20 overs losing 3 wickets.

GCC batting show was catastrophic, the highest scorer was Sainath Kargutkar who scored 34 runs off 23 balls. Except Sainath, no other batsmen scored even a two digit score. Hence, they were bowled out for 73 runs in just 13.4 overs. For FCC, Harshal Khaire picked up 3 wickets for just 6 runs. Balarao, Mohit Makhija and Parag Jain also picked up couple of wickets each. Despite a good performance, Bala Rao was deprived of a well deserved hat-trick courtesy a catch drop.

Overall, it was a dominating performance by FCC team.

Result- FCC won the match by 166 runs.

Akshay Jaunkar was awarded Man of the match.

JOLLY FRIEND SPORTS SOLO 2 PREMIER LEAGUE 2019-20, 11 January, 2020, Mumbai : Green Sole Titan (GST) VS AVM Yodhas (AVMY), match played at Khalsa college cricket ground, Matunga on 11th January 2020. Toss won by Green sole titan and elected to FIELD first.

AVMY Opener Sitanshu Kumar played at a gritty knock of 49 runs off 37 balls. Adding to his knock, Amit Manubarwala played a wonderful of 53 runs off 52 balls. The both had a partnership of 82 runs that shaped their team’s innings. With few other batsmen chipping in with small scores, they reached a total of 145 runs in 20 overs losing 7 wickets. For GST, Abhimanyu Khanna picked up 2 wickets.

GST’s top order performed well and at a point they were 56 for 3. No.3 Dhruvit Shah and middle order batsman Abhimanyu Khanna put on a wonderful partnership of 76 runs. Dhruvit anchored the innings and scored 31 runs off 32 balls. Abhimanyu scored a quick fire 61 runs off 27 balls which consisted off 6 sixes and 4 fours. They chased down the total in 15.2 overs losing only 4 wickets.

RESULT- Green sole Titan won the match by 6 wickets.

Played at Oval Maidan between Lakshadam High School vs Gokuldham High School, it was this talented bowler Vaarun  Kadam who came up with an exciting spell of 6/18 in 14 overs (3maidens) which included 5 clean bowled and one caught behind to his name. It was on the back of his tight bowling, Gokuldham School pulled an easy win restricting Lakshadham School to just 77 runs all out. All-rounder Roneet Thakur with 3/29 was also quite supportive in the bowling department.

Chasing 78, Opener Utkarsh Yadav (24*) and no.3 batsman Roneet Thakur (29*) ensured an easy chase as Gokuldham School won the match by 9 wkts.

Vaarun Kadam who was also declared the “Best Bowler” in the recently concluded U16 Poinsur Gymkhana tournament seems to be on a roll as he will be one bowler to watchout for in the coming season.

In the match between SSA Strikers & Edifice Consultants Pvt ltd at the Vengsarkar Academy, Mahul, SSA Strikers after being put to bat first posted a total of 160/5 in 20 overs. Opening the innings, Chinmay Hatiskar went all guns blazing hitting a supreme knock of 92 runs in mere 62 balls (11 fours, 2 sixes). The rest of the batters batted around him with small cameos as SSA Strikers reached a defendable total. Tushar Koli with 2/22 in 4 overs was the pick of the lot for Edifice Consultants.

Edifice Consultants in reply could only reach a total of 143/6 in 20 overs, thanks to some tight bowling by the SSA Strikers bowlers.  Opener Sumeet Vengilat (60) and all rounder Tushar Koli (42) did look dangerous at one point but it was Gaurav Koli from SSA Team who turned the game around with a miserly spell of 4/19 in 4 overs. SSA Strikers eventually won the match by 17 runs while Chinmay Hatiskar was declared ‘man of the match’

The Season 8 of AT20 has been nothing but exciting with every match giving you something to cheer about. This year, the tournament has witnessed some record quick centuries, some tight spells including a fifer to super over thrillers which has just raised the bar and quality of the tournament to a next level.

 

Played between Rising Strikers and BD Smashers at the Somaiya Cricket Ground, Rising Strikers after being put to bat first posted a big total of 206/4 in 20 overs. Opener Jatin Mehta gave a solid start with 31 ball 36 runs while Shravan Rathod at no.3 top scored for Rising Strikers hitting a crucial 50 off 36 balls. The finishing touch in the death overs was further given by Chirag Joshi (48* off 25 balls) & Jigar Shah (15* off 8 balls) at the middle order.

BD Smashers in reply could only manage 109/9 courtesy some real tight bowling by Rising Strikers bowlers. Nikhil Singhi at the middle order was the only one who looked good for his 26 runs in an otherwise dismal batting performance. Vishal Patil with 3/8 in 2 overs alongwith a maiden was the pick of the bowlers while Jatin Mehta & Jigar Shah bagged 2wkts each.

Result-Rising Strikers won the match by 97 runs, Jatin Mehta declared “Man of the Match”, Nikhil Singhi declared “Star Player of the Match

Played between Hellbenders and Royal Falcons at the Chereshwar Club, Trombay, Hellbenders opting to bat first could only muster a total of 126/7 in 20 overs. Opener Raj Desai top scored for Hellbenders scoring 51 off 46 balls before he had to retire hurt.

Chasing 127, it was assumed to be a cakewalk for Royal Falcons but Hellbenders ensured they did not allow the opposition team to win easily.  With team struggling at 35/4 and 49/5 in the 9th over, it was left handed Chintan Seth at no.5 who in many ways reminded us of Australia’s Michael Bevan who would often play gritty knocks at middle order under pressure.

Chintan anchored the chase with a cool head hitting 58* off 48 balls (9 fours. 1 six) while he recieved good support from Pratik Chavan who scored 22* off 16 balls.

Result- Royal Falcons won the match by 4 wkts, Chintan Seth declared ‘Man of the Match

The semi final of the Zooter’s Cup was played between JNS Jaguars and OIS Tigers at the Somaiya Cricket Ground in Sion. The OIS Tigers won the toss and elected to bowl first.

JNS Jaguars managed to score 167/4 from their quota of 20 overs. Atul Ganeriwal was the star with the bat, as he scored an impressive 71 runs of 52 balls ! The right handed batsman was well supported by Shantanu Agasti, who scored 29 runs.

OIS Tigers needed 168 runs to win the semi final but the JNS Jaguars restricted them at 106/9. Ashish Shiroya took 2/13 and Manmeet Gulati took 2/13 as JNS Jaguars always looked in control of the game. Abhishek Dutt was the highest scorer for OIS Tigers as he scored a fighting 21, but to no avail.

JNS Jaguars won the match by 61 runs and booked a place in the final of the Zooter’s Cup. Atul Ganeriwal was the Man of the Match.

The Bayside Sports School Dads Cricket Championship 2019 Platinum quarterfinals was played between JNS Jaguars and GB Strikers at the Air India Kalina Ground. GB Strikers won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Put into bat, JNS Jaguars scored 172/5 at the end of 20 overs. Jeetinder Diwan came into bat at number 3 and scored a brilliant 72 runs of 45 balls. He was well supported by Hemal Chitalia who scored a blistering 32 of 15 balls. This right handed duo propelled Jaguars to a fighting total.

Defending 172 runs for a place in the semi finals, the JNS Jaguars bowlers started well. Off spinner Jay Pandya and Jimmy Shah bowled well and took 3/9 and 2/11 respectively. Nimish Vora was the lone fighter for GB Strikers as they were all out for 115 runs.

JNS Jaguars won by 57 runs and entered the semi finals of the Bayside Sports School Dads Cricket Championship 2019 Platinum. Jeetiner Diwan was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Avengers XI opting to bat first at the Chereshwar Trombay Ground posted a decent total of 154/6 in 20 overs. Opener Rohit Katti smashed a crucial knock of 56 runs in mere 51 balls which was quite pivotal to his team’s total. Down the order, it was Arbaaz Pathan’s 23 ball 44* which pushed the team to a 150+ score on the board.

Nauman Construction Dynamites in return had most of their batsman chipping in with cameos but atleast one 50+ score from their batsman could have taken their team past the victory line. Nauman Construction could only manage a total of 149//9 in 20 overs courtesy a brilliant spell by Amith Rao who came up with tight bowling figures of 3/13 in 4 overs. Bowling at an economy of under 4 made all the difference while defending the total as Avengers won the match by 5 runs while Amith Rao was declared “Man of the Match”

 

 

The Air India Kalina Ground was the venue for the much anticipated semi finals of the Bayside Sports School Dad Cricket Championship 2019 Platinum Semifinals between JNS Jaguars and UTPAL Warriors. UTPAL Warriors won the toss and decided to bat first.

UTPAL Warriors managed to score an impressive 181/9 at the end of their quota of 20 overs. Asgar Khan was the star with the bat for them as he scored 67 runs of just 28 balls ! The star with the bowl for JNS Jaguars was Jimmy Shah, the right arm pacer took 2/38. Ashish Shiroya was the most economical bowler for Jaguars as he took 1/23.

JNS Jaguars needed 182 runs to win and enter the finals. The Jaguars needed a big performance with the bat and their hero for the day was Atul Ganeriwal ! Coming into bat at number 4, Atul scored a brilliant 79 not out of just 44 balls ! The right handed batsman took his team all the way and chased down the total with an over to spare. He formed a crucial partnership of 73 runs with opener Bakhtiyaar Irani , who scored 45 runs. The JNS Jaguars reached the target scoring 184/4 with an over to spare.

The JNS Jaguars won the match by 6 wickets and entered the Bayside Sports School Dad Cricket Championship 2019 Platinum finals. Atul Ganeriwal was the Man of the Match.
