A lot of mumbai cricketers have a strong desire to play for MCA (Mumbai cricket association) tournaments however due to various reasons these desires remain unfulfilled. However this is about to change, courtesy Suraj Samat, the man behind Friends Union Club, a MCA affiliated cricket club.

Please note that if a cricketer plays for Kanga knock out tournament, he wont be eligible to play for top divisions in MCA for that year.
Into the all important semi finals of the match, DTDC took on HPCL at the Dadaji Konddev Stadium in Thane where in DTDC opting to bat first posted a handsome total of 245/3 in 35 overs. Sushant Kadam who has been a consistent player scoring good amount of runs even in Kanga and Times since the last 2yrs once again came good with a knock of 85 runs in 106 balls (7 fours , 1 six) opening the innings. Siddarth Ghule at no.3 was also quite impressive scoring 62 off 71 balls as DTDC were in a commanding position to defend.
HPCL in reply were all out for 166 runs with all-rounder Sushant Kadam leading the bowling department too with a 5 wkt haul to his name. Sushant bamboozled the batsman with his spin taking 5/31 in 7 overs while the rest of the bowlers also maintained discipline as DTDC won the semi finals by 79 runs.
The tournament is Mumbai Cricket Association affiliated.
Played between UMELMAN CC and UDAY CC at the Vasai 2 Plot, Umelman CC batting first posted a handsome total of 273/9 in 45 overs. After a decent opening start, it was Chinmay Mohite at no.3 top scoring with 81 runs. It was a confident knock where century was certainly cards before he faced an untimely run out. Ihsaan Amin at the middle order once again played an impressive knock of 60 runs showing his reliability at the middle order.

UDAY CC in reply were bundled out for 91 runs thanks to a match winning spell by their all rounder Chinmay Mohite. Chinmay who stood out with bat also turned out to be the star bowler coming up with envious bowling figures of 6/10 in 9 overs coupled with 4 maidens. It was on the back of his spell, UDAY CC despite Omkar Sakhre’s 51* were all out for 91 runs.
Result: UMELMAN CC won the match by 182 runs
Have you ever heard a batsman coming at no.6 and going on to score a triple hundred? It’s a very very rare instance incase if you might have heard it. In the ongoing Ranji Trophy match between U.P and Mumbai team, UP batting first at Wankhede Stadium had posted a very big total of 625/8 in 159.3 overs on the back of Upendra Yadav’s 203*.
Mumbai team though lost a few early wickets were least deterred looking at UP’s scoreboard thanks to some resistance showed by Siddhesh Lad (97) and Hardik Tamore (51) at the middle order. With momentum back in Mumbai’s favor, it was Sarfaraz Khan at no.6 who completely changed the course of the game with a magical innings of 301* in 391 balls (30 fours, 8 sixes). Sarafaraz also stitched partnerships with Aditya Tare (98) and Shams Mulani (61) as Mumbai team declared their innings at 688/7 in 166.3 overs.
Result- Mumbai team won on 1st innings lead

It was pure domination by Mumbai and it was spellbinding to see the hunger of runs which Sarfaraz has. Also Sarfaraz Khan’s 210 run stand with Siddhesh Lad & 179 run stand with Tare proved to be the turning point for Mumbai to stay at the top.

After serving the 1 year cooling period, Sarfaraz has made a stunning comeback into the Mumbai Ranji team wherein he has showed good amount of resistance and consistency.
Mumbai, January 22: Dhirubhai Ambani International School produced another impressive all-round showing and recorded a comfortable 36-run victory against Gopi Birla Memorial School in a semi-final match of the inaugural Bombay Gymkhana Inter-School T20 Cricket Tournament, played under floodlights at the Gymkhana’s ground late Tuesday evening.
Taher Kudrati who cracked an unbeaten half century knock of 54 runs and Arhan Maker who picked 4 wickets for 10 runs were the shining stars in Dhirubhai Ambani’s victory.
Deciding to bat first, Dhirubhai Ambani managed to amass a total of 133 for the loss of four wickets from their stipulated 20 overs. Taher, who had scored 88 runs in the first match, once again batted solidly to lift the Dhirubhai Ambani innings, while teammate Abhiviraj Goel contributed 25 useful runs.
In response, Gopi Birla struggled in the chase as they found it difficult to bat against the Dhirubhai Ambani bowling attack and lost wickets at regular intervals and were dismissed for 97 in 19.2 overs. Gopi Birla’s batsman Aadit Shah was the top-scorer with 23 runs.
Brief scores: Dhirubhai Ambani International School 133 for 4 in 20 overs (Taher Kudrati 54*, Abhiviraj Goel 25) beat Gopi Birla Memorial School 97 all out in 19.2 overs (Aadit Shah 23, Arhan Maker 4 for 10) by 36 runs.
A cricket camp is scheduled from 01 Feb 2020 – 30 March 2020 for Anshuman Rath (ex-Hong Kong cricketer), under the supervision of Amol Mazumdar (Former batting coach of South Africa / Netherlands, Rajasthan Royals & Ex- Mumbai Ranji Captain).




Mumbai batting first vs Baroda amassed a total of 235/10 in 82.2 overs. Even though not a threatening total but it was certainly a respectable 1st innings score. Awais Khan top scored for Mumbai hitting an elegant 80 while Aryan Shejule (35), Ayush Mhatre (31) & Sanskar Panaskar (30) provided handy cameos.
Baroda in their 1st innings found it difficult to get going vs the Mumbai bowlers getting bundled out for 108 runs in 35 overs. Mumbai in the 2nd innings declared at 161/6 with Awais Khan once again shining for his team hitting a confident 77 making it back to back fifties to begin the domestic season.
Chasing 283, Baroda in their 2nd innings did look better with scoreboard reading 183/6 at the end of the game’s play with Teerth Bakshi scoring 64 runs. However, it was Mumbai who outclassed Baroda winning the match on 1st innings lead.
THE DREAMZ TROPHY T20 – 2019-20, 18 January 2020 in Mumbai : K Raheja VS Smollan, Played at MB Union on 18th January 2020, Toss won by Raheja and they elected to bat first.
After a decent start by the openers, K raheja were 30-1 at one stage but followed that were series of quick wickets. The middle orders collapsed, except Uttal Lohar who scored a vital 39 off 30 balls, no other batsman scored anything substantial. Eventually they ended up piling up a target of 124 runs losing 8 wickets in their 20 overs. The pick of the bowlers for Smollan was medium pacer Srikkant Pisharody who delivered a stellar performance with the ball picking up a figure of 3 for 19 in 4 overs and Vidyadhar Bagul who scalped 2 for 18 in his 4 overs bowling 1 maiden over.
K Raheja team’s spirit might have lit up for a jiffy when they got their first wicket at the score of 1 but things further didn’t sway their way courtesy a swashbuckling innings of Sujay Lotankar and Salim Shaikh. Sujay came at no.3 and batted with opener Swapnil More who planned to give Sujay maximum strike owing to his previous notable performances with both bat and ball on the MB Union wicket and the fact that the ground aesthetics suited the southpaw best. Sujay scored a brilliant 57 runs off just 39 balls and stitched potent partnerships with Swapnil More and Salim Shaikh. No.4 Salim came to the wicket after Swapnil got out for 11 runs, and intended to stick to one end but at the same time was dexterous enough to hit a knock of 42 runs off 30 balls. Overall it was a wonderful outing for team Smollan.
Result – Smollan won by 8 wickets.
MAN OF THE MATCH- Sujay Lotankar

Sainath Sports Club opting to bat first on Ours CC ground posted a decent total of 281 runs in 44.1 overs. Umesh Gurjar who came at no.3 played a fantastic knock of 97 runs falling just 3 short of a deserving hundred. Umesh scored 97 off mere 71 balls (9 fours, 4 sixes) while also stitched a 149 run stand for the 4th wicket Sachin Solanki who scored 70 off 78 balls. Spinner Rishikesh Ugale with 4/54 was the pick of the lot from Mazgaon CC.

Defending a total of 282, it was left arm spinner Abhishek Pandey who came up with a game changing spell of 5/25 in 9 overs. Abhishek who has been in a purple patch this season continues to impress with the ball as he provides good levels of consistency. It was on the back of Pandey’s fifer, Mazgaon CC were reduced to 132 runs all out as Sainath SC clinched a big win by 149 runs.
Played between DMCC and Tata Steel at the Oval Maidan, Tata Steel after opting to bat first managed to score an average total of 203/8 in 45 overs. Tushar Gharat at the middle order top scored with 63 runs while it was Jagdish Jadhav from DMCC who turned out to be the best bowler. Jagdish came up with a crucial spell of 5/26 in 9 overs which proved to be quite effective for his team. Jadgish has been in good form with the ball this season while he took another 4 wkts the next day in the Cosmopolitan Shield tournament.
Chasing 204, DMCC were good start with openers putting on a 50+ stand, the positive momentum was further accelerated by no.3 batsman Vaibhav Patil who scored a match winning knock of 85 runs in 99 balls. A knock which certainly helped his team sail through and win the match by 4 wkts.
