In the recent match of Mumbai Indians U16 Girls Tournament, medium pacers Sartha Chawan and Ishwari Gaikwad came up with astounding bowling figures of 5/7 in 5 overs (2 maidens) & 5/11 in 4.2 overs (2maidens respectively) representing Singhania School Girls (Thane). Seven Square Academy Girls after opting to bat first at Worli Sports Club were cleaned up for 50 runs all out in 16.2 overs thanks to the pace combination of Sartha and Ishwari.
Singhania School Girls, Thane in reply chased down the score with ease taking mere 6 overs with 8 wkts in hand to win the game in a dominating fashion.
Thanks to Reliance Group & Mumbai Indians for conducting such a professional women’s Tournament. The standard of women’s cricket has indeed witnessed a positive spurt.
After opting to bat first at Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana 2, Ajanta’s openers Omkar Rilkar & Ganesh Kadam gives a steady & positive start to Ajanta which was in plan & according to discussed with openers. At the stage of 16.3 overs no loss of 83 Omkar Rilkar (36) lost his patience got C & B to Sachin Solanki.
Prashant Prindavankar takes the place of Omkar and started build up the partnership with Ganesh Kadam. Both the batsman carries forward their inning nicely and put Ajanta Pharma on 164 in 35.4 overs. Then Prashant where he was trying to boost the quick runs, he got bowled to Nilesh Mhatre on 47 runs.
Next batsman Dhaval Panchal takes the charge with Ganesh Kadam and stated his inning. Both were busy with single & doubles. While it feels that both the batsman will blast more 4’s & 6’s Ganesh Kadam got out on 78 runs. Ajanta needed a quick fire at that stage & skipper Hanumant Matkar walks in and join Dhaval. Both experience batsman taken the positive approach and made quick 24 runs partnership in 2.3 overs. Hanumant got out on 13 in 9 balls to Nilesh Mhatre. Ajanata’s score was 194 in 39.4 overs loss of 4 wickets.
Krishna Humane, hard hitter of Ajanta joins Dhaval. Both were well known the situation. Dhaval & Krishna hammered 5 sixes & 4 boundaries reaches Ajanta on 261 in 45 overs. Dhaval scored 43 in 27 balls and Krishna scored 27 in 14 balls. Viva’s Nilesh Mhatre took 3 wickets & brilliant spells by Sachin Solanki (09-02-26-01)
Viva Supermarket’s openers Shikhar Thakur & Manager Gupta start hammering straight away from the 2 over. Shikhar hits 2 massive sixes & a boundry to Gitesh Pandere. Viva captured total 21 runs in 2nd over. Both solid openers were looking so dangerous. Hanumant replace Gitesh and brings Krishna Humane. His late swinging delivery clears the way of Manager Gupta. Viva was on 31 for 1.
Umesh Gurjar walks in. Shikhar & Umesh batted very nicely with keeping the run rate of 8.0 per over reaches on 88 in just 11 overs loss of 1 wicket. Shikhar & Umesh made a partnership of 65 runs in just 8 overs makes worried for Ajanta. Akshay Ambike’s tight bowling finally gets results. He takes a wicket of Shikhar. Shikhar batted fantastic & boost the quick run rate of Viva. Shikhar smashed tall 6 sixes out of the SRT and hit 3 boundaries. Shikhar scored 65 runs in only 35 balls.
Next, inform batsman of Viva, Sachin Solanki walks in and join with Umesh. They both tried to keep the runs moving towards the target and batted very sensibly. Both made a good partnership of 25 runs. Umesh tried to accelerate at deep midwicket & got out by catch Haresh Jadhav bowled by Tejas Trivedi.
Next 2 batsman of Viva, Akshay Mhapankar & Nilesh got our early. Akshay on 8 runs and Nilesh on 4 runs. Prashant Prindavanar & Tejas Trivedi gives a quick break through to Ajanta and helps Ajanta to bounce back into the game. Rohil Thakur the next batsman joins with Sachin. Rohils approach was very clear. His intent to go for quick runs and brings Viva soon in the game. And he did it successfully. His quick 23 runs with 3 boundaries and a helpful partnership of 65 runs with Sachin Solanki secured Viva again in a good position.
At other end calm Sachin Solanki was building his inning very nicely. Was busy in singles, rotating strike all the time. Makarand Patil the hero of the semi finale game joins with Sachin. Once again Makarand charged in his style with 1 tall six & 2 boundaries. But unfortunate he couldn’t continue his fireworks at SRT & got out to Haresh Jadhav on 17 runs in 12 balls. At this stage Viva were on too good position and were required only 21 runs in 27 balls. Which Sachin & Aditya clears very easily.
Sachin’s patience & smart unbeaten inning of 91 in 112 balls with (6*3 & 4*6) helps Viva Supermarket to lift the championship of Times Shield “E” Division and get promoted into “D” Division for season 2020-21. Viva Successfully chase down the score in 43.5 overs.

Into the 2nd quarter finals of the tournament, Avinash Salvi Foundation opting to bat first posted a very healthy total of 154/8 in 20 overs. Opener Abhigyan Kondu who is one of the key strikers of Avinash Salvi Foundation came up with a brilliant knock of 81 runs in mere 40 balls. Kundu smashed 12 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 200.00+ pushing his team towards a strong team total.
GM Cricket Academy in reply did gave a fight but eventually managed to post a total of 142/9 in 20 overs on the back of some really tight bowling by Avinash Salvi Foundation bowlers.
Result- Avinash Salvi Foundation won by 12 runs, Abhigyan Kondu declared “man of the match”
Union Cricket Academy after being put to bat first posted a modest total of 158/10 in 44 overs which is anyday a very difficult score to defend. With most of the batters finding it difficult to get going, it was opener Kishan Paney (34) and Sahil Shetty (35) being the top scorers for Union C.A. From the bowlers, Balwant Dodake and Ratnadeep Chavan with 3 wkts each were the pick of the lot.
Defending just 158, the pressure was obviously more on the bowlers to deliver and young fast bowler Harsh Pant certainly came to the rescue bagging all the top to middle order wickets at right junctures. Pant returned with excellent bowling figures of 5/17 in 7 overs as Brothers Club were all out for 95 runs in 32 overs.

SSA Strikers batting first at Vengsarkar Academy, Mahul could only post a modest total of 95/8 in 20 overs. With a disastrous top order start with scoreboard reading 4/22, it was Gaurav Koli (18) and Nitin Gawade (22) at the lower order pushing the team towards a respectable score. From the bowlers, Vinay Kate and Vimal Hansraj with 2 wkts each were the pick of the lot. Also it was noteworthy to mention Sonik Bhandare who grabbed 3 brilliant catches to create a positive momentum in his team’s favor.
Arch Maverics in reply chased down the total in mere 10.5 overs winning the match by 7 wkts. Opener Pranay Ranka (26) & Sonik Bhandare (17) gave a decent opening start followed by a quickfire 32* off 19 balls by Jagdish Sure at no.3

Shri Matunga Gujrati S.M after opting to bat first were in for a shock when they were cleaned up for mere 71 runs in 12.5 overs with only one batsman managing to score in double digit. The combination of left arm and right arm pacers worked really well for Star CC Bandra as left arm pacer Abdul Rehman and right arm pacer Ankit Rajan came up with fiery spells to rattle the batsman. Abdul returned with exceptional bowling figures of 6/24 in 6 overs while Ankit was equally penetrative taking 4/26 in his 5.5 overs.
Star CC Bandra in reply chased down the score in just 15.1 overs winning the match by 8 wkts with Sunny Waghela remaining unbeaten on 43* alongwith Shivam Dhuri (22*).

8TH FEBRUARY 2020 IN MUMBAI, CHANAWALA CHALLENEGERS T-40 TROPHY 2019-20: The match between Akumentis Healthcare Ltd (AHL) and Express Marketing (EM) was played at Azad Maidan on 8th February 2020. EM won the toss and elected to BAT first.
EM’s opener Daiwat Rane and Prathamesh Naik were the pick of the performers. They stitched a partnership of 159 runs in the middle for the 4th wicket and it totally soared the innings total into a higher level. Daiwat took his time due to the fall of wickets on the opposite end and the need to steer the innings. He got the perfect support from Naik who scored a praise worthy innings of 64 runs off 78 balls.Daiwat scored a brilliant 116 off 106 balls and remained not out.EM scored 252 runs in 36 overs but due to slow over rate, they were awarded more 78 runs to the total that ballooned their score to 330. For AHL, Aviraj Mhatre and Harshal Vapilkar picked up 2 wickets each.
AHL’s batting performance was very abysmal, lack of high scorers and partnerships led them to a mere 158 runs in response. They were all out in 39 overs. Rahul Ghodke who played an innings of 42 off 102 balls was the only worthy mention. For EM, left arm spinner Ajay Thorat picked up an impressive figure of 4 for 33 in 4.1 overs. They experimented with a lot of options to grease their line-up and in the process conceded 51 extras. Overall, a completely comprehensive victory for EM.
RESULT- EXPRESS MARKETING won the match by 172 runs.

Singhania School after being put to bat first at Shivaji Park, Dadar could only muster a total of 124/all out in 20.4 overs. Opener Swarali Bhuyar top scored for Singhania School scoring 33 runs off 42 balls while the rest of the batters chipped in with small cameos.
Defending a total of 124, the pressure was obviously more on the Singhania bowlers to keep a leash on the Thakur team and Vishakha Chede just proved to be the right weapon as she came up with a brilliant spell to trouble the opposition team. Chede took 5/15 in 4 overs taking all the top to middle order wickets as Thakur Vidyamandir Girls were all out for 70 runs in 17.5 overs.
Result-Singhania School won by 54 runs

Payyade Sports Club after being put to bat first posted a total of 253/10 in 48.3 overs. It was a decent top order start with opener Hersh Tank and Auti putting on 82 runs together for the 2nd wicket, however the wickets fell a bit quickly post that partnership or else a 300+ total also looked possible at one stage. MPL Player Hersh opening the innings went on to score a brilliant 109 off mere 93 balls laced with 14 fours and 4 sixes. An innings where he was playing his natural game with controlled aggression. From the bowlers, off-spinner Praful Devkate who has a similar bowling action like R Ashwin was quite impressive taking 6/74 in 20.2 overs.
Defending 253, it was Musheer Khan emerging as a trump card for Payyade to trouble the opposition players. Young Musheer post his comeback has taken heaps of wickets for Mumbai in the U16 Circuit and he continues to dazzle this time taking 5/33 in 8.5 overs which also included a hat-trick where he cleaned up the lower order with his wily spin. For Dadar Union, Siddarth Akre was the only shining spot with 66 runs at no.5 while rest of the batters found it difficult to get going getting all out for 116 runs in26.5 overs.

8TH FEBRUARY, 2020 IN MUMBAI – MILAN MEGA CORPORATE CRICKET LEAGUE T20-2020 : DEVADIGA VS DELOITTE, venue- Cross Maidan, Date- 8th February 2020. Toss won by DELOITTE and elected to BAT first. The pitch was a usual flat deck.
DELOITTE batting scorecard had very little to boast off and the highest scorer for them was opener Tejas Mehta who scored a knock of 37 of 32 balls. They had a string of single digit scorers in their line-up that denied them a good score. For DEVADIGA, pacer Krishna Sherigar picked up a belligerent 6-wicket haul in 3.5 overs, he destroyed the top and middle over with swinging deliveries.
Chasing a fairly easy target, the Devadiga team faced some bumps in the form of 3 wickets in the top order but opener Harish Devadiga was skillful enough to seal the deal with vital innings of 30 runs. The 15 extras from Deloitte were very expensive for them in defending such a short score. Devadiga chased down the target in 9.3 overs. Overall, a very comprehensive win for DEVADIGA team.
RESULT- DEVADIGA won by 7 wickets.\
