Cricket Club of India opting to bat first at Elf Vengsarkar, Oval could have been all out under a total of 120-130 odd runs had it not been their opener Rohan Punjani anchoring the innings with an aggressive hundred. Even though wickets were tumbling from the other end with 17 runs the 2nd highest score in CCI’s innings, it was Rohan who went on to pile on runs confidently hitting 110 off mere 55 balls. At an exact strike rate of 200.00, Rohan smashed 10 fours and 6 sixes taking on the bowlers with superlative ease.
GVP Strikers in reply looked really good for the chase but again they required someone from the top order to hang on with their opener Gaurang Parekh who scored a fighting knock of 65 in 35 balls (7 fours, 4 sixes). Vinit’s quick 31 down the order further ensured the game remained a thriller till the very last ball with 2 runs required in the final delivery where in Vinit unfortunately got run out by Samir Mogul which ensured GVP were all out for 198 runs losing the match by just 1 run.
Both the teams gave their best and it was an exciting competition, however CCI emerged winners with opener Rohan Punjani being declared “man of the match” for obvious reasons, courtesy his brilliant knock of 110 runs.
