He came from a small town like Amravati with very less hopes to make it big. He was not good at studies and cricket used to be his only love. However, in cricket too, he had a sketchy journey where he failed to impress during peak moments right from his childhood whenever he had the opportunities. He even went through a road accident at a young age which had almost ended his career. In his first 3 Ranji Trophy matches, he was hardly able to score in double digits. However, one thing which always helped him rise was his attitude to never give up, the support from his parents and backing of coaches like Sulakshan Kulkarni and Chandu Borde which changed his life.

Yes we are talking about Apoorva Wankhade, Apoorva has represented Vidarbha across all formats while he has also played in IPL for Mumbai Indians and KKR. From a small town boy with limited dreams and skills set to making it into the India U19 World Cup Team, Ranji Trophy & IPL, Apoorva certainly has an insuring story to tell which is a must hear for all aspiring young cricketers.

Checkout the full Youtube Interview where he talks elaborately about his struggles, ups and downs & much more with Cricketgraph Host Jalal Shaikh.

HOW TO BOWL A SLOWER BALL ft.@cricketwithnagesh

We look at two slower ball variations which can be really handy in this day and age of T-20 cricket or in any format of cricket.

Spilt finger

✅ Hold the ball with the a normal grip, with the seam upright.
✅ Then as you are about to deliver it slide your forefinger and middle finger on the opposite sides towards the leather of the ball.
✅ The wider your fingers, slower the ball will come out.
✅ This type of slower ball is used by bowlers who hit the seam more often than other.
Australian legend Glen McGrath used it regularly.

One finger

✅Grip the ball normally
✅Then as you are about to deliver the ball slide your middle finger,so that you are holding the ball with only the forefinger and the thumb.
✅ This type of slower ball is good to bowl on a flat pitch, because it sticks on the pitch and the batsman can be caught in front of the wicket.

CRICKET GYAN- SLOWER BALL GRIP

Key 🔑 points:

1. As with all slower balls you will require a lot of practice to master these as well.
2. You arm speed should remain the same while bowling the slower balls, otherwise the batsman might pick it up.
3. Always use a secret signal to let your wicket keeper and fielders know that you are bowling a slower ball,so that they can move a few paces up for the catch.

The very first beneficiary of Cricketgraph Auctions is 9yr old Krishna Kale from Vasai who practices at Santosh Pingulkar sir’s Golden Star Academy in Virar. 9yr old Krishna Kale lost his parents some time back and he is taken care by his cousin brother and relatives. Pingulkar sir has adopted him in the cricketing context and takes complete care of him related to his coaching, training and development. Krishna was gifted a brand new English Willow Cricket Bat worth Rs 5000/- and the smile on his face speaks everything on how precious this bat is for the young man. The English Willow Cricket Bat was donated by Yoogi Sports.

Santosh Pingulkar donating bat to Krishna Kale
Santosh Pingulkar sir handing over the bat to Krishna Kale.

Speaking with Cricketgraph, Santosh Pingulkar sir said “Krishna is only 9yrs old and I have adopted him. He practices with sincerity and daily comes from Bhayender to my academy. Krishna looks like a solid batsman in the making and choosing him because not only he required this bat but he also deserved it”

The very reason for Cricketgraph to begin Cricketgraph Auctions was to ensure that needy and deserving cricketers across India are benefited through this initiative. During this stressful period, we were fortunate to receive support from multiple cricketers who came forward and donated their goods to make sure this initiative becomes a success.

Many established cricketers like IPL and India “A” fast bowler Tushar Deshpande, Mumbai Ranji Captain Aditya Tare to West Indies Batting Coach Monty Desai to Rajasthan Royals player Shashank Singh & many other Ranji players like Aakasrshit Gomel, Raunaq Sharma, Jay Bista amongst others have come forward and donated their goods. These are the cricketers whom we have termed The Goodwill Cricketers”

Cricketgraph takes this opportunity to thank all the cricketers who have shown support and also to the people who participate in the auctions to buy these cricket goods. As it is through their proceeds we could bring a smile on a young deserving cricketer like Krishna Kale  & we shall continue to help the needy & deserving cricketers as and when opportunities arise.

CARROM BALL is a variation used by off spinners and left arm spinners in cricket.

The ball is released by flicking it between the thumb and a bent middle finger in order to impart spin. Generally the carrom ball if delivered correctly by a right arm off spinner, moves away from a right handed batsman and if delivered by a left arm spinner moves into the right hand batsman.

Whilst right handed bowlers like Ajantha Mendis ,R Ashwin and Mujeeb ur Rehman have tasted great success with the use of the carrom ball.

The INSWINGER is a lethal fast bowling technique which can be used to dismiss a batsman. To a right handed batsman, the ball nips back in sharply and sometimes marginally which can help in getting LBW or even clean bowled. The IN-SWINGER can also pose danger to a left handed batsman as if forces them to play the ball away from the body.
